This scene is so incredibly crafted. It has a tone of beauty, love, darkness, manipulation, purity, connection, and danger all in one. Not a word spoken, just eye contact of the actors and how they are blocked, and the beautiful choreography and music. Bravo Jim Henson!
I just really love how, considering many of the goblins were originally people, Henson kind of hints at the real appearances these people WOULD have had as humans. Plus, I'm curious if this is how many of the goblins perceive the world all the time. It might explain their almost stoner-like behavior at times if they pretty much were as intoxicated as she in this moment...
The Ballroom is my favorite part of the movie. It's dark, decadent, and yet so magical. Jareth is trying to seduce Sarah but it's Sarah that has him enchanted. It's beautiful.
Yup they were showing the Occult also she was under 18 in this so it's borderline Pedophilia. But back then things were seen from a much more innocent perspective and yes it was my favorite part.
I agree! I remember thinking that, when this film first debuted in 1986. That it seemed like, against his own dark nature, Jareth was being charmed by Sarah. Its a shame his evil side won out.
There is actually a labyrinth comic i have been wanting yo read (i only have the second half) and one pf the covers has this scene i fell in love all over again
Actually he didn’t turn down the role, they didn’t even ask him the crew named popular artist at the time and as soon as they said David Bowie’s name the director said he would be a perfect candidate for the role.
No one has commented on how beautiful Jennifer's hair looks with the silver lace and jewelry woven through it? The costumes in this scene absolutely blow me away every time I see it.
Oh definitely! Did you notice how Jareth is the only one wearing blue, and a brilliant sequins-y blue at that? Makes him stand out from the crowd immediately. Meanwhile Sarah is in white and silver, which (while beautiful) makes her sort of blend into the crowd. Like Jareth is using color to try to make her think she belongs there.
NOW THAT I'M REWATCHING THIS MOVIE, I can only picture how respectful David was towards women. Jennifer was only 14 or 15 while filming this and during the dance scene, you can see that Bowie is keeping his distance from his chest and watching where he touches to make sure that Jennifer was comfortable! What a gentleman! May he rest in peace!
Sup in these days i really spent a certain amount of time to make a tribute about jennifer connelly, i tried to match song and cutscene in the best way i could. Fan Theory: What if all the other guests at the masquerade ball are the previous human forms of the goblins that live in the labrynth? It would make sense because Jareth is almost always around the goblin horde and all the masks they are wearing are very goblinlike. What do you think?
I've heard a similar theory like this. Another one said that there were many Sarahs that came before who got lost in the Labrynth. That's why when Sarah talked to Hoggle for the first time, he wasn't surprised when she mentioned her name.
I think some of the previous Sarah's were turned into those trash ladies too. Sarah almost became one of them when the lady started piling her toys onto her, and I assume they couldn't remember what they were looking for just like Sarah couldn't after this scene.
"Anemoia- a nostaglia for a time you've never known" This gives me such strong feelings of anemoia. Deep deep sorrow, desire, love, longing and sadness I cant possibly comprehend.
Me too. I just discovered this movie last week and I just keep rewatching some scenes over and over to feel anemoia I guess. Glad there's a word for it
Ugh…the very look he gives her just before he approached her to dance and as he’s walking towards her melts me every single time…🥴 it screams, “mine”.❤
What a simple-minded, juvenile, tone deaf reductionistic piece of tripe criticism. "There is NO HOPE for the excessively literal minded," none, no aesthetic evolution of taste is possible. You can stick with the likes of Fast and Furious films, Giant Tractor Pulls, and goofball Super-Hero bilge, that's about your speed evidently, and realize, no one will takes your whining, emotionally deadened nonsense seriously as a reason not to enjoy this film, this scene, nothing, capiche? Case closed, no appeals!@@_RobBanks

