Depends on the context but you are correct. In both cases you are learning to drive but one is learning like a robot and one is learning to drive with comfortable flow.
Congrats on the new car Raajan, PIn looked so sad and shocked. After passing I admit, it is easy to get a bit lazy with driving as there is no one there to correct you, and especially when the roads are not as busy, but I know its important to be constantly alert, aware and reflect after every drive about how I can improve and keep to a good driving standard.
Love his brutal honesty throughout! I initially passed when I was 21. My instructor was very similar to PIn in many ways. Towards the end of my first 2 years of passing I had my license revoked for speeding, of all places on the motorway! I had picked up a lot of bad habits typically people pick up after driving alone, some similar to Raaj. I didn't retake my driving test until last year in March 22 (waited over 10 years) due to thinking I am a poor driver and would only cause myself and the general public more trouble in the long run. I have been driving for over a year now and Pins advice is spot on. ' For the first 2 years continue to drive the way you did during your lessons'. That is very sound advice. By then you are sure to be a lot more safer of a driver. Some habits you won't be able to get rid of. Like the one hand on the steering wheel. I am guilty of that too! Honestly just always focus on your speed depending on the situation you encounter and all should be fine is my personal opinion. Been watching DGN driving for a few years now and thanks to Pin for all the informative as well as entertaining content you provide us with! Keep up the good work and Raaj avoid the boy racers and you will be fine. You seem a smart lad anyway!

I passed today with only 2 minors. I’m just making the rounds to my favourite driving channels to say thank you so much for the help. My instructor was brilliant and taught me well and these RUclips channels helped me learn between lessons. So, again, a BIG THANK YOU to DGN/Pin!
Congratulations for passing, that's fantastic news WELL DONE!! I have my test in December so do you have any really helpful tips? So excited and nervous 😂
@@ricardoportwood39 Oh boy, I was terrified for mine. I have autism and anxiety so… ugh, it was terrible. But, it really isn’t as bad as you think it is. The examiner I got was a lovely, friendly woman who chatted to me about dogs and laughed at my crap jokes. Couldn’t believe it when she said I passed. My advice is to just go in their with a smile, be polite and try to chat. Use small talk and find something you both enjoy then talk about it. I found out she had seven dogs and I have three and love them so I spent at least 25 minutes just talking about dogs and pet care. I also made a lot of jokes to help ease the tension. I just joked about being nervous. I asked her about how her tests usually go and that I, sarcastically, hoped she’d had nothing but bad drivers so that my driving would look amazing in comparison. I’m a very ‘funny’ individual and I always make jokes and enjoy making people laugh. Another tip is to do commentary driving. Let them know what you’re planning to do and what you’re doing currently. For example, I had cyclists in front of me and I just said “There’s a cyclist in front of me but I won’t overtake as we are going up hill and I can not see if the road is clear.” As soon as the road was clear I said “The road is clear. I am now going to overtake the cyclist, I’m checking my middle and right mirror, giving him a wide amount of space. Checking my middle and left mirror as I pull back into my lane.” It lets them know you know what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. Not just doing what you’ve been told, you’re actually using your own judgement. And lastly, if the examiner strikes a conversation and starts chatting… they are comfortable in the car with you driving. I hope this helped. I swear, it’s not as bad as what your mind is thinking. It’s pretty much like a driving lesson. Just drive as you normally do, just don’t try and rush. If there’s cars parked on the side, go slow. If you see a hazard ahead or a roundabout you aren’t fully comfortable on, slow down and give yourself that extra time to think. I wish you luck my friend. ♥️

