I dont understand how so many people on youtube struggle to get bmw launch control to work… drive the car till temperature, put car in sport plus, put gearbox into sport, hit the traction control button once (do not hold it down to turn it off fully), floor the break, floor the gas (make sure you floor it past the kickdown point) and bam. Car and driver got 3.6 0-60 in the m240 lol…
Have you checked all the car and driver outtakes? I'm guessing not. Regarding launch control I've tried it with all new bmws. Same thing. It's all quite random
I've never even launched my '23 m240i and just getting the boost pressure built and flooring it in a straight line has shocked passengers. Car is a dream.
Launch control is not random. I have no issued with it in my 18 F32 440xi or the 22 G42 M240XI. Car just has to be properly warmed up first. On the M240 I am able to get 0 to 60 in 3.7/3.8 and just a bit ovet 4 seconds without launch contol. On a straight flat road the only thing affecting your 0 to 60 is your wheels, altitude, and your ability to take off, which comes from knowing your car.
@@TunedIntoCars it is 100% not random. I spoke to an actual BMW engineer about this. Reason it might seem random is because there are multiple factors at play. Car has to be at operating temperature which means the engine and transmission. Also it will not work if car is starting to get heat soaked. So if you did multiple launches or some spirited driving on a hot summer day, it wil not work. These are safe guards put in to prevent you from damaging the car. Just because you are not seeing the algorithm working behind the scenes does not mean it's random.
I know what you're saying and I'm very aware of that. However, when launch control cannot start, you will get a message saying that. My car doesn't do that, nor did the M2 I drove. I'm also comparing to what previous generations car used to do. I would have no problems engaging LC in my previous M2 Competition, but not in the new M240 Anyway, it's not a big deal for me, since launch control isn't something I use often, if at all
@@TunedIntoCars One more thing you have to drive about 6 miles for it to activate. Oh and if you shut the car off for a few minutes once the system is ready you have to start the process all over again.
I owned a 2016 R and a 23 m240i. My R was stage 2 for about 5 years. That said, the two cars fill two different slots. One is VWs best car the other is a GT/sports car methinks. If I had the money, id have both cars. You mentioned price, I was shopping for a 23 R but with all the markups it was over 50k. Or right around that area. So I widened my search for an S3, instead of the golf R. In most cases yhr VW was a better car. BMW popped up. The rest is history... The motor alone in that bmw sold me. The VWs 4 is rough compared to the straight 6. VW does not have the refinement.
I've already explained the issue in countless comments, which you didn't bother to read. The car simply wouldn't go into the LC procedure. It was quite random. I've owned BMWs for multiple generations and this is the first one that's acting up like this. Having said that, what's that got to do with me talking about cars on RUclips?
You need to TURN OFF TRACKTION, then put the car in sport plus mode and the transmission into Sport. then it work's 100 % of the time. If you fail to do any of these, it won't work ! and you have to press STRONGLY on the brake and floor the gaz to the floor for it to activate. me it activate 100 % of the time and I have a 2023. @@TunedIntoCars

My M440i will do it in 3.8 which is pretty good.
Never had any issues with my launch control in my M240i. It’s quite easy to use lol
Yup, the procedure is easy. Making it work consistently is not

I get it consistently done. It makes the car WAY faster in 0-100 @@TunedIntoCars
You need to do it, it's way faster with it in 0-100 .@@dreadfullyd

It is random. It works some of the time for me, all the time for you, most of the times for other and so on. It's the definition of random

M240i XDrive will hit 60 in 3.8 seconds all day long. Also, it has 500nM of torque.
Yeah, my bad on the torque numbers
GPS race timer not accurate.. get Dragy or similar.
Yeah, no s&@t. I've said that in the video. It's not science and it's a bit of fun. People seem to be taking it very seriously 🤣
The only thing I’ve appreciated in this video is your T-shirt 😂
Strange as my M240i gets there in 3.86 seconds as standard,3 times all under 4 seconds
All other reviewers has the BMW trump the Golf

So the conclusion is…don’t buy either of them ! Sad but true.
How are you reviewing cars if you cant simply activate LC. Put it in sport plus, traction off, and gear is S mode, simple
How? I get in the car, set up the camera and talk. Easy
