Yeah do it man. It needs a 440. My first car was a 66 Sport Fury 383 2bbl auto in 1976. Canary yellow with black vinyl top and black interior. Bucket seats and console. Immaculate shape as it was a hand me down from my parents who bought it new.
This video popped up in my recommendations today, I have a '68 Fury VIP fast top with a 318 that has been in the family since 1977 that I rescued in 2009. You helped me get the kickdown linkage working right via the comment section a few months ago. Drove it today actually. These are awesome cars. Well worth putting in an engine of your choice and racking up some happy miles. My first car was a '67 Sport Fury also with a 318. It made it to 265,200 miles before a freak accident at my parents house did some real damage to the stub frame. Had I known then what I know now, I could have saved the car since the stub frame bolts on and I knew where there were three more '67 Furys with everything I needed to fix it way back in 1992.
My dad drove a 1966 Dodge Monaco 4dr w/ 2bbl 383. That car, and the 1969 4dr Furies provided by the LAUSD Driver Training program (yes, they used to actually teach useful things back then) are what I learned to drive in. If you can parallel park one of those Furies, you can park ANYTHING! At about $0.25/gal, plus "gas wars" between stations, SoCal was paradise in the early '70s. Never will go back. After Mom died, Dad traded the Monaco for a '70 Duster with a 318. That was even more fun. I always wanted a '70 'Cuda. Then the "original" fuel crisis of '74 happened, & VWs were everywhere. Love your videos - a lot of nostalgia. Keep the videos ( and the cars) going! BTW, I drive a 2019 Warlock now.
Sport Fury’s are way cool. That is a great project. And, the 440 is the way to go. The fact that your parents had a very similar car totally justifies another set of wheels in the driveway. I got my coronet convertible because my mom had one. I’m always looking for a 65 Newport convertible because that was my favorite car that my dad had when I was a kid. I don’t really have a good reason for owning a 70 challenger other than I being intrigued by Vanishing Point, but that’s good enough. I support you in this endeavor.
That must be what Tom said. I don’t remember things… haha. I think I got it mixed with someone telling me that in ‘73 a Mustang fastback is a “sports roof” or something like that.
Its unbelievable that you and I have so many parallels between you and myself. I have been trying to find a Fury III for awhile now, it was the first car I remember riding in and it was my dads car handed down to him by my Nana. I will find one! Congrats on your find man! (I also live in WA up north of Marysville).
Being one that lived with these cars, that was a dark era that we lived through the 80's that is. Lots of used parts. Lots of questionable quality electrical parts. It wasn't unusual to have had replaced several alternators, starters etc. Until the supply chain woes as of recent, we are living in a great time for these cars to get them fixed right. The bad 80's parts caused a lot of those cars to end up re-cycled unfortunately. Happy new year!
Congratulations, you've found another one of my wants. First car I had titled to me was a 67 VIP with the sport roof. Car had a small block with a broken crank ( seriously it was broken in two) I moved away from home and the car eventually ended up at Wildcat. I will own another.
I'm liking that 63 Chrysler in the background learned to drive in one back in the 80's. Would love to get another one some day. Still have my 74 Charger S/E bought it in the spring of 86. Just found your channel recently and really like it buddy keep it coming I appreciate it
Cool car! Back in 1986 I talked my brother in law into buying one of these, it was a 68 fastback and had a 440 swapped in it, we had alot of fun in it!
Hey DDG. New subscriber here. I'm a grumpy old retiree up in Skagit Valley, I've been binge watching your 'Cuda videos, and they're right up my alley. So to speak. I love watching guys putting rust buckets back on the road! So this is fun!
See, I didn’t have that thought at the time of filming, but I realized later that it would make perfect sense, and the people do want a Magnum swap video. Yellow charger was an amazing highway cruiser with that automatic - when it worked.
