It's super disappointing to know that you are using generative AI to design your shirts when you could easily hire a human artist. I'm not complaining about the thumbnail images, just the shirts. Will you be cool with movie studios firing everyone and just having AI create movies?
I love "Near Dark," I saw it in the theater as a teen. This movie was a "Aliens" cast reunion. Bill Paxton (Hicks), Jenette Goldstein (Vasquez) and Lance Henrikson (Bishop). For me, it was also the first vampire material to address the dilemma of an old vampire being trapped in a kids body.
Tubi is great. Here are some other classic (and not so classic) movies they have: The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984) Rollerball (1975) (I must watch) Scarface (1983) The Maltese Falcon (1941) Logan's Run (1976) The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) The Boys from Brazil (1978) Harper (1966) (William Goldman's first screenplay) Bullitt (1968) (best car chase in the history of cinema) Hooper (1978) The Lighthouse (1984) (this is the other one but I think it is better) The Usual Suspects (1995) Assault on Precinct 13 Ford vs. Ferrari (2019) The Bad Seed (1956) A Day At The Races (1937) It Came From Outer Space (1953) The Road (2009) A Town Like Alice (1956) The Great Escape (1963) The Woman in the Window (1945) The Taking of Pelham 123 (1974) (This is the version to watch) Bad Boys (1983) (Not the Will Smith/Martin Lawrence one) Mysterious Island (1961) 8 Million Ways to Die (1986) (If you like Body Heat you will like this) C.H.U.D. (1984) The Island of Dr. Moreau (1978) (This version is pretty good) The Point (1971) (family friendly) The Blue Bird (1940) (Shirley Temple, family friendly with a good message). Angel (1984) Bitten (2009)
Rollerball isn’t really about Rollerball, but about how Money Power Fascism deals with sport athlete threats for the popular mind… Rollerball was scientifically designed as it was for a reason.
Add "Blue Ruin" to your list. The chase in "French Connection" rivals that of "Bullitt" might even be better? Actually, when you include "C.H.U.D." it makes me question your entire list. LOL. Just kidding. Most of your picks are great films.
What I love about Near Dark is that no one mentions the word Vampire once. It's great horror western and one of the best Vampire movies ever made. Also, Way Of The Gun is a great flick and I know that gun fight you were mentioning, it's pretty great, love this list.
_Near Dark_ is my favourite vampire movie; the word vampire is never once used, Bill Paxton's Severn ties as his best character with his marine role in _Aliens,_ from which the _Near Dark_ head vampires, Lance Henrikson and Jeanette Nolan also hale...
Tubi is also a treasure trove of content if you’re into classic Hong Kong cinema. They have so much stuff - a lot of it that you can’t get on physical media here in the States.
I love your analysis of movies. Really top notch. The Way of the Gun, is actually in my Top 10 movies.. so glad you liked the film to, great shootouts, and the beginning is a riot. Keep up the great work.
Back in the old days of actual video tape, I had an arrangement with my local video store where for a set fee a month, they would deliver two movies a day to my house, as I'm pretty much housebound and work from home. The manager loved the weird and wonderful, so I've seen so many on this list, and remember with huge fondness the strange and bizarre movies as well as the classics and blockbusters from the nineties and oughties. Indie movies have so much going for them if you are courageous enough to explore them and decide not to follow the crowd. I discovered so many classics, like 8-Legged Freaks - one of my all time favourites - through that system. I count 12 of your countdown on my favourites list
I just watched your first two movies yesterday (Deception & The Brass Teapot) and liked both, and even though I pay for Netflix, I end up watching the movies on Tubi (for free) a lot more often...
The great thing about Tubi is that it has a big enough catalog that its very rare that you can't find a movie to suit whatever mood you're in. And there are tons of movies hanging out in there that I haven't seen since I was a kid that I appreciate so much more now as an adult.
