I could definitely get behind more appearances from Actors (both live-action and voice actors) from the series you guys cover, its a nice cherry on top!
Casper Van Dien is a bit of a special case I imagine. He's very passionate about Starship Troopers and is reportedly all too happy to reprise his role any chance he gets.
It's criminal how much Casper's acting skills and self-directing are SO much better than Starship Troopers. He's really grown in a huge way and I am proud of him for that.
Also Johnathan Ferguson, I challenge you!.... to play Warship Gunner II. I know your specialty isn't naval guns, but that game has basically every naval gun in existence. And then goes into batshit territory with every naval gun NOT in existence. Including the Breac, the Wave Motion Gun, and others. XD
Thank you for reminding me of an amazing game from my childhood I pray one day an indie developer takes up that game or similar game to it and we get something amazing@@TacComControl
Top one lads. I just wanna say- Long live Michael Ironside. Legend as a roughneck, as sam fisher and as a huge part of great scifi and film that inspires movies tv content and games to this day.
I also like to see Jonathan react to the guns of Binary Domain, which is a cyberpunk game taking place in 2080 in Japan, and the weapons that the main character squad, the Rust crew, are equipped with are basically futurized version of modern guns. And the robots that you fight also have their own standard issue guns, there's also the underground Resistance, who built their own guns. The game was developed by the same people behind the Yakuza games. I would also like to see Jonathan take a look at the guns of Vanquish, a 3rd Person Shooter from Platinum Games, the weapons ranged from futuristic assault rifles, shotguns, LMGs and pistols to energy weapons that actually use the main character's suit energy to fire, too bad Vanquish didn't sell well enough to warrant a sequel, which is a huge shame since the ending is quite abrupt. For an April's Fools special, it would be nice to see Jonathan react to the guns of Plant vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, eventhough only the zombie characters carry guns. And since I saw some folks requested guns from anime like Black Lagoon and Hellsing Ultimate, I thought I should try to chime in on that by suggesting a reaction on the armaments of Heavy Object, ranging from modern small arms like FAMAS rifles to futuristic assault rifles that come with smart bullets and a microphone to eavedrop on the enemies, also the artillery of the Objects themselves, which are highly advanced war machines that could survive nuclear strikes, and can traverse the battlefield at break neck speed, Baby Magnum, Milinda Brantini's Object for example, came with an assortment of coilguns and high caliber machine guns. I would also suggest the weapons in Gunslinger Girl for a more contemporary loadout.
Well this is somewhat ironic when starship troopers wasn't popular all the big assets got rented out throughout sci-fi projects but now it back apparently even the armor is hard to find
Thanks for a great video as always! As others have said before I would love for Jonathan Ferguson, the keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries museum in the UK, to look at the weapons of the Valkyria Chronicles series. It would be especially interesting to see him talk about the upgrades and sidegrades to the weapons in those games and how they do (and don't) relate to real world weapons.
I always thought those were cool, particularly as the ammo UI actually showed the helical arrangement of the rounds. Lots for Jonathan to analyse there, I would think.
The show is prominent enough to get Rico on board? That's cool. Tbh I feel like Morita would be a good topic to segway into OICW program and WHY both it and pulse rifle have underbarrel shotgun/grenade launcher. That is how in 1980's future firearms looked like.
I'm surprised that you guys didn't pick up on the Seburo inspiration of the "Baby Morita", it definitely evokes that anime look with the funny "ears" on the carry handle.
Cut for time it seems, unfortunate, maybe you could talk to GS about releasing uncut videos? Get more money that way perhaps? Sure there'd be some people willing to pay
@@mats7492 the idea comes from the book, wich was written by Robert Heinlein wich was a US navy veteran. He had a lot of social commentray ideas, some influenced by his career I guess. He even predicted the cold war in 1940.
The E-Pulse rifles were added in the second film entirely because of the budget of only $7 million. They couldn't afford blank-firing weapons or cgi muzzle-flashes so they stuck a blue strobe light in the end of a plastic prop and called it an energy weapon. As one of about 5 people who love the second film, finally being able to get my grubby mitts on one in an FPS is a dream come true.
