Iam a fujin but i have 240k prowess because i play a lot of characters and now the matches i get are absolutely AWFUL

Too hard for sure, dudes probably going up around Tekken God level. I'm sitting at Fujin and try to play some different characters to learn, and I get stomped with people who are at Fujin level

I'm raijin with 210k and all I've been playing are Tekken Kings on Reina it's absolute hell
They've made a change like this and yet Quick Match STILL doesn't have unlimited rematches...

I love how prowess is the same mystery as stats. Everyone tries to make an educated guess on what causes each stat to level but no one knows a definitive answer and I bet neither does the tekken team.
Pretty sure you can think of it as accumulated tekken knowledge by playing different characters
I'm pretty sure its directly linked to your rank. The more you have high ranks characters, the more prowess. I play only Kuma, was at 113k when i was hardstuck in fujin ranks, now i'm at stuck at 133k at mighty ruler, and it pretty much doesnt change until my rank changees too

It really sucks, I've hit fujin before which means my tekken prowless went up, but I went back to flame ruler, but I still have to fight fujin or higher players. I'm down for a challange, but fighting people who are always better, sometime multible times sucks

I get stuck fighting the same guys over and over again. I will be waiting for over 30 mins for a match and when I am paired with someone they just wait til the timer is out everytime. And for some reason the game will pair me up with that sane person who won't accept a match over and over again. It makes no sense. But as soon as I get demoted, I can find everybody. It's lame.
I hate the change. I mess around with all the characters and play ranked very casually like without learning combos sometimes. Now every match is against someone that's as good as my highest character and they're taking it way more serious than me. Even player match is matched on prowess, wtf. My only option is to try hard, so that's what I started doing. Busted out Dragunov (t7 main) and just spamming on everyone. I am pissed, royally pissed.
Took me weeks to get to Raijin rank and i did so just before this change. Today i demoted back into battle ruler and my opponents are just as skilled as they were before because im fighting 180-200k blue ranks still. I understand if i cant keep a rank i dont belong there, but because of my promotion my prowess is now the highest its ever been, where as before i found it easy to get my rank back but i came close to dropping to flame ruler instead. Im now around the same rank as my brother, but the opponents i will get and the opponents he will get will be VERY different, because he hasnt hit blue ranks yet so his tekken prowess is about 40k lower than mine. If im climbing a ladder, i want to climb the same ladder as my brother if im in the same rank. Not one thats coated in olive oil so im almost certainly going to fall.

This change is a straight up nightmare for anyone with a lot of alts. I have about 10 characters in purple and one Fujin. My prowess is around the same as a Kishin so I basically face nothing but people higher rank than me. Then today I started levelling up an alt (which still starts at Destroyer) and... dear god it is hell. Not only is it nearly impossible to rank, because rank is now a confabulation and a given rank means something different for everyone based on their overall prowess, but the queue times are obscene, as it tries to find one of the few other people in my prowess+rank situation to match with.

But if you have managed to rank up multiple characters to blue and purple, you clearly know how to play Tekken and are good at match-ups, and know the strings and what to duck and sidestep etc. And you should not be matched up against red-ranks and someone new who only knows one character. This is fair for everybody.

@@Hypercube1729 Sorry, how are 5 minute queue times per match fair for everyone when it's only messing over the very small percentage of people with a ton of alts but who haven't reached "high level" ranks? And, sure, it's more fair, but it makes rank completely meaningless. If someone has ranked up a character to, say, Tenryu on their mains by climbing and fighting people of appropriate skill and someone else has gotten there by fighting nothing but people of much higher skill level, then even though both people have reached the same "rank", they are not of the same skill and totally obviates the rank system entirely. If they wanted to acknowledge that people with higher rank characters know more about the game and will just crush lower ranks literally all they had to do to fix the system was make new characters level up to only be a few ranks lower than your highest rank character, rather than the -7 or whatever it is right now. But that's clearly a difficult thing to do, so they just put in this braindead bandaid solution.

Some people might have to wait longer because there are only like 0,3% Tekken Gods, so you have fewer to choose from anyway. And alot has quit Tekken because it's not a new game anymore.
Also, some Tekken Gods are playing at 3 AM and complaining why they're not getting new matches every 10 seconds.
i've been fighting mighty rulers none stop while in shinryu. i don't even match up with the same prowess their power is way higher than mine.

