There's such a sad love
Deep in your eyes
A kind of pale jewel
Open and closed
Within your eyes
I'll place the sky
Within your eyes
There's such a fooled heart
Beating so fast
In search of new dreams
A love that will last
Within your heart
I'll place the moon
Within your heart
[Chorus]
As the pain sweeps through
Makes no sense for you
Every thrill is gone
Wasn't too much fun at all
But I'll be there for you-ou-ou
As the world falls down
[Verse 2]
Falling
Falling down
Falling in love
I'll paint you mornings of gold
I'll spin you Valentine evenings
Though we're strangers until now
We're choosing the path
Between the stars
I'll leave my love
Between the stars
[Chorus]

About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

I wanted to play this at my sister's wedding. She's a Labyrinth fan - and I had the idea that on that day we'd have masquerade masks hidden about the place. On cue, everyone would don their masks, leaving everybody but her and her beloved anonymous, wherein they could dance; and even as the world falls down she would have someone to be there for her - nobody else would matter but those two on that special, special day. I don't think, now, that I'll live to see the day, but I hope to take the thought of it with me.
That's so sweet though
I hope you do get to plan that for your sister’s wedding one day. It’s a very beautiful and special idea. :)
This idea is so beautiful! 😍

Beautiful film, David good performance!

Top.
_Labyrinth_ was such a fantastic movie. I mean, it's pretty hard to go wrong when your movie is the lovechild of Jim Henson, George Lucas, and David Bowie. The soundtrack is also great. Some of my favorites other than this one include "Magic Dance" and "Chilly Down"
Nothing can beat the Labyrinth, Hollywood today better not touch this as a remake, reboot or a sequel.
I love Underground too
Apart from the fact it flopped. I saw it at the cinema as a kid and loved it.
Yes, it's amazing, I love this, is my favorite movie 💖
roasthunter oh I didn’t know that I wouldn’t think it did
Losing David was almost like losing a relative for me. When I was a kid I used to watch Labyrinth on a VHS every day (still watch it nowadays, from time to time), then, when I grew up, I discovered his music and his art. My mum, who was in her teenage years in the 70s, liked him as well.
He has always been in my life somehow… now he’s back to his castle. We miss you, Goblin King
So sad that he is gone..
he went out in the most Bowie way possible though with Black Star

I was 8 when this movie came out and I immediately fell in love with him...I know as a kid that is crazy and maybe disturbing but I mean..it's Bowie 🤷 And Labyrinth was and always has been my favorite movie of all time. I always wanted to see him perform but never had the money for it and now that he's gone I regret not seeing him perform or trying to meet him. Since he's been gone I have learned a lot more about him, his music, his art and his family and his spirituality. I know we'll see him again some day but it still breaks my heart that he's not here anymore.
Fun Fact: Jareth is the only Villain in a movie that you miss after he gets defeated.
Now if Robby Rotten was in a movie, there would be two!
I beg to differ. Jareth, The Phantom of the Opera, Count Dracula . . . there are quite a few awesome villains.
@@leahchariandy2060 I would never say I would miss a murdering, child-grooming, lying, psycho like The Phantom Of the Opera but okay everyone has their type.
What are you talking about? It's not like teen me made a whole plan as to how I would have him some Toby back home and keep me.
"And remember, fair maiden, should you need us..." "Yes, should you need us, for any reason at all..."
David Bowie
I do need you, I don’t know why but every now and again in my life, I need you, all of you….. well???? Why didn’t you say so?!!!!!!!!!
The best.
The woman in the video is supposed to be an adult Sarah. 2:53 The door randomly opens and Hoggle and The Goblin King turn quickly, wondering “could it be Sarah?”, and when Hoggle checks and doesn’t see anything, THE DISAPPOINTMENT IN BOWIE’S FACE RIGHT THEN.
That's exaCTLY what I was thinking when I saw that part, I love how all the music videos for the labyrinth soundtrack have a story to them 😤✊👊👋
And if you look really closely at 3:16, you can see Sarah walking down the path away from the house. (This landscape painting is shown earlier at 2:35, with Bowie/Jareth's face forming the house). It must be Jareth and Hoggle's location. So I think Sarah really is there when the door flies open, but she must have run away when the door opened and headed back down the path...
His face breaks my heart
Best movie of the 80 and now
@@whomenahimjustaworm it looks more like Sarah is walking away
After being a huge labyrinth fan all my life I can’t believe I only found this video recently. Lovely to see Bowie’s dedication to the labyrinth narrative and his goblin king character, as he could have just done a standard music video that wasn’t even about the film. It’s like the sequel we all wanted!! Years later after leaving the labyrinth Jareth takes human form to try and win Sarah back in the real world but with the help of hoggle, except she’s forgotten about the labyrinth 😭♥️
and he was amazing a percent at it
There's a manga sequel known as Return to Labyrinth and a comic prequel known as Labyrinth Coronation. Though, some elements and events in each may canonically contradict each other as well as the film.