@@null643Maybe in terms of cinematic execution. But every sequel has done a gd job expanding the 1997 movie lore. The E-pulse rifle, an idea born out of real life budgetary constraints, is still an excellent lore addition. Its ammo cuts thru bug armor like butter, but its effective range is very short as the ammo dissipates into the air as plasma does in real life. The Marauders introduced in ST3 is also faithful to the overall bulky aesthetics of the 1997 movie. They aren't agile mechs like what u'd see in anime. They are essentially bipedal tanks. Love it.
I am once again asking Jonathan Ferguson Keeper of Firearms and Artillery at the Royal Armouries museam in the UK, to take another look at the guns of Payday 2. there are some very cool ones you haven't looked at.
Starship Troopers was my first Childhood film with my Grandad when It came out, I’ll never forget the camera man getting bit in half and his body flew through the air absolutely loved the films RIP Grandad
Casper Van Dien is such a dude. His love for ST, the genre in general and the fandom is clear. It's always great to see. These are they type of people you hope you hire for your game or film. Luke Dale from kingdom come deliverance and Ned Luke from GTA5 are the same. They want to be involved. You just love to see it.
Fun fact: Morita Rifle was named after Sony's co-founder Akio Morita by the ST writer Edward Neumeier as a nod to Sony's involvment with Columbia that made the movie possible. One way to cement a name in history, I guess.
Please Jonathan Ferguson, the keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries museum in the UK, deconstruct & analyze the weapons of the Killzone Franchise
Question for Dave: With you managing to rope Casper Van Diem into this video, are there any other people you’d like to bring in to analyze/ present weapons in future videos?
Starship Troopers is that one franchise that is always gonna hang out in the background, only occasionally breaking into mainstream popularity, but will never die.
The Mini's game! I still run multiplayer games at conventions in Florida for this. Mongoose put it out, rules by Andy Chambers, minis by Bob Naismith. Absolutely superb game!
@0:48 "emm kay one". This is something I've been hearing more frequently lately online. People seem to be mistaking "Mk." or "MK" as two letters to be spoken, instead of it being an abbreviation of the word "Mark". Thankfully, Jonathan and Dave have always said it correctly.
Please Jonathan Ferguson, the keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries museum in the UK, deconstruct & analyze the weapons of *METAL GEAR SOLID 3* before the remake comes out. So many weapons in MGS3 to react and comment on like;- - The Patriot's infinite ammo and drum magazine resembling an (∞) symbol as well as the tumbling bullets. - The EZ tranq gun based off a Liberator pistol. - Snake's customized officer M1911A1 and him whittling the pistol grip to use a knife for CQC. - Ocelot's dual Single Action Army and his revolver juggling skills. - The End's custom paratrooper Mosin Nagant with tranquilizer rounds. - The Davey Crockett recoil-less nuclear launcher. - Eva's chinese Type 17 mauser clone with her "bandit shooting" technique. - Tatyana's single shot lipstick pistol. - Volgin using his electricity to ignite and fire off 7.62mm bullets from his hands. - The Boss's quick ability to disarm and disassemble Snake's pistols. These are a few examples and there are so many more other interesting trivias and weapons in MGS3 so please Dave and Jonathan, please consider making a video for MGS3..
I've heard that the reason the movie props didn't have a sighting solution is because they had plans to either CGI a targeting visor, or that the prop department was going to add them to the helmets (Don't recall which one) but the budget wouldn't allow it.
They have the guns from the 3 main movies, the CGI movies, the tabletop game's (do they have one?), but I am bothered by the fact that there are no signs of the weapons from the animated series Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Cronicles. But you can watch it on YT, or at least could, IDK if it is available yet, since the renewed interest for the IP. Every time an IP gets new attention it becomes harder to find it's old content.
