- Conquer long distances and challenging offroad terrain with equal composure. Perfect for your next Australian adventure.
The Husqvarna Motorcycles 701 Enduro LR has recently been launched with a strong marketing message tailored specifically to suit Australian riders.
However what is a marketing slogan other than just words? We decided to put this message to the test and sent two riders on a four-day long range adventure to experience first-hand how the 701 Enduro LR stands up in Australian conditions.

As an avid rider of the KTM690 which was converted to longer range adventure machine using the raiiy raid aux tank...I applaud Husky for finally making a long range version of the single cylinder platform. For those that really want to adventure...these are the only way to go if you want to go by yourself. All the twins are just too heavy
Should try the Tenere! I am really amazed of its off-road performance.... felt a tiny bit like my KTM exc haha just a tiny bit
I thought the same then I found out they already discontinued it within one year. Yeah, thanks Husky. I'm not sure why since they still make the 701. They just had to make a few extra fuel tanks for the customers who wanted the LR. No doubt to push people into buying the parallel twins they developed now.
@@matthewhayes7765 you are probably right on there...marketing is about selling the dream of adventure, not the reality of digging your 200kg whale out of hole :-D
just another random endorsement of that LC4 single...I finally decided to do the top end of my original 2008 after it started to blow some oil into the airbox after 83000kms, and it's amazing that the bore had absolutely no wear and still completely round, the piston had only worn 1 thou and it was only the rings that had worn. Incredible
Single's rules
Nice movie.. I have a LR in sweden and love it. 28 years ago I went to Australia and I was riding from Perth to Sydney on a Honda XL, should be nice to do that trip again..
It's good to see old dudes like myself still riding. I get allot of shit from people over it.
They’re probably jealous you’re living your life while they sit around bored.
Just when i thought of buying a new Suzuki DR650, fitting 25l Safari tank , fitting Rotopax rear fuel tanks, and getting the suspension upgraded,, and thinking that would be the perfect longe-range thumper.... in lands the unicorn Husky 701 Enduro LR ..with all the mods, traction controls/ABS ...a.n.d switchable fuel tanks. Take my money now !! :) :)
It's good to see a couple of old mates, that have still got it on off-road riding, total Husqvarna backed of course!! I can't wait for the Norden 901 to come to market, that would suit me.
Just nice Love 701 LR
This could be the unicorn.
Such a great looking bike. Would love to give one of these a go one day.
Great video. 701 an excellent dual purpose bike.
Very good video with spectacular scenery, very good riders and excellent filming and photography
Brilliant video, lovely Aussie scenery, great looking Husky bikes & kit and your laughs crossing the river made we want to get off the computer and go ride right now....good times lads. Cheers!
Felt exactly the same, sold my XR650R a week ago there's no where to ride it how I would like to without intervention of a police helicopter. My sis lives in Perth Australia if I was younger I would be there, great video looks like a great bike. 🤙🏴
Well done Husqvarna, with the 701 LR, decent fuel range....hard to find on a new ADV bike, here is a hint lads.....get an electric heated vest when riding in winter. Great video footage of my area in Bredbo...I did not know Sprocket had a first name....Perhaps the suspension was shorter to suit ADV riding where the riding is not agressive than enduro, and perhaps they are also aiming at shorter riders?
dunno what all the fuss is about this new 790 when the 690 and the 701 seem like they are the perfect ADV bike: a dirt bike that is comfortable on the road. light and powerful.
btw husqvarna. rigid panniers are on the way out
790 can can do nearly everything dirt and street touring. 701 can do dirt faster and more confidently. 790 passenger and luggage capable. I don’t think 701 even has rear foot pegs. Good to finally have dual sport options
excellent video, thanks guys.
I wish I could find these in the US. Perfect unicorn
Great video and especially a great bike. As soon as I find a dealer in the Czech Republic, I buy it. I tried the KTM690 enduro r - great but missing the LR. So no BMW or Yamaha but 701 in the LR version, I'm really looking forward to it! I wish you good health and the wheels are always down :)
Perfection 🎉
this is a great bike, i hope so, that i can ride this in 2021 on the trans America trail
I rode the TAT in 2017 solo on my 690. (posted on Adventure rider) and it was the perfect machine. Big enough to carry gear, light enough to pick up in the snow (yup), it did all...
Would love to see these available in Canada!
there here already
Put a screen/nav tower on it and it's a modern KTM 640 Adventure.
Yes absolutely finally
Mr Pinterbar, your next bike perhaps? Nice vid. Lots of familiar country for a bloke that grew up on the Monaro. The 701 looks like a great bike.
Looks like a blast. Love the 701.
What setting do you use for this ride?
And tyres pressure?
Thanks for the vid and regards from Spain.
6:10 😂 that's the part of the adventure!
Enjoyed the video thanks guys. Cold? The Husky jackets not up to it? If your gear is as it should be, you shouldnt be cold.
Talking Bathurst and showing Orange was cheeky. Great vid, but how did you get from Orange to Murrumbateman? All dirt?
I love my 701
Love to have the extra fuel capacity on my 690 but can’t help but wonder what would happen to the front tank in the case of a crash off-road and on.
Are you going to sell it in the USA?. If not why, if yes when?
Oh yeah, I got mine in Phoenix. 2020 701LR. Love it, pretty well goes everywhere my fe450 goes!
hello, I have always been an admirer of Husqvarna, I love it (I made my personal minigp 250 Husqvarna)
My dream bike
I have been a loyal customer of ktm/husky for many years. However, the direction your company has taken in recent years has left me disenchanted. All this cavalry of technology and gadgets is a dealbreaker for me. We are an important part of your clientele I believe, who are amateur mechanics and who work on our bikes ourselves. We are the real adventurers who go deep into the backwoods. We need simple and reliable mechanics that we can repair in our garage or deep in the woods. That doesn't mean producing boring motorcycles. It just means that we are a large and disappointed part of your customer base that would like to have raw, beastly, simple to repair motorcycles like you used to do. We don't give a damn about riding modes and TFT screens and connectivity with our iPhones.
The T7 will probably be my next bike next summer. It's the only bike that offers what I'm looking for on the market today. It's a shame, it will never be as exciting to ride as a KTM/Husqvarna...
Anyway, I'm not hating or trolling. I just think that if you never have feedback from us you will never know we are out there...
If you think the t7 is less complicated your in for a unpleasant surprise. It sounds like you want a klr or dr platform machine.
Colter Hikel the t7 is a move in the opposite direction.
@@alejandro1904 Well, i'm not saying this is the only good answer, but I think I would take a DRZ400E and modify it with a safari tank and all the bells and whistles. A DR650 could be a great candidate too, although a bit heavier. Some would argue that the KLR is the absolute choice, and it is always an option, although not my favorite of the bunch.
It's important to keep in mind that none of those bikes will be near as exciting to ride as the ktm/husky (I have 3 KTMs in the garage). But for «Light, reliable and with longer service intervals as a priority. A bike that could get me in and out with no big issues.» those would be my personal options. I think you should check those two videos:

