It isn’t the audio as a whole, the background music is still going; but voiceover stops just after “…refractor field…” and doesn’t cut back in until the rod of command bit.
Haha love it! It's a slight editing mistake on my part I am going to try and fix it in the RUclips editor but I have to be careful because it's very temperamental
4:17 actually your marshals + bodyguard still benefit from regimental doctrines so you can give them something cheeky like recon operators and brutal strength/swift as the wind. Super useful in boarding actions too!
haha yes, I'm not the only 1 to go full Scion infantry. Though in my case, i went with 15 full scion squads (mostly with meltas and plasmas) with 3 scion command squads (warlord's squad with an orgyn bodyguard) for 166 bodies. Always fun to play :D
@Mordian Glory pretty much, though i try to pick and choose moments to overcharge them. I have 12 squads with meltas and plasma, 2 with plasma and HSVG and 1 pure lasguns basically. Not tried them at a tournament (I really need to paint them 1st......)
Working my way through the playlist. It's enjoyable watching you learn the different gameplay styles that became your hallmarks later on. Looking forward to more Tournament After Action Reports!
I'd like to see what an artillery focused Guard army can do! We've seen the sholder-to-shoulder ranks of guardsmen, we've seen the spearhead formations of Leman Russ' supporting THE BANEBLADE! I want to see the horror of relentless steel rain, probably in a Kreig style theme, but yeah just a large number of light/medium/heavy artillery to nuke those bugs from orbit! While Mao Zedong said "Lose men holding land, lose both. Lose land keep men, land can be retaken." The USA said, "Artillery shell factory go brrr, take land and keep men :)"
Kieran's tank company is really beautiful. The Russes look so much better without sponsons, particularly with those FW turrets, but I don't see how it is competitive at all these days.
It can be good, if I was to do it I would take 12 russes and I would have 2-3 dakka tanks to help clear the hordes. The problem he had was no sponsons, whilst better looking, makes them so easy to wrap in combat
Abhuman heavy list, or Psyker heavy list. I’m thinking massive hammer heads of 2 6 man Bullgryn squads smashing into space marines, throwing 50 strength 7 AP -1 D1 in their face
I’ve gone to a tank list but you need infantry to push forward and prevent these melta rushes. I take 2 Dorns, a baneblade, a leman Russ tank commander with gatekeeper, an executioner plasma tank, a Kasrkin squad and 6 Cadian infantry squads with a Cadian comman squad.
i hope you do another tourney with this theme of list, wouldn't mind tactic ideas for my pure scion infantry army. I tend to keep one command squad and 5 scion squads in reserve usually
31:27 currently priming this conversion, guess my idea was not so original. I was thinking of the catachan roughriders on lizards from the 3rd ed codex I think.
Yeah it's a slight editing mistake, I am going to fix it in the RUclips editor but I just have to be careful because the youtube editor is very temperamental
I have seen that one I watch pretty much all your videos 😂 was just thinking a more fully combat list obviously you have some shooting from sentinals and ogryns which to be fair is pretty good just think combat guard could work first turn 9 scout sentinals in your face turn two 9 armoured sentinals in your face turn 3 couple of rough rider charges on the flanks and one straight down the middle and ogryns and bullgryns just do what they do best and hold the center maybe even have 3 command squads as well I do have a list made up this 🤣
I had sonething like 1:13:15 in a kharadron game my opponent said it was some of the worst rolling he had ever seen. A KO ironclad with full compliment of thunderers and nauts opened fire into one unit and inflicted a single wound
52:39- Yeah, I don’t understand that. I don’t know much of the rules yet. Mainly because I’m still fairly new to this game. And honestly, I still haven’t even had a game yet (I’m still trying to finish my army! And yes I know I can play with a unpainted army. But not a un based army! And I don’t put the model on the base until it is 100% painted!). But I would think it would be whoever wins the dice roll should be able to “choose” who goes first! Not who has to go first! I don’t know, that way makes more sense to me! But I’m new so….
Geezus those scions are scary. One squad taking out a things like a RogalDorn? I'm not even sure my SW squads can do that. I'm keen to run a Space Wolves horde list with around 100+ marines myself, though I'm not sure they'll have the same damage output.
how you can inlclude two marshal ihe same detachment? both have the commandant keyword and you can include only one per detachment... i am missing something?... by the way i love the idea of pure scion army, even if i am using a great armoured brigade with 10 vehicle...
The lesson you took from game 4 where you shouldn't have engaged the big demons face on, is that really the right takeaway? If your dice hadn't spiked you'd have downed them, correct? If so then it was the best choice to take as they'd have ended up killing you off anyway surely.
Ughh the new table setup/terrain looks miserable. Just came from listening to one of your tales about late 7th to early 8th edition back when tables actually had character and were setup to tell a story or had some theme. I just can't get behind this new competitive style you might as well be playing an RTS and save a great deal of time and effort on the modelling/painting not to mention buy in costs. 😅
Awesome setup, but for anyone that's curious, this MIGHT just be the most expensive army you can build with GW official minis lol. I believe Scions are sold in packs of 5 for something like $40. Yeah.
True, but fortunately I didn't have to spend that much. I have been collecting Guard for 20 years and I buy a lot of stuff second hand :) If anyone else wanted to try this army, i would recommend 3d printer go brrrrrrr xD
Audio cuts out for a minute around the 10:20 mark
Thanks for letting me know, I will try and fix it :)