Jennifer Connelly is so stunning in this movie. This movie was an instant classic. I hope they NEVER remake the movie, they just going to ruin a master piece.
Played this at my wedding last year. It was my our father daughter dance. As Labyrinth was our film when I was a child. Week before the wedding my dad was told go home and enjoy your time left with your family. This song was so fitting for us. Will always be our song. My dear dad died 6 weeks later xxxx
+Lauren Carroll If you imagine it, the idea becomes kind of hearthwarmingly funny. "Sir, there is a huge group of ladies, all asking you for a last dance." He certainly would be busy for a long time.
@@SpecialOrder935 so he was 🌈... I knew it, I can spot them a mile away. Nvr heard of him before until I seen this clip. Nice song dough, and no it doesn't matter
@@SpecialOrder935 I honestly nvr heard of him. So he wasn't? Hmm... I would of bet he was just by that look he gave in that scene you pointed out. Either way it doesn't matter I was just curious cause according to the comments he was a very famous person.
Watching this scene makes my heart ache. It has always made me long for something that never existed. It also makes me sad, knowing that our Goblin King is no longer with us...
"It made me long for something that never existed". You literally read my mind; I watched Labyrinth when I was 8 years old and all through my life I have expected from my relationships something that was unreal, therefore unreachable. It hurts and always will.
I would have stayed. I would have married Jareth, lived in the castle beyond the Goblin City, and raised Toby together. With Ludo, Sir Didymus and Ambrosius and Hoggle as my best friends, I would have been the queen of the Labyrinth. Damn it, Sarah. You traded all that for your clueless, detached father and bitchy stepmother.
This part always gives me chills, she looks beautiful and David looks hypnotizing, the song, the ballroom and the outfits are amazing, such a beautiful movie
Nope! I first really saw David Bowie in "Labyrinth".....& I was lost. Hopelessly, wonderfully, dreamily lost in love! :) I have been a huge fan of his ever since & always will. Then I discovered his other works, his music & films. I miss him still. The world is not the same without him.
It's the exact sound and notes in the Bass Guitar pattern. A different type of instrument wouldn't sound as sweet, a different pattern of notes would sound as juicy.
It haunts the soul because it's perfect and beautiful you want it to happen but you know deep down it is impossible and doomed still its what you would want for yourself something pure and beautiful a little naughty but as I said sometimes only sometimes it comes true.
To get David Bowie to do all the songs in this movie was pure genius. She is gorgeous and so grown up...he is beautiful in makeup and it's dreamlike till the chair shatters the illusion xxx Still watch this movie. One of my favourites! RIP David Bowie
I never loved a fictional man before until I saw this. That was a long time ago, and the magic and memories have deepened for me. This is a love story of beauty, longing, unrequieted love. We can all relate. Thank you to Jim Henson (another Starman) for his vision, and thank you to David Bowie for his creation of the goblin king. This film will always be part of my world. He will always be in my heart. Love you forever, David Bowie.
Thank you for this post! Made me cry a bit. Feel all the same in every way. This movie was my child hood but a lasting piece forever at the same time. How I have watched something all these years but still has the ability to take me back is pretty magical.
I completely agree with you my friend. 80s and 90s in regard to music and movies have no comparison with nowadays "artistical expresions"....those were times of magic and perfection, good taste and excellent performances of real artist...now, unfortunately we have poor ideas, bad acting and most of the time bad taste. The taste changes throughout the time and new generations prefer justin biebers to Guns n Roses, Bad "fucking" Bonnies to Queen...or Bon Jovi etc...fast and furious to masterpieces like Braveheart or Gladiator or this delicious movie we got here. Even series are not what they used to be (Alf, the Simpsons, The A team, The Nanny, Different Strikes and so on). Now we got maluma tormenting our ears with bad voice and poor-disgusting ideas...as if were a "Poe" nightmare tale (I guess not even Poe could have invented such a striking torture)...well I got depressed I'll see the clip again. 😒
who's closed their eyes and listened to this and imagined being her? i think bowies voice was the best in this type of genre, he was amazing at this type of music
You’ve caught something really important. Another commenter mentioned how this scene and the movie are about going from childhood to adulthood, with all its uncertainty and responsibility. It can be such a self-conscious age.
Yup. We all want a grand finale of somebody completely destroying the place to get back to her friends so that she can get her childnapped brother and defeat you. :)
There are a lot of parallels with Phantom of the Opera in this masterpiece. The older man in love with the younger girl, the mask, the masquerade ball, the seduction through music. Such a lovely movie.
@@zimriel Thank you! People are completely misinterpreting Jareth just cus they got a crush on him 🤦🏽♀️ He has her there against her will and won't give her brother back, something she desperately wants. The sus age gap aside, this would be a very toxic relationship. All these comments tell me is that these people would be turned into Goblins real quick 😂😂

