I think it was Paul and Constantine who brought idolatry into the Christian Church. Paul predated the gospellers; he invented a new other god Jesus (and maybe The Father, too, castigating YHWH as the Demiurge). It was the criminal Constantine who brought graven images into the church from the Imperial Cult and the cult of Sol Invictus at the least. Edit to make clear it was Paul who invented Jesus as opposed to the historical Jesus, who was _not_ the Jesus of the gospels!

Great reply by Tovia Singer. There's almost nothing in this video about idolatry (which is mentioned in the title,) but it is very much about the Christian & Jewish definition of "God." One fault I would point out is that Christians don't view the "Demiurge" as the Word, or Jesus. They view the original God as the Demiurge, which is of course a Gnostic tradition of viewing God as really being the Devil, because of things like fire & brimstone & anything else you might not like God for (slavery, war brides, killing the innocents) while leaving the door open to Jesus as being a god of "Love," especially since Jesus fought now wars and destroyed nothing, especially the Roman occupation & oppression of Israel.

There is an argument that the John verse the "word was God" and "the word became flesh".. is speaking about a 'debar', that is hebrew context of 'Plan' ,, it is the "plan" which is a divine plan (ie, God ordained plan). not that the 'word is God' but that the 'word/plan is divine', and this divine plan became 'flesh' , that is it was manifested into time and history. . thus it reads "And the plan was God's and the Plan was divine".. and "This plan has come into being (come to pass, ie became real/flesh)" ... and of course in John's mind this divine plan was the God ordained plan of the coming of the Messiah which he thinks was Jesus. . the interpretation of these texts making the word Jesus, the god man, came much later from the corrupt church, but was not the original thought of the author .. that's the argument anyhow

As well it should be noted that the word for FLESH in John 1:14, in Greek is "sarx," which is record 147 times in the New Testament, and can simply mean the Plan BECAME A REALITY, or, MANIFESTED. But .. Trinitarians take sarx here to mean "literal flesh." Bible Unitarians hold sarx is simply talking about the *"earthly manifestation"* of God's Plan of Redemption for humanity. 🙏🏽

It's a fascinating take. But it's not Christian orthodoxy. It's more of an explanation for why the concept of the trinity is subject to heresies if one doesn't look at it correctly. You correctly see that Jesus is being identified with the Divine Utterances here. But he's not meant to be confused with a lesser Greek-style God. The earliest creeds we know that talk about the way in which God's word is God stress that He's eternally emanating from The Father. Jesus is God as much as He is God's word. I can quote this video and say "Tovia Singer says/teaches" even though I'm not part of his soul, because of how we perceive a being's emanations as "them" in a very real way. I it's no more true to say "vibrations probably came out of Tovia's mouth, which were recorded, and then published on the internet, and then my phone vibrated, and my ears interpreted. So my ears are actually what say..." in fact, it's a little less true to blame my ears for the words of Tovia. This is why the Angel of The Lord can be conflated with God. Why the Spirit of The Lord is God. And why the Word of the Lord is God. It's not idolatry. As long as you're truly quoting the untwisted word of God, it's still God emanating into the world. This is the claim that Jesus is God. It's not relying on a sub-God or demi-god. It's claiming that thw Divine Utterances of God are Him in a very substantial sense.

The duty of the Catholic is to enter into the life of the Holy Trinity through deep, contemplative prayer of Sacred Scripture and to relieve the suffering of one’s neighbor. In ancient times, bishops called the faithful during times of plagues to go out to the pagans to care and nurse them, and bury their dead. Christ moved the temple to one’s heart and soul, and to see one’s neighbor as in Christ, and to have universal vision of communion for all of God’s creation. One needs fidelity, the acceptance of the cross of daily life, to avoid sin, grow in grace, and do the will of the Father to enter into eternal life, not saved today, but persevering in life of God, loving Him above all things. There is no idolatry but holy communion with God, neighbor, and His holy work in creation.