I passed my test with one minor yesterday over a stupid mistake and I am SO relieved, happy and proud of myself! Thank you Pin for these videos and all the helpful tips over this last year, they have really helped me to keep my knowledge up between lessons. :)
Pin is completely correct! Raaj is confident and very aware of his surroundings. When I first passed I had similar habits, such as taking corners way to fast, being very harsh on the brakes and steering with one hand. I have been driving now for 4 years and am 21, and I drive much better to how I used to. Keep up the good work Pin. Be safe out there Raaj and don’t fall into too many bad habits in case you lose your license in the first 2 years and have to resit your test. You’ll be fine though as you seem to have the right mindset.
I passed third time with a help of your channel. Bought a car I always wanted-automatic A1 within a week of passing. Definitely picked a lot of bad habits to the point I got caught speeding on the motorway. Got away with a speeding course but was an eye-opener for me. So going to be using your advice now about driving like I am in the lesson for the first two years
Its really easy to get overcomfident once you have passed. I also take turns somewhat faster and maybe skip some observations once in a while if i have seen that its clear before i reach the turn. You just have more freedom and dont think so much about everything when an instructor is not monitoring your every move.
Easiest way to avoid over confidence is to drive an absolute shit box. These newer cars make driving so easy- you could use the steering wheel with one finger on this car.
@@adamek9750I had a shitbox for 6 months had my new one for 6 months now and I find my self steering the car with my knees at time cause its so easy to steer it 🤣
Poor Pin, he was gutted! I passed almost two weeks ago, I’m 48. I brought myself a 2014 Fiesta Titanium Eco boost. I love my car, I always wanted a Fiesta.. I’m so easily pleased!! I’ve named her Flo the Fiesta 😍😂
Congratulations for your drivers license. I also drive a Ford Fiesta Titanium and I love this car. So smooth to ride (oh, and I’ve had my license for over 40 years 😂).
Not to be rude but I'm curious..why did it take so long to get a driving licence?..48 is crazy. As soon as I was old enough my parents were on my case😂
Honestly, the driving habits Raajan shows in this video are so poor. His speed is way to quick into areas of high risk, such are narrow roads with parked cars and junctions. He's thrown his steering technique out of the window, which isn't always a problem, personally I don't see a problem with wax on/wax off when maneuvering, but on junctions you should push pull or cross your hands, either is not a problem with me. I prefer push pull but will occasionally cross my hand, just whichever feels natural at the time. Coasting around corners is a bad habit indeed, but Pin has already touched on this in the video. Some of the poor lane discipline seems to be caused by his quick speed for me. Having 1 hand on the steering is okay, as long as when risk increases you put both hands back on the wheel and are prepared to deal with any issues. It's okay to enjoy the car you drive, I do the same and I am an enthusiast of driving, but your number 1 responsibility on the roads is to be safe. Remember that driving a car is no joke, you can kill or be killed and anyone involved in that accident would have their life changed forever.
This is probably the best video of the year for me. Raajan had me rolling on the floor laughing when he reversed while the door was opened like that and the way he played it down too🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Joking aside congratulations to him on his beautiful first car, I hope he takes good care of it. 🎉🎊
Congrats Raajan, your car is a beauty! We passed around the same time and I also got my dream first car, a silver Citroen C3 (2011 reg, automatic, 1.6lt) Hoping in a few years to get a newer model as I really love it!!!
Hi Pin just wanted to let you know I'm apart of the drivers who have passed, passed yesterday with 3 minors. You're mock tests were super helpful so just wanted to let you know to keep up the sick videos 💯🙏🏾
Just wondering how come you have never done a video with Taz and her first car? And how she is getting on with driving? Would be to hear how she's getting on
I passed my test about 6 weeks ago first time. The only bad habit I've picked up is one handed steering at times, only if I'm on a dual carriageway, round my local town 9/10 I'm still driving very similar to how my instructor taught me :) My first car is a 53 Reg Ford Fiesta 1.2, insurance is around £1500
@@MSalim21 I am a first driver yes, no black box on my policy as my cheapest price for my car was £4000 and I couldn’t afford that. The insurance is through my parents Multicar Policy discount but I’m the primary main driver as it’s my own policy. I build my own no claims discount up too but with the exception of not being able to drive their cars unless I pay extra for short term insurance
Passed in November 2022, after 4 tries 😂 My first First car is DS 3 Crossback. Practicing in it almost daily then taking my test in it was definitely the reason i passed. The 3 tests prior to that i was going out once a week with my instructor in her and took first 3 tests in her car.
after i passed i had to wait a year to get my car due to no money. during that year i was watching your videos and have always kept thme in mid so when i got my car i kept many of the things i learned when i drive but i know i sometimes still do make mistakes. i try to correct them as i dont want to crash. your videos have been of great help even now after 2 years of driving i still watch your video so always remember and learn
I guessed Golf MK7 from inside (the way the window line looked and the mirror shape) but I wasn't expecting some mods on the car! Certainly looks like a great car :D
I passed my test in October 2021 and bought my first car in June 2022. It's a Toyota Yaris from 2009, It had just over 100.000KM on it. So far it's been great, AC works and only had to add the oil and replace the city lights once.
Passed my driving test June 2021 got my tayota yaris T3 2008 in August 2021 on 66k mileage. Still got it with the mileage being 89k and gunna keep it till august 2024. Just can’t go wrong with a Yaris very reliable, cheap to maintain, wicked on fuel. Never fails on you.
i had a toyota aygo for my 1st car after passing but only lasted 6 months had a cooling problem and then MOT just has more problems then now got a mazda 2 ts2
Wow Raajan, thats a really nice whip. So proud of seeing you go from a learner to a confident driver. I think everyone picks up habits but they aren't all bad as long as you keep safe. My car is a renault clio 09 plate 1.2 litre petrol and i honestly love it so much. All the parts are cheap, recently had an MOT and passed with no advisories to say the car is 13 years old thats pretty good going😆
passed my driving test on 3rd August , 1st time . My instructor was amazing and also, your videos were really helpful, Pin. Thanks . Still, watching every single uploads , different satisfaction after watching these after passing tbh.
Accident waiting to happen..... I passed nearly two years ago and while i have picked up bad habits (speeding, non-excessive mirror checks) i still drive similar to how i was taught. I'm 31 so youth plays a part i reckon. Thank God for black boxes protecting us all.
I agree, after watching him during lessons to how he drives now I'd bet he'll end up writing that car off within the next 9 months if that standard of driving keeps up.
Pretty quick turnabout for bad habits - but I think it's all a case of confidence and maybe being a bit cocky having a nice first car. I passed in 2020 amidst all of the COVID rearranging. I think the only bad habit I remember from the first few months was doing; Clutch then brake, not brake then clutch when slowing down and stopping - I still catch myself doing it now sometimes, but I imagine I've got a few more bad habits now, but I don't think they're dangerous or unsafe - moreso just quirks like one handed driving, wax-on wax-off in manouvers etc. First car was a Seat Ibiza FR 1.2tsi, so the same engine as Raajs' golf, and was paying around £2000 for my first year insurnace with no black box. I still have the Ibiza but feel ready for something more powerful, but don't want to lose the car as I've been all over Scotland in it and have the memories and 'first car feeling'. Advice to Raaj, enjoy the car, but come back down to earth a bit with the overconfidence and lack of observations. Keep yourself and everyone safe, and keep the car safe!
Lovely car that! He's become a lot more confident in his driving. I think it's a completely different ball game when you drive your own car instead of the learner car. That independence makes you far more confident on the road, but yeah, that also comes with a few habits I guess lol. Things like pulling out of junctions/roundabouts become more second nature in your own car I feel. Parking is still a bit of a nightmare for me though 😅 always nervous when its a busy car park. Great video and was good to see Raajan again!
As someone that's learning to drive and have driven on public roads around five times now with my mum, I've ran into a lot of idiots already -_- when people get their licence they just start doing whatever they want and don't care about core basic safety or rules of the road. It's not deterring me from driving but it is an eye opener considering that all of the basics are still fresh in my mind at the moment, so I can quickly see the faults of all of these drivers I come across that simply just don't care about the rules. The licence is to show you know how to drive safely and properly, not a licence to forget everything you've learnt and do whatever you want. Nice car though, I'm thinking about a Golf or a Corsa for my first car, nothing too big or flashy, I just want something cheap to run around in for the first few years that can get me from A to B. Repairs and part availability is a big factor too and as I'm 31, my insurance hopefully won't be too high!
@@SimonBauer7 I forgot to add a Focus as one of the cars I'm also looking at, when the time comes I'll be looking into them a little deeper and get advice from family. Thanks though 👌🏻 only just starting paid lessons and haven't done my theory yet so plenty of time 🙂

