thank you so much for this! i've been searching everywhere how to slide and was never able to. I never found out about how to place your foot though, which helps extremely. thank you!!
Thanks for the "how to", it helped me quite a bit in actually learning and accomplishing a slide. I think it was the slow mo in action that helped me the most. Lookin forward to more videos! " Oh crap. This is too much speed" haha so true
Woah man this video helped me out so much! Thanks. After just a bit of practice I picked it up quick, having my trucks loose sorta helped me and having a lot of speed helps too. Its also kinda like switching on a snowboard :)
dude i cant believe this has only got 7000 views! i just watched a video of some guy trying to explain toeside 180s and it was an ok video from an educatinal point of view but there was a shit load of background noise and crappy videoing skills which made it painful to watch yet somehow he got like 35000 views.. wtf :/ i wish more people made videos like this man, epic job ;D
I never knew about taking my front foot off! I've always been taking my back foot off and trying to kick it out even when carving hard, but it doesn't do much. Definitely gonna try this soon!
Very nice video, you didn't do into too much detail but you explained and demonstrated what you said. I think you should do some videos of some advanced tricks you can do with this Great video :)
@247Longboard Always keep your weight on your heels (If Heelside Stand-up 180) because if you don't, your front wheels will stop siding immediately and your board will pitch you off of your board.
I really like the video man, advice and all, and my criticism on the design of the video is for the slide show dont use the font for the part 1 2 and 3 though the color and the placement were nice keep up the good work and im definitely subbing
Great video! Surprisingly informative. I have a Landyachtz cruiser and have been practicing alot on my slides. Don't quite have it yet. When I go for the 180 I slow down and stuff it going sideways, then fall off. From you video it sounds like my problem might be that I am not going fast enough. Thanks again. Big help! AK
Hey, awesome video! i got 180 slides down pretty well, both regular and switch, but im having trouble doing regular slides where you come back to the position where you started. Any advice?
Hey, i'm pretty sure Monster Hawgs are slideable... If that's a word. but if you want to start sliding, start with something 81a or softer, like 78a for starting to slide. Abec 11 Flashbacks and freerides are great, as well as Seismic Crybabies in their 80a form.
I would invest in a new board... check out the landyachtz drop carve. it is fairly flexy, has good grip tape so your feet will not slip out, and has kicktails so you can pop some tricks. Customize it, i would recommend getting it with Paris V2 trucks (any color), and if you are wanting to slide then get Abec11 Retro Freerides 83a. They are easy to push out but they also grip when you need them to. Get it with bones reds bearings and that should put you around $245 or something...
yeah I also have the mini monsters but they are not ideal to slide on lower speed they have a lot of grip.Me and my mates use them for downhill. I recommend you getting the mini zombies 82a. They are perfect for sliding.
You can slide with anything if your going fast enough, if your having trouble at first just pick up the speed. As long as you got a helmet and some knee guards, don't be afraid to fall.
U no you're the best! now i can do a stand up slide! :D (by the way... are Divine Street Slayers Wheels 72mm 78a good wheels to slide with ? or do i really need to buy wheels like orangatang durian or sector 9 butterballs ? (because i always see people slide on that wheels))
I'm looking for a step up from my S9, mostly for cruising and carving as I only ride to get to places. The Loaded Vanguard came highly recommended to me, but a problem I had with my first board is that I couldn't stop quick or safe enough when approaching traffics, curbs and other hazardous areas. Would I be able to pull off small 180 slides/speed checks to maintain a moderate speed? It doesn't seem stable enough, but I am rather inexperienced after all.
I've got some old 58mm Spitfire's lying around somewhere, these are really hard skateboard wheels, not the softer longboard wheels. Is it advicable to start out learning on them? Wheels i ride right now are 78a 60mm OJs, which are verry grippy and i fly straight off when i try a slide..
depends.... flatground: looser to your preference so you can carve into your slides. on a hill: maybe a bit tighter. i personally like them loose enough so i don't feel unstable when i push.
do you think i should get a new board? i have a mindless raider with the crappy mindless trucks but with durian wheels. do you think i can still check slide?
I have manage to do a half way slide, but I dont really know how, it happend when I was trying and I got suprised actully.. But I dont know if I need more speed to get it to losen from the ground easier? and does the foot placement matter that much, the way you stand isnt working at all, do you got any tip?
I ride goofy (but am right footed and right handed) and find it much easier to do a heel side 180 while riding fakie (maybe because it still is more or less a kick turn motion w left and pushing the board out w right) - any tips for getting it to be just as easy not fakie? I suspect that I am just not as strong in my left leg and am tentative pushing out the deck with my left foot, nor am I as comfortable w right foot in front initiating the kick/turn. Thanks.
Hey bro any tips? I can get the slide to 90 or just a standup slide but when I try to do the full 180 I fly off or can't spin it around all the way and end up stopping. But yeah I am using some soft 80a otangs
I have the 55" gravity ed economy fit out with some tang stimulus 86a and have a hard time breaking free. Do i need to get a shorter board or harder wheels?
Help. I just recently got my first board and I'm exactly doing what you guys say but instead of getting a slide, I either get a hard carve or my front foot's heel catches onto the ground which throws me off board. Any idea of what i might be doing wrong? Also, as an attempt to slide, I'm twisting my body to the carve and then try to hard release into the slide.
hey i was wondering if you can slide on a cruiser board. Its called the globe chromantic and the wheels are soft as they are urethane wheels. Im not sure if its possible because of the board shape and the wheel type. Please help me?
I have a wolfshark 2012 with cult converters and am getting a 2013 wolfshark soon I use mini monsters sometimes and I can slide easily on them in the rain I can get like half way and then the wheels lock and I bail any help would be nice thanks!
This was the BEST video i have ever seen to learn these slides!
thank you so much for this! i've been searching everywhere how to slide and was never able to. I never found out about how to place your foot though, which helps extremely. thank you!!