The beginning of John 1 is poetry. It’s not meant to be taken literally. Jesus never claimed to be anything more than the Son of God. Also, “houtos”, the Greek word they translate as he/him, is a demonstrative pronoun related to “logos,” so it should be translated this/it. God’s “logos” becoming flesh could be said about Adam as well. That does not make him God. The Bible needs to be understood in its original language, as well as the cultural and historical context. It can’t just be read as it’s translated and understood accurately. I agree that the church became corrupted when they allowed pagan elements to be introduced. The central idea of Christianity is that all of God’s creation will be judged at the end of the age and we ALL fall short. Jesus came to atone for us all, BUT we have to accept his sacrifice. The only ones who will be separated from God and Jesus’ saving grace are those who refuse to accept it.
The Catholic Church returned to polytheism by creating a plethora of saints. And it is a good thing, because this brings the church and the religion closer to people, and closer to the Greco-Roman culture Christianity grew from. It makes Christianity richer, more flexible, more embracing, and more alive. Every new saint adds his or her thoughts and deeds to the common pool, in effect enriching the Christian intellectual landscape continuously. Christianity is not a cult of one dead book. The real Bible of Christianity is an endless library of live books that are being contributed to by all its followers every day.

The Essence of God at no point has become one with the mirror (the person of Jesus the Christ), BUT the attributes of the Sun (a metaphor here for God) are reflected in the mirror (a metaphor again for Jesus the Christ)--and if the mirror could talk and if it claimed that the sun is in the mirror or that they are one, it would not be speaking falsely. And if the mirror claimed that it is just a mirror and nothing more, it again would be speaking the truth. The analogy of the Essence of the Divinity is like the Sun itself, and the rays of the Sun as would be the Holy Spirit, and the perfect eternal mirror that reflects all the attributes of divinity would be the Christ himself. The mistake that our dear Christians are making is fundamentally “mixing the Essence of Divinity with the Attributes of Divinity. The Essence of Divinity is absolutely unknown and never will be known. Our knowledge of reality is that of the attributes and not the essence. No one knows the essence of even one single atom much less the Essence of Divinity that has brought it into existence. Also, who are the authors? Why is there nothing according to Peter or James, the heads of the Church in Jerusalem and Antioch?

This is the 1st covenant and is under the levitic/law rules. The new covenant is under the melchelzedek priesthood where one messiah can be both king and high priest. When you have two priesthoods you have to have two separate kingdoms, which we do and the levitic priesthood is earthly and requires 2 anointed and the melchelzedek is heavenly and only requires 1 anointed which is Jesus. 2 KINGDOMS….2 PRIESTHOODS…2 COVENANTS….SIMPLE AS THAT. Almost as strange as modern Jews who claim that their predecessors never worshipped anyone but one God though we can see that this is plainly not the case.. there’s a whole council of gods in the Torah, whether you want to call them angels or sons of Elohim or what. I use an interlinear Bible so I can become familiar with the Hebrew words, and I have noticed blatant mistranslations. I find it very disheartening, and it’s hard to reconcile it with what I have found out now.

I think it was Paul and Constantine who brought idolatry into the Christian Church. Paul predated the gospellers; he invented a new other god Jesus (and maybe The Father, too, castigating YHWH as the Demiurge). It was the criminal Constantine who brought graven images into the church from the Imperial Cult and the cult of Sol Invictus at the least.

Great reply by Tovia Singer. There's almost nothing in this video about idolatry (which is mentioned in the title,) but it is very much about the Christian & Jewish definition of "God." One fault I would point out is that Christians don't view the "Demiurge" as the Word, or Jesus. They view the original God as the Demiurge, which is of course a Gnostic tradition of viewing God as really being the Devil, because of things like fire & brimstone & anything else you might not like God for (slavery, war brides, killing the innocents) while leaving the door open to Jesus as being a god of "Love," especially since Jesus fought now wars and destroyed nothing, especially the Roman occupation & oppression of Israel.

