      Why not just get the Hellcat Pro Comp. It's on my wish list.

  • @SplashOfOrange
    @SplashOfOrange 3 месяца назад +19

    And to think I just bought an OG Echelon a couple weeks ago. That said its recoil is already pretty tame. An integrated comp would be nice but I'm not sure it's worth a new buy just for that. But if I had the choice at time of purchase, sure, I'd almost certainly have picked up the comp model.

    • @GranTigerGaming
      @GranTigerGaming 3 месяца назад +3

      There are pros and cons to the comp, you definitely have a great gun still. Pros are your slide will stay cleaner longer, slightly quieter, and no worries about the gas/flash obscuring your sight or making your red dot dirty faster if you install one.

      @@ronaldnunley865 agreed, and I have the threaded barrel so that's an option, just nice to have the clean integration and lower bulk of a native comp/port. I do have an RDP comp that I'll see if I can get indexed right to be useful at least as a test. What comp did you use?

      @@GranTigerGaming 100%, no regrets. I love my OG Echelon, a comp would be a sweet option though. And yeah, I know they make them, I'd just prefer to keep the clean lines and shorter barrel of an integrated comp.

      @@ronaldnunley865 Nice. I just shot the echelon this past weekend, out of 20 options I got to try at the range it was my favorite fullsize, followed by the walther PDP. I actually like external comps more, would rather have it as an option than built in.

    Great video man, it was interesting that at first long ago when the 1st Echelon was made, there was an email from Springfield that a quick detach comp was being made for the threaded barrel model (like thier Hellcat RDP), but seeing they went the route of the Prodigy with the port cut, it makes sense the Echelon was getting that treatment.

    • @JustinOpinionChannel
      @JustinOpinionChannel  3 месяца назад +2

      Many states, including the one I live in, have outlawed any threaded barrels (because they are scary looking). It's wise to do it this way for that reason and others.

  • @bpri9880

    The biggest advantage for ports/comps is for competitive shooting. Those two things allow for quicker shot and more accurate placements and therefore faster times and less or more hit points depending on the match type. The only thing is is that USPSA doesn’t have a division for these types of pistols (besides open) and that category is for the super modified race guns. IDPA allows for it but only in two categories. So in short hopefully gun manufacturers are pushing the competitive areas to open more categories.

    Great video as usual, sir. The comp looks like an after thought on this. Minimal change in the slide geometry tells me that this was not a holistic addition. More like Springfield trying to keep up with the "Jones" of the industry.

    When switching the MantisX between guns it's a good idea to switch gun selection from the library or simply reconnect to force it to recalibrate again. Its been a while since I tested not calibrating between moves, but at the time I did I observed a benefit of recalibration between different firearms.

    Good morning, Justin and family. 💪🇺🇸💪☕️. Yes, sir. Looks like comps on pistols are the new thing now. I know so far im enjoying my Smith&Wesson M&P9 2.0 4.25 carry comp. I just broke in my shadow systems XR920P yesterday. One thing i notice tho on the XR920P vs. the Smith&Wesson carry comp is that after 50 rounds, my front site on the XR920P turned black. Other than that problem on the XR920P. shooting good. I guess it's the 2a Patriot 124 Grain Ammo im using that's just dirtier. I'll have to play around with other ammo to see which shoots cleaner.

    There is a velocity loss if you in essence shorten the barrel but this should still be 4 inches. Shortens the sight radius too. Again by a small amount. Giving people a choice is great. Do not see a downside to that.

    Now, lets see how fair they are to their customers. Will they offer just the slide and barrel for a reasonable price to go on existing Echelons? Or will they try to price it just enough to where they squeeze out every dollar they can, making it better off to just buy another complete gun.

      @SparkyTactics 19 дней назад

      Yes, you would if it was a port. But it’s not a port, it’s a comp - they took out the rifling in the barrel at that part. Which makes fragments a non issue and is what separates a comp from a port.

    It’s a ported gun not compensated. Ports are holes in barrel. Compensated is compensator fixed to threaded barrel.

    • @SparkyTactics
      @SparkyTactics 19 дней назад

      It’s crazy how some of you don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s a compensated gun, not a ported gun.
      Ports are holes in the slide and barrel, and the rifling is NOT removed or backbored. If it’s integrally compensated, the barrel will have the rifling out underneath the port.
      With just a port, you’ll have issues with bullet fragments potentially. Integrally compensated you won’t. Huge difference.