I had a crush on both of them 😭 I was so obsessed with this movie I watched it almost everyday. It gives me so much comfort. It is hard to explain, but this movie feels like home. I love it. I sadly can't watch it at the moment :(
I first saw this in 1992 on VHS at the age of seven. A classmate brought this to our classroom. When I saw this scene, I fell in love with Jennifer Connelly. Even today, she still looks amazing.
I tried to play this movie for my first grade class, but apparently since it was rated PG, I wasn’t allowed to. We were only allowed to show G rated Movies in first grade. I was so angry because I just recently watched this movie and it was awesome. This is circa 2000 still a great classic.
I hope there's no remake or sequel. Nothing will ever be as amazingly cast as this. Such a beautiful crafted film from start to finish, that will never be captured by today's cinematography. Anything else would just ruin it. Plus, there is absolutely nobody on this planet that could ever replace David Bowie. Ever.
There technically is a sequel on comic form that's kinda crappy. On the plus side, there's also an excellent prequel comic that gives us an origin story for Jareth and how he became the Goblin King.
💯 so so true! No one could ever replace bowie or the songs he did for this movie it is just perfect as it is when I watch this movie it's like a time machine to my childhood love love LOVE THIS MOVIE! 🤗 ❤❤❤❤❤
+louise collins I'm ashamed to say this, but I never truly appreciated his music until I saw this film. I grew up listening to classic rock because that's what my parents would always play. They didn't listen to David so I never really did until just now. I'm just discovering all of his wonderful music. I had heard Changes and Life On Mars? before and now I adore him. I die a little inside when I watch this movie and when I hear his music. I'm so sad that he's gone. It isn't fair that we had to lose him, of all people. The same goes for Prince. Of all of the people that could have died, we lost them. They'll never truly be gone, though. They will live on.
So sad we will never get movies like this again so glad I grew up with this! It transported me into a whole nother world and just made me more creative and imaginative
When i was a kid in the late 80's early 90's i used to watch this movie every single day. Every word and lyric is forever imprinted into my brain lol. I loved all the songs but this one gave my little self the feels. I was a sensitive lad XD

I was a frigid ice queen child, not at all concerned with the emotion of this whole scene but just now rewatching it as a, i would say "medium-level adult" I want to curl up fetal position & bawl my soul out for Jareth losing Sarah & maybe I might write some alternative ending fan fiction to fix my feels.... This has always been one of my favorite movies, but the truth is a lot of it is incredibly slow and boring. Only a handful of scenes are memorable. A remake could be amazing.
And Sarah was looking especially delicious during this scene (of course this is coming from a 52 year old man who was only 25 or 26 when he saw this movie for the first time)
I have watched this movie since its release in 1986. Mind you I was 4 years old. I would pray every night to God to make me an adult so I could marry David Bowie. Silly, I know. But this movie made me closer to my stepdad who is a huge Bowie fan, and it also brought me closer to my grandpa, who passed away in 2012. My dad and I bonded over Bowies music, and grandpa and I bonded over this movie. My daughter loved this movie as a child, and now I get to pass it on to my step grandkids who absolutely love this movie. Words can not express how much this movie and the soundtrack truly means to me. R.I.P. both David and Jim. You may be gone from this earth, but the magic you had is very much with us all today. ❤❤
I saw this at the cinema when it was first released, I was 12 years old.. I fell in love with The Goblin King and played this scene over and over, wishing I was Sarah and he looked at me like that...I'm 46 now and I still fall in love with him every time xx
I agree!! I'm 47 now & fell in love with David when this film came out......& ever since. I still do. That grin was almost everything charming you could imagine! I became a huge fan of his music & several others of his films. I miss him so much, the world isn't the same without him. 😢😢😢
@@juliapigworthy Interestingly, age had nothing to do with it & no one even commented on that when it debuted. Because it was looked at for what it was, as you said: fantasy material. And nothing sexual happened, not even a kiss, so no one would have blinked an eye in the '80s. It was thought of like Beauty & the Beast, or Cinderella-like. GOD How I miss the 1980s. :D

