This is Nauman's 7th tournament win in the last 18 months and 6 of them came in t7. He has beaten players such as Atif, Arslan, Heera, Dawood and Farzeen. Numan also trusts his main so much that he picked Steve vs Marduk(Atif), Akuma(Farzeen twice), Feng (Heera) and now Azucena. This guy is insane and i am so happy that Numan has been picked by a team.
Heera and Atif, in order, used to be the best Steve players in Pakistan but Numan's improvement in last 2 years is phenomenal. The best Steve players in the world for me considering noone has done better than Nauman in the last 2 years and definitely not in Tekken 8. He got 2nd and 3rd in other dojos. Also won a 12 player tournament
I definitelyyy think people need to stop thinking just because someone is good with a weak character doesnt make the character strong it makes the player all the more impressive
By design the character makes you fundamentally better than your average competition for the most part thats why i play him. Makes you play active tekken unlike most of the top tiers rn.
I think the Steve "buffs" are actually just fixes. I think that giving him a new stance that forces him to commit to said stance; that gets beat by powercrush and RA is stupid. He has no scary lows, his mids are MID and he has no launchers. So I think the rework will make him closer to his former glory without making him broken.
Steve "buffs" were like: now you can actually LH 50/50 after hitting a -30 no range footstomp that does 20dmg and now stance transitions are not bugged anymore HWOORAY!!
He doesnt have a legit safe launcher or a fast one, its mostly just counter hit launches. The one from LH is the only whiff punishing launcher he has and thats only if you read a move is coming and do the backsway (outfox) to get into it so conditioning or reading timings is still needed.

You make tekken such a magical experience again which I love. I came back to tekken to try 8 having only played 4 as a kid. The game was fun but everywhere I looked was really negative and I let it influence me quite a bit. Your content brought me back to and shows me why I love this game. It’s so fun to see and look forward to making these adjustments and growths as a player and witnessing others do it. Anyways that was a rant but I hope anyone that reads this has a nice day :)
yeah spinning down 2- seemed like a lot of players at the end of T7 could deal with it pretty easily by just reacting to it or low parrying it. Downback+2 similar problem, really reactable but I dunno, I guess I do know that the slower timing might throw off someone's low parry.
I'm not trying to throw shade at other Tekken 8 RUclipsrs but doing so anyways, you're one of the few Tekken 8 content creators who actually puts effort into match reviews and therefore one of the few gives interesting comentary and insight that we couldn't otherwise get from just watching them live.
Before watching this video, i definitely think the main thing he needs to have lion stance be a real 50/50, instead of being to break free from it with armor move. Other than that, maybe more consistent combos. Another buff is that steve's b1 doesn't hit victor at round start distance but hit everyone else properly
Yeah Steve doesn't need buffs, he is already one of the most frustrating opponents to fight with. One of the biggest movelist, yet almost all moves look the exact same. I think there is no other character I hate more. 😅 Hope his pick rate won't go up too much... at least I didn't had to fight him often up until now. He and bears get no rematches. 😅
All they need to do is let all of the transitions into LH let us cancel them or implement a way for us to go into peekaboo stance since they dont want us to have a laucher, let us be a mixup character and that's pretty much it in my opinion
I agree, I mastered the 1 frame tech from LH into PKB for nothing since their removing it so it remove the mixup options, especially since the opponent still just decides between a 31 damage poke from the guardbreak, or to duck and give me a chance to launch or get heat, which leads to a pretty obvious choice unless they're very defensive and get caught in LH mix alot
Most things have been dumbed down, even for Steve. It is true you have to change your mindset from the Tekken 7 style, but it doesn’t require much learning, just reconditioning. Then, I just want to say, these top tier characters don’t even have to learn Tekken in general, so it’s somewhat a fair complaint lol.
I got obliterated by a steve last night. 15 win streak at orange rank with 100k prowess. He killed me 0-3 so fast that I legitimately thought he was cheating. But no, this character is just a hard read/mixup monster. Hes going to be a nightmare.
High level gameplay reviews are fun and all but I want to see more low - mid ranks replay reviews too. I think they are much more beneficial to newer and intermediate players who plateau.
Unsurprisingly Steve is fine. The problem being the Steve players makes sense. If you can beat one of the best people to ever play the game with a "weak character", then the character isn't weak.
Even the best of us fall to the mental stack, it’s healthy imo that even the top guys are needing to adjust to this new game and letting other players shine, should be an interesting 5-10 years.
Im not gonna lie... his style of steve wasnt anything new to me. I feel like i play a similar Steve. This is my 1st time playing Tekken, and i main Steve. Not sure what the correct form of how to play him.. so i just do what i can lol. I do think Steve needs a major buff though. Its so easy to play against him.