There is an argument that the John verse the "word was God" and "the word became flesh".. is speaking about a 'debar', that is hebrew context of 'Plan' ,, it is the "plan" which is a divine plan (ie, God ordained plan). not that the 'word is God' but that the 'word/plan is divine', and this divine plan became 'flesh' , that is it was manifested into time and history. . thus it reads "And the plan was God's and the Plan was divine".. and "This plan has come into being (come to pass, ie became real/flesh)" ... and of course in John's mind this divine plan was the God ordained plan of the coming of the Messiah which he thinks was Jesus. . the interpretation of these texts making the word Jesus, the god man, came much later from the corrupt church, but was not the original thought of the author .. that's the argument anyhow

But .. Trinitarians take sarx here to mean "literal flesh." Bible Unitarians hold sarx is simply talking about the *"earthly manifestation"* of God's Plan of Redemption for humanity.

Now as a person clinging to the Jewish faith, the Unitarian's still have far too high of a Christology for my view of the Hebrew scriptures and adeherence to the Shema (Shema Yisrael Adonai Eloheinu Andonai Echad).. a high christology does not fit into the concept that God is one and HE is the only Savior or Redeemer and has no Son other then Israel by way of Covenant
It's a fascinating take. But it's not Christian orthodoxy. It's more of an explanation for why the concept of the trinity is subject to heresies if one doesn't look at it correctly. You correctly see that Jesus is being identified with the Divine Utterances here. But he's not meant to be confused with a lesser Greek-style God. The earliest creeds we know that talk about the way in which God's word is God stress that He's eternally emanating from The Father. Jesus is God as much as He is God's word. I can quote this video and say "Tovia Singer says/teaches" even though I'm not part of his soul, because of how we perceive a being's emanations as "them" in a very real way. I it's no more true to say "vibrations probably came out of Tovia's mouth, which were recorded, and then published on the internet, and then my phone vibrated, and my ears interpreted. So my ears are actually what say..." in fact, it's a little less true to blame my ears for the words of Tovia. This is why the Angel of The Lord can be conflated with God. Why the Spirit of The Lord is God. And why the Word of the Lord is God. It's not idolatry. As long as you're truly quoting the untwisted word of God, it's still God emanating into the world. This is the claim that Jesus is God. It's not relying on a sub-God or demi-god. It's claiming that thw Divine Utterances of God are Him in a very substantial sense.

The beginning of John 1 is poetry. It’s not meant to be taken literally. Jesus never claimed to be anything more than the Son of God.
Also, “houtos”, the Greek word they translate as he/him, is a demonstrative pronoun related to “logos,” so it should be translated this/it. God’s “logos” becoming flesh could be said about Adam as well. That does not make him God.
The Bible needs to be understood in its original language, as well as the cultural and historical context. It can’t just be read as it’s translated and understood accurately. I agree that the church became corrupted when they allowed pagan elements to be introduced.
The central idea of Christianity is that all of God’s creation will be judged at the end of the age and we ALL fall short. Jesus came to atone for us all, BUT we have to accept his sacrifice. The only ones who will be separated from God and Jesus’ saving grace are those who refuse to accept it.
The Catholic Church returned to polytheism by creating a plethora of saints. And it is a good thing, because this brings the church and the religion closer to people, and closer to the Greco-Roman culture Christianity grew from. It makes Christianity richer, more flexible, more embracing, and more alive. Every new saint adds his or her thoughts and deeds to the common pool, in effect enriching the Christian intellectual landscape continuously. Christianity is not a cult of one dead book. The real Bible of Christianity is an endless library of live books that are being contributed to by all its followers every day.

This is the 1st covenant and is under the levitic/law rules. The new covenant is under the melchelzedek priesthood where one messiah can be both king and high priest. Almost as strange as modern Jews who claim that their predecessors never worshipped anyone but one God though we can see that this is plainly not the case.. there’s a whole council of gods in the Torah, whether you want to call them angels or sons of Elohim or what. I use an interlinear Bible so I can become familiar with the Hebrew words, and I have noticed blatant mistranslations. I find it very disheartening, and it’s hard to reconcile it with what I have found out now.
