Add to that - Israeli settler attacks on Palestinian communities - is now really the best time to restart discussion surrounding the elusive two-state solution for Israel and Palestine?
    Presenter: James Bays
    Guests:
Alon Liel - Former Israeli Ambassador to South Africa.
Phyllis Bennis - Fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies

Yes I agree.... the most important thing would be not only the explicit vehement condemnation of the United States and the EU States all together, but also heavy sanctions on Israel....
This would imply a new World Order....
The State of Israel exists just like Apartheid in South Africa with connivance and turning a blind eye to successive acts of illegal occupation, persecution and arbitrary and constant arrests of Palestinians, etc. just like it was in South Africa...
Only under the financial and political protection of these States at an international level can these despotic governments survive.
Tired of words and speeches are the oppressed People all over the world...
It is important to dialogue but to take serious actions that constitute an equally serious impediment to the existence of these despotic and hegemonic governments...
Once again, thank you Aljazeera for bringing people to your panel who are worth listening to...⚖️🪔🕊️☮️ 🙏🏼

We can see that any possibility of an escape route to Jordan has been made impossible as the Palestinians are surrounded by Israeli occupation. The Palestinian map is getting smaller and smaller and have been in the open air prisons for too long. I'm not sure what the resolution is here other than sacking of Netanyahu and placing a Palestinian in the front seat of Parliament. Perhaps we can ask Russia and BRICS to intervene. Germany is the real Superpower behind these atrocities by the west along with Saudi Arabia and China. They own the US, UK, Europe and China with their global corporations. They have offices , supply chain and production facilities in Israel and China and throughout the globe. Shame on Germany, NAZIS have been reborn.
Between 1950 and 1953, US Navy, backed by west Germany, dumped Napalm bombs on Koreans, burning a third of the population alive. At the time the population was 18 million. And a third of that is....6 million in 3 yrs.
These scenes in Palestine are reminiscent of WW2, mass graves and shootings by SS officers. The brainwashing of decades of Hitler Nazis youth that are rebranded as IDF. This is how the conflicts in South Africa and Northern Ireland were resolved and this is a view that has been put forward by voices from Israel (Miko Peled) and Palestine (Ali Abuminah), as well as being echoed by Mustafa Barghouti here.

No, Two states solution is not suitable.
If there is no other possibility, it is a way but not good one.
An independent Palestine territory, governs by Palistine government is better but under some conditions :
      *****
Biden has lost his common senses.
If these billions dollars that USA has spent for weapons flowing to Israel, instead would have been spent to help Palestine, would not have been USA safer than ever?
One can draw the consequence that USA does not want its safty, USA want destruction of other countries, to have the leading role of the world, but practically USA lose, because it choose destruction of other countries, what is not supported even by its allies.
Sending weapon to israel make Israel, USA, Middle East unsafe, instead spending that money to help Palestinians makes all safer.
But one day (not very far) in the future all will accept that an independent one state Palestine must have its territory as follows or something more or less like this:
upper part of a horizontal line from Gaza to West Bank that is to say upper part of line from Mediterranean Sea lower border of Gaza to lower part of dead sea. Govern by a democratic Palestine a one state government without A, B, C parts. Northern part governs by Palistine independent government and southern part governs by Israel government.
A disarmement of both Israeli and Palestinian will grant safety of area. Both have a large police department but no army and weapons of any kind.
By this arrangement the world order will not be disturbed everytime, as until now has happened.

I believe both are one state or a two state solution is possible, but each requires huge concessions, mainly on the part of Israel due to its disregard of international law and the de facto reality Israel has created. This reality is that there is now a single state from the river to the sea, which ultimately controls all of the territory. That state is Israel and it is an apartheid state. If Israelis can suspend their victimhood mentality, and that of being a supreme chosen people (Gideon Levy/ reference), then I believe that tone state is the best solution. I fear, however, the above Israeli mindset is deeply entrenched and therefore practically two state has a greater chance.

