¡Muchas gracias por mostrar al mundo la comida de mi país! Se nota que a su linda hija también le gustó la cochinita pibil. :-P Un cordial saludo desde México y ... ¡Buen provecho!
I’ve bought one of your cookbooks and it's my very favorite! I have made most of the recipes on it. Thank you so much for sharing your most delicious recipes with us! It's wonderful to get to know you through this portal. Blessings to you and yours😊🤗
While I love good, well prepared Mexican food, it is one dimensional compared to French cuisine. The heavy use of chilis of one type or another in so much of Mexican cuisine can get tiring. As for unique, many of the same dishes or variants can be found in Central or South American countries. French cuisine through the creative use of a wide range of ingredients, spices, herbs, and techniques, has a phenomenal array of flavors and textures.
your awesome! My brother and I used to go camping-diving for a month every year w our Dad , I even quit my teaching job to go one year. but i always rememberd the food in Mulege B.C S. now im im in palm Springs Ca with my teenagers living the life. p.s. dam your cute. later. cupcake
This is not the first time Rick got to work in various states of undress. Here is the tank top, tomorrow some other tight shirt. One of the producers should tell him "WE GET IT RICK, YOUR SHREDDED EVEN WHILE FOCUSING IN MEXICAN FOOD!". With tortillas and rice as our major staples, hes the only one out there without love handles.
rick, could the pork for chochintas pibil be made in something like the big green egg grill? Using your same method of pan and banana leaves and achiote pf course.
I think a lot of people think when Lanie says, "Speaking of hot, I think I should go check on my Dad", she's referring to physical attractiveness, and people think that's really weird. However, I believe she only means that he's hot from digging the pit, which is why she brings him something to drink. Get your heads out of the gutter, people, and stop letting yourselves get weirded out over that little comment that should've been harmless.
Only people with a sick perverted mind would think that she's talking sexual about her father that's disgusting. There's one dude had a Blog and was talking about that it said it's mating grow female because it seemed like she was making out with her Dad. that's disgusting to think something like that Chef Bayless
If your clothes or your hands get stained with chili (or pretty much any vegetable color), let it sunbath and the stains will disappear completely, unless they have added oil or fat. Happened to me several times with light color clothing, unfortunately for me it had added oil, so now I have a dot as a stain.
I don't remember how I originally came about watching this show, but however it happened I've been hooked since! I like his laid back approach, because Mexican cooking is all about time & patience. Mexicans don't rush anything, and it shows up in our food. As a Chicana I don't feel he's appropriating the culture because he's lived in Mexico, all over, and studied with some of the best Mexican chefs; I appreciate his respect for the culture, and our food! With that being said, I will not lie, his daughter is a little weird. She is always standing too close to him, and the way she looks at him is like a little girl with a schoolyard crush. IDC about the "Hot' comment bc it wasn't sexual, but, other episodes I've watched I can see her having some unnatural crush on her own father. I don't know this family or their dynamic, I'm not even judging cause this type of thing does happen in families, all I'm saying is, she creeps me out, and she's annoying.
Made Chichonita Pibil and Carnitas from your videos many times here in PA. FANTASTIC!! Anyway, at the end of this video where all of the F&F are sitting at the table, they all have a bowl of dark brown stuff they put on the tortilla shell and pork. What is it and how do you make it? Looks goooood! Thnaks, Jeff
+Jeffrey Pritts Rick would never use processed beans...they are soaked the night before then cooked in slow fire with a little oil, onion, garlic and epazote for about 2 hours or until the water evaporates mostly, then put salt and serve with fresh cheese (queso fresco)
I wish they would drop the exaggerated enthusiasm. I know it's a show, and they have to hype it up. But, this always makes me distrust the presenters, especially the daughter, in this case. Such a great dish deserves more.
I think Rick Bayless is an incredible chef with an amazing depth of knowledge about Mexican cuisine, but it's difficult to get through an episode of this great show when Lanie is in the mix. Don't get me wrong; I think Lanie is a beautiful girl and seems like a real sweetheart, but her over-the-top enthusiasm, valley girl inflection when speaking Spanish and borderline Electra complex with Rick makes it nearly unwatchable television. The father-daughter dynamic here seems too scripted and poorly acted, just be yourselves. There are some real cringe-worthy moments during the series, in particular, I remember seeing Rick laying on Lanie's lap after they laid out some blankets and pillows for a party...are you fucking kidding me? Also, notice how Deann Bayless rarely (if ever) speaks on camera. I wonder why she is in the show at all sometimes. If you're going to portray a healthy family life on your show, I think your wife should chime in once in a while. Instead she's seemingly marginalized and appears more like Rick's mom rather than wife and business partner. Poor production choices aside, I think it's a very informative show about Mexican food and Rick exhibits his high-level of culinary skill. The most enjoyable part of this episode is when Rick is cooking, you could just see Lanie's stunning mid-section and she was silent...deliciosa
His Spanish is phenomenal. A true culinary hero!!

"Speaking of hot! I think I'll go check on my dad ::giggle::" wtf?
Yae that's what I was thinking.
Aarteest Mj I assume she meant because he's digging a pit...
He was left working outside by himself, so she knew he was overheated.
Lmfao..Ya no kidding wtf

I think Bayless borrowed his daughters shirt to lay out the bricks

Of all chefs, I'd like Rick Bayless to cook for me! Check out his other videos - his culinary tastes are marvelous.

she will fill his shoes one day and be a great chef, she has no choise.
She has a choice this because her father is a chef does it mean she has to be she's her own person.

i dont think hes being ugly or rude. just stating his opinion
nathalie santos Go get yourself an education and learn that 'stating an opinion' is an empty, worthless argument constructed for weak and dumb people.
Dizzle S I agree
"Speaking of hot, I think I should go check on my dad." Felt reallllly weird.
Uh, it's because he's outside digging a hole, you perverts.
Real pilbi has tequila mixed in the sauce so, he should have put a whole bottle to get everyone toasted!!! Lol
He's a hack