So this is basically my KTM 620 Adventure, but new... Looks nice, but I would really like a rally type wind shield like the KTM 620 Adventure or T700.
I was about to comment, " so this is my 640 adventure, but Modern"
I totally agree, if you're marketing as a ADV bike, it should have a cowl with screen, and crash bars from factory on the high spec model.
@@xlthumper nice! Keep it, and love it. Great bikes. Only the T700 makes me consider buying a new bike.
@@mal-wx6tu Absolutely...
If it is about the look of the T7 ? You can get a rally-window and led-lamp for 701 and 690 too. The balance between weight and power is much better than the T7 offers. Kindly Fiete
Two words for you gentlemen:
Heated Grips.
Anywhere in the world where the temperature can drop below 10 deg celsius, bikes should come standard with heated grips.
All cars get heaters, why not bikes? Every bike I have owned for at least 15 years all had them, no matter how big or what kind of bike.
That first trail through all the burnt out forest looked spectacular. I could have just ridden up and down that all day.
Alas, a 701 - in whatever form would be too much bike for limited off-road skills. I would likely just hit something sooner, and harder.
A more street oriented version, or maybe a retro style Scrambler ( like the prototype we saw about 10 years ago, with that red tank and a big round headlight ), would be something could see trading my VStrom for.
Great video. Thanks.
Hope there are some aftermarket crash bars available to protect that front tank. I’d want them on, that’s for sure.
You cannot see, but the side walls of the front tank are 20 mm thick...
Why is the front tank so bulky when it only holds 13 litres? It looks like it could hold the whole 25.
Because the plastic is really thick. My KTM Adventure tank might be 20mm thick plastic. You can see through it if the sun is shining from behind, and you can just see the gasoline sitting in it. It surprised me to see the thickness of the walls...
i think the air-box is under the front-tank
Vielen dank
Part of it are the shrouds for the radiator / coolant tank.
mal62 I don’t think so.
So nice time for you...
Not the biggest fan of those semi hard panniers in predominantly off road riding but it looks pretty good.
Better than weight on your back!! Did you not see the distance/time traveled? Nice to have clean clothes to sleep in every night!!
When is husky going to put on ride weekends like KTM?
They should make 701 Norden based on 701 Enduro LR (~160kg).
What's the curb weight and the seat height?
I can’t believe this bike is deleted already. Such an ideal bike for harder long range adv riding. A real shame.
You can get the LR kit for a standard 701
What is behind the decision to no longer make the LR???
perché hanno messo la moto nella gelateria?
No road is closed to weather on a trail bike.
Why did Husqvarna reduce the suspension by an inch (25mm)? ‘Long range’ but short suspension.
It's to help make it more stable for the onroad use, the bike has to do too.
mal62 - if people want a road oriented bike, they can purchase the Orange cousin.
No longer cousins - they are now almost twins.