The biggest problem is that losing to someone higher rank than you still lose about 600 rank points and if you go on a losing streak you lose so much rank points
For me it's even worse, as soon as I got battle ruler on Claudio, all my matches are tenryus with 280k+ prowess or Tekken emperor+. So when I lose I lose 500 pts / game and when I beat alts I get 100. I don't understand this system
I've hit recently Fujin with Claudio and Eddy is quite close (190k prowess). In quick match I'm getting blasted by Tekken Kings, which makes it very annoying. I want to play casuals because I don't want to sweat every game to win.
Plus, I still DON'T understand why there is no infinite rematch. As you say, I think they're pushing people towards the lounge to get a more relaxed experience, but I think that there is other ways to do it. Adding new modes such as King of the Hill will make people wanna try out lounge instead of ruining quick match. Hope to see some changes in the upcoming patch after EVO.
Im personally unsure what to think. As a raijin, i personally enjoy playing vs players who most of the time have roughly the same or higher prowess. Only reason i think that is because i play mostly casual sets with friends rather than ranked, so for fun i play casual sets and occasionally decide to play ranked for the competition and improvement.
But thats just me personally, but i understand why it bothers people who ONLY play ranked. Now you have to do nothing but sweat if you dont have people that you can consistently play with casually, so you are stuck playing for rank vs people mostly better than you
I was the King player and just for clarity I was Tekken Emporer but had a rough couple sessions and fell to Bushin. Loved playing you mate!
I'm pretty much peaked at battle ruler rn which before the update was like, 140k prowess, after the update since I have a handful of characters I'm bumped up to like 190k and I'm fighting people above 200k

I have been getting matched with people countries away from me now. It says we have a 5 bar connection then when we get into a game it goes down to 1 or 2 happens almost every game for me now.
Idk how to feel about this tbh. Honestly me personally I like it, I love fighting people stronger than me and I almost exclusively play hwoarang so I don't see it being an issue for myself but I can see people ranking up alts having a potentially very bad time. But like I think having people in a relatively close level of skill is good overall. Idk why anyone would want to go and just beat up on some green ranks who don't even know how the game works yet when you're like blue or above, I'd never get any enjoyment out of that at all so I guess I'm okay with the change
7:23 - 7:35 I've played 231 Quick Matches, only know that 'cuz I looked this morning, and I don't know if I've run into *anyone* more than once, much less twice in a row.
If there's truly been a change, I haven't really noticed it. My Reina's a Garyu, my Prowess is currently 119,428, but I started playing Lili a few days ago and most of the ranked matches I've had were against greens and yellows while Lili was green and yellow. I got a few matches against people 6+ ranks above me, but that was happening a lot before the change.

They mentioned that "high level" Tekken starts at Tekken King, so it might just be the case that they created a some kind "high level" pool that starts from 230k prowess.

And its exactly like that. I just hit Tekken King recently, my Prowess went up to 230k and now, Tekken 8 is a compleley different game.
Ranks are completely meaningless now.
I play everything from Raijin to Tekken Emporeor and everyone is a beast with around 230k as well.
The difficulty spiked extremely and now Im sorrounded only by Pro-Players

Definetly an issue below, got 3 Chars at Mighty/Flame Ruler and a couple of red ranks hovering around 160k and my red rank matches are *insane* now
Basically everyone is so good that it's hell to pick up a new character that is more difficult to pilot because every opponent will have amazing fundamentals
I was willing to deal with plugging, the cash shop, battle pass, stupid balancing, ect. This has made me stop. It takes forever to get matches and playing new characters is like running into a brick wall.
I have 430k+ and it’s because I have something like 20 chars at Tekken king+. I agree with you on this one, it’s not a great change, every fight I have including Quick matches is an actual sweat box, I don’t mind sweating it out, but every single match? Even in quick matches? I don’t think so. I’m glad iv already achieved my goals with tekken I’ll just say that 🤣

