@@RCKnockout It is for the cooling fan primarily (I read the manual), but I think the OBA, which I find rather stupid myself, taps into the same source. It's a 6 volt output from the ESC. I'll be using mine to power some LED lights I'm going to install soon on the front and rear bumper for night driving.

You will love this new upgrade the difference between the xl5 and the system you just installed is night and day. I would recommend changing out your oil light bearings that came stock for true ball bearings. It's a cheap upgrade and really makes the truck more efficient

So I have a traxxas slash 2wd like you. It has stock everything still but if I wsnted to go brushless could I buy any kind of brushless motor or does it have to be traxxas for the 2wd?
No you can basically put any system in…..not everything will bolt in place of the stock esc…..but you can always use double sided foam tape to adhere it to the chassis
I’m sure they’re way stronger than the 48p gears. I haven’t had any issues with these gears on the 2wd though. I probably won’t replace them unless I start stripping gears
if u wanna get a prett ygood brushless system combo get the goolrc its 50$ i also have the cheapest traxxas slash also ur also the one that got me into to get the slash but i would recommend the goolrc motar and esc combo

Hi Nolan, happy new year! If the wire has a jtx connection with 2 wires (black & red) it's for the fan. If it's 1 red wire (looks like from your battery connector to me) with a connector to plug into the reciever, then that would be part of the telemetry (battery voltage using link app). Plug it into your reciver & use the link app & you will see how much battery voltage you have 😊 How much has the "cheap" slash cost so far? Keep up the vids & as always Keep on bashing!

@@RCKnockout I took a second look at your video & the red wire is coming from your trx connector (not the esc). It is possible to confirm this, if you have a multimeter & connect your battery to your esc. Then put the negative probe on the black wire of the trx connector & the positive probe on the dangling red wire & you should see battery voltage (not 6V bec voltage). If I'm right lol. Or a continuity tester, 1 wire on the red of the trx connector & 1 wire on the dangling red wire. If it buzzes then it is a direct connection. I didn't want to write this essay but I just read you're other conversation. I have 2 slash, 2 x maxx an e revo and many other brand rc. I have at least 3 vxl-3s esc including the first version with the 2 pole vxl motor. None have that wire from the esc. Good luck with the build.

I need to replace my slipper clutch but now I know there is this new slipper clutch eliminator so I wont have to keep replacing the stock slipper clutch over the time on my slash in the future that's why I recomend you this item for your slash
Yeah the RTR Slash xl5 is almost identical to the VXL model aside from the motor and esc. Wheels, tires and bodies are different too I guess lol 😂. Yeah I knew the Rustler xl-5 came with Phillips. Those have brass bushings rather than bearings too, correct?

Hey I my car is running awesome but every once in a while my pinion slides off not sure why so am wondering what threadlocker should I get? Looking for one that still allows me to take the pinion off in a few weeks if I want to change the gear?

@@tannervanheuvelen1920 I didn’t actually use the stock size pinion…you should be able to just take it off with an Allen’s Key…as long as the Titan motor has the same size motor shaft as the 3500kv it will go right on…I assume they’re the same size but I’m not 100% sure

@@uzi7543 Hi, sorry to interject but a single wire can't make a circuit to a fan. The esc has a red and black wire connected to a 2 pin connector which is for a fan. The single red wire with a 3 pin connector (with 2 blank connections is for battery voltage telemetry using the Traxxas link app. The receiver already has a negative connected via the esc connection. It should to be plugged into the voltage port of the traxxas receiver if you want the function.

did this with my slash and one thing i wish i did right away is to upgrade the driveshafts, blew 3 stock ones before i bought thicker ones.
Mine held up for a little while after converting but ultimately they did end up breaking
That wire is for the telemetry expansion add on. It tells you the voltage via Bluetooth on your phone. You can also get GPS, temp , ect sensors
I gotcha. That makes a lot of sense. But would the expansion cord come on a rtr esc? Because this was pulled out of a new machine?

No you plug it in to a fan for the ESC but you have to buy a Traxxas fan
I actually already have an esc fan. This is a completely different wire that’s tapping into the red positive lead
If you have the Bluetooth stuff it goes to your EC you for the Bluetooth module for your temp and what not