Raj all the best with your driving, do take care and don't speed! I'm afraid a bit of arrogance and overconfidence has crept into his driving and I can only attribute it to him being a youngster. Dial it back kid, and be safe. My First car was a Hyundai i10.
I mean, he could have at least tried to drive a bit closer to how he did during the lessons. Nice car though, won't lie I'm a bit jealous he was able to get a 6.5k car with 2.5k insurance as a first car. It's nice.
I bought my little red polo and I really wanted a Renault Clio. But, i couldnt recommend a polo more for a first car. You can get one that aren’t too fast so it’s easy to stick to speed limits, it’s super easy to park and boot space is insane for such a small car. There’s so many good things about it if anyone wants to know anything about polos I’ll be happy to help out :)
Tbh I loved my little 108 it got me through my test and then when I insured it fully with business usage too it cost about £800. It was a great runaround and had the things you want from a car such as Bluetooth, five doors and air con
I dont think Rajan's a bad driver at all, these habits aren't the best but I didn't notice anything where he was unsafe. I guess its mainly because he is aware of the safer ways to do things but chooses not to is the bigger problem. Feels bad for Pin tho haha but congrats Raj on the sick whip
Hilarious how brazenly not open to feedback he was 🙈🙈 "You want me to help you with a reference point?" "Nah I'll just keep driving with my head out the open car door."
A lot of people have the belief that having a car means freedom where it’s really the opposite, as you’re bound by external payments that you have pay to maintain or place your car. Let me put it in perspective👇 Here's a list of the payments one may have to make when owning a car in the UK: 1. Purchase price 2. Vehicle tax (road tax) 3. Insurance 4. Fuel 5. Maintenance and repairs 6. Parking fees 7. Financing payments (if applicable) 8. Tolls 9. Car washes 10. Accessories These are some of the common expenses associated with owning a car in the UK.
Ngl even if i drive my own way.... out of respect for my instructor..i wouldve drove a little bit more "safer"..2 hands on the wheel, better observation, no coasting etc..just to make pin feel better and look better to the veiwers watching...bro was lowkey disrespectful😂

