I definitely agree with you on this one. I enjoyed it. It’s definitely not going to be for everyone and yeah rewatch value I totally agree with be sparse.
I thought this was brilliantly made, but the core premise and how it connected with those additional elements in the third act didn't quite land for me. I still appreciated the experience of it overall, but I think it tried to too too many things at once. However, I'm definitely here for Maika Monroe becoming a scream queen with It Follows, Watcher, and now this. 👌👌👌
Definitely agree about the demonic possession point you made - sometimes it’s more of an entertainment thing. But based on how you spoke about this, I think I’d at least enjoy this film. Great review on it, man
Given so many movies are unoriginal or remakes, I love watching these more indie style movies even if they might have underwhelming endings. While the story’s are very different it’s got that uneasy suspense like the Babadook if the Babadook slept with Silence of the lambs. I think a lot of bad reviews are from people who expect perfect movies and compare these type of horror movies with top grade movies like Sinister.
im surprised by how many critics are meh on this one but audiences so far like it, i heard 500 people or so were sold and i didnt understand why. Maybe its because of Nic Cage? XD
@@123rockfan yeah, I wish studios would stop with the pull quotes in the trailers. I never really give those any weight in my outlook of the movie going in.

This movie will be among my Top 5 WORST Movies of 2024. 🤦 I hate movies in which characters that are supposed to be smart make stupid choices just for the plot. The protagonist and the FBI made the cops from Keystone Capers look like Seal Team 6.
Pretty well attended in my theater too. We had to sit in the front row.

Marketing was scarier than the movie. But I dug it. Going to see it again today.

Marketing really hurt this movie. Personally I think it should’ve been sold as a Sam Raimi sort of horror film. Not the “scariest movie of the year”