Buppamen and Shinblade would also make you think he doesn't need any. Any problems I've had with him I look at as a skill issue on my part. Not gonna be mad at any buffs though
I think you had a previous video on this but i think some players respect minus frames too much and then end up eating deadly mixups for it. Like its okay to mash when your opponent is taking too much of an advantage of plus frames by doing long moves.
Im a little torn, not being anywhere near the pro scene and dealing with him is really tough sometimes i dont like the idea, but if buffing him, and others helps that scene and by virtue helps Tekken get more attention and support, I can get behind it. As long of defensive options are viable and "good" for those of us who commit to learning how.
yes ofcourse. would be nice if lionheart had more than 3 rock paper scissor options. PAB and flicker got cool things, lotta options and grabs too. but oh well it is what it is, but let me say that steve is a boxer i think lionheart stance should be able to dodge just like Ali in real life was dodging punches (but no they gave that to azucena lol). ik they know this because lionheart in heat dodges mids so.... you know what im saying?
Steves i run into are either easy dubs or absolute nightmares. I think he is good but lacks a lot of tools that make him easily accessible. He is like a boxing variation of mishima.

db32 needs to be +15 so steve can reliably commit to lnh mix. It being +8 isnt enough as he can only callout checks with lnh1 and he can still get punch parried/flashed (flashed if he does guard break albeit it would trade at +15). If they want to keep the frames as is then lnh1 needs to ch launch to punish people mashing at -8 because as it stands, it is not rewarding enough if youre having to make that callout on someone pressing before you can even consider committing to your mix.
Absolutely he does lol. One of the only characters in the game that you can say has absolutely nothing unfair against his opponent, which goes to show Steve isn't very threatening to most players. Yeah he'll counterhit the shit out of you, but he won't be rushing you down with evasive nonsense that does a million damage. Extremely hard to hit a B1 in this game, and that's proven by even a top player like Numan almost never landing one. And without B1, is there really anything about Steve that is immediately threatening? Jab pressure has easy counterplay for most characters and his lows are objectively bad.
One thing people seem to fail to understand or realise, is that Steve's Movelist is one of the most potent Long Set Toolbags in the entire game. He doesn't spam Normal Hit Launchers, but his Stances are all good. Many characters in Tekken have Stances where either the Stance itself is very difficult to get into vs good Players, or only have one or two good options so it skews the risk/reward game. Steve's Albatross, Flicker, Peekaboo, Sway Left, Sway Right, Back Sway, and Duck-In all have more than one good option attached to them that you can use in a real Match. Steve's Stances aren't highlight reel Stances where it's hype because they used a Move that's garbage to win, they're all good, and actually very usable in a Match. His Mental Stack is real because Steve has over 100 Moves that he can use. So even if it's very difficult to win with simple tools, it also means that conversely, creative Players that also happen to have excellent Fundamentals can literally present more problems to deal with than almost any other character.
feel like the main problem is he has good options but he doesn't get much reward off of a good amount of them, for example I wanted to test Steve's damage output with my friends who was playing Alisa at the time, I did my LH combo which is 71 damage, he did 2 chainsaw pokes and it did about 68. The range on so many of his moves end up being a problem a good amount of the time, especially on his heat smash, which is why they're changing it. Almost every if not every character has over 100 moves so I don't understand that point, but I do agree that using Steve creatively will get you far but the opportunities end up being dampened with how glitchy he is, there are many times me and my friends just sit there and laugh at the times I would've won a match if moves didn't randomly whiff and make me negative or have steve just get forced out of blocking in peekaboo, If Steve worked as intended without all the bugs i'd 100% agree with you.
@@litfrvr1552 Steve's movelist is all about stance transitions. Unlike other characters with stances that can be used in any situation, Steve's stances each have a specific purpose and are crucial for controlling the match flow. The match typically starts with a poke game to test the opponent. From there, you build a plan based on whether to pressure or play defensively. Based on that, you have the option to go from a defensive (Flicker, Sway, Duck) or offensive (Peekabo, LionHeart) stance. Learning Steve's movelist is essential. Each move has a specific purpose and timing, providing a pool of options to adapt to situations. Unlike characters with generic tools, Steve relies on his entire kit, fundamental game understanding, and matchup knowledge to succeed.