So, that E-Pulse 88... I know it's based on a movie prop, but I would feel more comfortable with a shoulder-launched railgun myself. As for trajectories etc., a railgun (which is what this is) launches a projectile which _does_ have a ballistic arc... but you'd only notice that over such long distances that for all practical purposes it has a perfectly straight trajectory over any distance. And no, the projectile shouldn't just disappear after a certain distance, but I guess that has to do with rendering distances in the game or something.
This is dedicated for the Starship troopers And also I would see Jonathan Ferguson on reacting the weapons of Earth Defense Force series to make a similarities and differences of the weapons

It would be really cool for you guys to react to the Timeless and Classics Zero mod for Minecraft as it features some really well done firearms in a game where they normally seem really out of place. With the additional user made addon packs for this mod I have up to 150+ guns ranging from a Brown Bess musket, M1 Garand, TTI AR-15, Bushmaster ACR, Johnny's Malorian from Cyberpunk and even a Bolter from Darktide. The mod features insane levels of customization for a Minecraft mod, and you can even make some "cursed guns" for Johnathan to suffer from haha. This suggestion might be a little out there, but considering you guys did a video on Fallout London, I'm hoping it could maybe be a possibility. Also, great video I love the addition of Casper Van Dien!
Wow Casper Van Dien and Jonathan in one Video. Gamespot you are awesome! Now I have the urge to rewatch Starship Troopers. Do you guys play the old Starship Troopers game? I remember I had a full version as free game in an Videogame Magazine back in the day and played the Campaign three times in a row.
The talking point about the L1A1 being 'converted' tonfire Full Auto by unit armourers isn't limited to just that. Im sure Jonathan likely already knows, but sinply used a recent example closer to his nationality, but there's lots of examples of this kind of thing happening. Another one i know of is a modification that armourers would make to M1 Garands that allowed it to fire fully auto. Probably to no-one's suprise, it was quite unuseful. The full auto L1A1s similarly so as British doctrine trained around semi auto individual rifles. Although im sure some Commandos felt better about clearing the entrenchments in CQB.
This was fun, and kudos on the guest appearance, that was a nice bonus. If we're doing anti-alien weaponry, how about looking at some of the guns from the X-COM series? That could be interesting.
regarding the E-Pulse 44 A2, I think those are batteries. If you got an energy weapon, you're gonnna need a rechargeable pack and that itself is also an issue. If your gun runs out of power in the middle of a fight you can't just yell "Time out" and expect the enemy to let you get a recharge.
I hope to see Jonathan Ferguson, Keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries in the UK Areact to the guns of Generation Zero, i'd love to see him analyze and break them down. Also the robots And maybe the resistance trilogy.
Would love to see an update video for Squad. Since the last video the PLA, Turkish Land Forces, Russian VDV, and update to the Irregular Militia faction. The latest update even added an MP5 along with a bunch of new guns with the new PMC faction. Some small arms that have been added since the last video of note would be: M27 IAR - US Marines Automatic Rifleman kit QBZ95-1 - PLA Rifleman kit AK-12 - VDV Rifleman kit AS-VAL - VDV Scout kit MPT 76 -TLF Rifleman kit MKE MGL - TLF Grenadier kit SOR-109T - TLF Jandarma kit MG3 - TLF Machine Gun kit FN FAL with HE and AT rifle grenades- IMF Ambusher kit Vz 61 Skorpion - IMF crewman kit HK MP5 - PMC Raider kit M14 - PMC Rifleman kit AK 101 - PMC Rifleman kit M16 w/ Magpul furniture - PMC rifleman kit M4 w/ Daniel Defense furniture - PMC rifleman kits M320 GLM - PMC Grenadier kit M134 Minigun - PMC mounted on a light technical
I don't know if others brought it up, but another real world case of rifles being converted to automatic, is people using a paperclip to make some of the early ar15/armalite rifles into being automatic.
id really like to see this production breakaway from gamespot and be independent. JF is a good personality and should have his own channel where he can focus more on exactly the content he'd like to make.