My insurance was about £65 a month. 2 and a half years on, I now have a 2015 1.2l Hyundai i20 which is about £130 a month plus £58 a month for my insurance. I never would buy a brand new car when you first pass your driving test. But I guess that's just me. I had built up 2 years NCB on my Honda Jazz, by the time I passed my test. Nice set of wheels, Raajan. Stay safe & happy driving!

I passed July ‘22 and my first car (and still my current car) is a Vauxhall Corsa Energy. 2019 plate which i (controversial) bought on finance. Because of this this car is my baby and i drive it very very carefully not to damage it, and in a year the only damage to the car is a slight scuff on an alloy, I must say you do slack in the things your instructor teaches and do pick up habits such as coasting, and sloppier observations but I haven’t picked up the head out the door one 😂
I passed 7 months ago. I would say I have a few ‘bad habits’ driving with one hand and one hand on the gear stick and not always blind spot checks. But I was told by the examiner I was a good driver but I hesitate too much, as now I will just take a gap when I know I can take it rather than overthinking it. Also I may go over the speed limit by 1mph but always realise and bring it back down. I’d like to think I’m a good & safe driver!

Wow Raajan has come a long way. Drives really relaxed but aware at the same time. The type of driver I want to be. Excellent stuff Pin.
I passed my test with one minor yesterday over a stupid mistake and I am SO relieved, happy and proud of myself! Thank you Pin for these videos and all the helpful tips over this last year, they have really helped me to keep my knowledge up between lessons. :)
Pin definitely not proud today . Rajan bro , I wish we all could see a bit humbleness.
I have passed second time with 5 minors. I am so happy I can watch these videos in the passes group! Good luck to all of you doing the driving test!
@@adamek9750 I agree. I would be driving an old Fiat Panda.

Been watching these videos for years now and yesterday I finally passed with only 2 minors. Thank you Pin!
Lovely first car!!
Nova 1.4 SR was my first...take me back great times.
I switched to hand over hand steering over push pull personally. 1 handed steering is just for the street cred imo

Congrats Raajan, your car is a beauty!
We passed around the same time and I also got my dream first car, a silver Citroen C3 (2011 reg, automatic, 1.6lt)

Most black boxes are a massive scam.
He drives fine. Chill out lmao.
literally what i want my first car to be, fair play to the lad, he's earnt it.
Repairs and part availability is a big factor too and as I'm 31, my insurance hopefully won't be too high!
dont buy a golf. maybe a corsa as these are cheaper.

A lot of people have the belief that having a car means freedom where it’s really the opposite, as you’re bound by external payments that you have pay to maintain or place your car.
Let me put it in perspective👇
Here's a list of the payments one may have to make when owning a car in the UK:
1. Purchase price
2. Vehicle tax (road tax)
3. Insurance
4. Fuel
5. Maintenance and repairs
6. Parking fees
7. Financing payments (if applicable)
8. Tolls
9. Car washes
10. Accessories
These are some of the common expenses associated with owning a car in the UK.