That was a great FLICK CONNECTION Darren. Loved Last Man Standing and Point Blank is another top favourite. Many thanks for sharing with us, much appreciated. All the best to you all and Peanut 👍👍👍
Runaway Jury is my very favorite courtroom/action movie. I had no idea is was written by John Grisham. John Cusack and Rachel Weisz are great, as are Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman. Best Hackman I've seen in years!
Great vid as always, man! In your overview of Runaway Jury, it reminded me that in New Orleans, there's this one singular building that's used over and over to simulate courts, senate hearings, and an innumerable number of other scenes that require that kind of institutional decor and design... getting a movie extra gig is super easy in NOLA, and it's fun, but it doesn't pay enough (the days can get long as hell, too). Also, I was born in Jackson, MS, hopped to Louisiana as a toddler, and spent a lot of time hanging out from Woodville to McComb... even went to school in Centerveille. Awesome to see a fellow dirty south homie doing good things. Now I'm even more hyped on your channel, lol. Cheers, fam.
I can't believe I missed out on a Bill Paxton, Tim Thomerson flick. Just started watching "Near Dark," hope it's good. Music by Tangerine Dream, are you kidding me??
Thanks. I watch Tubi more than any other service. Their catalog of older sci-if, fantasy is fantastic. Have to disagree on The Getaway. Peckinpah’s I prefer.
I remember really enjoying Last Man Standing, granted it isn't as good as Yojimbo or A Fist Full of Dollars, but it was still a pretty solid version on the theme. Way of the Gun was definitely an underrated film when it came out. But so much fun to see in the theatre.
No, the Golden Age is over. Used to have no corporate ads, and just the weirdest things people would but ad space for, while it also didn’t put up edited soft core movies, along with junk, made for a few thousand dollars, and with a group of friends.
I’ve seen a few of these but definitely Near Dark stands out as my favourite and best vampire movie of all time. Really hoping it gets a 4k scan someday.
Near Dark is the best modern vampire movie, outside of Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance is my favorite of the 'vengeance trilogy' of Park Chan Wook! Good list!
I've seen Accident Man, and it was pretty good. Satisfied my 'action' needs. There's also "Accident Man: Hitman's Holiday" (2022). Slightly better, but a little more focused in the story. Again, satisfying. Last Man Standing is one of my favorites. Very fun.
Some good films on that list. 'Match Point' really does have a Hitchcock style, though I don't know if it's little know. 'The Way of the Gun' is really fun. 'Point Blank' is interesting, and I like Lee Marvin. And 'Near Dark' is an overlook moody vampire film.
Great episode! I've only seen Teeth, Border, Near Dark and Way of the Gun (and possibly After Hours). Am surprised I haven't seen Raw Deal. Maybe I have and just don't remember because I love Commando. So hokey and mega-violent. 😄Looking forward to checking out the others! I sent your sponsor link to a friend who can afford and will buy special food for his dog.
Hey Darren thanks again, as you know very hard to find stuff on Tubi a lot of the time. Better you than me , so So stoked to see that Point Blank is on now. A film I always wanted to see. I have read some much about and it sounds right up my tree. I just saw one from the same era that blew me away : Get Carter, man ultra hardcore crime film. Also I was wondering if you could do a show on Shudder. Lastly thanks for showing us your handsome dog Peanut.
Tubi is definitely the best with ads streaming service. It has the least ads and they also interrupt the content in the right time instead of interrupting in the middle of a scene.Their content library is vast with something for everyone.
I actually have a Matt's Movie List that I have been giving to my clients at my hair Salon since the 1990s and I update it all the time. My Top 4 on my list are FRESH from 1994, THE FOUNTAIN by Darren Aronofsky, DANCER IN THE DARK with Bjork and THE WAY OF THE GUN. I love it. I can email you the list
The Brass Teapot sounds similar to the Creepshow TV segment from season 1... The Man In The Suitcase. Raw Deal is my favorite non sci-fi movie ever. Maybe top 2 or 3 Arnie flick.