But the most important thing would be not only the explicit vehement condemnation of the United States and the EU States all together, but also heavy sanctions on Israel....
"Words are carried away by the wind", my Grandmother often told me...
Tired of words and speeches are the oppressed People all over the world...
It is important to dialogue but to take serious actions that constitute an equally serious impediment to the existence of these despotic and hegemonic governments...

But the problem is that the resources like water and infrastructure between Israel and Palestine are so intertwined, maybe a two state solution will not bring peace. Like most of the aquifers in Israel are under the occupied territories of the west bank and gaza which Palestinians aren't even allowed to use properly. I don't think Israel is willing to give up the water supply and let the west bank become an independent state. And asking the settlers to leave the west bank is another issue. A one state confederation might be a better idea or a one state solution that can give all people equal rights regardless of ethnicity or religion.

Thank you for this very educational and in depth discussion by experts in the history and current situation of Israel, Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
Standing back a few steps to see the trees and not just the forest. I see that a two state solution is an impossible request. One state Israel has a thriving economy that has grown ever more prosperous. While the Palestinian lands have been under exteme oppression and restrictions that has impeded there progress, development and establishment of industries, infrastructure independent of Israel and has been kept economically stagnant for generations. Now Gaza has become a land of rubble and the blood of innocents that will take years to rebuild.
What justice would be in establishing a two state solution while one state has made itself rich with no interest in sharing the wealth with those they have oppressed? As the other struggles to recover from such oppression. I've seen the resilience of the Palestinian people and have no doubt in their ability to recover, but the great divide between they and Israeli citizens can't remained.
Trade, travel, work, even building restrictions imposed upon them have kept them in a state of survival for far too long and they have just been knocked down once again.
Much greater minds than mine have offered up a one state solution where all are equal citizens, free to travel, work, legal rights the same, educational and work opportunities equally applied. Yet, as I sit here in the United States and look at our history, what occured after slavery was abolished, yet jim crow laws put in their place and the struggles that are still ongoing today, with equal laws supposedly in place, ignored, by individuals, people in power with deep seated bigotry and racist ideology. I wonder if it ever could be possible that those who have murdered each other in the past, will be able to live side by side in peace in the future.
Taking aside leaders who love their high places and are completely unwilling to be replaced. The will of the people must be stronger than the years, hate and oppression that has divided them. Much much stronger. But human nature is far from divine and some people like looking down upon their neighbors, taking all that is available for themselves and not wanting to share with anyone else.
My conclusion is that only Divine intervention will bring about a lasting peace on earth and I don't think that works out terribly well for all of mankind. God will not be mocked. My understanding of the scriptures spells out terrible events occuring as the wrath of God our Creator begins pouring them out. I'm not sure how much time we have left to debate, discuss or change what I see occuring on a global scale, not just in the Middle East, but everywhere.

I never thought about one-state solution for this problem. It does sound fair considering the economic gap between Israel and Palestine. But I believe its very difficult to achieve. For example even if same work opportunities are given to everyone, Palestinians aren't skilled enough to do those works right now. One state solution is very problematic and less likely to succeed. Even if it succeed it would take many decades to bring people together. I think it comes with many risks.
If we take a two state solution with clear borders. Palestine would be very poor. But it can receive economic aid from the world. The world should help with aids because they ignored this problem for so long.
There's also another aspect to this issue. The economic gap is high between Israel and Palestine not only because of this conflict. It's also because Israelis are very hardworking and skilled. I mean it has one of the strongest economies with a very high GDP per capita. Look at other gulf countries, they're only rich because of oil. So even if Palestinians weren't oppressed, they would still economically weaker compared to Israel.

Israelis are by contrast subsidized by 98% gentile tax dollars from us in the US, money that is returned to the armaments industry here as paymebt for weaponry to use against Palestinians. Even Hamas agreed to it.
Barak's negotiating team flatly refused to remove the illegal settlements and checkpoints within the 1967 borders.