Now that Arslan Ash, the best player in the world, playing Azucena, arguably the strongest character in the game has been beaten by a Steve Fox which is F tier. I wonder what he has to say not about Tekken 8
all LH moves should not have armor, LH 2 would be a nightmare for people to deal with, it'd mean I essentially get a free tornado if I see my opponent do a move, and b1 should just be -10 or 12 I think, being -14 is kinda crazy
The fact that Numan had to outplay Arslan so hard means Steve needs buffs. Always happy to see Azu get destroyed. Nothing against Arslan of course but ever since he switched to Zaf in T7 and then Kuni and now Azu and Jun... God, I despise his character picks...
"Arslan has to contain that beast constantly mashing" yeah that's exactly IT ! that's why some characters are so strong and some players manage to get a good rank, just mash the F out of your opponent. That's pure no skill, that's no "read" ...
I think he needs something new. The new stance is cool, but it ain't enough. Something new, like how Law got Nunchucks ( even though i think he didn't need it💀).
@@PhiDX they should give him a billy club move to replace 4,1,2 that launches on CH like his old CH 4,1,2 and can be -14 on block. Since they're nerfing tornados, he doesnt need it, and its already redundant and less damage than 3,1,2.
not every character should be top tier to be balanced game. Some characters are harder to squeeze out their full kit to reach their full potential and that's ok. As we seen in Tekken past specialists characters over time is very entertaining at the highest level that's so exciting and refreshing (instead of seeing 3 drags top 8). However, you could buff them a bit still tho.
Yes. Obviously yes. He's not trash, but he's underpowered. If he judt had a counterhit launching mid he would be comfortable A tier, but his launching moves are slow or get evaded.

Jab pressure has easy counterplay for most characters and his lows are objectively bad.
glad you covered it
One thing people seem to fail to understand or realise, is that Steve's Movelist is one of the most potent Long Set Toolbags in the entire game.
Azucena is probably the most cheesy character.
I love seeing the hate comment pins lmaoooo
What ive learned is that i have to submit myself to a chaos god to play this character at a high level. You think tzeench is taking applicants?
Love this format dude :D
How would I contact you about coaching
I remember him saying on stream that he’s taking a break from coaching i believe
I remember him saying on stream that he’s taking a break from coaching
Now that Arslan Ash, the best player in the world, playing Azucena, arguably the strongest character in the game has been beaten by a Steve Fox which is F tier. I wonder what he has to say not about Tekken 8
who let this red rank into gamers galaxy, and why is he my new god
lol - numan embodies the phrase, "crazy like a fox" Pun intended!
As a completely unbiased non-Steve main, who hates the character Give all LNH moves armor and make B1 plus on block.
all LH moves should not have armor, LH 2 would be a nightmare for people to deal with, it'd mean I essentially get a free tornado if I see my opponent do a move, and b1 should just be -10 or 12 I think, being -14 is kinda crazy
@@litfrvr1552 I was joking lmao
Steve deserves a game of being low tier. He's been S+ for too many games in a row.
The fact that Numan had to outplay Arslan so hard means Steve needs buffs. Always happy to see Azu get destroyed. Nothing against Arslan of course but ever since he switched to Zaf in T7 and then Kuni and now Azu and Jun... God, I despise his character picks...
Numan is Numan... Steve is Steve... ;)
So basically, Numan is Jack Sparrow? Looks like a stumbling madman on the outside, but inside is constantly calculating and outplaying you
Hehe boi i was waiting for phdix to react on Nouman CH lesgoo
That was sick, thanks
"Arslan has to contain that beast constantly mashing" yeah that's exactly IT ! that's why some characters are so strong and some players manage to get a good rank, just mash the F out of your opponent. That's pure no skill, that's no "read" ...
I think he needs something new. The new stance is cool, but it ain't enough. Something new, like how Law got Nunchucks ( even though i think he didn't need it💀).
Yeah Steve gotta throw his gloves or something
@@PhiDX they should give him a billy club move to replace 4,1,2 that launches on CH like his old CH 4,1,2 and can be -14 on block. Since they're nerfing tornados, he doesnt need it, and its already redundant and less damage than 3,1,2.
You have become my main tekken RUclips channel lol
not every character should be top tier to be balanced game. Some characters are harder to squeeze out their full kit to reach their full potential and that's ok. As we seen in Tekken past specialists characters over time is very entertaining at the highest level that's so exciting and refreshing (instead of seeing 3 drags top 8). However, you could buff them a bit still tho.
Yes. stop the cap 👁
I understand you want to explain everything but I think it would help if you played the full round then went back and paused
Yes. Obviously yes. He's not trash, but he's underpowered.
If he judt had a counterhit launching mid he would be comfortable A tier, but his launching moves are slow or get evaded.
Yes he does
your vids need buffs man.
Wait, so does Steve really need buffs? NO lol