Noone could seriously think that matching every character based on your main is a good idea. All your characters will plateau at different ranks. Ranked mode is supposed to decide where. If we're matched on prowess, they have to get rid of ranks entirely. Rank is pointless now since someone with higher prowess need to beat harder opponents to keep the exact same rank. This is how it works now, because Tekken have a very basic win/loss reward system that vastly undervalues beating someone 1-2 ranks higher.
If you're matched with higher ranks than usual because your main is a bit higher, you will just rank up slower. This doesn't solve anything.
The only ones who like the change are scrubs who can't take losses. They see that someone have 30k higher prowess and then call it unfair that they lost. I bet these so called higher ranked players weren't even on winstreaks. I certainly haven't noticed a trend of players with big winstreaks when I've been ranking up. Most players have to grind 100 games to get the final 2 ranks on their main. They're not just going to fly through those last 3 ranks on their alts. The exceptions who do will just promote and move on, and we all have to play them.
The only issue with the old system was that the auto-promotions were set too low. But instead of fixing the issue, they made things worse. These ppl 6 ranks under their main will still dominate with this system. The prowess system can't match them up with players 4-8 ranks higher, so they will just get matched like normal.
I feel completely ripped off. I never would have bought this game if I knew they were going to have this kind of matchmaking system. I'd rather play T7, where everybody is still fighting for ranks at equal terms.
quickmatch and ranked apply the same matching rules even if it doesn't propose the same filters at the creation. When I go to quick match, I go set the ranking match filter to "no rank limitation" before to play with everyone. I don't know the plus of not proposing the filter the way it is working now though...
I just want a way to filter out people using wifi as opposed to having to to manually do it. Like you let me never play against someone on wifi, but I have to check every time. Silly

The thing is it kinda makes sense to protect newbies from Madman’s like you 😂 but I experience the same I played 2 hours and had 7 Matches 5 vs Emperor and 2 vs Ace witch I all played the last time I played.

The main issue with matchmaking being based primarily on prowess is that it invalidates the ranking system entirely. Prowess should exist as a representation of your peak rank with your main character but have no affect on MM. My side characters start in yellow rank as my main is in purple, but I've yet to have a match in yellow ranks against someone with less than 120k prowess. What this does IMO is it isolates bad players from anyone who knows what they're doing. This is just another system that T8 has put in place to cater towards the experience of bad/new players. It's the same reason Eddy and Victor have 1 button combos. I think for long term health of the game, MM based purely on current rank with the character is the most fair system to all players.
Oh, I thought it was odd that I was only running into people around my rank in Quick Match, where I normally match with people of whatever rank. This makes sense.
I'm Shinryu and I was Quick Matching with people from upper orange to lower red ranks.
I just noticed that yesterday. I have king on tekken king now and was playing kaz at ruler ranks and it were only people with 240k+ prowess. People at ruler ranks usually have 120-140k. So it were only people also running side characters

i’m a 200k prowess kazuya as a fujin. I got matched with a god of destruction lee and it confused me so hard but i’m open to the challenge.

I ranked up several characters pre-patch, I currently have 3 bushins and 1 tekken king at 260k prowess. Now, the game decided to match me up only against GoD players. Now I only win 2 out of 10 games. This is ridiculous.

Im battle ruler, and on the way from mighty ruler i fought NOTHING but fujins the whole time. All because i have a few characters in red and Leo in rulers.
If i play a character i barely know like bears or something i will find fujins.
This just makes wanting to play other characters a nightmare for me because i literally cant find people around my level with the character
Though at the same time im glad this IS benefitting the emperors and such who would only ever match up with pro player sub characters

alot of players are getting humbled by fighting same skill and there losing there ranks at the same rate. there match up is all about there highest rank achievement. i was deranked from tekken king to fujin and worked my way back to bushin during all of this and i truely feel proud im what my skill actually is . ive been playing mainly tekken kings and gods along with bushin and raijin players. im extremely comfortabnle fighting them and it has only helped me stop my bad habits fight terrible players who so happened to hit high ranks from cheating or cheesing

Im flame ruler and i got matched up against a god of destruction in quick match make it make sense
they should really just have unlimited matches along with a filter for ranks you dont want to be versing if you so choose, that way if you dont feel like getting stomped you would run into that issue less and there should be a limitation obviously like a brawlers running into gods, or maybe an time limited avoid system like 10 20 30 min to 2 days most so youd eventually run into players again but still avoid certain ranks/players for the time being.
options should be there as a suggestion not so much the rule
cause there is good that comes from facing people much better than you but at the same time it would be nice to not face that, at least it not be consistent, but thats my take on making things more enjoyable for players in quick match.

The lowest rank you actually fought wasn't the 233,053 Bushin, but it was 154,770 Flame Ruler, at the 16:44 mark of the video
Im at 215k Tekken prowess and face G.O.D players with over 350k prowess. Its so fuckin hard to climb man.
As usual the devs don't even consider regions outside their own. Oceania naturally has a smaller population and so matches took longer to find as a result, this latest update has exacerbated the problem to the point where playing your main is near impossible and you're practically forced to play alts just to find matches.

