@@HushPuppyBandit Wasteland 2 & Torment Tides of Numenera are your answer. Both games are TBS Tactics RPG. If you want and excellent TBS tactics JRPG theme instead than I recommend Legend of Heroes: Trails of series (Trails of Sky, Trails of Cold Steel, etc)
The game is based on the Swedish roleplaying game (pen and paper kind) Mutant Year Zero which is in turn is a remake of the original Mutant that was released back in 1984. It's set in a post-apocalyptic Sweden where survivors eek out a living in the ruins of a bygone civilization. Players could either be straight up normal humans, mutated humans, psi-mutans and, perhaps most famously, mutated animals. If you play the video game, there are lots of Swedish references and in-jokes. Like roadsigns to Swedish town and cities. When you visit the bar at the arc the owner is called Pripps which was a Swedish beer brewery (before being bought by Carlsberg) and in the background he plays horribly cheesy Swedish dansbands-music.
One of my favorite parts of this game is how it gates things off, but its not completely artificial. For example, I snuck into one of the final areas of the game early on, utilizing some aspects of the stealth system and grabbed ghoul armor 1/4 of the way through the game and gave it to bormin. It's all about rewarding you for thinking outside of the box and really getting those numbers cranked. You can stealth kill enemies you never thought possible by combining firepower between multiple troops in a single turn. So long as you take the guy out in that turn it doesn't matter.
This looks great and interesting. The entire idea and setting along with the cartoonish graphics seems like something you would find in the PS2 days and I love it:D AAA used to come up with creative and wacky shit like this and we need it now more than ever since AAA just don't want to be fun and creative anymore. Also the gameplay looks very good:)

I just started the game and it's definitely fun and I've never even played a game like this before and I really like how much it makes you think. The thing about the RNG- if you figure out the optimal way to attack the enemies you can actually get your gun to be 100% chance to hit versus 75% for example, I simply figuring out how to run to the right location before you take your shot.
I've had my eye on this game for sometime now, been hoping you would do a review on it. Glad its turned out to be a good game decided to pick it up through your GMG link. Keep up the great work mack.
I don't usually play turn based games, and I really couldn't get into Xcom at all. But I'm loving this! It's so refreshing. The script writing is really good, so is the voice acting. It does have some issues, and it crashes often when you fast travel but those things aside it's really charming to play. And VERY satisfying when you win a battle. Mack, I would recommend finishing the game and then putting up the review instead of playing through half the game and then giving your opinion on it (see Spec Ops: The Line). Also, a lot of other people who do, in fact, finish the game don't show footage of the later stages because 1. either the developer asked them not to show that footage or 2. because it may be considered spoiler or 3. both. With that being said, good review. You are one of the few reviewers whose opinion I value nowadays and I thought you should know that. Keep the good work going.
As Mack says, you don't have to finish a game to see whether it's worth buying and Mack will just about always say how long he's played a game for when he comes to review one.
@@xMTxcameron Then I won't spoil it for you. Spec Ops: The Line is a very average TPS with a really really good story that you become aware of towards the end of the game. The thing I hated about this genre of games is exactly the random chance of everything going to hell. They are called tactical, but all that goes to the trashcan once you roll a bad dice. You can rethink your tactics and prepare a cunning trap, start over, but when the fight begins the computer finds a new way to screw you. It's a game of chance. I'm happy to see more XCom-like games on the market. This one looks a bit too weird for my taste, but hopefully it serves as a nice introduction to people unfamiliar to the genre. I may try it eventually. I'm just waiting for Phoenix Point to finally release...
where is he streaming?
Why did you changed your channels name?
DIdn´t heard about this game before seems interesting, anyway when can we expect Just Cause 4 review Mack?
Just do it when you can Mack, don't stress. Cheers mate!
It would have been cool if the graphics looked like the character illustrations in the HUD! The character models look adequate but they don't have as much life or personality without that linework.
Enjoying this a lot on Xbox Gamepass. Probably a game I'd never have bought so glad I stumbled upon it. The loot is quite hard to see as there's so much junk around and it's pretty tough even on normal but good fun so far.
Did you end up beating this game?
