They didn't regret it afaik, there's actually some history behind their not great deal with Warner Bros., where they don't get any licensing royalties from the original recordings, so the only way to get paid for their old songs now is to re-record them. They've never been a band ashamed to shill out or anything. There was the Honda Scooters ad, the Pioneer Laserdisc demo, and so on. Mark has scored a ton of commercials, including one for Hawaiian Punch and those Get a Mac commercials.
@@stapler942 They actually viewed it as letting “Big Brother” promote them to the very people “It” was trying to keep from being exposed to a band like Devo.
god why am i here voluntarily
😂😂😂😴
cuz u need swiffer
Me tbh
voluntarily, but NOT consciously.
Destiny
Swiffer will never have a better commercial than this one
Here 2021
Best commercial ever made
This is where I first heard the song
Joe Yaroch same. As a result, I keep thinking of this commercial
I was at the June 24, 1979 concert in Vancouver. PNE Garden Auditorium
my favorite Swiffer wet jet commercial
My girlfriend had never heard "Whip It." When I had her listen to it she could only sing these lyrics. Devo is ruined for all time for me.
😂😂😂
Your girlfriend is a keeper. Never let her go.
real dishwasher
Oddly enough, that's actually Devo performing the Swiffer version.
@@DoubleM-hf6ih I should have known then and there that she wasn't for me, we broke up shorty after this.
And now, Devo is back, with the Doritos Dips commercial!
This commercial is over 20 years old. Those goth kids are almost the mom's age by now.
I always wonder how much it cost them to license this
ALWAYS???!
Whip it? Never heard that song before. But this right here, I’ve been listening to this for years. Lmao
I vaguely remember this
This is hard to swallow.
Get schwifty!!
why did they do this😭
They completely regret it
@@pseudoshaman why did they regret it?

Because it played well into the idea of sociocultural de-evolution that was the fundamental ideology of the band's music?

At least this model is smoking hot.

I look at the kids in the video and god they don't know chango what the flipflop

Is that Weird AL singing?
No; DEVO actually did the special version of Whip It for the commercial themselves.
No, that's Devo (the band who sang "Whip It")
James Lampert Mark Mothersbaugh to be exact
@@jonmcintyre1144 I recall him saying that in retrospect he regretted doing it.
@@frotz661 Yeah Devo said they severely regret this
I hope it's not genetic
Yeah.
If only swifter mops worked. But no they suck. Entertaining commercials.