@@DeadDodgeGarage Kinda thought of 2 things- 'Stand Alone' the A518 (patc kit?) and the oft-requested Magnum to older Mopar wiring interface info. Thinking subframe connectors, too. It helped the handling a lot on the A-bodies, gotta max maneuver sometimes- crummy drivers are everywhere.
Funny thing about that… we have something called Operation Paycheck Zero, and that’s exactly what it is. There is an endless supply of good stuff that I need for various projects.
Interesting, I didn't realize you worked out at Rocket. Say hi to Tom from Mike H. I haven't been out there in quite awhile but from the video it looks pretty similar as the last time I was there.
Will do! Yes, I started there in July. All of the “nice” cars and restoration projects are filmed there. A lot of the revival type stuff too. Tom likes to throw me projects I really enjoy every now and again. You know, old crusty junk. Haha. Oh, and if you missed it, I had Tom on the live stream a couple weeks ago if you want to check that out.
I used to own 1 but it was a drop top I had nothing but problems with the electrical system I also had the front end rebuilt god knows how many times and after I got rid of it I found out the frame was cracked in 3 places . A family member told the buyer behind my back he could make payments on the car . I will not mention who but I told this relative they had no right to do that
Went to my senior prom in a 68 Polara Convertible. Still have that big beautiful doll today. C bodys ROCK. I could haul 7 friends in high school and the air was ice cold..... and nothing cooler than getting a request for howling hydes and being able to drop the blades and watch the tiresmoke drift up....
You need another project car like you need a kick in the balls! Just saying... I am starting to feel some UTG vibes here, tons of project cars, and not one that ever gets truly finished... I love this channel and I will always watch your videos , even if you never finish anything....
That’s how my life has been for almost fifteen years, it’s just all on video now… such is the life of a car hoarder. I can say with 100% certainty that I’m actually doing better at finishing projects these days. I think RUclips is the driving force behind that. But yeah, you’re right. Haha.
Watch my Classic Chrysler Charging Systems video, where I go over all of the circuits that make them tick. Hopefully that helps! But if it doesn’t, feel free to ask any follow ups in the comments there.
I actually don’t know what is up with that one. There are at least four of them on the property currently… I will be doing a video on ‘70 Sport Fury GTs at some point.
I didn’t wet myself but I saw some cool stuff! Haha. See I’m only just becoming a C body guy. But I really dig the Sport Furys - 300s are good too. I actually really want a ‘55 C300. That’s on my short list. I’ll give you a call some time soon too. Life is hectic… burned up house demolition this week, and mail trucks in every other available moment. Time for a drink.
@@DeadDodgeGarage ya get the super busy part. Wanted to write about the roadrunner too but lack the time. Sentimental reasons, throws everything out the window. How? Ask a 55 year old why he still possesses a 57 D100 from a build from the early 80's. Why put 69 Fury parts into a 57? 69 C body sub frame. Answer it was a cheap build even to 80's standards. If something grabs your attention. go for it
67/68 are absolutely the best years of fury imo. Great choice.

Jamie, I've had three '68 Fury's as in my mind they had the cleanest body lines. Looking forward to this resto.

The 63 and 64 sport fury are my favorite.
I like those a lot. But the later C body is growing on me.
I honestly thought there was gonna be a hundred foot extension cord in the trunk.
Wish there had been. Haha. Oh well.
440 definitely needed in this car.
440 is a good choice in a C body. That Fury is similar to my 68 300. 😎
Let's get the Barracuda road worthy first One at a Time! From Captain Bee
Definitely. The Sport Fury is safe in the parts pile for now. Haha. Barracuda update is coming next! It has a fuel system and almost brakes now!
I see a 58 Imperial in that pack of Furys!
You know I believe IMPERIAL, Cadillac & Lincoln are the Holy Trinity of cars.
I like the 383 idea. Jamie, I need the power wagon front top part where the radiator top opens for a 1956.
@captain X can you message me? I have a couple of them (it's my pile of parts that I'd LOVE to go away)
Tom’s the guy! If you need help getting in touch with him you can also always email me at jamienoise@gmail.com
