    Very cool! Just got my sub, for sure. Bought 20 acres in Montana last summer, as soon as I’m not snowed in I’ll be heading down the mountain to pick up a sawmill & will be building a covering. $250 is a nice cost! Also, loved the community involved...neighbors, friends, and the next generation paying attention. Modeling hard work and accepting help and building something with your own hands is one of the greatest gifts you could give your son. Much respect. 🤟🏼

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  Год назад +1

      It depends on what you’re milling and for what purpose. Hardwood for furniture definitely has to dry. Framing lumber should also dry but it’s a much shorter period than furniture lumber. I built my sawmill shed out of green lumber. I’ve noticed a little shrinkage but the structure is as sturdy as the day I built it.

    I want to build a woodmill shed as well but living in upstate NY we get a huge snow load and can have up to 3' of packed snow on the roof, so I will have to notch my rafters and have them sit on top of the beams. My concern is with that snow load I will need a center support pillar in the middle of the mill under each beam. Not necessary for the summer, so I am thinking of just pouring a 12" pier level with the ground of concrete and then using that as the base to put in a pillar just for the winter for the added support. other than that, I like design. I will probably go with a ridge beam so that I don't need to go with long rafters. Can you tell me what the dimensions are that you used ie. LxWxH

    • @NorthwestSawyer

    Awesome! I need to get mine built... did you burn around the posts and then pour more concrete? I’ll be using white pine and am trying to figure our the best approach for the posts. Likely will pour concrete piers.

    Man, I love this. I'm picking up my LT-35 tomorrow. I've had a Woodland Mills while I waited. I tech question: How did you do your laminated beams for the long, unsupported spans?

    Looks amazing! Dry and heated! How do you keep your lumber? Do you have a shed for your made lumber? Where you can air-dry it wirhout tarpening it over? I am in doubt cause my wood is now better be kept in logs than in lumber...

      I don’t have storage for my lumber. I typically make what I need and use it fairly quickly.
