I just played DQV for the first time recently. I picked Nera. Mainly because I felt like Hero Daddy and Nera had a new love thing going on. Bianca is cool and all but...I chose new love over old friendship. The second reason was that the quest was about marrying Nera in the beginning and I wanted to follow through. The third reason was that I didn't like that the game tried to pressure me into marrying Bianca. I found out later that Nera we *sweet and sassy and saucy* so I have no regrets

@@RPGArchive1 To be honest I'd rather spank Deborah than wife her. There's also the fact that it makes no sense for Hero Daddy to marry someone so dominant. He was a rebellious slave for years after all
@@RPGArchive1 old comment but i feel like some players don't get much of nera's personality, in heroes she is actually kind of sadistic where she sees the cat boss and think it's all cute looking meanwhile it's literally trying to kill her
Even though I have never played dragon quest V myself, my insight on this game from what I've heard from other people is a lot of people do focus on the marriage aspect of this game. However, I've actually heard that this game actually has some of the best gameplay mechanics of the entire dragon quest series. I remember when the ds edition of dragon quest V was incredibly sought after because it had an incredibly short print run and there was a time where copies of this game were going for anywhere from 80 to 100 dollars on ebay, until it eventually got its reprint. I'll eventually make time to play the game myself, but from people that I've talked to that look at the game from beyond the marriage part of it, a lot of people consider this one of the top tier entries of the dragon quest line up because of its tight gameplay mechanics and endearing story.
It's a lot of people's favorite, not mine though. Story wise it might be the best, but I think other entries do gameplay much better. My opinion of course

I picked Nera/Flora because she's more attractive/feminine and it's so cute how lovey/dovey she is towards ya

When I went through DQ5 the first time, I picked Bianca. You guys are right. They kinda guilt you into it. I feel like with the history it's almost like, why WOULDN'T you pick your childhood friend? It's a common anime trope too.
I also liked the fact that my kids were blonde. At the time, I actually became a Dad, and my son is ALSO blond, whereas I'm not. I had a personal connection there.
Finally? The son kinda reminds me of Super Saiyan Teen Gohan. Lol
That's quite the personal connection! I think the whole becoming a father thing makes this game stand out. Obviously, a lot of people can relate to it, at some point in their life. But having it happen in tandem with the game is a whole new level!
Well it makes sense that the Hero’s son would look like Gohan since his character design was made during the cell games arc of dragon ball Z.
Bianca pretended like she didn't give a crap about our hero. Screw her
In retrospect, there is only one wrong choice and I didn't pick her in either of my playthroughs. Yuji Horii knows what I'm talking about.

Sadly I haven’t played it yet but I don’t remember marrying anyone in DQ11. Did you say that you can marry someone in that game?
