This was very informative and brought me back to a deeper study of my decision for Jesus. I didn’t become a Christian until well into my 20’s and I am thankful that it was the Adventist Church that led me to Jesus. I didn’t want to be an Adventist because of everything out there and what I had heard, but when going to other churches they struggled using the Bible alone. I could not turn my back on the Word, so here I am an Adventist Christian 20 years later. I wasn’t so offended by the word cult, as I was not being acknowledged as a Christian. Who would I be today without Christ! I’m glad you mentioned how many ex-SDA’s have ministries that seem to only focus on disputing or discrediting Adventist beliefs. It’s a strange ministry to me. Because if you have been “freed” and you understand the Great Commission…why the fixation? Jesus says preach the gospel to the whole world. However, these type of ministries have made their commission for debunking the Adventist faith. Their commission seems to be to preach” or “save” or “help” those to claim to keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus. I’m pretty sure Jesus didn’t intend this to be the great commission, right? In my Bible, this commission is the Dragon’s. So I’m confused with their intent. I’ll stick to what the Bible says, I’ll stick to Jesus and pray for all.
So Ellen White is suddenly the Holy Spirit. ?? She’s the one leading you to Christ how come the Holy Spirit of God is not leading you to Christ??? Ellen White acts like she is leading you to the Bible but she leads you to her writings, and leads you to believe a lie. She contradicts the book of Hebrews the WHOLE BOOK! so she doesn’t lead you to the Bible. It is a subtle straying from Gods word into human doctrines. The delusion is very strong. Be warned.

There is evidence...from Genesis to Revelation...why would the devil turn up to corrupt a perfect world if there was no controversy (or beef) with God? Why was there war in heaven if the devil had no controversy with God?

(See SDA’s Fundamental Belief no. 8 for Bible verses) Although EGW’s book is a great breakdown of the Great Controversy, the Great Controversy doctrine is 100% biblical and not something that EGW made up.
Like it or not, everyone has a lens that they have adopted from someone my friend when they view scripture. We just have a lens that works typologically, narratively, literally, spiritually, and consistently through ALL of scripture. It is a lens that we had multiple opportunities to test against nay sayers and they all have been unsuccessful in disproving it from scripture. People who are searching for truth and hear the context often instantly see it makes sense. Is there a controversy between Christ and Satan? Rev 12:7-9 , Does it involves Satan’s desire to be like Him in terms of His rulership? Yep. Isa 14:12-16. After my conversion from Atheism to Christ as a member of the SDA denomination , I knew nothing about Ellen Whites writings for years , I only knew bible and various protestant commentaries. I later began to read her writings and I can tell you, I immediately felt this woman was a modern day Paul. I could not deny her inspiration. Not only did scripture and her writings line up, her insight was mind blowing and had me saying Praise God. You can see in the quality of her writings she instantly separates herself from the pack. Hind sight is 20/20, she has been dead for over 100 years and we can scrutinize everything she ever wrote-and the world has over and over-and she has been vindicated. I am not ashamed to say we had a prophet in our midst. Notwithstanding, she NEVER encouraged her writings to be used in place of scripture, but on the contrary her mission was to lead people to scripture , and to those who heed that call, that is exactly what she does.
These are Christian Entertainers, there’s no need to respond. They are evangelical apologists, spoken word artists, rappers, public speakers, booksellers, theological philosophers. Their ministry is Greco-Roman, not kingdom discipleship. Their success comes from exposure and publishing and sales, not from obedience. Having a conversation about obedience with an actor on a stage is a waste of time. I’m not 7th Day Adventist either, but I spent a lot of time in the evangelical world of Christian Entertainment and Sophistry - it’s a waste of time for a Commandment Keeping Believer.

I agree with you my friend but Adventist need to have a counter narrative. I think there are Christians who may be on the fence about commandment keeping, and a video like this could dispel all the false information.
What was made clear in this video was one of the biggest realizations that I had 20 years ago when I was exposed to Adventism for the first time. Most Christian denominations do not really know what they believe or why they believe it . Adventism does. I got clear BIBLE answers when I asked questions from Adventism . I studied with every kind of Protestant denomination you can think of and was raised Catholic . So when I went back to ask them why they believed what they believed it never added up but they were super quick to attack the Adventists position , but never with scripture only opinions . I was told they were legalists , that they were a cult that they were whatever, but when I tested it for myself ; unequivocally false. Adventist as a denomination are the only ones that preach Bible truth. I was dumbfounded that priests , pastors , and scholars had no real biblical proof for their positions . They only seemed to be true and sounded convincing until they were held up against the actual truth of Gods word. While they may convince many and have very popular churches,tv shows , RUclips channels etc the truth will always be the truth whether you want to believe it or not.

