I said in the video that I thought these were the first Australian singers that I had reacted to, completely forgetting that i had already done Redgum's I Was Only 19, the Herd's version of it, Eric Bogle's The Band Played Waltzing Matilda, and Cold Chisel's Khe Sahn. So much for my memory. 😎
Jimmy Barnes (nickname: Barnsey) is the lead singer/frontman of Cold Chisel. John Farnham’s nickname is Farnsey. He is predominately a solo singer but did join the Little River Band for a number of years before he went solo again.

My Vietnam era US Navy vet husband lives with me here in Melbourne (where John at least did a lot of his performing) since 1980. I grew up here and John became a teen idol when I was about 12 ( I'm 68 now!)
My friends and I used to say he was gorgeous!!

John Farnham is the blond and chose not to travel for family reasons, but he has had a world wide hit it was called, Your The Voice. I have put in a request for another great performance of his singing his version of the Beatles Help with the Melbourne symphony orchestra live
Yeah he chose not to travel...after promotional trips to UK, Scandinavia, Germany, Japan and touring US with Little River Band.
They are even better LIVE, so many songs of John Farnham (blonde) for you to react to - they are great mates who appreciate each other's talent!
I discovered Jimmy Barnes a few months ago doing "(Simply) The Best" with Tina Turner. I fell in love. He's quite the character. And I have heard of John Farnham.

John's the blond, Jimmy has dark hair. You can react to anything from John and you will not be disappointed, and Jimmy from Cold Chisel and later solo is worth the trip down the rabbit hole. John can sing anything, rock, soul, and will break your heart with ballads. And to top it all off, he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.
John was big overseas in the 1980s. He performed an open-air concert in Munich in front of a huge crowd. You're the Voice' was No. 1 in Germany and Sweden, Top 10 in Austria, Ireland, Switzerland, UK, and top 20 in Canada. The American market didn't like it, although it was played in the 2007 movie Hot Rod, and 2013 movie Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.
Both legends with over 50 years of hits! Its a cover of a Sam and Dave classic. Jimmy actually did a duet with Sam Moore during covid of another sam and Dave song, Soothe Me, which was great also.
John's version of the Beatles' classic Help, live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is amazing. And anything from Jimmy solo or with his band Cold Chisel is fantastic. Though his song Stone Cold, featuring American blues guitar legend, Joe Bonamassa is brilliant!

Jimmy is a legend and so is John. When Australia found out they were both sick, the country basically stood still. They are great friends and both have heaps of songs, Jimmy with his band cold chisel and solo. Jimmy also has heaps of duets with John Farnham, Tina Turner, INXS etc. Jimmy and cold chisel went to the US and they wanted the band to change so cold chisel came home and wrote the song “you’ve got nothing I want” John can sing all genres, he didn’t want to leave his family in Australia. He was with the little river band for a while. You would like cold chisels song Khe Sahn which is about soldiers returning home after war

Yes, Australia has many great singers and musicians that the world has never heard of. Always react to videos of John Farnham (the blonde) the GOAT performing LIVE in concert as it is there that his soul shines. He has a powerful, big range of a voice that is gymnastic and chameleon, singing in over 20 genres. Both John and Jimmy have quite a number of decade careers and top hits and albums and both have sung in other bands. For an even better version of this song please check out the same song sung at the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards in front of the cream of that industry. You will be blown away !
Great reaction to our favorites. Thanks. Barnsey (black hair) was a bit of a wild man in his band days (Cold Chisel) but has mellowed with the passage of time. Farnsey started young as a pop singer and matured into am Aussie superstar doing many concerts billed as "Whispering Jack" and one concert in Melbourne with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is legendary.

I am glad that you have found our John and Jimmy. Both huge Australian legends. Our John can sing any genre and is still singing at 74 even after having a large mouth cancer removed recently.
Jimmy is still belting out songs and is a similar age to John. Jimmy recently underwent major heart surgery. He is also the lead in the Aussie Band Cold Chisel with songs that they have written and performed about the Vietnam War era. Yes you have seen Jimmy Barnes as the lead signer of Cold Chisol :) Someone else further down notes that John signing his version of HELP by the Beatles with the Melbourne Symphany Orchestra is pretty good too!!! And for some nostalgia John singing Bridge over Troubled Water in about 1970 or thereabouts is pretty good too.

The record companies don't want them. In Britain, we've got cliff richards, why do we need him. In america, they didn't know what slot to put him in. They got him a gig in a small jazz club where they called him jack Phantom. So he came home to where he was appreciated.

Tom Jones and John sang a few time and many many others even Freddy picked John as he's replacement in band queen
But john declined as didn't want to leave family and fans behind
There's plenty of stuff on both these guys and both are decent individuals Jimmy was wild when younger in the band
Where's John always been as you'll learn really genuine individual what you see is what you get and he could've been a comedian if wanted

I'm surprised you don't know the song. It was a Sam and Dave cover from either 1967 or 68. Jim the dark haired man is actually younger than John. Jim got to record Sooth Me with Sam via the internet a few years ago. Sam was 86.
It is a shame that the person that requested this song didn't tell you to do one of the live versions. This recorded version is at best average in comparison to the live performances. This really doesn't do justice to either of these great singer's. If you want to see this song at it's best go check out one of the 3 live performances.

Sam and Dave performed it in your Country, blame your record execs, for treating our legends badly. Jimmy came home and wrote, you've got nothing I want. The excs didn't like John's voice. Put it squarely on them. Recently Jimmy did soothe me with Sam over the internet.
