    Great video. But....the easiest way to get them is go in the middle of the night at low tide. All that clear area behind the grassy area will look like snow flakes. The fiddlers groom themselves at night and are out of their holes. They do not run at night. Just walk and pick them up. Can get 100 in a matter of minutes. I feed mine corn meal and bottled spring water. I've had 200 since Sept. Plus I change the sand every few weeks. I keep them in my living room. No odor at all.

      That's great advice. I'll need to try that!

      You can just use bottled water for moisture? Do they need saltwater?

    • @SCFishTales
      @SCFishTales  5 месяцев назад +2

      @ArtemusXi I use saltwater because I live close to the ocean. Bottled water has certain chemicals in it that will kill the crabs.

    Awesome video, where would you recommend getting brackish water from?

    • @SCFishTales
      @SCFishTales  Год назад +1

      Any river would be good. Closer to the salt line would be ideal but not that critical. Just DO NOT use tap water or hose water.

    Are you allowed to pick them from that spot? I was out there and someone yelled as they were driving by that we weren’t supposed to be there. I can’t find any information that says you can’t.

    Very nice job explaining how to catch crabs! Only problem is holding them in your garage does it smell like low tide? Serious question not joking!

      Not one bad scent yet and I've had the colony in there for 6 weeks now. Once the weather warms up though, I will break it all down until next year.