*Certainly the term "cult" is offensive, but so is the label "Apostate". So which is actually worse?* Recall that Adventists have for years and years made their fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord out to be the malevolent bearers of a supposed coming Sunday law. SDAs label these members of the Body of Christ with a variety of derogatory names such as *"the Nominal Churches", "Babylon", "the Daughters of the Whore"* , and either *"Apostate Protestantism" or "Apostate Christians"* (often both). Unfortunately Adventists throw around these terms with little or no thought, but usually only in front of the audience that is sitting in their own pews. In other words the SDAs have gotten away with talking smack about other Christians because they never have opposing views to their doctrines presented. That has all changed nowadays with the advent of the internet. Regarding the label of a cult. I ask "Which is worse, a cult or an apostate?" Recall that the term "apostate" means to have turned ones back on Christ and left the faith. An apostate is in a most abominable place, denying God and renouncing Him. Understand that *one can be a Christian and be in a cult, but one CANNOT be Christian and be an apostate* . Thus Adventists, whether they know it or not, are totally debasing other Christians when they refer to them as apostate. Therefore this name calling and labeling by Adventists is much worse than the label of a cult, and it deserves pushback and rebuke. As long as SDAs keep referring to other Christians in such negative terms, the label of cult will undoubtedly still be applied to the Adventists.

As SDAs we know that just because someone is in another denomination doesn't mean they are nominal or apostate. And just because they go to our church or another church doesn't mean they aren't nominal or apostate. I have never, ever heard any SDA call any member of any church a daughter of the whore, and I don't expect to. In my 63 years as an Adventist it's always been, "We can disagree with this or that teaching, but we don't judge individuals' hearts." We are taught that Babylon means the vast confusion of churches with varying doctrines, and that most of God's true people who will be saved are there. Again, the term "apostate" doesn't necessarily just mean one who has rejected Christ or left their faith. It can mean one who has rejected his or her previous principles, and it isn't even necessarily offensive, as someone can be an apostate from something negative as well. But when someone claims to be Christian while openly rejecting God, or a minister preaches that Christ didn't rise from the dead, or a church completely reverses their beliefs on something that was once a foundational belief for their denomination, I think it's only honest to say they are apostate from their or their church's confession of faith. And that's why you will sometimes hear those terms, because more and more churches or individuals are doing these things. It's not a blanket statement regarding the Body of Christ.
@@carolyn9693 First of all I do not refer to anyone as an "apostate" (or being in apostasy) unless they have actually apostatized from Christ and the Christian faith. It is Seventh-day Adventist that throw around this term carelessly, apparently not knowing what the term "apostasy" actually means. (Please query the meaning for yourself to understand its correct definition). I believe that Adventists use "apostate" incorrectly due in part to their own theology which often pits "Sabbath keepers" against the "Sunday keepers". Since the Protestants will supposedly want to pass a Sunday law which ends up persecuting Seventh-day Adventists, the SDAs, by virtue of such a doctrine, view these current "Sunday keeping" Christians as the bearers of this awful law one day in the future. And since we all certainly understand that no true Christian would ever want to impress a mandated day of worship (that includes the death penalty) upon another Christian, this must mean that these people in the "Nominal Churches" must in fact not be true Christians to begin with, OR that they will somehow fall from God's grace over this matter. Hence the concept of being in "apostasy" is used of other Christians who are supposedly in the PROCESS which ends in being an apostate. Again, this is incorrect usage of a term that should be reserved for its true meaning. If Adventists would choose their words more carefully they might understand that the term "heretical" is a more appropriate word to label these other denominations. One can believe in heretical doctrines and still be a Christian, but one cannot be a Christian and an Apostate at the same time . A Christian Apostate is one who has left the faith and denied Christ.

