Ivan does it like it's no big deal, just another guy lifting in a gym. That's why. It's incredibly inspirational, really. If Ivan can get to this point with only a partial plan, no peaking phase, completely raw, in 10 years (and much less if you consider 265 was 3 years ago), I definitely don't feel overextended thinking I can do 320 in maybe 13 years, with a more deliberate plan and a peaking phase.
Doing squats like this, low bar with ultra wide stance, has improved my hip mobility and knee strength drastically Its a fantastic accessory for high bar narrow, can't wait to see how this improves your max Ivan!
270kg for a non powerlifter is crazy man! (Even for a powerlifter it's impressive). Clearly what you are doing is working because you are now pulling and pushing serious numbers
Congrats Ivan! Really solid and perfect form as always. I'll be here when you hit the next milestone (300 Kg? 👀). Im on my way to 160 Kg deadlift PR and these tips helping me. Rowing for example I wasnt really giving them that much importance and it has been a game changer. Grear vid! 😊
I think you just don't do deadlifts deliberately enough in your routine to have that big CNS effect and add a lot to it. You've built a lot of muscle in those 996 days and your strength potential is a lot higher. I think this is true for squats too. We saw you do a type of peaking with the reps of 180, if a little approximate. That's why your numbers on that were well above what you'd expect to take for a single. I think if you went for a deliberate peaking phase of about a month on either lift, you'd squat 235-245 or deadlift 290-300. Though for both, you should probably build more upper back first. Awesome that you've done 270, anyway! 595 lbs! I know that if you really want to, you can break the 600 soon!
my guess would be a faster way to do this might have been 'gain some weight'? like if i gained 10 kg of bodyweight, even if i didn't train deadlift at all, my deadlift would go up 10 kg just naturally
High reps with high weight to absolute failure are the key, not exercise variation. Do one intense set of squats at 8+ reps. When you feel like you can't do another rep, do two more. You only need this one set a day, and the high rep range allows you to chip away at progressive overload one rep at a time. I know you did this with 180 earlier in the year but you never went back to it after the sickness. When you began plateauing at 180 you should either go up to 185 and start hitting rep PRs there, or go down to 170 and go for something like 20 reps. Recovery from these high rep intense sets is phenomenal and you will be able to hit them every other day. The key is adjusting the weight slightly either up or down when you plateau, and going into this one single set with the absolute desire to go until you cannot go anymore. Don't fall for the West Side system, you'll get stuck in a vicious cycle of small PRs once a year doing a bunch of unnecessary fluff. Weight is weight. This is a mental game where you have to push your body beyond the point where it would otherwise stop to damage it enough to grow. Doing that is something that can only happen once during a session at best. Don't get stuck doing this junk volume. You can mostly just squat as you love doing and make tremendous progress if you just implement this method, and tailor your accessory work around keeping your body healthy enough for more squats (bloodflow). Conjugate practitioners make a bunch of neural efficency gains and not much else.
Massive brother. Seriously elite. To be fair - deads are a secondary if not 3rd or 4th drop for ya. If you were to prioritize it like powerlifters you def. could've hit it early. My back looks whatever almost rounds on front squats 😅 funny thing is - Kyle Bruce the Olympian does as well? May be genetic....but for whatever reason - your back in your front squats is unbelievably straight. It blows my mind. 1 year deadlifting perhaps? I think your back is so unbelievably strong man - an here is the evidence. Salute king 👑
Well done Ivan 👍 I was supposed to be attempting 285 in comp in a week, but i decided to set myself on fire and tear my ankle CL 😂 Fiona Stanley ward was really nice though!

@@loungeroomlifting2223 damn man. That’s scary. Could have been alot worse but the sounds of it. Hopefully it all heels up ok. Was this a work accident?
@IvanDjuric300 no, it happened at home.. freak accident deep frying chips. Accidently put too much oil in and too high a setting. Was helping my son when I could smell the burning oil in the air. I went over to it and grabbed the lid which was so hot I immediately threw it at the sink, but as soon as the air touched the oil it immediately burst into flames spilling over the edges onto the counter.. got my son out of the room and stood there wondering what I could throw over it (had no fire blanket). End up grabbing the handle and slowly walking out to the backyard to throw it in the dirt, got near the back door and the wind blew the flames into my face forcing me to lean back which spilled flaming oil onto my hand and forearm sending me into shock whilst I attempted to run outside it spilled onto the floor which lit my foot up. I got out the door and threw it across the deck to the sand, but obviously, the oil came out and lit up like napalm in the air, blowing back all over my face, shoulders and chest. Had spot burns all over my arms, torso, and legs. I got outside whikst I was on fire and hurled myself into the dirt and rawled for the garden hose where I sat under it for 10 minutes until my lips cooled enough to yell out to the wife who was asleep with my 1yo. She come outside and gasped because all my skin was like "cooked pork white". Called the ambo and the Paramedics arrived and pumped me with Morphine. Woke up in hospital.
@@loungeroomlifting2223 oh my god man. That’s insane! Reading that I felt the panic. I was just thinking, what do you do with that. Not having a fire blanket. @IvanDjuric300 Your back is already strong and you might be better off putting it on the back burner and concetrate your working/recovery resources on weak area like quads. Your squat will improve. There is a lot to be said about the bodybuilding attitude of not always doing the full-body movement and instead managing fatigue. But most importantly, I am not even saying that you MUST start doing this variation. But I am confident that just simply trying this trick will teach you about yourself, will give food for thought on how to modify your training. And after trying it once you will understand it and will either start using it or will the worst put it in your list of alternative exercises. Please just try it once, so I won't be banned for repeatedly bugging you for years about the same topic. 😃 Cheers!

The barbell did move very well. 280 is clearly manageable in the next year I think!

Yeh it’s been a big change for me. I still feel like I need to get used to it. But it’s getting a lot better.
Yes, Wide stance should always accompany Low Bar. Much lower than you are doing. But it's a matter of flexibility, you'll get there.