+debra wolf, I agree. but I am a male not a female and if I kissed him, I'd be a lesbians. only a female can kiss a boy or male but children... wrong answer.
I wouldn't call it "heartbreak" -- more like the illusory Jareth in this scene was bummed out that his scheme didn't go according to plan, and Sarah broke free of the dream bubble. (Remember that Jareth was manipulative throughout this entire scene, and had evil intentions of trapping Sarah here.)
@@vanizorc I think it's more grey than that; love what you wrote above and that is absolutely true, but I think it's also true, and part of the charm of this movie, is that he really does feel he has a connection with her, and feelings for her, in addition to scheming her. It's always been both, to me. It's a really touching scene.
@@Guitarsoul24734 Many people will have different interpretations of this film, and that's absolutely fine. Many will argue that Jareth's "confession" at the end of the film is proof that the "real Jareth" had feelings for Sarah all along, and this would be a logical interpretation. (Though I personally don't fully agree, since we can't know for sure if that was his last-ditch attempt to instigate another trap. Also, if he did like her, why would he set the cleaners on her, or act so nonchalant when one of his goblins asked about the drugged Sarah? Jareth's motives and actions are vague enough that there's probably no single "correct" explanation for the character, and Henson is long gone so we can't ask him...)
The way Jareth sings the song to Sarah just makes my heart cry, this is the best scene in the movie for sure- The way Jareth looks at her when she’s running away, his heart broke right there but he knew deep down she would make it, and she gave everything she ever wished for, including Jareth. The eye contact, gosh you could feel everything by just observing.❤️😩
As a boy when i watched this i didn't notice anything about her, but now, my god she has to be one of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen. That look she gives...wow.
By far this is one of those movies that will forever have an imprint in your heart & mind especially if you had watched it as a young child...My daughter had the exact same reaction I did after watching it & started crying cause she didn't want (Jareth David bowie to go away)
I've never heard her say anything about that, but I hope she did, regardless. Edit: I've heard her say in interviews that she knew about him and was familiar with some of his songs prior to filming, but didn't really know much about him. She says she ended up liking him and that he was really nice to her, but I don't think she knew enough about him at the start to really develop a crush on him.
I can't even begin to tell you guys how much goosebumps and tingles this song still gives me. I always come back and listen to it when I write and I genuinely feel the beating of my heart whenever it plays. Rest in peace our Goblin King.

Hell yeah. You have my have my respect if you know and recognize the masterpiece that was and is this song. The movie and the soundtrack were way ahead of their time and Bowie pulled off one of the coldest villains imo. This movie and NeverEnding Story are definitely amazing. If you haven't you should look up the making of reverence and see how much work they actually put into all of those goblins and very short creatures. So much makeup wardrobe and work and time went into this. Did the vagabonde.. the old lady in the gigantic landfill / junkyard also scare the living shit out of you as a child? She was like no help at all. One of my favorite parts of the movie where those tiny creatures that would come and take the stone or whatever she had written the arrows on and turn it around to get you lost even more.
This is my favorite movie, and this is the song I listen to when I’m in quarantine, it always makes me forget things on my mind, this song is like a drug.
if I was sarah fuck I would have stayed in the labyrinth and kissed him unconditionally yes for sure I would of married him too and be his beauty queen goblin.