I'm from Jamaica. What I'll say is that when some SDAs in Jamaica refer to Sister White first or only her when asked about a point of doctrine, it is not that they believe her writings are above scripture. But as you said pastor Myers it is really biblical laziness that somehow they think is OK, even when her very writings counsels against such practices. I see it like a Peter ready to draw the sword for Jesus but because this zeal is uninformed, it often causes more harm than good. We generally believe as our church officially teaches, but sometimes in practice we don't express it the best way at times. And this is even true oftentimes for persons who have left the conferences because they believe the official church is compromising.
This was truly a masterpiece of a response to the uninformed, misguided and mislead!!! When you want to deal with darkness you just turn on the light and that you did🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Each time I hear you say Mr. Perry is exempt from the part he played in using his platform to do a hit piece on another belief system he doesn’t agree with, I become confused. As someone with a platform as big as his, he has a huge responsibility not only to himself but his fans and God for the individual/s he chooses to bring on. In Mr Mason's monologue, he applauds Mr Perry for being brave enough. Why?! Because he knew the backlash and the sensitivity of the topic that would be discussed. They knew the Adventist community was not happy about the first and instead of making a balanced playfield and carrying a SDA apologist or pastor who is currently in the faith, Mr Perry chose to carry someone who has left the faith. What information can one garner from someone who has left the faith, and especially one who seems to have a personal dislike or grievance towards the faith? Even after this video was recorded, the Perrys and their team sat and edited this video and thought it was ok for them to release it on their platform. I understand the social responsibility the Perrys may have to educate the masses on Biblical truth and lies, however, there was no Bible. Just an ex-Adventist who seems to have a personal vendetta against the Adventist faith, a man who is pressed about selling his book and needs to affirm his base that his book is worth buying, and two individuals who need to take responsibility for how they use their platform. I truly appreciate this video, there was so much misinformation, and thank you for allowing God to use you and your wife to spread the truth.
How can the hosts expect to be accurately searching for truth from only one side...? They say they don't want to "pick on anybody", but thats unfortunately what has happened. If they were effectively "searching for truth", they would have someone on the show, who could accurately represent Adventist doctrine, and to whom they can ask their questions. If they still disagree--that's ok! But at least they will disagree with an accurate representation rather than a projection of false ideas, assumptions, biases, and prejudices of what some people think Adventists believe.
Did you watch the show? They said very clearly (around the 6 min mark) that they invited several SDA people to come on the show but they either declined or didn't respond.
God is continuing to do a work. To allow people to falsely accuse us is part of our refinement. We will certainly meet more and more condemnation as we are a peculiar people, called to be set apart. As we move forward in love, God will allow us more to ready us for the future.

"Thunder" gave away the solution to the problem he was presenting when he referenced Walter Martin's book - "Kingdom of the Cults" -- Where Martin slams the non-SDA scholar Anthony Hoekema for using the same baseless tactics against SDAs that "Thunder" is using. Martin insisted that one cannot condemn an entire denomination based on hear-say or based on "one-guy-said". Hence Martin came out against Hoekema's wild claim that SDAs are a cult.

Very few things have I ever disagreed with Pastor Ivor on, and none of them were any theological mountain either of us would proverbially die on.
Interesting quote from the Great Controversy regarding people who oppose Adventist doctrine because it is different: “In the absence of Bible testimony in their favor, many with unwearying persistence urged-forgetting how the same reasoning had been employed against Christ and His apostles: ‘Why do not our great men understand this Sabbath question? But few believe as you do. It cannot be that you are right and that all the men of learning in the world are wrong.’" (The Great Controversy, p. 455) The same reasoning was used against Christ and His apostles.
The misinformation that you fact checked is a wake up call to Adventists that we must study the Bible and clearly understand why we believe what we believe. We must be diligent students of the Word, our lives depend on it. Thank you Pastor for exposing the dishonest scholarship. I have viewed many discussions between the late great Dr Walter Martin and leaders of the church. Dr Martin was perhaps the least biased scholar who has studied Adventist theology. His book “Kingdom of The Cults” is a must read for any Christian. Blessings and keep teaching truth.
Adventists can only refer to other Christians as *"Apostates"* for so long before it finally upsets these other members of the Body of Christ. In reality, SDAs should be surprised that they haven't gotten MORE pushback much sooner. Walter Martin gave them a pass back in the 1950s which is now being seriously reconsidered, and revoked. If Adventists would clean up their hostile view of other Christians the flack would greatly die down.

Thank you Pastor for such a passionate and heartfelt presentation of God’s Truth. Coming out of a Pentecostal church and into the SDA church , I often say to God that, “I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant...”(Genesis 32:10). The SDA church has the privilege of having The Truth and we are told, “Let not those who have the truth as it is in Jesus give sanction, even by their silence, to the work of the mystery of iniquity. Let them never cease to sound the note of alarm... The truth must not be hid, it must not be denied or disguised, but fully avowed, and boldly proclaimed. (Maranatha 239). Amen.
They appeared cultlike while saying Adventism is a cult. The idea of what we are saying is true, with very little use of Scripture, to refute Adventist's doctrines while speaking with someone who is not an Adventist to represent Adventism and creating a straw man to argue against. Additionally, with very little historical proof to substantiate the many claims made, the video produced by the perrys seemed more like gossip than an actual look at what we believe.
Very true… I feel like it’s always gossip because they(accusers) always bring in people that are past Adventist- hurt Adventist or otherwise have some other agenda and they tend to build off that… we really have to be dedicated to studying the scriptures and seeking Christ for understanding.

Wow Pastor! You mean to tell me that that’s all they got??? I’m 51 with 4 kids, the youngest is 3 months old and an OFFICIAL 2G Adventist! I’ve been in the church 23 months and will be baptized on the 2 year anniversary of my ‘coming out of her my people’. They don’t know where they as Protestants came from and they don’t know where they are going. This was an unfortunate hit job and had a very ugly spirit attached to it, IMHO. Weak sauce is all they have.

