He also made an appearance at a school in South Brum to speak to the kids. I enjoyed the game and occasion, good luck for the rest of the season 🤙🏻

Like the match, ‘‘twas a podcast of thirds. Thought the initial match analysis was the finest I’d heard you do. Really good. I hadn’t dwelt on the Palmer issue but I think Andy was spot on and his solutuon may be too. Suspect it may wait a game or two longer as SPM clearly not quite match fit and, as per last season, trying a little too hard. My only disappointment was not hearing more about the atmosphere at St. Andrew’s. The pre match build up was very good - Mr. Blue Sky on a crystal clear Monday evening for goodness sake :) - but we should acknowledge that from 20 minutes onwards their fans were the best we’ve heard in seasons. I also had a cracking walk back through Digbeth with them and had to resist their determination to buy me a pint. I saw one item tossed (not thrown) from the tier above and frankly it was aimed at an idiot to the left of me who had been looking for it for an hour and finally got what he wanted. Heard some claims post match but Wrexham fans were challenging other Wrexham fans on that and it struck me as just the sort of BS people use after a defeat to try and provoke an issue. Credit also to the stewards and police who were all friendly and helpful. Makes such a difference. Some random thoughts: - weak point at the back was again O’Connor - gave them free crosses at key moments - but it was compounded by forcing McLean into the team at wing back. Continues to make us look like a one winger team at best and last night it cost a goal. - Rathbone was poor/headless again. We looked far better when Cannon came on but it strikes me that we’d have looked just as good much earlier had we started with McClean in the midfield. - disappointed to hear the view that Revan looked better than Mendy. Thought both looked great and Mendy brought Lee into the game in a way that neither McClean nor Rathbone had. The last third changes of Revan, Cannon, Mendy and Mullin could have been much more significant if made much earlier. - you know I’m not his greatest fan and he probably takes a hit for the first two goals, but, I really didn’t think Arthur could be blamed for the last one. That was just a perfect hit and sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and acknowledge it. - yes Birmingham were next level but to an extent they were no better than the first 15 from Bolton. Thd difference was we let Birmingham play whereas at Bolton we made early changes and fixed the issue. Suspect here that 0-1 wrongly papered over the fact we had the same issue. - I’m getting increasingly irate at how accessibility is being handled in away games. Fans on crutches and unable to stand located behind two rows of people with no issues who then stand throughout and block the view. Zero consideration from our fans but also clearly some very strange organisational issues.
When SPM is fully fit - he starts with Ollie next to him. That's how Parky has designed it and how it works. Ollie is absolutely vital to attacking on set plays and defending against set plays..