I know it might not get the clicks. But I would love to see older games that get the mechanics or portrayal of guns wayyy off. I always loved the proportions of the guns in Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Because they are just sooo derpy. Lol
I believe Jonathan would have a blast reviewing the arsenal from Ballistic Weapons, the mod for Unreal Tournament 2004. And the weapons from the base game as well.
I get what he is saying about the Smaller Compact Tank on the Flame Thrower. Though if you were to Compress the Liquid into a Gassy State, and have the Internal Parts in the in the Flame Thrower allowing it to easy revert back to Liquid State before reaching end of Nozzle. You could have a Workable System, that utilizes a Smaller Tank.
I'd love to see Jonathan react to some weapons from Warframe! Maybe some classics like the Braton, Zarr, Soma, Grakata, Rubico, Lenz, and Opticor. And some weird ones like Bubonico, Nukor, Exergis, Acceltra, Panthera, Azima, Kulstar, Proboscis Cernos, and Catabolyst.

Probably to no-one's suprise, it was quite unuseful. The full auto L1A1s similarly so as British doctrine trained around semi auto individual rifles. Although im sure some Commandos felt better about clearing the entrenchments in CQB.
The Barrett in Space is also probably originally an homage to the Cobra Assault Rifle in Robocop, since Verhoeven did both movies.
The SST mod for the game Squad actually features a Morita rifle with its under barreled shotgun and will confirm it came in very handy at times
Forget helldivers 2
The weapons of starship troopers are brilliant!
If your gun runs out of power in the middle of a fight you can't just yell "Time out" and expect the enemy to let you get a recharge.
i would love to see a video on the weapons of Squad 44
The "inevitable shotgun in space." Comment made me laugh.
Johnny’s Rico and Ferguson make me want this game so bad!
7:07 also what they were trying to design is a heckler and goch g11
I hope to see Jonathan Ferguson, Keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries in the UK Areact to the guns of Generation Zero, i'd love to see him analyze and break them down.
Also the robots
And maybe the resistance trilogy.
Would love to see an update video for Squad. Since the last video the PLA, Turkish Land Forces, Russian VDV, and update to the Irregular Militia faction. The latest update even added an MP5 along with a bunch of new guns with the new PMC faction.
Some small arms that have been added since the last video of note would be:
M27 IAR - US Marines Automatic Rifleman kit
QBZ95-1 - PLA Rifleman kit
AK-12 - VDV Rifleman kit
AS-VAL - VDV Scout kit
MPT 76 -TLF Rifleman kit
MKE MGL - TLF Grenadier kit
SOR-109T - TLF Jandarma kit
MG3 - TLF Machine Gun kit
FN FAL with HE and AT rifle grenades- IMF Ambusher kit
Vz 61 Skorpion - IMF crewman kit

Nice. Would really love to see Jonathan tackle the weapons of Blood and Blood 2 The Chosen.
Good video, as always. Any plans on reviewing the weapons of Enlisted in the future?
I don't know if others brought it up, but another real world case of rifles being converted to automatic, is people using a paperclip to make some of the early ar15/armalite rifles into being automatic.
id really like to see this production breakaway from gamespot and be independent. JF is a good personality and should have his own channel where he can focus more on exactly the content he'd like to make.
Hey Casper Van Dien. had a ton of fun working with you and larry on camp miracle
I hope Expert Reacts gets its own channel
how does Casper Van Dien look younger and more attractive at 55?????? he must be a cyborg
Why is the barrel long on the Royal armories version long? Is it a long barrel extension or is it a choke of some kind?
I would love to see Jonathan react to the weapons of the Ratchet and Clank franchise.
DAM bugs THERE IN THE COMPUTER *chucks grenade* 9:48
This was a great episode! Hey Jonathan could you review guns from the Unreal Tournament/championship series?
I would love to see Jonathan review the guns of Crime Boss Rockay City
Rust has added some new guns and even a skin that changes the look of an M-39 completely. Would be cool to see that on the channel again
Was Jonathan under the impression Casper would also be in the livestream? It looks like he was waiting for a response.