When I watched the first podcast (the Perry’s….), the first thought that came into my head is that perhaps someone may have been hurt by or had a negative experience with a particular group of Adventists. It was mind boggling there were so many things that was mentioned in that podcast that needed to be fact checked for sure. There are so many ministries that has risen from a place of hurt and indifference to Adventism which led to their pursuit to ‘poison the well’, then in turn discourages others to research and dig deeper into the Word for themselves. As Pastor pointed out, they made poisoned well arguments in the video which precludes the serious consideration of any response from SDAs. According to the creators and their guest, there are only two kinds of Adventists--those who are too ignorant to know what their church really teaches, or those who are deliberately deceptive about church teaching. This is manipulative if not outright dishonest. Much as it would feel good to see Pastor refute their nonsense face to face in real time, I think that this was actually the best and most thorough way to respond to these attacks. I'm glad to see so many likes and comments--hopefully this will result in the attention it deserves. I'm very proud of Pastor's thoughtfulness and restraint.

I am not even done watching this video, but I am beyond thankful for the truth and detail put into responding to the video posted by the Perry's - Is SDA a cult? It is so important as you mentioned that we have to study God's word because our faith will be tested and we will be shaken out of what we believe to be true if we are not studying. May God give us all clarity of mind and a heavy desire to search the scriptures as we know His coming is nearer than it was yesterday. It is one thing to "differ" with official SDA beliefs - it is quite another to make up one's own fictional version of what bad idea one "wishes" SDAs believed as a straw man against SDAs. The former is perfectly acceptable. The later is not a good Christian practice at all. Mason is using "Thunder" as though anything Elce says is instantly an official SDA denomination wide position.

Very good presentation on clarifying what SDA believes . Since you both Pastor and Mrs Myers are affiliated with Oakwood, please tell our preachers on Sabbath to preach substance and SDA doctrines. The teaching there has been watered down , and the standards are lowered.
Actual SDAs know that the "Clear Word" commentary/paraphrase is not an actual Bible translation in the least. Elce takes advantage of the non-SDA lack of background for how the "Clear Word" is used by SDAs - knowing full well we do not promote it as an actual Bible translation.

I have, however, read things written by Ellen White and (what I've read) holds up against scripture, and what she wrote about health holds up against science.

I don't know if you'll see this or not, Pastor Myers because Wes & I started to watch the "Live", but we had to leave to go somewhere & we watched it the next day. But Wes made a good point about the fact of you saying they had 136000 views. Did you ever stop to think that maybe they were saying false statements about SDAs in order to get a ton of views because simply they might be monetized & want to receive the money it will afford them. We're not trying to be mean here, but we've seen a lot of this going on with other RUclips channels. It's just one thought, though. And you're right.....as SDAs we need to get off of our behinds & quit relying on your pastors as our only guide to knowing God's words (the bible). We've had a burden in our hearts for this for some time now & we have been trying to get our facts straight with the Lord into what we believe & why we believe in what we believe. Wow I’m an SDA, just knowing for the first time that Clear Word Bible is associated with Adventism!! I looked it up, and everywhere it says that this is not an official Bible of the SDA church. I have never read or studied from that Bible. On another note, this Elce guy, is he as knowledgeable about other denominations as he is about SDAs? He seems to be “obsessed” with Adventism (for want of a better word). I’ve looked at his channel, he has quite a few anti-Adventist videos on there, so can we assume this guy has a bone with Adventism? I can't believe what I am hearing. This is the most ludicrous thing I have heard. As a seventh Day Adventist for 40 plus years we have always used bible texts. But as revelation says the dragon was wroth with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ!! I would LOVE for you guys to come to my church! Sometimes I think that people feel like vetting information or questioning information is not biblical. I questioned scripture that a pastor used from the pulpit and people looked at me like I was strange! This lesson further proves how dangerous it is to continuously quote EGW. If there are more EGW quotes in a sermon than there are Bible quotes, that's a problem!
Sometimes it’s good to quote EGW so that we will know what people are talking about when they question us about her. EGW writings are not to be thrown out completely!

In a discussion or debate, any presenter(s) who resort to "poisoning the water" tactics demonstrate a lack of respect for the intelligence of their hearers. They are deciding for their audience that they are incapable of intelligently researching and analyzing a subject matter and coming to a reasonable, unbiased conclusion for themselves. Therefore, the need to have the brainwork done for them. In actuality, their well-hidden fear is that should honest, genuine, non-predugicial, study be allowed, by their audience or even by themselves, it would reveal the weaknesses of their case and they are not able or ready to deal with that. To make up for their lack of confidence in fairly, and in this case, pure-Scriptualy defeating the challenging or opposing argument, they make a grossly erroneous, bias-influencing preemptive, strike. It is a cowardly and downright evil and cruel strategy in reality, and it's a likewise cowardly move argumentatively.
I believe that these critics, unable to find real evidence supporting the observance of the Sabbath, are resorting to other methods to portray the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) community in a negative light. Thank you, Pastor, for reaffirming and teaching us how to study. I leave you with Acts 14:22. Thank you for encouraging us to persevere in the faith.