@@sivvinod3187 - yet in the advert they say to order 2021 model early.
@@orlandoberry4031 wait I did some research and it was the duke 690 that was discontinued. The smcr does look quite a bit lower quality than the 701 though.
That was just awesome
Wonder what they’ll rename that track.
I wonder what the service intervals are
For oil changes Husky recommends 6000 miles after the 600 mile break in. Lots of guys are posting they are pulling theirs into 2500 or 3000 miles though. I’m pulling mine into 3000 miles (~ 5000 km, thanks to Roxie for catching my conversion error) as well. Just seems better to me to spend a bit more to keep the oil clean without going too over the top.
@@hwobstj 3000 miles is more like 5000km, not 1800 hahaha
@@Toxie_Motor good catch. Silly me 🤣
Trail looks easy. Not sure why they say “this bike can bring you go places other adv bike cant”
The available of T7 and 790Adv basically put this bike into discontinuing production.
Yeah. I see no sense in buying this LR after the T700 has come to the market.
Realistically the Husky can go easily where the T700 would be a bear to handle (rocky jeep trails, single track, loose hill climbs etc). It's basically a big dirt bike where the T7 is a adventure bike.
@@classiarius That and more

Very nice Husky, the colors are tempting theft tho.
Quuero ver video de puros paisajes bellos rodando con las motos. No gente ablando un monton de torpezas. Pon el audio original con el sonido de las motos
Das beste Motorrad überhaupt, und ich kann se nicht kaufen weil se zu teuer ist😭
0:02 Ah, so that's how it's pronounced, "Hooshkvana"

America doesn’t get the LR 😐
690 with Rade Garage tank it is...😎
yes, we will. In November :)

I know I heard last week, pumped!
Those are single fall panniers.
Going on the big ride with two hipster looking tiny softbags? And I guess a truck full of equipment and catering is following 🤭😉
Those panniers are small.
Nice bike, however the luggage doesn't look very appealing, Plenty of top end soft luggage to choose from. Also no proper hand guards in an up spec brand? Have to look through the marketing hype. Certainly capable bikes that can do it all from an adventure standpoint.
The only thing I dislike about these video's is having to keep a separate tab open to convert litres and kilo;s over to gallons and miles. Other than that great video and an interesting bike.
Proven by Nugget.
Hope they didnt put the plastic frame on it. If u fall over u may have a busted frame
So you carry all that weight around so you can stop at fuel stations and not fill up? "Adventure"! If you really do go that far out you need a bigger bike to haul your gear anyway.
Don't need a bigger bike at all. I've lived off my 701 for a month of camping and 6,000 miles. Just depends on how much crap you think you need. The extra gas up front just means you don't have to carry it on the back and make the bike even more tail heavy when loaded. This would be way better balanced
Is not and ADV bike and is not a pure enduro bike. The LR has no sense for me...
So, you copying London Poskit idea and don't even endorse him. Shame on you.
And by the way he does a better job promoting your bikes when he is talking sheet about them than you do with this video.
Black Fellows aye? That's on the list. Looked awesome.
“Blackfellows Hand Trail”.
Also do Capertee to Bathurst via Turon Gate when you come off Black Fellows.
@@s.crambling3795 Thanks.
@@adventuristtv Yeah, the next video I watched was Shadow75 on the same tracks, and realised I got the name wrong.
Thanks.
