It's kinda therapeutic doing this exercises, actually! I was tense in the beginning, but I've started feeling more relaxed when I finished the exercises.

Thanks!! I equate drawing to cooking; there are cooks n bakers, cooks can throw whatever into a dish n it comes out tasty . Bakers need to put the precise measurements in or it's a bust. Thanks for helping me be a better baker lol!!❤

Question for the first one. Is the objective to draw as slowly in order to try and control it? I thought drawing fast lines would improve muscle memory. Does drawing fast do the exact opposite?

That is an excellent question. The answer is "yes and no".
Muscles memory is built by repeating an action over and over again. Drawing the lines slowly (in order to control them) ensures that you build a 'correct' muscle memory. When you then speed the action up in the future you are more likely to be able to draw straight lines owing to the underlying 'correct' muscle memory.
Speed doesn't affect the muscle memory directly, so drawing fast also builds muscle memory. The problem is that it is possible to build 'incorrect' muscle memory by repeating an action incorrectly (which is more likely when working fast). This makes it more likely that you'll then repeat the action 'incorrectly' in the future. If it helps you can think of people who can't catch a ball as having practiced 'catching badly' and people who are good at catching as having practiced 'correctly'.
There is nothing wrong with drawing fast (and in most situations I encourage it), but in this scenario I recommend drawing slowly to start with.

@@ArtBites yes, someone has finally said it. Speed improves your confidence, but slow and steady improves control and precision. With time lines will become straight and the speed will come naturally. To quote a certain artist, speed is a sub product of mastery.

@@ArtBites What about ghost lining, Going through on the line youre gonna draw over and over until you find the correct muscle and posture to go on with. Which is more important: total control of line you're going with on any way or knowledge of the correct way to go through with. I'm not trying to be an a**hole, just really curious about the line control. Many thinks perspective and form are the most important but I think actually line control is. Because if I draw consciously and fast then I can learn faster.