This was very informative and brought me back to a deeper study of my decision for Jesus. I didn’t become a Christian until well into my 20’s and I am thankful that it was the Adventist Church that led me to Jesus. I didn’t want to be an Adventist because of everything out there and what I had heard, but when going to other churches they struggled using the Bible alone. I could not turn my back on the Word, so here I am an Adventist Christian 20 years later. I wasn’t so offended by the word cult, as I was not being acknowledged as a Christian. Who would I be today without Christ! I’m glad you mentioned how many ex-SDA’s have ministries that seem to only focus on disputing or discrediting Adventist beliefs. It’s a strange ministry to me. Because if you have been “freed” and you understand the Great Commission…why the fixation? Jesus says preach the gospel to the whole world. However, these type of ministries have made their commission for debunking the Adventist faith. Their commission seems to be to preach” or “save” or “help” those to claim to keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus. I’m pretty sure Jesus didn’t intend this to be the great commission, right? In my Bible, this commission is the Dragon’s. So I’m confused with their intent. I’ll stick to what the Bible says, I’ll stick to Jesus and pray for all.
My last point.. Pastor i read Ellen White, and her writings have forced me to take up the Bible and study it, and now i so much appreciate the Bible.

Although EGW’s book is a great breakdown of the Great Controversy, the Great Controversy doctrine is 100% biblical and not something that EGW made up.
Like it or not, everyone has a lens that they have adopted from someone my friend when they view scripture. We just have a lens that works typologically, narratively, literally, spiritually, and consistently through ALL of scripture. It is a lens that we had multiple opportunities to test against nay sayers and they all have been unsuccessful in disproving it from scripture.
People who are searching for truth and hear the context often instantly see it makes sense. Is there a controversy between Christ and Satan? Rev 12:7-9 , Does it involves Satan’s desire to be like Him in terms of His rulership? Yep. Isa 14:12-16.
After my conversion from Atheism to Christ as a member of the SDA denomination , I knew nothing about Ellen Whites writings for years , I only knew bible and various protestant commentaries. I later began to read her writings and I can tell you, I immediately felt this woman was a modern day Paul. I could not deny her inspiration. Not only did scripture and her writings line up, her insight was mind blowing and had me saying Praise God.
You can see in the quality of her writings she instantly separates herself from the pack. Hind sight is 20/20, she has been dead for over 100 years and we can scrutinize everything she ever wrote-and the world has over and over-and she has been vindicated. I am not ashamed to say we had a prophet in our midst.
Notwithstanding, she NEVER encouraged her writings to be used in place of scripture, but on the contrary her mission was to lead people to scripture , and to those who heed that call, that is exactly what she does.
These are Christian Entertainers, there’s no need to respond. They are evangelical apologists, spoken word artists, rappers, public speakers, booksellers, theological philosophers. Their ministry is Greco-Roman, not kingdom discipleship. Their success comes from exposure and publishing and sales, not from obedience. Having a conversation about obedience with an actor on a stage is a waste of time. I’m not 7th Day Adventist either, but I spent a lot of time in the evangelical world of Christian Entertainment and Sophistry - it’s a waste of time for a Commandment Keeping Believer.

I agree with you my friend but Adventist need to have a counter narrative. I think there are Christians who may be on the fence about commandment keeping, and a video like this could dispel all the false information.
What was made clear in this video was one of the biggest realizations that I had 20 years ago when I was exposed to Adventism for the first time. Most Christian denominations do not really know what they believe or why they believe it . Adventism does. I got clear BIBLE answers when I asked questions from Adventism . I studied with every kind of Protestant denomination you can think of and was raised Catholic . So when I went back to ask them why they believed what they believed it never added up but they were super quick to attack the Adventists position , but never with scripture only opinions . I was told they were legalists , that they were a cult that they were whatever, but when I tested it for myself ; unequivocally false.
Adventist as a denomination are the only ones that preach Bible truth. I was dumbfounded that priests , pastors , and scholars had no real biblical proof for their positions . They only seemed to be true and sounded convincing until they were held up against the actual truth of Gods word. While they may convince many and have very popular churches,tv shows , RUclips channels etc the truth will always be the truth whether you want to believe it or not.

