(SPOLERS) The Speedkicks vs Joecrush storyline is incredible. Day 2 Alisa, Joe reads his chat and gets tilted and loses WF. Claws his way back by restoring his mental game and wins the whole thing with 15 total games. Absolutely insane
Definitely made sense for Speedkicks to stay Alisa against Jack-8. Jack-8 is one of the highest range characters in the game and also is very neutral dominant and Hwoarang has very poor range and no easy ways to neutral skip and circumvent that disadvantage. Also Jack-8’s armor stance and backwards movement is probably better than most characters at dealing with Hwoarangs insane pressure up close. Meanwhile Alisa has a much much lower range disadvantage against Jack-8, can actually evade some of his moves unlike most of the cast, has crazy forward movement to get in his face and abuse his framedata, and has chainsaws to shred his armor. I don’t know whether it’s a negative matchup for Jack(though it certainly might be) but definitely a worse matchup than against Hwoarang.
Speedkick is lucky Shadow20z didn't enter, he actually knows the Alisa matchup and would've bodied him free. He also had an easy path in terms of opponents, the only tough opponent he got was JoeCrush (whose character is kinda bad against Alisa). Lucky he didn't get Averiey_RiB.