I hit red rank with Leo but I’m honestly not that great at the game and Leo was a bit of a difficult grind. I decided to switch to Feng yesterday just to give it a try. I hopped into quick play thinking since I was default yellow with my other characters it would pair me with someone similar since I didn’t know Fengs moves all that well yet. Nope, high reds and purples only, I got smoked every game. I went into ranked and I swear it seemed like the game was struggling to find people to match under my prowess and rank. I got paired against the same guy 3 times in a row which has never happened to me before ever. He was a green rank Jack with high 140k prowess
It's somewhat good since you'll olay against players your level regardless of the rank, but i get that playing different characters isn't the same as playing your main.
The issue is prowess is just "play time" and playing a lot of characters increases it. This makes weaker players play against legacy ones.
It's got more cons than pros i guess. Hopefully this gets better in the near future.
It matched me against one person the whole time I was online (I’m red rank). I was very confused the whole time, also sucked because they were lower rank than me and it wasn’t giving any ranked points
So this is why my fujin azucena was matched against the destroyer Leroy. Poor guy had no chance 😂
The Update did nothing, I cant play any side char because im basically matched with the same ppl as I get with my main, how the hell am im supposed to improve ? Quickmatch is even worse, getting matched against tekken emperor, kings etc, gap too wide I cant learn shit.
Idk if it’s a skill issue or because I took a 2 week break but ever since this update the game just seems so much harder. I went from kishin to fujin and I sometimes bounce back into battle ruler but usually promote right out back into blue. I’m just getting my ass beat into the ground and Fujin feels so much harder than I remembered
Exactly! I bought the game a month ago and blue ranks feels ‚harder‘ than back in T7. I also think its bc of the whole game mechanics changing and im still not completely used to it, but i dont unterstand the matchmaking or the game in general atm. Just feels strange :(

It 100% affects quick match. I only fight people at my rank or higher now. My friend has 10K TP and he fights only complete beginners. He will never run into me in quick match.
You will never see me using multiple characters. I wanted to pick up a secondary but it's not worth the potential of longer queue times. I get matches within 15 seconds and I'm keeping it that way. I'm not leaving Purple ranks until I see the next report of rank distribution.
I will stick where the majority of players are by playing quick matches and I pity those who felt the need to grind ranked incessantly.
that king was at the prowess they were supposed to be at. either that or they demoted from tekken king.
I keep getting matched up with people 2 ranks lower than me getting points has been hell enough already now I barely see other shinryu's lol
I thought prowess was a combination of the different moves you use in a match/how well u block and punish/ and how often you side step. Only because in T7 i only mained Miguel and back when Id only use launcher moves like df2,1 and ratley side stepped my prowess in rank capped out at like 16k after i practiced a ton in quick matches and actually learned miguel properly and went back to rank my prowess immediately skyrocketed to the 250-300k and miguels the only character I played in T7 (only cause i stopped playing for a few years and got back into in the last few months)

I am not a high rank player and i have to fight players like top tier....
i got 250k and when i play ranked with a side character after 10 minutes without a match sometimes they'll match me against a low ranked player \ i played 6 matches with a dan 11 as a mighty ruler
Since it's only a ft2 It seems redundant to have prowess matchmaking
nobody likes that change from what ive seen so far and ye its lame
I feel like we’re getting farther and farther away from the game being balanced… already they’ve changed a bit much before we even got to break into the competitive scene and really showcase this game but now we’re in a spot of uncertainty, and this will turn off a lot of people no matter if it’s casual’s or beginners, everyone should be able to play with anyone as far as quick matches, RANKED should be the only section of the game where your prowess should be measured around the people of your same caliber and skills, I don’t understand it and me personally it’s a big turn off having to wait upwards of 5 to almost 10 minutes just to find a match that might not even be a player that’s as skilled as I am but because they have a certain prowess we’re matched together.. idk what’s going on but I hope this gets changed if they want the game to succeed and sell they need to think logically about these types of decisions they make concerning this game.
My perspective is really simple. Matchmaking based in Prowess is garbage. If I am currently at Bushin means I have achieved to be in the top 5 percent of the player basis. Why should I be just matching with that 5 percent. Noooo, my man I should be playing how is truly fair, with all the 100 percent of the players and whooping some a…ss. If you do not like that, improve. That is fair.
From the low rank percentage perspective is not that bad, from 100 matches you will have 5 matches against those people. Everybody is happy.

the pattern so far is that tekken prowess goes up considerably when you rank up. so if you have five garyu’s you’ll have around the same amount of prowess as someone who has ONE raijin/bushin . if you have like 5 fujins, you’ll have around the same amount of prowess as someone who’s at tekken god.
some time it goes up when you lose, sometimes it goes down when you win. it don’t make any fucking sense.
even worse this change invalidates all the filter systems they made for the game.
I hit raijin with my Asuka, bunch of 242k matches iut of nowhere, put me back at flame ruler :/