Recall that Adventists have for years and years made their fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord out to be the malevolent bearers of a supposed coming Sunday law. SDAs label these members of the Body of Christ with a variety of derogatory names such as *"the Nominal Churches", "Babylon", "the Daughters of the Whore"* , and either *"Apostate Protestantism" or "Apostate Christians"* (often both). Unfortunately Adventists throw around these terms with little or no thought, but usually only in front of the audience that is sitting in their own pews. In other words the SDAs have gotten away with talking smack about other Christians because they never have opposing views to their doctrines presented. That has all changed nowadays with the advent of the internet.
Regarding the label of a cult. I ask "Which is worse, a cult or an apostate?" Recall that the term "apostate" means to have turned ones back on Christ and left the faith. An apostate is in a most abominable place, denying God and renouncing Him. Understand that *one can be a Christian and be in a cult, but one CANNOT be Christian and be an apostate* . Thus Adventists, whether they know it or not, are totally debasing other Christians when they refer to them as apostate. Therefore this name calling and labeling by Adventists is much worse than the label of a cult, and it deserves pushback and rebuke.
As long as SDAs keep referring to other Christians in such negative terms, the label of cult will undoubtedly still be applied to the Adventists.

As SDAs we know that just because someone is in another denomination doesn't mean they are nominal or apostate. And just because they go to our church or another church doesn't mean they aren't nominal or apostate. I have never, ever heard any SDA call any member of any church a daughter of the whore, and I don't expect to. In my 63 years as an Adventist it's always been, "We can disagree with this or that teaching, but we don't judge individuals' hearts." We are taught that Babylon means the vast confusion of churches with varying doctrines, and that most of God's true people who will be saved are there.
Again, the term "apostate" doesn't necessarily just mean one who has rejected Christ or left their faith. It can mean one who has rejected his or her previous principles, and it isn't even necessarily offensive, as someone can be an apostate from something negative as well. But when someone claims to be Christian while openly rejecting God, or a minister preaches that Christ didn't rise from the dead, or a church completely reverses their beliefs on something that was once a foundational belief for their denomination, I think it's only honest to say they are apostate from their or their church's confession of faith. And that's why you will sometimes hear those terms, because more and more churches or individuals are doing these things. It's not a blanket statement regarding the Body of Christ.
@@carolyn9693 First of all I do not refer to anyone as an "apostate" (or being in apostasy) unless they have actually apostatized from Christ and the Christian faith. It is Seventh-day Adventist that throw around this term carelessly, apparently not knowing what the term "apostasy" actually means. (Please query the meaning for yourself to understand its correct definition).
I believe that Adventists use "apostate" incorrectly due in part to their own theology which often pits "Sabbath keepers" against the "Sunday keepers". Since the Protestants will supposedly want to pass a Sunday law which ends up persecuting Seventh-day Adventists, the SDAs, by virtue of such a doctrine, view these current "Sunday keeping" Christians as the bearers of this awful law one day in the future. And since we all certainly understand that no true Christian would ever want to impress a mandated day of worship (that includes the death penalty) upon another Christian, this must mean that these people in the "Nominal Churches" must in fact not be true Christians to begin with, OR that they will somehow fall from God's grace over this matter. Hence the concept of being in "apostasy" is used of other Christians who are supposedly in the PROCESS which ends in being an apostate. Again, this is incorrect usage of a term that should be reserved for its true meaning.
If Adventists would choose their words more carefully they might understand that the term "heretical" is a more appropriate word to label these other denominations. One can believe in heretical doctrines and still be a Christian, but one cannot be a Christian and an Apostate at the same time . A Christian Apostate is one who has left the faith and denied Christ.

I'm from Jamaica. What I'll say is that when some SDAs in Jamaica refer to Sister White first or only her when asked about a point of doctrine, it is not that they believe her writings are above scripture. But as you said pastor Myers it is really biblical laziness that somehow they think is OK, even when her very writings counsels against such practices. I see it like a Peter ready to draw the sword for Jesus but because this zeal is uninformed, it often causes more harm than good.
We generally believe as our church officially teaches, but sometimes in practice we don't express it the best way at times. And this is even true oftentimes for persons who have left the conferences because they believe the official church is compromising.

Each time I hear you say Mr. Perry is exempt from the part he played in using his platform to do a hit piece on another belief system he doesn’t agree with, I become confused. As someone with a platform as big as his, he has a huge responsibility not only to himself but his fans and God for the individual/s he chooses to bring on. In Mr Mason's monologue, he applauds Mr Perry for being brave enough. Why?! Because he knew the backlash and the sensitivity of the topic that would be discussed. They knew the Adventist community was not happy about the first and instead of making a balanced playfield and carrying a SDA apologist or pastor who is currently in the faith, Mr Perry chose to carry someone who has left the faith. What information can one garner from someone who has left the faith, and especially one who seems to have a personal dislike or grievance towards the faith? Even after this video was recorded, the Perrys and their team sat and edited this video and thought it was ok for them to release it on their platform.
I understand the social responsibility the Perrys may have to educate the masses on Biblical truth and lies, however, there was no Bible. Just an ex-Adventist who seems to have a personal vendetta against the Adventist faith, a man who is pressed about selling his book and needs to affirm his base that his book is worth buying, and two individuals who need to take responsibility for how they use their platform.
I truly appreciate this video, there was so much misinformation, and thank you for allowing God to use you and your wife to spread the truth.

