    I so want to try for Sheepshead. I just can't convince my dad to let us anchor our tidewater between the pilings.
    I'm surprised you didn't come up with any black drum. They tend to go for crabs out at the pilings if they're around. Even in late Summer, people still catch them.

    • @reedb2369
      @reedb2369 Год назад

      same problem here lol. My dad and I came up with an idea to anchor up a little bit outside of the pillings and to try our best to cast towards them.

    Just wanted to drop a line to say how happy I am to find this channel. I've never fished a day in my life, but am hoping to pick up the hobby soon. Your videos are super informative, I'll be going back through and watching all of them. Any videos that showcase the different gear you use? I'm actually in Virginia Beach, maybe I'll see you out there one day! Thanks.

    Jesse try this. The guy that taught me how to catch them told me drop it too the bottom and start raising the pole slowly and when you feel any resistance at all set the hook. The same day he showed me I got a 8 pounder. Try it it works.

    I have fished for and caught those fish around the CBBT for years from a boat not a Kayak. I use much heavier tackle on them. Tog tackle really. I dont let them take any drag. Good job on landing those.

  • @lostlilsol
    @lostlilsol 6 лет назад

    Nice catch!
    I normally use 20 lb braid mainline, 12-18 inch 30 lb flourocarbon leader, with split shot weight, and owners ssw size 1 or 2 hook.

    • @SouthernReelsFishing
      @SouthernReelsFishing  6 лет назад

      Line and leader size are good, but definitely need bigger hooks and more weight out there for the current, minimum 2 oz weight up to 4 oz depending on current. These sheepys will bite a hook clean off

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge in this video. I only fish inshore like standing on the jetties for Sheepshead because I don’t have a Kayak, but watching you motivates me to buy one. What brand&model is your Kayak? How much? I notice it is very calm when you fish. What app do you use to check the water movement? I read your comment that you Use a Gamagatsu 2/0 hook, but what kind? Is it live bait hook? What’s the make&model of your sonar device?How much? I want to fish like how you do it.

    • @SouthernReelsFishing
      @SouthernReelsFishing  4 года назад

      Lots of questions my friend, most are answered in my vids. I like Hobie Outbacks for kayaks. I have used several sonar over the years. It is not always calm, you have to pick the right days. Nautide for tides, fishcurrents for tide timing. Live bait hooks.

      Southern Reels Fishing Thanks , just wanted to have the experience of fishing the Chesapeake bridge and get a pic with a sheepshead there. The reason for a guide would be to tell me when and where we can park the truck for the day.

    • @SouthernReelsFishing
      @SouthernReelsFishing  6 лет назад

      Parking is the biggest pain there, it is very limited. I am still not completely sure what is safe myself honeslty. I know you can park on the side of the street that leads to chics beach as long as your tires are off the road, but there are very limited spots. Other than that your guess is as good as mine. I normally just get there at 5 am and I have no problems lol...