" Oh crap. This is too much speed" haha so true
Best tutorial I've watched.
Smooth! Great tutorial, can't wait for the longboard season to start again!
Woah man this video helped me out so much! Thanks. After just a bit of practice I picked it up quick, having my trucks loose sorta helped me and having a lot of speed helps too. Its also kinda like switching on a snowboard :)
im coming from original skateboard trucks which pretty much do 180's for you so thank you. this is going to help once i break in the bushings
dude i cant believe this has only got 7000 views!

THANKS BRO!!!!!
I never knew about taking my front foot off! I've always been taking my back foot off and trying to kick it out even when carving hard, but it doesn't do much. Definitely gonna try this soon!
i highly recommend the new shark wheels that came out recently for sliding, they are such a smooth ride and make sliding so much easier.
i have them definetly the best
Thank you! thanks to your tips i learnt to do slides the first time i tried! :D
best tutorial video so far! :D
the same exact thing happened to me and I tightened up my trucks and it feels great now! and it wont mess up your steering
@coveringspisos Yes! They are hard and the right shape for sliding, therefore they should do the job!
Very nice video, you didn't do into too much detail but you explained and demonstrated what you said. I think you should do some videos of some advanced tricks you can do with this
Great video :)
1:51 looks sooo sick! Was it on purpose or a extremly awesome bail?
nice video, u guys deserve more views.
@247Longboard Always keep your weight on your heels (If Heelside Stand-up 180) because if you don't, your front wheels will stop siding immediately and your board will pitch you off of your board.

Nice video best tutorial btw song name strobe Klaypex remix
Sick vid, helped me out a lot. Imo I find that with softer wheels, its easier to slide with more speed.

how are the orangatang baluts (purple) for sliding? pls answer and awesome video, thanks!
yeah I also have the mini monsters but they are not ideal to slide on lower speed they have a lot of grip.Me and my mates use them for downhill. I recommend you getting the mini zombies 82a. They are perfect for sliding.
After watching this I went out and learned them in 20 min thx

Hey nide video with nice tips!
What longboard is this at 2:13 ?
Thanks for the advise. I will give it a try.
Man, is it just an illusion or is that board wedged like crazy?!
I'm looking for a step up from my S9, mostly for cruising and carving as I only ride to get to places. @RadRider33 Hey thanks man and it helped alot! I can now do them with out flying foward!
ive got zombie hawgs 80a and there awesome but still a little grippy. recommend 84a
Good video. My problem is I get stuck at 90 degrees and get pitched off. Any tips?
I learned on Otang Moronga 83as and they lasted so long. Like 2 and a half months untill they were cored.
This a great video been out practicing a bit today!! Also what's the name of the song u playing?
It's some remix of Strobe by Deadmau5. Not sure which though.
What program did you use to edit this GoPro footage? Thanks
thanks dude. Great advice
That looks like a nice board what is it?
I've got some old 58mm Spitfire's lying around somewhere, these are really hard skateboard wheels, not the softer longboard wheels.

You can slide any board and any wheel

What are u using to publish your gopro vids? I just got one
what's best to startt learning the stand up's loose or hard trucks? and do you think the ABEC11 noskoolz while be able to do the job? :)
does my truck influences a lot when learning how to slide?
I am learning on 82a sector 9 race form center set.
FINALLY DID IT!
Can you make a 180 Powerslide tutorial? (Holding out a little longer before doing the 180)
I have Orangatang 65mm fat free, yellow if that means anything, and I slide well with these. I am new at sliding
i have a pintale and idk if you can do 180's with those and my board isn't a name brand but its pretty smooth to cruise.
no. pintails are only good for cruising, and they arent even really good at that.
BoardsBefore Hoes he uses a pintail in this video at one point. know more what youre talking about, its all about personal preferance
do you think i should get a new board? i have a mindless raider with the crappy mindless trucks but with durian wheels. do you think i can still check slide?
great video
"aw crap, this is too much speed" ahaha love it
Radrider33 how do u do a stand up slide stop. I'm subbing btw
I have manage to do a half way slide, but I dont really know how, it happend when I was trying and I got suprised actully.. sure are
To do these slide do you put you're trucks looser or harder?
@hublind all durians are the same size... The sizes have different names. Fat free is the smallest stimulus is medium and durians are the biggest.
112homai the mm doesn't matter it's the "a" he was talking about the best would be from 78a to 86a at most for sliding. As for mm 76 is perfect.
thank you so much....u know how many times i bust my ass trying to figure this shit out
do another video on a pintail , plz , nice teaching video bro , ty
Help. I just recently got my first board and I'm exactly doing what you guys say but instead of getting a slide, I either get a hard carve or my front foot's heel catches onto the ground which throws me off board. Any idea of what i might be doing wrong?

@hublind Also, there totally fine to slide.