How can the hosts expect to be accurately searching for truth from only one side...? They say they don't want to "pick on anybody", but thats unfortunately what has happened. If they were effectively "searching for truth", they would have someone on the show, who could accurately represent Adventist doctrine, and to whom they can ask their questions. If they still disagree--that's ok! But at least they will disagree with an accurate representation rather than a projection of false ideas, assumptions, biases, and prejudices of what some people think Adventists believe.

"Thunder" gave away the solution to the problem he was presenting when he referenced Walter Martin's book - "Kingdom of the Cults" -- Where Martin slams the non-SDA scholar Anthony Hoekema for using the same baseless tactics against SDAs that "Thunder" is using. Martin insisted that one cannot condemn an entire denomination based on hear-say or based on "one-guy-said". Hence Martin came out against Hoekema's wild claim that SDAs are a cult.
Walter Martin was having serious doubts about removing the label of "cult" in regards to Adventists towards the end of his life.

Interesting quote from the Great Controversy regarding people who oppose Adventist doctrine because it is different:
“In the absence of Bible testimony in their favor, many with unwearying persistence urged-forgetting how the same reasoning had been employed against Christ and His apostles: ‘Why do not our great men understand this Sabbath question? But few believe as you do. It cannot be that you are right and that all the men of learning in the world are wrong.’" (The Great Controversy, p. 455)
The same reasoning was used against Christ and His apostles.
The misinformation that you fact checked is a wake up call to Adventists that we must study the Bible and clearly understand why we believe what we believe. We must be diligent students of the Word, our lives depend on it. Thank you Pastor for exposing the dishonest scholarship. I have viewed many discussions between the late great Dr Walter Martin and leaders of the church. Dr Martin was perhaps the least biased scholar who has studied Adventist theology. His book “Kingdom of The Cults” is a must read for any Christian. Blessings and keep teaching truth.
Adventists can only refer to other Christians as *"Apostates"* for so long before it finally upsets these other members of the Body of Christ.
In reality, SDAs should be surprised that they haven't gotten MORE pushback much sooner. Walter Martin gave them a pass back in the 1950s which is now being seriously reconsidered, and revoked.
If Adventists would clean up their hostile view of other Christians the flack would greatly die down.

Thank you Pastor for such a passionate and heartfelt presentation of God’s Truth. Coming out of a Pentecostal church and into the SDA church , I often say to God that, “I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant...”(Genesis 32:10). The SDA church has the privilege of having The Truth and we are told, “Let not those who have the truth as it is in Jesus give sanction, even by their silence, to the work of the mystery of iniquity. Let them never cease to sound the note of alarm... The truth must not be hid, it must not be denied or disguised, but fully avowed, and boldly proclaimed. (Maranatha 239). Amen.
They appeared cultlike while saying Adventism is a cult. The idea of what we are saying is true, with very little use of Scripture, to refute Adventist's doctrines while speaking with someone who is not an Adventist to represent Adventism and creating a straw man to argue against. Additionally, with very little historical proof to substantiate the many claims made, the video produced by the perrys seemed more like gossip than an actual look at what we believe.
Very true… I feel like it’s always gossip because they(accusers) always bring in people that are past Adventist- hurt Adventist or otherwise have some other agenda and they tend to build off that… we really have to be dedicated to studying the scriptures and seeking Christ for understanding.

I’ve been in the church 23 months and will be baptized on the 2 year anniversary of my ‘coming out of her my people’.
They don’t know where they as Protestants came from and they don’t know where they are going.
This was an unfortunate hit job and had a very ugly spirit attached to it, IMHO.

When I watched the first podcast (the Perry’s….), the first thought that came into my head is that perhaps someone may have been hurt by or had a negative experience with a particular group of Adventists. It was mind boggling there were so many things that was mentioned in that podcast that needed to be fact checked for sure. There are so many ministries that has risen from a place of hurt and indifference to Adventism which led to their pursuit to ‘poison the well’, then in turn discourages others to research and dig deeper into the Word for themselves.
If this is the case, then I pray for their healing ❤️🩹 🙏🏽 and that they find Truth as it is in Christ Jesus.