This movie is what made me a life-long fan of David Bowie, and I danced to this song at my wedding. To me the ballroom scene wasn't just a dream sequence but a metaphor for the choice that Sarah had to make: stay in her dream world or find her baby brother and grow up. The novelization of the movie explains that the goblins are children that Jareth has previously stolen and twisted into this bizarre form of immortality. I believe he might genuinely have been in love with her, since another passage in the novel shows him thinking, "too old to turn into a goblin but too young to be kept by him, damn her innocent eyes."
Indeed there is. Written by A.C.H. Smith with contributions from Terry Jones and Jim Henson it was published in 1985 as a mass market paperback. It was re-released last year and you can find it on Amazon.
This was when I had my first crush..I was 7 years old and this scene up above was when i fell in love with him. He just had this aura that was so compelling to me. For some reason I remember making up a story telling my Mom and Dad that my brother's girlfriend Jessica had this huge crush on Jareth and as I was telling them this I said things like "that is so gross right!?". When in reality it was me who had this HUGE crush on him..I just wanted to see what they would say about it..I remember being so incredibly embarrassed to tell my parents I loved him because it was the first time I really admired someone and had these feelings I never felt...even if it was a celebrity! Little did I know they knew all about my crush from the beginning. I guess they caught me pretending to be Sarah dancing with Jareth trying to recreate this scene. Shortly after, my Father introduced me to his music apart from The Labyrinth's soundtrack and the first song I listened to was "Space Oddity" and from then on I fell in love with David Bowie. Him as this crazily talented, genuine person.. You will always be a Shining Star beautiful Bowie. I love you.
+Helen Skyee Oh my god I feel you, girl. I've been having a lot of trouble not getting emotional when I think of him and your comment just made me lose it.
Paul LaPierre yeah it will be my wedding song :) ***** Same..I can't even listen to Blackstar without balling my eyes out. He was something special. I'm happy to even have been alive when he was still making music. He will live on forever.
I consider David Bowie aka goblin king the first guy I ever had a crush on. I was a really little when I frist saw this movie. From that day on I had such a respect for him. It's very rare that I become emotional over a death of someone that I didn't even know. This time is different. Rest In Peace my first make believe boyfriend. I was probably about 5 years old.
I feel the same! Even though you don't know them personally... They meant so much and it's so emotional :s you totally summed up how I feel completely! David Bowie won't RIP though... Wherever he is he'll still be the same quirky innovative person he always was! ❤️
Its 2019 and this scene is always my favourite!! Her make up and gown is so so beautiful and he looks so gothicly handsome. I would like to think they are silently crushing on each other because the chemistry is so there.

I showed this movie to my kids and I thought they kind of just tolerated it and barely got through it. Then about 6 months later they bring it home on DVD. So we own it. And I said I thought you thought that movie was kind of corny. And my kids are like no we liked it. Let's hear it for Labyrinth in 2018.

That would’ve been so bleak Considering the fact the film is an allegory for being groomed and date raped….
He could have pulled the look but mj has to high of a voice for the role, Bowie was perfect
No one has commented on how beautiful Jennifer's hair looks with the silver lace and jewelry woven through it? The costumes in this scene absolutely blow me away every time I see it.

I love the look of Jennifer in this video. It's so elegant and beautiful😍
She is just beautiful then and now.

Just so much happy escapism.
Totally agree with you. All the costumes are one of Labyrinth best things. This part of the movie is one of my favorites.
David was always fabulous.
Alexis Arrington idk he looks kinda like a vulkin
Louisa Crettenden Nah, I'd say more Fae-like than Vulcan. Vulcans don't exactly do bright eye shadow. xD
And that nose contour!
This scene just makes me feel a strange sadness. Like the last time seeing someone you care for, but can't help. Love this movie.
Omg such a good theory!!!!
I think some of the previous Sarah's were turned into those trash ladies too. Sarah almost became one of them when the lady started piling her toys onto her, and I assume they couldn't remember what they were looking for just like Sarah couldn't after this scene.
I like it!
Stop because I just told my sister a theory of my that was pretty much spot on to yours-

Totally the best scene in the whole movie. And Labyrinth has so many great scenes. Its magical, creepy and mystical while deeply romantic.
yes its so romantic. having a 15 year old girl being led astray because shes trying to rescue her baby brother from a demon.
oh joy.
This girl herself asked the goblins to take her brother away! And the little boy had a good time with the goblins.
and he's not a demon
What a simple-minded, juvenile, tone deaf reductionistic piece of tripe criticism. "There is NO HOPE for the excessively literal minded," none, no aesthetic evolution of taste is possible. You can stick with the likes of Fast and Furious films, Giant Tractor Pulls, and goofball Super-Hero bilge, that's about your speed evidently, and realize, no one will takes your whining, emotionally deadened nonsense seriously as a reason not to enjoy this film, this scene, nothing, capiche? there is something about this song that is haunting. i can't really put my finger on it. this is still one of my favorite movie.
It's the exact sound and notes in the Bass Guitar pattern. A different type of instrument wouldn't sound as sweet, a different pattern of notes would sound as juicy.