Hey Darren! Before I watch the rest of this vid I just wanted to let you in on a hidden gem I just found, its a movie called We Are Zombies. A horror comedy a bit like Zombie Land but it has a very original plotline and really awesome moments, must watch

Accident Man RULES!
It's super disappointing to know that you are using generative AI to design your shirts when you could easily hire a human artist. Supporting a company that stole from artists when the channel is about films, an art form that you obviously value, is a strange choice. I'm not complaining about the thumbnail images, just the shirts.
Will you be cool with movie studios firing everyone and just having AI create movies?
hey @DarrenVanDam who is the person or what movie are they from on the thumbnail for this video please?
I love "Near Dark," I saw it in the theater as a teen. This movie was a "Aliens" cast reunion. Bill Paxton (Hicks), Jenette Goldstein (Vasquez) and Lance Henrikson (Bishop). For me, it was also the first vampire material to address the dilemma of an old vampire being trapped in a kids body.
After Hours is utterly fantastic. I've only ever seen it once and I've recently had the itch to watch it again; I think this is my sign to do so.
SURRENDER DOROTHY! SURRENDER DOROTHY!
I rewatched it, about a two weeks ago.
After years, I find things, both forgotten and never noticed before.

Near Dark is one of the best Vampire movies ever made. Kathryn Bigelow directed
Better than "Let the Right One In" (Swedish film), wow.
Thanks for covering Tubi... please don't stop. It is my main source.
Tubi is great. Here are some other classic (and not so classic) movies they have:
The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984)
Rollerball (1975) (I must watch)
Scarface (1983)
The Maltese Falcon (1941)
Logan's Run (1976)
The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)
The Boys from Brazil (1978)
Harper (1966) (William Goldman's first screenplay)
Bullitt (1968) (best car chase in the history of cinema)
Hooper (1978)
The Lighthouse (1984) (this is the other one but I think it is better)
The Usual Suspects (1995)
Assault on Precinct 13
Ford vs. Ferrari (2019)
The Bad Seed (1956)
A Day At The Races (1937)
It Came From Outer Space (1953)
The Road (2009)
A Town Like Alice (1956)
The Great Escape (1963)
The Woman in the Window (1945)
The Taking of Pelham 123 (1974) (This is the version to watch)
Bad Boys (1983) (Not the Will Smith/Martin Lawrence one)
Mysterious Island (1961)
8 Million Ways to Die (1986) (If you like Body Heat you will like this)
C.H.U.D. (1984)
The Island of Dr. Moreau (1978) (This version is pretty good)
The Point (1971) (family friendly)
The Blue Bird (1940) (Shirley Temple, family friendly with a good message).
Angel (1984)
Bitten (2009)
a shot in the dark, north by northwest, so many classics like your list watch TUBI more then netflix.
Rollerball isn’t really about Rollerball, but about how Money Power Fascism deals with sport athlete threats for the popular mind…
Rollerball was scientifically designed as it was for a reason.

@@tarico4436 CHUD is a classic. Not great but a classic.
@@tarico4436 Never seen Blue Ruin will have to watch it. French Connection and Bullitt are 2 of my favorites.

If you like Near Dark check out Bitten (2009) It is on Tubi
Agreed. The soundtrack is awesome too. Tangerine Dream mostly.
@@DavoInMelbourne Tangerine Dream also did the soundtrack for Sorcerer, one of my all time favorite movies.
_Near Dark_ is my favourite vampire movie; the word vampire is never once used, Bill Paxton's Severn ties as his best character with his marine role in _Aliens,_ from which the _Near Dark_ head vampires, Lance Henrikson and Jeanette Nolan also hale...
'What about Bob?' is on Tubi as well. Under rated Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss comedy.
An additional pleasure with Near Dark is how it reunites some of the cast members from Aliens.
