I have over geared my cars thinking it would be faster, but it went slower. I hope it is as simple as this. good luck with the next run.
I am thinking you are probably right. When I was filing it I was expecting more based on my buddies results..... but it seems I have pretty much got all I am going to get out of my stock motor.
I just went back and looked at my old videos... I hit 72 on 2s with that same setup but a 31t pinion..... so I guess I am over geared for sure! I need to get back out there with a 31 or 34t and try again.

What is your setup?
What is the fastest you have went with the velineon motor? And what gear was it. Trying to just break 70 at least and I have 31/76 gearing but doesn’t seem to be doing it

The video hast he gearing in it. Good luck, getting up to 80 mph isn't too hard but keep the front end down is!
I’m speculating a 31/44 setup. Or should I try a bigger pinion like you have in the video
@@trevorlowe4753 I think that could work really well for getting you past 80 mph. On thing to keep in mind, my rear tires are pretty big (101 mm in diameter) so that makes my gearing taller than smaller tires. Maybe get a 27, 31, and 34t pinion ae a 44, 46, and 48t spur gear so you can play around. You will want the taller gears for speed runs but might want the shorter ones for doing several fast runs for fun. IDK, whatever would make you happy!

It seemed faster on the last run but surprisingly it wasn’t. I like to test the stock motor limits also because my vendetta stock motor have been pushed almost 50mph over listed speeds and I slowed down on speed runs.
I kind of thought the same thing! I went back and watched it and I think it is because it was several feet closer to where I was standing.
So your motor went 50 mph faster than stock and are you saying you may have damaged it so now it is slower on speed runs?

I think you are right! I just expected more because my buddy got his Rustler to go faster.... but he is at another level when it comes to doing speed runs.

I’ve seen people over geared and the car goes slower. Might be over geared
I was thinking the same thing. The only reason I thought otherwise while I was making the video is because my buddy got his to go significantly faster (Rustler).... but I think it is maxed out. I need to double check the 88 mph was on a 31t pinion and not the 34t as I will run the 34t if I haven't done that yet. Who knows, I might get it closer to 90 mph.... worth a shot if I didn't already do it! : )