Wow! This is amazing. I’m so disappointed in the Perry’s for not inviting you even though you had one of the top comments on the first video. Hopefully they’ll make right and bring you on.
As Pastor pointed out, they made poisoned well arguments in the video which precludes the serious consideration of any response from SDAs. According to the creators and their guest, there are only two kinds of Adventists--those who are too ignorant to know what their church really teaches, or those who are deliberately deceptive about church teaching. This is manipulative if not outright dishonest.
Much as it would feel good to see Pastor refute their nonsense face to face in real time, I think that this was actually the best and most thorough way to respond to these attacks. I'm glad to see so many likes and comments--hopefully this will result in the attention it deserves. I'm very proud of Pastor's thoughtfulness and restraint.

I am not even done watching this video, but I am beyond thankful for the truth and detail put into responding to the video posted by the Perry's - Is SDA a cult? It is so important as you mentioned that we have to study God's word because our faith will be tested and we will be shaken out of what we believe to be true if we are not studying. May God give us all clarity of mind and a heavy desire to search the scriptures as we know His coming is nearer than it was yesterday.

It is one thing to "differ" with official SDA beliefs - it is quite another to make up one's own fictional version of what bad idea one "wishes" SDAs believed as a straw man against SDAs. The former is perfectly acceptable. The later is not a good Christian practice at all. Mason is using "Thunder" as though anything Elce says is instantly an official SDA denomination wide position.

Actual SDAs know that the "Clear Word" commentary/paraphrase is not an actual Bible translation in the least. Elce takes advantage of the non-SDA lack of background for how the "Clear Word" is used by SDAs - knowing full well we do not promote it as an actual Bible translation.

I have, however, read things written by Ellen White and (what I've read) holds up against scripture, and what she wrote about health holds up against science.

I don't know if you'll see this or not, Pastor Myers because Wes & I started to watch the "Live", but we had to leave to go somewhere & we watched it the next day. But Wes made a good point about the fact of you saying they had 136000 views. Did you ever stop to think that maybe they were saying false statements about SDAs in order to get a ton of views because simply they might be monetized & want to receive the money it will afford them. We're not trying to be mean here, but we've seen a lot of this going on with other RUclips channels. It's just one thought, though.
And you're right.....as SDAs we need to get off of our behinds & quit relying on your pastors as our only guide to knowing God's words (the bible). We've had a burden in our hearts for this for some time now & we have been trying to get our facts straight with the Lord into what we believe & why we believe in what we believe. Wow I’m an SDA, just knowing for the first time that Clear Word Bible is associated with Adventism!! I looked it up, and everywhere it says that this is not an official Bible of the SDA church. I have never read or studied from that Bible.
On another note, this Elce guy, is he as knowledgeable about other denominations as he is about SDAs? He seems to be “obsessed” with Adventism (for want of a better word). I’ve looked at his channel, he has quite a few anti-Adventist videos on there, so can we assume this guy has a bone with Adventism? If that’s the case, isn’t it unfair to get someone who is particularly against the denomination to speak on their behalf???🤨🤨🤨

I can't believe what I am hearing. This is the most ludicrous thing I have heard. As a seventh Day Adventist for 40 plus years we have always used bible texts. But as revelation says the dragon was wroth with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ!! REV 12: 17This is what I am seeing here.
I would LOVE for you guys to come to my church! Sometimes I think that people feel like vetting information or questioning information is not biblical. I questioned scripture that a pastor used from the pulpit and people looked at me like I was strange! This lesson further proves how dangerous it is to continuously quote EGW. If there are more EGW quotes in a sermon than there are Bible quotes, that's a problem!
Sometimes it’s good to quote EGW so that we will know what people are talking about when they question us about her. EGW writings are not to be thrown out completely!

They put their trust in the wrong individuals and should trust in God. Also need to do their own research. Well done, may God continues to be glorified. In a discussion or debate, any presenter(s) who resort to "poisoning the water" tactics demonstrate a lack of respect for the intelligence of their hearers. They are deciding for their audience that they are incapable of intelligently researching and analyzing a subject matter and coming to a reasonable, unbiased conclusion for themselves. Therefore, the need to have the brainwork done for them. In actuality, their well-hidden fear is that should honest, genuine, non-predugicial, study be allowed, by their audience or even by themselves, it would reveal the weaknesses of their case and they are not able or ready to deal with that. To make up for their lack of confidence in fairly, and in this case, pure-Scriptualy defeating the challenging or opposing argument, they make a grossly erroneous, bias-influencing preemptive, strike.
It is a cowardly and downright evil and cruel strategy in reality, and it's a likewise cowardly move argumentatively.
I believe that these critics, unable to find real evidence supporting the observance of the Sabbath, are resorting to other methods to portray the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) community in a negative light. Thank you, Pastor, for reaffirming and teaching us how to study. I leave you with Acts 14:22. Thank you for encouraging us to persevere in the faith.
