Hello, i just got a used Traktor Kontrol S2 MK1 and installed Traktor Pro 3. I'm learning to use them both and watching your video to get tips. Wow, 11 years ago ? I didnt realize this controller was than old. I'm running the demo of Pro3 and plan to buy it next week.
Tried the S4 at Guitar center and it is pretty nice! ended up being there for about an hour and a half just playing with it and was getting used to it but i eventually had to go. From my short experience, this controller did everything i wanted.

You noted that this controller doesn't have a lot of input/output options... do a lot of DJs that use controllers run them through a DJ mixer to get main/booth/record output options and backup inputs like a CD player, etc....? I ordered the CNTRL-7, hope to have it soon. I may still keep an analog mixer in the loop sometimes, especially at home as my mixer allows me to record what I do to my iPod... I also may use the mixer for hooking 2 DJs into it, at a party we're setting up.. Thanks lots!

the first button on your deck B of effects should say "RST" which means reset. it resets the defaults on the effects back to half. :) let me know if this helped!!
Well, tried the CNTRL-7, twice, got two defective ones. I now have a Mixtrack Pro 2 and love it. I like the Serato program too, but it's a new learning process as I was pretty used to VDJ. I am now using the MTP2 and a CDJ800Mk2 into a Stanton M.203. I sometimes use vinyl but don't take it places, just the laptop/controller, and sometimes the mixer and backup device(CDJ,iPod), microphone, headphones, cables, etc. Thanks again for all your vids, Please advise on headphones under $100.

its a great beginner set-up. I wish I would have started with the s4, though. Instead, I have invested in the f1 and x1 by NI + the s2 for the same money as an s4, yet lack vinyl controllers. choose wisely.

Good instructions to the uploader.. It is a double the price comparison from S2 to S4, but the S4 has the Loop recording that i need. Native Instrument's web site has a comparison tab to look at what fit's you best. I wish the S4 was not so much more (IMO)+ I would like regular turntable's and Maschine, Complete 8, traktor X1 running on Traktor scratch pro2.....That's about $2,000 and this video set-up is about $425.00 Big decision when it's just a hobby.

One question, im a beginner. If it doesnt have a built in soundcard it means that you cant listen to another track with headphones while you re playing right? But this can be fixed by installing a sound card to the computer?

@RealDJblaze, if i have it plugged into my computer will it play through the computer speakers, which are harman/kardon soundsticks 3, also if i took those speakers and put a 3mm to 1/4 inch adapter and put that into the s2 would that work?

I dj in clubs regularly with an s2 and a x1 and its great and but i don't recommend an s2 for beginners unless you have the cash £££. Im selling a numark Mix Track Pro for a £100 in good condition ,i used it for my first few club gigs and the sound card was good and it did the job pretty well ,it perfect for beginners
i know why this happens. is your deck A of effects 3 different effects while your deck B of effects is just 1 effect? this should be right, so if i am right, the D/W button on deck A doesnt work because it is always on. you must adjust the knob to change the percentage it is in use for the 3 effects. on deck b, the D/W turns on and off, because it is only controlling 1 effect and the light says if the effect is on or not. and the reason why the button under the 1st knob doesnt work is because

if you have any itunes or any other music on your computer you can put it into traktor by dragging the files into traktors folder on your mac or pc.

Yes, you have to press the black FX1 and FX2 buttons at the top of each channel to start the effects.
