I’m thinking about picking up the Atom AR Hoody for something here in WA State. Want something warmer than my soft shells but not as warm as going full shell or puffy down.
Has Atom LT for a year or so, switched it to Proton LT. Great fir and features, but side panels didn’t do it for me. Proton LT is very similar in size and fit, but has no side panels and is more breathable overall.
Kit Badger thanks for the quick reply definitely thought it was the ranger / pine on my monitor, rewatched video you say the color in video sorry I missed it first time Any problems with the zipper? Lots of ppl complaining zipper falls down easily with movement
It really comes down to where you are geographically. I wear mine walking to the gym in shorts here, about 6 blocks away when it is 40 degrees out. I wouldn't hang out on a park bench with it when it drops down to freezing though. It will be generally warmer than a fleece, if for no other reason than it does a pretty good job cutting wind. Definitely one of my favorite layers. Sorry I don't have a hard fast answer. :)
Expensive yes, I would argue it isn't necessarily a rip off though. There is a lot of amazing textiles and engineering that goes into their products. You will, admittedly, pay more for the dead bird logo than a relatively comparable piece from another brand. But I have jackets of theirs I have used daily for over 10 years straight and they are still going strong.
Tough call... Hoodies are nice and cozy, but it depends on your intended use. If it is your go-to around town jacket, then Yes. If you plan on layering this on adventures that might get cold and wet, probably Not. Hoods are great until you are dealing with multiple layers of them, in my experience.
Sample size of 1... No issues. Now mind you, I don't keep the jacket in a compression sack or anything, but when I am traveling with it, I have no issues jamming it into a pouch or my pack. Hasn't lost any magic so far.
I've had that particular one for quite awhile. There is a photo, at the bottom of the page on my site, of me wearing that one in Afghanistan back in 2011... kitbadger.com/arcteryx-atom-lt/ Suffice to say, if mine catastrophically exploded tomorrow, I would immediately replace it...
Kit Badger In both the video review and the photos it looks greenish, are you sure it is the crocodile color and not the ranger green? Crocodile looks more beige from what I’ve seen. Cheers
I have this jacket. I love this jacket. And of course I love this review. Yeah, yeah, I'm just in a 'love mode' right now.
Hahaha, it is a rad jacket. Thanks for watching. :)
GREAT review. Thanks
Thanks man! They are to date one of my favorite little jackets.

That would probably serve you quite well up there.

I haven’t tried that one. I may when this one finally dies.
Any notable differences between the LEAF version and the regular version?
Only the color.
What size is the jacket you are wearing? & what is your height/weight, etc. thanks for the video!
Hey Mike, I'm about 6' and 175lbs. Medium fits me great. Thanks for watching!
@@KitBadger About the same size and looking for this info, thanks.
@@HHHH-vy5zv glad to help!
@@KitBadger On the note of arcteryx, do you happen to know a thing or two about LEAF Alpha vs LEAF Alpha LT?
@@HHHH-vy5zv if memory serves, the LT is (Light Weight).
Is this the roman pine color or the leaf version in ranger green?
It is the LEAF version in crocodile. Not sure why it has a greenish hue in the video...

Ya, hard to have the colors come through correctly. Thanks for watching!
First, thank you for another great review.
How warm do you think it is? Would you say it is a winter jacket or just a replacement for a fleece jacket?

I thinks you answered it perfectly. I was looking for something like GEN III ECWCS lvl 7 only less bulk and it looks like it is not it :)
:)
Arcteryx is a massive rip off. You pay for the logo.

Would you still choose the jacket over the hoody?

do you by any chance know whether or not the LEAF variant is sized differently compared to the regular variant?? Thank you for your help in advance.
The sizing from the LEAF line to their regular line is the same. Med is a Med. Hope that helps.
I heard coreloft loses its ability to keep you warm if you compressing it. would love to know your opinion
if you keep compressing it*
Sample size of 1... No issues. Now mind you, I don't keep the jacket in a compression sack or anything, but when I am traveling with it, I have no issues jamming it into a pouch or my pack. Hasn't lost any magic so far.
Kit Badger thanks for the quick reply. How long have you had this jacket? If you don't !mind me asking. I'm really interested in this jacket.

What color is this?
It is their "Crocodile" from their LEAF (Law Enforcement Armed Forces) Line.
Anyone know the difference between the atom lt leaf version and the regular atom lt (not leaf) other then the colors?
CGM on the regular one, the logo is reflective. I believe that’s the only difference, but I could be wrong.
Are you cozy?
#cozy
Just got a ATOM LT hoodie in black. Awesome review as always! (Except for the Q stuff) jk!
They’re rad jackets!
Go Find Work :). Great simple vid
Thanks Carlos!
Is this guy like a Green Beret or something?
