Rocky 4 is Awesome I'm thankful that the franchise expanded with Creed the first Creed is my favorite 😀
I enjoyed the Creed movies but haven’t gone back after my first time watches. I want to check out Creed 3 soon.
Man,I haven't seen the directors cut.It's very disappointing Rocky vs Drago is not available on Blu Ray,only on 4K.Major miss from WB on this.I'm hoping when Rocky V and Balboa are ready ,they either include remastered Blu Rays including Rocky Vs Drago in a full box set like Paramount has done with the Star Trek films sets or remastered Blu Rays get their own release or a standalone Rocky IV/Rocky Vs Drago cut Blu Ray release.Something closer to what WB is doing with the upcoming Superman films.
That’s what i’m hoping too. I don’t really like what they did with this set as far as release go. I also would of liked something more like the superman Box set, Hopefully your right and we get a full complete box set when 5 and 6 come out. If we do I might sell this one and grab that.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia I think many people did that with the Original Star Trek films. In September 2021 Paramount released Star Trek: The Original 4-Movie Collection that had only films 1-4.Exactly one year later, they released Star Trek: The Original Motion Picture 6-Movie Collection that added films 5-6 and also added the directors edition of film 1.Tha second set made the first set obsolete within 12 months.I'm sure many sold off that first set after the second one arrived this past September.
yepe! I’m not the biggest Star Trek fan so I grabbed that original 4k set for cheap when that new set came out. Their also releasing a new next generation 4k set so the Star Trek sets are all over the place at this point.
Hey John. Glad you injoyed the Rocky vs Drago cut, but I have to disagree 🙈 I enjoyed it but after I finished watching it I had the opposite feeling. The original version is the better cut and would be the one I'd watch in continuity. I've only seen the new cut once, but there was things that bothered me about it and other things I found jarring, maybe because I'm so used to the other cut too much, but I really disliked the recap at the start and playing Eye Of The Tiger at the end. I just didn't get it because if you are watching the series you already know this from Rocky 3. It felt like filler to pad the new version out. I'd have much preferred a 2 hour cut with the deleted scenes inserted into the film we already know. But it was an interesting exercise.
It’s funny you mentioned the Eye of the tiger thing. I thought I was going crazy loll. that was the first scene I fast forwarded to. I thought I was remembering Rocky 4 wrong. I totally get it not working for you. It fixed a lot of my Flaws with Rocky 4 while keeping in the stuff I really loved. I also really got into Apollo this time around like I have never before and This new cut added to his story I thought. I will admit though after this rewatch Rocky 2 is getting closer. I loved that movie this time and maybe with more time it can overtake Rocky vs Drago.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia I really want to watch the new cut again because the first time aa much as I was trying to forget everything I know about the original cut you just notice wee things. Cant remember them all right now, but extra dialogue that's great, but also missing scenes or dialogue I loved. I don't think it improved it at all and it only threw up more flaws for me. I think it also moved too fast, and that's saying something because the original Rocky IV is already fast paced! It did answer some questions though like why rocky has no sparring etc. But as you pointed out the new cut pushes Paulie to the background and Dragos wife! I loved her involvement. It makes more sense then when we see her in Creed 2, but now she's omitted 🤷♂️ (I think Stallone let his personal feelings in the way with that decision.) If I can remember it opens with the song Sweetest Victory? Then ends with Eye of the Tiger. This never made sense. Eye of the tiger for me was synonymous with Rocky 3. The opening to the original version was perfect. OK if you wanted get rid of the gloves exploding lol but Sweetest victory could have been used at the end.
Yea that doesn’t make sense to put eye of the tiger in it but if i’m being honest I didn’t hate it lol. Stallone definitely let his personal feelings get involved with that. I should of brought that up because it did bother me. I thought it was more focused and I thought the faster pace worked for it. I am a fan of 80s films like this though so it checks more boxes for me that aren’t for everyone. I thought it gave more heart to it witch was always the biggest flaw of the original cut. I also really didn’t care for the robot or it’s storyline with paulie so I was glad that was cut and then they made the funeral scene way better also. Also i’m a sucker for a montage and this movie gave us way to many so I was happy lol
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia I seen people say he put Eye of the tiger in at the end because it was to do with Apollo who give him the phrase etc but as I say for me that's synonymous with Rocky 3, Rocky, Mickey, Clubber Lang and Creed. Its a great song though lol it was just odd. Yeah but I thought the idea was to slow IV down with the drama? It went quickly from the opening recap to Apollo visiting Rock to his death to Russia then to the fight. I did love all the extra scenes. I'd just have preferred a longer cut of IV, but now you have to decide between them and I dont think all that time and effort warranted a completely different cut. Because ultimatley hes made an inferior film imo lol. But if you had the theatrical and extended you then have a choice as such, like T2, where its not a completely different film. That's just my opinion anyway. I thought that unlike Rocky 1 and parts of 3 Paulie's a stand up guy in IV. Hes there for Rock all through his toughest test yet. But I suppose if they cut the Robot some of Paulies scenes had to go. I wasn't opposed to the robot being cut by the way.
That does make sense actually because it does play like a tribute to Apollo witch does appeal to me. But I also agree I don’t think it needs it and when I hear it my mind goes right to Mr T and not Apollo. Even though it’s clearly made from his line but I think Clubber. I knew I was going to let you down with this opinion but I had to be honest lol. Less Paulie is always better but I admit he said all the right things in the original cut and in the new cut I love that his speech to Rocky before he goes out actually can make his behavior forgivable because he’s self aware enough to realize he’s the problem. They would ruin that in 5 though lolll.
It's grain managed the rocky vs Drago ..looks to clean...not enough grain though the compression is better than rocky 3 and 4 which has awful compression especially in bright outdoor scenes..the whole set seems to be rushed released with a bunch of audio errors and poor encoding. The first one is the best for encoding and cleaned up. Rocky 3 has tons of specks and pops it's very mediocre. Will be interesting to see if and when they re-release this again with all the movies of if they will improve this mixed bag of a mess of a release
I actually felt like they got better as they went along. Nothing in this set blew me away but also nothing was offensively bad. I think the Rocky franchise deserves better then what feels like an average horror franchise set release. I’m hoping down the line they get better treatment but for what they are priced at it’s hard to say their awful.
Really annoying that they didn’t include the directors cut on standard blu ray....Why?...Not all of us have the privalage of owning a 4K blu ray player....Gutted.
I agree. It to me feels like laziness. They didn’t want to print it on blu ray disks. I think everyone should be able to see the new cut.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia I agree I rented it on RUclips a while ago but I suppose I’ll have to buy it to keep on RUclips or through Amazon Prime annoyingly....I really wanted to own a physical copy on standard blu ray lol.
Lol I understand that. It’s possible they release it alone on standard blu ray down the line. It wouldn’t surprise me at all.
ROCKY 4 re-cut I enjoyed the movie but was very disappointed in the sound. All the music scenes didn't add any punch to my home system. I saw ROCKY 4 at the movies and that sounded great not this.
I would say the set as a whole had just ok sound. Nothing that blew me away. I would of definitely liked a better audio track.

I think at that price it’s a no brained. Especially if you don’t all ready have it.