David Bowie, hands down, one of the most talented and influential artists to have ever lived. I never felt such a deep connection to anyone like I have him. Such a beautiful soul that left us too soon.
Every time I hear this song I tear up. To me, it is the most beautiful song I have ever heard.
The day he died, a part of me also died. I absolutely admire, adore and love him. Rest in peace David Bowie.
He has never really left. I hope you have found inner peace with this as we all must. This movie introduced me to him as a young child.
Bowie. Bless you for that. X
So cool ... inspired me to create "Space Buoy - Bowie's Love Child" on You Tube ....
This made me cry I feel the exact same way
@@SamanthaGarcia-rf1oz Much ❤️ to you my fellow Bowie fan.
This song is deep...it has a deeper meaning outside the movie but also in mirror of Jareth's love for Sarah. I could write a paper on this song on how one's individual love centers itself for a specific true love. The sacrifice to obtain the gift that you love, but in the end letting it go, if she chooses another path. That's real love! damn!
His name is Jareth, my name is Jared. Actually jarred.

I like this song, makes me remember Labyrinth movie, but it always makes me feel happy and sad at the same time. I think Bowie wanted it to be like that, like a bittersweet song
Agreed. Definitely bittersweet. Waiting for the person you love to find you, but they don't even know where to start.
I think he also felt that way about "Within You". You can see the pain of not being able to be with Sarah on Jareth's face, he truly loves her.
I cried my eyes out watching this video XD
I feel the same thing, happy and sad!!!
@@aliviawheeler6131 noo ur gonna make me cry
Does anyone understand this video? It’s about two people in the same space but in different dimensions both desiring to look into the eyes of the other. It’s sad and poetic and beautiful. David is a genius. ❤️🙏
Yess, exactly.
@nehemias cromwell mmhmm... Clearly
It's in reference to the movie "Labyrinth". Jareth ( David Bowie, AKA the Goblin King in the film) is pretty much expecting to see Sarah again after the events in the film. Sarah (the girl, she's played by Jennifer Conelly in the film. I don't know who plays her in the music video) is older and presumably working an office job. Jareth has powers in the film so I assume he's trying to subtly use his photos to lure Sarah back to him. It's not clear if she remembers everything that happened to her when she was 15 but she seemingly has an urge to find Jareth (it's implied that he was in love with Sarah). Sarah, however, never goes back to Jarethl and thus, both Hoggle (the dwarf) and Jareth are disappointed that no one is there.
@@celanalimoongal3368 The older Sarah in this video is portrayed by French actress Charlotte Valandrey :)
@@whomenahimjustaworm Thank you! :)

The music video features a mix of clips from the film, specially shot footage that shows David Bowie (who seems to be playing a version of his character from the film, Jareth) performing the song and clips a young woman (French actress Charlotte Valandrey) - who appears to be an older version of Sarah - in an office.
The music video begins by showing an older Sarah relaxing in an office as a photocopier prints multiple images of Jareth's face. Meanwhile, Jareth is seen performing the track in an elegant room with Hoggle as his sole companion. A portrait of Sarah hangs on the wall. At one point the portrait crashes to the ground, prompting Jareth and Hoggle to look to the door as they falsely believe there is someone on the other side. The doorway is empty, and Jareth is seen staring ahead grimly upon realizing no one was there. Both Sarah and Jareth appear to want to go to the other, although neither of them are willing to take the first step.

Is this what Jareth thinks Sarah is doing every day when she gets home? Making endless photocopies of his face?
LOL well, it's Jareth. He's such an entitled, goblin.
Maybe she is
Isn’t that what we do when we pine and think upon a special person...making copy after copy of the original memory of them, a special memory of a special event with them? Would it not be better to have the real event in front of us?
She’s doing this not to be hurt, to reflect as well. Lyrics say as such, sort of.
I mean her room is full of his merch so who knows
That’s what I would be doing and then sticking them all over my room

This song was playing on my list when I drove home from the hospital when my daughter was born. It took new meaning to me. It now means that as her father, I watch her go through life. I will watch her grow into a wonderful person, and if she needs anything at all she only needs to ask. Thank you David, she requests to hear this song every once and awhile. You truly are a hero. This is so bittersweetly sad and beautiful..
I like to think that in this video, Jareth came to the human world, became a famous musician hoping to be with her and she’s thinking, “Funny, I’ve seen that face before…”
The Labyrinth is one of my most favourite movies of all time.
Here's a little theory I thought of:
The music video for Underground was kind of how Jareth got into the Labyrinth, he started out as friends with Hoggle but then they had a falling out. The movie happened and at the end, Jareth would watch over Sarah in his owl form. And then we get to this video and it's just Hoggle and Jareth waiting for Sarah and Sarah misses everything from the Labyrinth and wants to go back but for some reason she doesn't. Jareth and Hoggle are just anticipating her arrival.
This probably isnt what it entails at all but its a fun little theory I came up with.

I was 17 when the labyrinth soundtrack was released. I'm a hardcore Bowie fan, and even if his 80's works are the weakest part of his career, I however recall these songs with much pleasure..
Walter Bianco let’s dance and modern love and ashes to ashes are very good works all done by Bowie in the 80’s, to me it’s late 80’s early 90’s Bowie that’s pretty bad, that Fucking techno album is unlistenable
