Back in the 90's I used to live across the street from Fat Cats Deli and Pub in Louisville. On any given Friday, Scott and Jimmy would play happy hour there ...with no cover. Man, I sure miss those days.
At .57 seconds they were officially on different beats when Dad looks over. Scott was behind his beat. He could barely hear because of his ear disease as other segments of this clinic reveal. Interesting that he was able to just to restart with wherever Scott was. He usually didn't do that.
Jon, I've come to realize the incredible importance of this clip, your father's catalog and legacy is immense, but there are very few video gems of this type, I start and end my guitar studies here daily, gratitude, BGJ
We love Jimmy, great to see thisl.. Me and some of the hard rockers would stop by Fat Cats to grab and get 'paisted' by these two, prior to leaving for our later gigs.... thanks, Jim, Scott and my mentor, Charlie Quilan
Love how Scott quoted snippets of Jimmy's incredible solo of this song on that silver colored album, The Influence. I think that solo is my favorite recorded Jimmy Raney solo (though there's plenty of his recordings I haven't heard yet). In fact, OK I'll say it - I think it's one of the best damn jazz guitar solos of all time! And Sam Jones - laying down the bottom like he does best, just giving Jimmy the perfect ocean underneath to float on. Both impeccable. Please check that one out. It's worth the hunt. The album cover also has my favorite photo of Jimmy, just in it. I want that song played at both my wedding and my funeral.
Love this but have a question: I've noticed that Scott ( and others I've seen like Grant Geisman for example) are always reaching for the volume or tone control while soloing. Is there some reason or is this like a nervous tick? I might occasionally adjust my volume, but this is like every other measure.
All, we need to acknowledge the passing of the uploader and particpator in this clinic, Scott Henderson. If you need more info please visit my site. RIP Scott
I really enjoy this---I'm sending it over to my GUITAR teacher from Saugus, California-this reminds me of her RUclipss too--Thank you for these--going to send to PDrake and Freddy M223
I do it every 2 measures. Maybe that’s why I’m not that good. Will try 4. Alternative answer is the aphorism that good players are masters of their guitar. Great players are masters of their tone as well.
It's not the Scott Henderson I was expecting either...different Scott Henderson apparently. But then again that Scott Henderson isn't a bebopper. Man what a player!
@@michaelrains3657 I didn’t realize that Scott had passed. Was this the Bellarmine Jazz Guitar Clinic? I may have been there. I think I attended at least 20 of them. I only missed two or three.
What a delight! Two masters!!

Jimmy's timing 😮 it's perfect

Scott Henderson- hilarious!!
Different Scott Henderson, a namesake.
And this Scott is really good, too!
Jimmy could kill these tunes all day and night , one of , if not the best bebop guitar players of all time

1:33 Really nice pedal point from Scott
I love Jimmy Raney.....But please where is Scott Hélder sonho! !!
좋은 음악
That's some bright jangly tone. Guess it's all a matter of preference.
Jimmy Raney: the best jazz guitarist in the world. Go man, go!!! :-)
That is HEND SCOTTERSON
What's up with Henderson and his control knobs every 4 + - measures ?!!.
I do it every 2 measures. Maybe that’s why I’m not that good. Will try 4. Alternative answer is the aphorism that good players are masters of their guitar. Great players are masters of their tone as well.
Is the volume knob thing a nervous twitch???
Scot Henderson????????
What guitar is Jimmy playing in this clip?
His Hofner Zoller. Extremely rare. Only 4 made. Pat Metheny has one.
Man ese no es Scot Henderson...
プレイは非常に良い。スタジオ内では、長いパンツを履いてほしい。
scott was a bit bigger than now a day..
Jimmy Raney = genius
That's not Scott Henderson

This is John Scott Henderson, my buddy and childhood friend from Louisville so many years ago. He passed away at 53 in 2011. I miss him very much ...