You have to actually play with different characters. Because i'm only a fujin And mine is around 232000 Which I believe it should be around two hundred if you hit tekken king But it has completely ruined my experience.I'm a person that likes to play More than one character.
So i'm playing tekken kings and higher You're not gonna really notice it a lot like that because you're already a high level player, but somebody who's around my skill level but likes to play a lot of characters. It makes it extremely difficult and not enjoyable. It should be going by their highest ranked character, not by prowess. So, say, if I'm using a second character, that's only a mighty ruler.I don't mind facing somebody who's using their main.That's a fujin But getting thrown against very difficult competition. Just because I like to play a lot of characters kind of sucks.
There arent so many pro players it would be an issue to fight them every now and then at fujin. who cares about a few people on alts. makes legit 0 difference in the long term. i have like half of the cast at fujin. my main is at tekken king (never been higher) and im at like 310k tekken prowess. so even on my main im only running into smurfs so.... you know. i mean atleast ill get nice practice so theres that.
Hey I have 250k prowess and my highest rank is Tekken King. I have a few fujin and 2 other kishin so idk how any of this works
My friend from the same city and with 1k less tekken prowess starts matchmaking at the same time as i do - we still sit in queue for like 5 min, before i get matched with someone from America (we’re in EU).

Hwoarang players should only be matched with other Hwoarang players. That'd be the best matchmaking.
I like the change. I play only 2 characters, so my prowess is 200k ish with my main being kishin. Before the change a lot of my matches were against GoD players on other characters, and it is very demoralizing as a new tekken player. I have no Idea how prowess is calculated though, so I cant say much in terms of that, but my games seem to be more balanced after the patch.
Yeah I’m not a fan I’m not good I’m low red rank but because I have like 4 characters in red cus I like to change characters and I’ve ended up in games with in blue and purple like bro no I’m not good😂
Thing is yes you are cursed to play the same people for being pro but the other option is just bully shit players 😅 🤷♀️ there’s a happy medium and I believe we will get there system will be accessed and tweaked and I also believe they will listen to players and bring back the option of death matches 😊

Fighting players better than you makes you better. This is a good change. People are too afraid and hurt by losing. It’s incredible how many people don’t rematch because they’re so butt hurt, especially when players who have more prowess to me lose. The ego is fragile for many.
I don't fully agree, getting your ass beat by someone way better than you and not understanding why kinda does nothing for no one
@@K-Wiss But there are replays. There are opportunities to use these matches as a stepping stone. We get better. If we lose today, we end up winning tomorrow. The alternative was how it was before, where we just smash people who are way below the skill level. How is that good? Unless you’re coaching someone, it doesn’t help. I think I like it this way better. Granted, ranking up is a bit of a slower process now, but it feels more gratifying.
Personally the only valid complaint is if we’re waiting forever to find a match. From what I’ve noticed, however, is that if we wait past a certain point, the match making is loosened so we can run into a people with less prowess (or much more).
(Also, what I’ve noticed too is that if you’re fighting the same person again and again, if you take a little break, or if you turn off matchmaking and then turn it back on, you’ll start being matched with different people. )
@@K-Wiss one last thing, something I thought about last night. When I used to play the computer, I’d turn it on ultra hard. Never could play Tekken unless it was on ultra hard. It’s so fun for me to struggle for the win. The way it was before felt as if the game was set to easy mode. Some people like that, but I find “easy mode” to be incredibly boring.
A challenge is fun and all, but if the game is not fun then whats the point of getting better at it?
People want a challenge that isn't a complete impossiblity for the first 10+ times you do it until you finally have it down, thats not fun and its objectively terrible game design.

You are wrong. Tekken Prowess is clearly a better way of matchmaking than rank. Lately I've had better opponents at my own skill-level because they have the same prowess, not a Tekken God on his 5th character ranking up. Tekken Gods clearly knows how to play Tekken, break throws, duck strings and sidestep etc. They have no business playing a red rank or a purple rank.
I just finished my statistic of my last 100 matches, and I've never lost to anyone with significant lower prowess than me, and I've never won against nayone with significant higher prowess than me. That's more than I can say about ranks. So Tekken prowess is clearly the better way of measuring how much 'Tekken' you know. It's a better matchmaking for 90% of the players. But maybe not for the top elites of Tekken Gods and above.
