In this video I begin discussing everything I know about Sheepshead fishing. This is the first of a 2 part video on this subject. I didn't want to make the video too long so I broke it up into 2 videos. Please take some time and watch and please comment if you have any tips that you would like to add. Thanks! - Хобби
Best video yet from someone who hasn't had ANY success with sheepshead. My wife and I have fed them lots of fiddlers. Gonna give it another try down here in Jacksonville. Thanks for covering the types of rigs/weights. Good delivery. Will try your method first, with the bank sinker.
Thanks for taking the time to walk us newbies through this process. Very well done.
Great information! Fast becoming one of my favorite channels!
Great to hear!
Great information man, I appreciate it. I'm out of the hampton roads area and your videos have helped alot. I finally got a trailer for my Hobie, Hopefully I see you out there one day. Thanks!
Glad I am able to help!
Great tutorial. Thank you.
Enjoyed both tuturials .I never caught a sheepshead , all blackfish near Avalon NJ ..Going to give it a go this summer .Like your release advice thank you my friend God Bless
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us !
My pleasure!
Thanks for the video the slip cork method works great on jetty’s I have found that the dropper loop leader works better for me with 1 oz bank weight on bottom I also use an unweighted slip cork so I can tell if I’m hitting the bottom the weighted ones for me stay upright when dragging bottom and most of the time you will get snagged on the rocks.
Great instructional video. Just bought my first fishing poles and sheep's head is going to be my number one target when I get the time
Good luck!
Nice tutorial! Thanks.
Great video Thanks for sharing your favorite rig! I will try it out.
No problem 👍
Great video can't wait for my Georgia trip
Good Luck
Great video! Dwn in Tx. Some of the funnest fish to catch. Especially if they 20 +
Stellar content, big thanks...
Excellent job with the how to, THANKS!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for sharing and am looking forward to catching some sheepshead, I have never caught any or had any to eat, I heard they are very good though. I love the king/whiting which are really good.
They are surprisingly good
Good info for others Jesse. My fav is a dropshot rig. You're right with lead on bottom.
Thanks
Love it great info keep the video coming
Thanks! Will do!
Nice job
Great information, thanks
Your welcome
Loved your video great information thank u
Thanks!
Good presentation, totally clear, from a guy who knows
I appreciate that!
Jesse I enjoy your video's they are very informative and you give me good pointers all the time, I would like to get with you at some point and go out fishing with you!
Working towards a charter/ guide service.
switching to a extra fast from a moderate/fast rod was a game changer for me. Hooking a lot more big sheep. I highly recommend extra fast rods for sheep. Nice job man, love your videos
You probably dont give a shit but if you are bored like me atm you can watch pretty much all of the new movies on instaflixxer. Have been watching with my brother for the last days =)
@Harry Adriel Definitely, I have been watching on InstaFlixxer for months myself :)
@Harry Adriel definitely, I've been watching on InstaFlixxer for since november myself :)
@Harry Adriel yup, I've been using instaflixxer for since december myself :D
Great info! Still trying to find some here in ENC.
Where at?
I’m in New Bern...Don’t have a boat, so I’m extremely limited. 😞
You have a voice for radio. 👍
Great tutorial Jesse! Do you have a link to share on your “crabitat?” I have an old fish tank and wonder if I could do the same at the house. Oceans East is always sold out of Fidlers unless you get there before dawn. Thanks!
Coming soon!
Got a video on how to rig up that slip float rig?
🔥
I would like to go out fishing with u for sheep head I never have good luck catching them.
Good stuff Jesse....I grew up fishing on lower Texas coast and used to give the Sheepshead I caught away to a friend who used to pressure cook them for his cats! I never thought of them as worthy of cleaning for a meal until he let me try the "catfood" one day. They are quite tasty. I love to make gumbo with the meat.
Question - what about the Berkley Gulp peeler crabs? They are kinda pricey but wondering if the SH like them?
I tried them briefly once, and my buddy was catching sheeps the whole time using fiddlers. I didn't get a bite. Switched to fiddlers on the same pilings and started catching first drop. I'm sure they may work if your persistent, but not as well as the real thing
I hooked one the other day at HRBT broke me off at the boat when I was getting the net good info
Dang that sucks!
I second the bottom sweeper not for use on the pilings. Found the sheepshead last year on a piling and lost 5 crabs on a bottom sweeper before getting fed up and switched to a dropper loop rig. Had one crab left and landed the next sheepshead that bit.
Yeah I have learned that this past year. Hard to beat hand tied rigs
I am just learning about salt water fishing...can you catch Sheepshead from the shore? I am getting a boat but I don't have one yet
Hey man, where do you do a lot of your tackle shopping? Great video by the way!
All over really, I usually stop at oceans east when fishing in va
Thanks for sharing Jesse. One question..... when do they show up?
In our area usually june
Shucked clams fishing incoming on sand bars is the bomb!
Never tried that method!
A commercial fisherman showed me that. The same day I caught a 24" sheepshead my buddy in a different boat won the el cheepo sheepshead tornament 20,000.00 bucks. I wasn't entered!
Jesse, I have two questions for you. The first is will frozen shrimp catch sheepshead, or do they need to be live? The second is that in one of your previous videos you said the store bought high low rigs were not as good as the hand-tied rigs. Why is that?
Not sure about frozen shrimp, worth a try. Try to get head on whole frozen shrimp. As far as store bought they just cant be customized like one you tie yourself. Like distance between loops, weight of the leader, etc...
Baby crawfish fish on a size 4 hook
I’d love to see how your crabitat, how many fiddlers can you keep at one time, and how long?
Doing a video soon
is the concrete ships producing any fish right now?
Yes all types
Hardest part about sheepshead fishing for me seems to be finding bait. I'm not gonna give up though
You get better at finding bait over time it's just like fishing look under rocks and oysters for mud crabs make sure when you go get crabs go at lowtide
@@natehowell793 I seem to be having a hard time finding places where I can gather them without trespassing. I know a few places where they are but it's private property or protected land
fiddler crabs man, I go to Beaufort SC and it is full of them in the spring time. I have never caught a sheepshead yet with fiddler crabs or shrimp. This lady right next to me was tearing it up but I could not catch a single one.
Fresh Oysters too
Shrimp are just fine for bait
Whats a good month for catching sheepshead in Florida?
Not sure but with the weather down there probably year round almost
Im driving up from NC with a PA 12 where do you suggest I drop in?
Kiptopeke is good now. Either that or beach launch from virginia beach at a public beach access
@@SouthernReelsFishing thank you
There was a new world record set at pirates landing im port Isabel, TX weighing in at 69 pounds 16 oz
small claws are good chum
Oysters in a piece of panty hose works great also. And last a long time
A time of year they are easier to catch?
In our area, June through September
In Florida it’s usually best SH fishing Jan-April
What size won the land mack tourney?
Only had one sign up and he had no fish entries...
Man that breaks my heart the mack attack has been hot at VB pier I almost signed up.
Yeah I was expecting a better turnout. But hey that's how it goes sometimes no worries
Can you catch sheepshead from a pier????
“How” ????