Tubi is also a treasure trove of content if you’re into classic Hong Kong cinema. They have so much stuff - a lot of it that you can’t get on physical media here in the States.
on "The Way of the Gun" the names Ryan Phlllipe gives at the start, Parker and Longbaugh, are the names of Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid
I really liked the brass tea pot!!!After hours!! Loved it!!!Worlds Fastest Indian!!!Thanks for the recommendations!!
Thank you for spotlighting Match Point. That is one of my all-time favorite films.
I love your analysis of movies. Really top notch. The Way of the Gun, is actually in my Top 10 movies.. so glad you liked the film to, great shootouts, and the beginning is a riot. Keep up the great work.
Recently watched Bruce Dern in Nebraska. Such an actor! Such a great movie! Keep up your great recommendations!!

Your channel is my number one source for movie pics. I never miss a vid. Thank you for all that you do, man.
Way of the gun has one of my favourite opening scenes ever. Best intro to characters. Finally seeing some love.
"I don't know that there's a single laugh in this movie"...So it IS a Woody Allen movie.
I'm looking forward to watching those classic earlier films .
Your choices have always been superb !
The opening scene to The Way of the Gun is hilariously insane haha
I just watched your first two movies yesterday (Deception & The Brass Teapot) and liked both, and even though I pay for Netflix, I end up watching the movies on Tubi (for free) a lot more often...

Also they had the original ET before it was butchered. I know that because it was advertised as such. My 4K is totally different
TUBI is a BIG surpise!!! Especially appreciate their advertisement practice...high quality, played to completion and with longer time between ads.
Bloody Hell is a fantastic horror comedy movie running on Tubi rn. Highly underrated
Same folks that did Nekrotronic? That’s gonna be on my next Prime list.
That first moment in Way of the Gun. HILARIOUS. Great call D.V.D.
Near Dark is a masterpiece. Sympathy for Mr vengeance is great
LOVE Way of the Gun!!! Completely underrated!
That was a great FLICK CONNECTION Darren. Loved Last Man Standing and Point Blank is another top favourite. Many thanks for sharing with us, much appreciated. All the best to you all and Peanut 👍👍👍
Great show man. Keep it up.
The brass teapot was pretty funny and kinda cool.
Runaway Jury is my very favorite courtroom/action movie. I had no idea is was written by John Grisham.
John Cusack and Rachel Weisz are great, as are Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman. Best Hackman I've seen in years!
The best movie based on a Grisham novel is A Time to Kill, but that's just my opinion.
Great vid as always, man!

Last Man Standing is John Wick before John Wick. Great movie, seen it several times. One of my fav Bruce Willis movies.
I can't believe I missed out on a Bill Paxton, Tim Thomerson flick. Just started watching "Near Dark," hope it's good. Music by Tangerine Dream, are you kidding me??
Right? and how cool did that movie look for a dark movie from 1987?
I really like these reviews that touch on the lesser watched video services like Tubi, Pluto, etc. thanks
After Hours is one of my all-time favorites!
The Brass Teapot was good. Thanks for the suggestion!
I went to Burt Munro's motocycle museum in Invercargill New Zealand, very cool.
Thanks. I watch Tubi more than any other service. Their catalog of older sci-if, fantasy is fantastic.
Have to disagree on The Getaway. Peckinpah’s I prefer.
Near Dark - great recommendation! Enjoyed it. Thanks Van Dam!
Thats why tubi is the best streaming service ever
thank you for reminding me of the awesomeness of 'The Way of the Gun'. Ocean Springs is better than the Pass...
"Way of the Gun" is definitely fun, and I love "Raw Deal!" I've watched a lot of old movies but never caught "Point Blank." Great list, man!
You’ll love it
I remember really enjoying Last Man Standing, granted it isn't as good as Yojimbo or A Fist Full of Dollars, but it was still a pretty solid version on the theme.
Way of the Gun was definitely an underrated film when it came out. But so much fun to see in the theatre.
Walter Hill was a writer on both versions of The Getaway and the director of Last Man Standing.
Border is SO good. Like Marty with trolls. And Sympathy for Mr Vengeance might be the most heart wrenching revenge movie ever.