I'll tell you something - the 80's were an amazing time to watch films at the cinema. labyrinth had alot of music videos within it
I completely agree with you my friend. 😒

Of course he is, he is David Bowie.
Mina I'm a child (well, teen), and I'm in love with him. And I have a feeling that I will be as an adult, too!
when she pulls away from him and runs off breaks my heart because the look on his face is just pure heartbreak
Montez Holcomb jareth was a dick literally and figuratively.
@@vanizorc Remember, though that part of the story was that "He had fallen in love with the girl", so it could be heartbreak, if even momentarily.
The way Jareth sings the song to Sarah just makes my heart cry, this is the best scene in the movie for sure-
The way Jareth looks at her when she’s running away, his heart broke right there but he knew deep down she would make it, and she gave everything she ever wished for, including Jareth.
The eye contact, gosh you could feel everything by just observing.❤️😩

By far this is one of those movies that will forever have an imprint in your heart & mind especially if you had watched it as a young child...My daughter had the exact same reaction I did after watching it & started crying cause she didn't want (Jareth David bowie to go away)
No way Jennifer didn't have a crush on him while filming this 😂 age gap or not bowie was hot as hell during this
I've never heard her say anything about that, but I hope she did, regardless.
Edit: I've heard her say in interviews that she knew about him and was familiar with some of his songs prior to filming, but didn't really know much about him. She says she ended up liking him and that he was really nice to her, but I don't think she knew enough about him at the start to really develop a crush on him.

Nyx Loves Music OMG SO TRUE HE WAS LITERALLY MY CHILDHOOD CRUSH 🤣🤣🤣💜
@@jofa6415 he had bad teeth though
I can't even begin to tell you guys how much goosebumps and tingles this song still gives me. I always come back and listen to it when I write and I genuinely feel the beating of my heart whenever it plays. Rest in peace our Goblin King.
This is so wholesome 💓 david bowies work is so inspirational to many mediums of work 💓 always write and continue your passions. Always be inspired!
Sup in these days i really spent a certain amount of time to make a tribute about jennifer connelly, i tried to match song and cutscene in the best way i could. I know its sound kinda lame but if you are a fan of 80's music check it out and let me know your thoughts!

I think about this scene on a regular basis. It's just perfection
RIP David Bowie. "It's only forever. Not long at all."
That line gets to me every time.
imagine being that girl, dancing with david bowie, that is a dream that is sadly impossible to achieve. RIP david my hero 😭
Been there, bro.
I swear if someone sings this too me or any song he sings in this movie I would marry them on the spot
where are you?! xD
Coco Joco ikr?
Coco Joco I'll sing it to you
That is the most 80s dress I have ever seen in my life, but I still want it 35 years later. I fell in love with it (and Jareth) at first sight.
2020: still remember this song.
Edit: 2021✌🥺💖
One of my favorite parts of the movie where those tiny creatures that would come and take the stone or whatever she had written the arrows on and turn it around to get you lost even more.
amazing movie and song :D
This is my favorite movie, and this is the song I listen to when I’m in quarantine, it always makes me forget things on my mind, this song is like a drug.
@@idkman8691 Geez, same
One of the greatest scenes from my childhood. It gets even sadder the older I get and watch this
I would have kissed him like crazy and never stopped - clocks and babies be damned!!
SAME.
Hahaha funny comment
if I was sarah fuck I would have stayed in the labyrinth and kissed him unconditionally yes for sure I would of married him too and be his beauty queen goblin.
Ugh, right???

The way he walks up to her and starts dancing. This is the confidence I want.
2:12 is where I was forever madly in love with Bowie. The moment he grabs her to dance woke something up inside of me. Bowie, you were a gem.
That look in his eyes ....
I love you.
Literally same 😂
love u for sharing that
i feel for him too and all about this movie.
he was something else, i cant even describe. xoxo mate
this song will be in my wedding playlist
+Helen Skyee Oh my god I feel you, girl. I've been having a lot of trouble not getting emotional when I think of him and your comment just made me lose it.
Paul LaPierre yeah it will be my wedding song :)
*****
Same..I can't even listen to Blackstar without balling my eyes out. He was something special. I'm happy to even have been alive when he was still making music. He will live on forever.
I always felt she was so privileged to dance with Bowie. Probably my most loved song of something I can’t explain x
I was 11, I feel you. :-)
We understand😭
Same here. I was around 10 when the movie came out. I've never felt emotional about a celebrity passing before now.
I feel the same! Even though you don't know them personally... They meant so much and it's so emotional :s you totally summed up how I feel completely!
David Bowie won't RIP though... Wherever he is he'll still be the same quirky innovative person he always was! ❤️
Btw, I was 4 - 5 when I liked him too... So... 1998ish-1999
Its 2019 and this scene is always my favourite!! Her make up and gown is so so beautiful and he looks so gothicly handsome. I would like to think they are silently crushing on each other because the chemistry is so there.

