    To give a bit of added context as to why that AK that Dave was talking about is worth over $400,000- in addition to the insanely rare solid blue (aka "blue gem") pattern, the stickers themselves are insanely rare for multiple reasons-
    1) They're from very old "sticker capsules" that are not often sold on the marketplace anymore
    2) They have a unique "holo" pattern that is often far more desired than their standard equivalents
    3) They represent teams or e-sports organizations that don't exist anymore (one was a team called iBUYPOWER that was shut down for match fixing, the other is a now-defunct team called Titan). Both of these teams/orgs were also well-known for their legendary rosters and players.

    I think the MagShear was based off of a concept called Metal Storm that theorized a box of tubes, each loaded with multiple projectiles that would be fired via electromagnetic pulse within each barrel. They could be fired in waves, or simultaneously. I remember seeing this on an episode of Future Weapons back almost 30 years ago.

    • @RedGreenBrown
      @RedGreenBrown 2 месяца назад +4

      Yes, the Metal Storm. I was very disappointed it wasn't mentioned in the video because it was a relatively well known prototype from the turn of the millennia that fired dozens of stacked but otherwise conventional ballistic rounds via electric charges to the primers and was advertised as having no moving parts. I remember first finding out about it on a Modern Weapons feature on the History channel about 15-20 years ago.

    Look at the guns in Enlisted. There’s a lot of guns there that aren’t in other WW2 shooters, like the Armaguerra & Volksgewehr. There’s also a lot of rare prototype weapons, like the Pavesi & AS-44.

    • @SaltSpirits
      @SaltSpirits 5 месяцев назад +2

      the volkssturmgewehr has become relatively common in video games in recent years, notably battlefield 5 (which includes both the MP507 and MP508 models) and both of the last two ww2 call of duty titles have included it, but also fallout 4 and 76 in the form of the radium rifle if you wanna count that since it’s heavily based on it.

    Funniest thing about Jonathan…’s take on the 40K meltagun is that there’s probably a pattern of meltagun that operates via the principles he outlined. Folks tend to forget it, but there’s a lot of abstraction from the lore to the tabletop rules. Weaponry that has the same effect on the tabletop can have wildly different mechanisms in the lore, all of which are boiled down into a statline for your miniatures.

    Hey guys, I don’t know if anyone though of this and it is a far more modern system than they have at the royal armories, but I think that the Magshear from Starfield is actually based on the metal storm weapon system. Based on what I have seen in the game the Magshear has hundreds of rounds of ammo in each “magazine”, but at most has a couple dozen barrels. Additionally it doesn’t seem to have any moving bolt system, so it is far more like the Metal Storm System with its stacked electronically fired rounds. However it is also similar to the volley guns and super imposed black powder pistols of the 17 and 18 hundreds. Ian of Forgotten Weapons has some good videos on them for reference.

    If you use the KRISS Vector in any manner other than 2-round-burst, it is absurd. However, the high rate of fire, the.45ACP chambering, and the recoil redirection mechanism -- when combined -- are a shining example of a total being greater than the sum of its parts. Also, I adore Jonathan AND Gamespot, so thank you for these. I always get excited when I see a new one in my feed. 😁 Take care, and I wish you all the best in the New Year!

    What a great year of content! Discovering this series as been one of the highlights of 2023 for me, especially during a year with a number of personal challenges and tough spots. Tuning in to watch a new episode each Saturday, and repeatedly binging older episodes, filled many a free moment.
    I am at university training to be an art historian with a focus on crusader-period arms and armor. This series has expanded my interests in armor and weaponry to include firearms, and it has been a real treat to watch another scholar with the same passion for not only this topic, but also for video games and the nuances of depicting the material culture of warfare in digital environments. Jonathan, Dave, and all the community members in the comments continue to be an inspiration for me as I continue my studies.
    I hope to see an episode or two in 2024 covering the guns of the Assassins' Creed franchise! That franchise, especially the Ezio trilogy, is one of the biggest influences for me getting into art history, especially with its consistent recreations of the historical environments, so it would be awesome to see what Jonathan thinks about things like the hidden gun, the cannons and artillery, the flintlocks, the 18th century weapons in Syndicate, etc.
    Happy holidays, everyone!

    I had a "crush" on the Red9/C96 for a long while until I actually got to fire one four months ago. It wasn't cycling properly for some reason, as the hammer had to be manually slammed back between shots. But it could due to the fact that it was probably loaded with standard 9x19mm (which likely had insufficient cycling pressure for the gun) instead of its proprietary 9x25mm ammo.

      The 25mm case length is for the original 7.63x25mm cartridge. The Red 9 is designed to run on period 9x19mm loads so if anything modern 9mm would be the problem (although I haven't heard of any issues).

      Anyone from thousands of dollars for a transferable 'machine gun' in the US to a couple of chickens in South-East Asia (allegedly). Very supply/demand based and obviously condition, country of origin etc. The average is probably a few hundred USD.

    Ive seen another video saying Starfield's MagShear and MagStorm are based on the real world Metal Storm which is electronic multi barrel weapon. I think it holds the record for most bullets fired per second. "The only moving parts are the bullets".
    Personally I think its based on a mix of both. the older one Johnathan showed has a more similar loading style than the Metal Storm which is tube loaded or they swap out the barrels or something like that

    I'd really love to hear about the highest value sold AK case hardened about the legitimacy. Like I've seen insane spikes for single transaction on some skin market record and I'm pretty certain it's due to other deals and not actually for the specific skin. Almost like laundering money.
    Maybe he should review Quake 1 & 2 guns if he hasn't. And I would love to see him review Perfect Dark's guns, the spiritual sequel to the classic Goldeneye. Has a couple of quite fascinating scifi guns, but also many real guns that got some nice attention, and not the most obvious choices. Its MagSec4 pistol is quite a bit similar to the Robocop gun.
    The M1000 classic makes me think of M39 EMR.

    On the note of the Melta Gun, there is a type of explosive I saw on Futuristic Weapons or whatever that American show was called, I believe it used a cone of metal with thermite and an explosive charge, with the cone pointed inwards.
    The charge and thermite essentially inverts the cone outwards creating a cone of molten metal that can punch through solid metal.
    Edit: it is called the Krakatoa.

    Regarding the multi barreled gun from Starfield: There is another real life example of this concept. A 36 barreled gun by a company called "Metal Storm", which according to wikipedia managed to reach 1 million shots per second. It does not sustain fire though, they "only" shot 180 bullets with that speed. There are videos about it on YT aswell. It works with caseless ammo and each barrel is loaded with multiple projectiles, which are being fired electronically. "Funny" enough: the company went bankrupt in 2012, but the australian company DefendTex bought the intellectual property of Metal Storm and DefendTex is today known for making weaponized quadcopter drones. Drones that can shoot and also "kamikaze drones", which have been used in/by ukraine in the current conflict.