Tubi is experiencing a golden age. It’s going to be depressing when something happens to it.
Like they start focusing on original content.
Bought out by a private equity company who calls it a dying brand in need of revitalization in line with their ESG values in 5…4…3…
No, the Golden Age is over.
Used to have no corporate ads, and just the weirdest things people would but ad space for, while it also didn’t put up edited soft core movies, along with junk, made for a few thousand dollars, and with a group of friends.
That would be devastating
"Hey, that's a really nice movie channel you got there. Would be shame if anything happened to it"
Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.
I’ve seen a few of these but definitely Near Dark stands out as my favourite and best vampire movie of all time. Really hoping it gets a 4k scan someday.
I’ve enjoyed all of your content thus far, keep on keepin on.
Much appreciated reviews that save us a lot of time. My only wonder is, how do you get the time????
that opening scene in "Way of the Gun" is great!
especially the first time you see it.
Not sure about any of these movies but I do like Running Scared and I think I will go watch that as it's been years. I may even own a DVD of it
Way of the Gun is astonishingly good! I haven't seen that or Near Dark in far too long. Thanks for letting me know they're on tubi!
thanks for listing the other networks beyond tubi, really appreciate it, you rock
In my humble opinion this is one of your best videos good job 🤟
Near Dark is a a definite good use of movie time
. It's a hoot.
Very fun.

Nice T-shirt Hard Eight shout out.
Fantastic fukn little movie.
Oh hell yeah, Near Dark! I’ve been looking to stream this for ages.
Tubi is easily the best place to go for quality titles especially when it comes to 80s and 90s retro movies! I love it!
Tubi has some gems. I recommend "Katie Says Goodbye." Quite heart-wrenching.
I just watched Near Dark before seeing this video. I’ve been waiting for years for this to appear on any streaming platform.
Near Dark is one of the best, and most under rated, vampire movies out there. Yet another great video! Keep them coming!
Near Dark is awesome, especially for when it came out. I remember watching it as a young teenager and loving it.
Just saw 'Sukiyaki Western Django' again last night and was worth a second viewing!
Quinton Tarantino
I will second After Hours . I saw it in the theater as a kid and didn’t get it until years later. Rewatching now on you’re recommendation
Thanks for another great episode. I’ve made so many people watch Way of the Gun!
Which movie is the thumbnail from?
good question
Does anyone know?
Teeth (2007)
The gynecologist is just about to discover what sets Dawn apart from the other girls.
Thanks for the list. I'm going to add a bunch to my list
I finally watched Last man standing the other day and I wondered where to get guns that never run out of bullets.
The Border was pretty good too!
Great recommendation video. I've been using Tubi more frequently lately.
Love it when you do these Tubi videos!!
You did not mention The Last Dragon. Love Tubi, love flix connection
I love Last Man Standing. I've been looking for this, on and off, for quite a while.
Tubi is definitely the best with ads streaming service. It has the least ads and they also interrupt the content in the right time instead of interrupting in the middle of a scene.Their content library is vast with something for everyone.
I also loved The Way Of The Gun.
Bad Milo,Teeth,Pusher and Point Blank are great movies i hope netflix in Europe had them i would watch them all again and again
Just watched "A Haunted House"-it's a fun ride, seen most of these movies TUBI has great stuff old and new do not miss cable.
"way of the gun" ..is the best movie on this list, imo .. I loved it. I own it on DVD.
Tubi have the better movies, but they come with ads. Netflix gets the W with no ads for me.
Thanks for your reviews and helping us find good movies on all new streaming services!!!! Subbed and liked sir. Cheers
Border is a memorable film, to say the least. I've only seen it once, but it's still on my mind all these years later.
Way of the gun is a stellar flick
The exchange with Sarah Silverman's character and Ryan Phillippe's is hilarious 😂😂😂
The Way of the Gun has one of the best car chases I've ever seen.
Sitting in south Mississippi watching this actually