turns out he had lots of power over us after all...
First movie I ever remember seeing in a theater as a kid. This scene was so beautiful! I think every little girl dreams of a princess dress like this one at some point. Jennifer and David were iconic! R.I.P. David Bowie
Jareth's highlight shines brighter than my future.
It doesn't feel like he's passed away, I still find it hard to grasp that this man isn't here. Such a legend.
I know I'm a straight dude, but damn... Jareth is hot.
double floors no doubt
David Bowie is EVERYONE"S sexual orientation. Gay and Straight have no meaning in his presence
You're not a straight dude. Lol.
IKR
Are you sure...?
Even tho he was intentionally distracting her .... Jareth was beautiful in this scene ... Mesmerizing ❤️❤️ RIP David Bowie
Rest in peace sir David Bowie. Without you I wouldn't of had KISS and Alice Cooper xxxxxx
xxx
seen alice cooper on the 27th of December. white interesting I must say
+Teddy Kissinger or Twisted Sister!
+Teddy Kissinger Sadly, he's in hell being tortured for eternity. In case you did not
know, Bowie was a member of the church of satan, and also an admitted
pedophile. He admitted all this in 1977
+Dan Stevens shut up Dan.
I had such a crush on Bowie in this movie when I was a child. I found him absolutely captivating. My mother, however, thought he was the ugliest man alive, haha.
Really?? Oh he is one fine man lol. I wonder why she thought that :0
I honestly was just more in love with how he looked at her, and held her. I always liked the dark king kinda feel with guys, as dorky as it is.
RoCkbunny769 I hear you, I love that too. It makes the story less simplistic. :) there's more to anticipate!
***** I couldn't resist the power Bowie has over people lol. Idk, but he has some power
As did I
2:13 - 2:17 i feel pity to blink
The way he stares i'm so jealous
Omg that look he gives her just makes me melt.

ur not the only one😭
The way he approaches her here....MY KNEES WENT WEAK
This is one of the most important movies that has ever been made and all of time seriously
My favorite scene & favorite song from 1 of my very favorite movies ever & a bittersweet reminder of a time long ago when I didn't have to worry about bills, jobs, growing up & college :(
DITTO
DragonHeart613 Every generation thinks it's youth was a better time... but I really think the 80's were a better time to be a kid than today.
DragonHeart613The most romantic movie ever
Talos402000 i agree i was never part of the 80's as im only 18, but my generation is truly fucked in the head, kids becoming thugs at the age of 12, its sick, and its the elderly that suffer the most, i would love to have the power to make it all stop, and reboot life from the 80's, ive seen a lot of images/videos from the 80's and it looks to calm and peaceful, than what it is like now
+British Gaming Takeover I get what your saying but do you know how actually violent the 80s were
I showed this movie to my kids and I thought they kind of just tolerated it and barely got through it.
Then about 6 months later they bring it home on DVD. So we own it.
And I said I thought you thought that movie was kind of corny.
And my kids are like no we liked it.
Let's hear it for Labyrinth in 2018.
I was born in 1982 and grew up watching this and the Goonies. I introduced both of these movies to my daughter several years ago when she was small. She loves them. When we go on road trips she always asks me to play "You Remind me of the Babe."
Let's hear for Labyrinth in 2020 and beyond 😉💓
Can't go wrong

😍😍😍😍😍
Are you British? Because I don't see how you could overlook those teeth otherwise.
@@amityislandchum I don’t think the teeth are the point, I think some ppl look past superficial things like that 🤷♀️
1:30 God that GRIN! I could never resist a smile like that......loved David Bowie. I miss him, the world is NOT the same without him.
This was always my favorite scene.
Richelle Black SAME
I think this scene was most people's favorite... the final encounter scene is probably a close 2nd.
I miss David Bowie desperately...
me too, it hurts...some people should be above petty things such as dying. All i do is keep listening to his music everyday.
Rachel Murray desperately ❤️😔
Rachel Murray same here..
Sad David Bowie and Alan Rickman, two big names in the UK died only 4 days from each other and at the same age.
Everyone does, and if they don't....they should
