Took another trip out to the Chesapeake Bay to work on my technique for catching Giant Bull Redfish! It was a stellar day on the water! Tackle, techniques, and bait explanations included!

Down here in Florida we catch them on 4000 with 20 pound leader lol nice fish bro ! Never got over 40 yet
Some of the BEST fights! Nothing quite as nice as seeing that bait it the water and then you rod turnin in to a U two seconds later!

I do wear an inflatable around my waist at all times, it is not easily seen in most of my footage but it is there
Man some people say that red drum are just trophy fish.. I think they are one of the best tasting fish you can surf fish for
They are delicious, but definitely only keep the slot size ones. I prefer 20 to 24 inchers

Just recently picked up a Seigler SG Lefty. Lovin it! Killled it in Panama with this reel. Keep fishing bud and tight lines!

Solid fish there bo. That water gets sketchy on the shoal when the wind picks up or the tide changes on you.

I love those! I just started fishing from a kayak too. I have caught them from a boat but they way they pull, i was afraid they would flip my kayak. How the heck do you keep so vertical when they are off to the side like that? I can see the benefit of the pedal drive there over the paddle too.
Not sure how I just kind lean and it stays upright. Maybe its the Hobie I dont know

Any recommendations on what power for jigging rods? I want to get one to do this with but I don't want to go too heavy
Most any jigging heavier rod will get them up. Your gonna need a reel with decent drag capabilities. The low profile Quantums I use aren't strong enough with thumbing it to help
@@SouthernReelsFishing thanks for the reply. I bought a medium heavy trevala and I already had a daiwa sl30sh that I was using for my heaver. That reel is more than enough I think, I just need to locate some big drum now lol

That last red you caught had a very odd shape to its head and face. I’ve caught hundreds if not over a thousand reds in my lifetime, but I’ve never seen one like that. Beautiful fish though.

I know but you already know the area. I have already seen the effects on other fishing spots I like that my videos have had. And I don't really want that trend to continue. I tried a bridge close by last year and there was almost no one out there each trip, and I posted some videos. This year there were so many folks there it was crazy. Not cool...