@@LoneEagle2061 yep its a slight editing mistake on my part!
Edit: I did leave a comment but then realized they already covered what I said and he knows also!
Ten minutes in and we got a great rendition of All Quiet on the Western Front...
Haha love it!

This is true! But it never came up so I left it out to keep the video streamlined :)
You make 40k rules very easy to understand and digest even though I dont play, cool channel man
Thank you, thats a big compliment :)

Really hope that Scion armies remain a thing in 10th.
Me too!
Best series on the channel bar none
Thanks!
Agree that GSC is a really difficult matchup. 2 sources of prefectus orders is a must!
Yep, learned that the hard way :(

I can put into the field right now 3x FOBs, 2x Basilisks, 2x manticore, 9x mortar and a medusa! That might be enough boom boom
@Mordian Glory Siege of Vraks vibes intensifies
😮 that would be fun to see
Krieg + cavalry sounds like an awesome take for next tournament. Artillery of course to shell shock as well.
I have the infantry ready to go, the arty and cavalry just need building and painting

100% agree. I think pure tanks can work, but taking 1-2 less tanks and having a simple infantry screen makes a huge difference!
I’d like to see truly Tryhhard Scions, like the most meta and shark tank full Scions list there is
A full WWI style Krieg army would be cool to see
I think that might be next, but I might wait for 10th edition :)

I love these army list tournament videos
Would love to see a fully combat guard list no tanks just bulgryns ogryns sentinals with chainsaws iron hand rough riders
I did a balanced guard combat army at a event a few weeks ago :)

It turns out that the only answer to MSU is just *MSU harder*
If I could, I would have taken them all as 5 man squads to fully embrace the MSU life
I had sonething like 1:13:15 in a kharadron game my opponent said it was some of the worst rolling he had ever seen. A KO ironclad with full compliment of thunderers and nauts opened fire into one unit and inflicted a single wound
Ooooof! It's never good when it happens :(
Those Blue GSC trucks looks great. Love these videos but yeah you are right, all the same L shaped ruins get old, seems so bland.
After 3 years of the same terrain its very bland. I am really hoping 10th terrain at events is more interesting
Looks very cool and a nice change. Makes me wonder if fully infantry Marines would work?….
Blood angels basically play full infantry already

and I am still kicking my self on not getting the start collecting scions before they where pulled :C
Just to clarify, the GSC player revealed his blips after your movement phase, correct? They can't stay blips throughout your entire turn.
Yes, he put the units down near the blips after I moved :)
396 points out of a possible 488 (you took RBD 4 out of 5 games IIRC) is pretty darn good.
3 baneblades and 2 Rogal Dorns would be a fun list. ;)
Yo Dawg.....
Man this is making my mostly tank guard army terrified of going up against a 100% Scions army 😂
Bring it to South Wales some time ;)

AoO has a generic pre-game strategem "Heroic Support" IIRC for 1CP, that allows you to ignore the limitation.
The lesson you took from game 4 where you shouldn't have engaged the big demons face on, is that really the right takeaway? If your dice hadn't spiked you'd have downed them, correct? If so then it was the best choice to take as they'd have ended up killing you off anyway surely.
Honestly, with the benefit of hindsight, Im not so sure. They are very very tanky and with a 4++ save it could go either way
I wish this worked in 10th... my guess is we'll be limited to 6 or even 3 scion squads.
