- COOPH teams up with Belgian Photographer Vincent Lagrange to discover more about his method and motivation behind ‘The Human Animal Project’. Vincent visited us at the COOPH studio with some furry friends, to show you how he prepares for shoots and interacts with dogs in order to capture the perfect animal portrait. Amazingly, Vincent uses only available light to create his pictures! So, if you have a pet at home you can try out his tips without the need for huge studio lighting. Share your best animal portraits with us by tagging @thecooph and #coophshoutout on Instagram!

I love this guy, humble and kind, and very patient. That's how I shoot photography, I hate rushing things, because if you do, you miss the best shots.
and i love how he considers important the respect for the animal, that's the first thing
Appreciate these photographers that actually take the time to get to know the animal before just shooting. Reason why he gets such great shots. Thanks for sharing!
World needs humans like you...VINCENT😍
I love how Vincent speaks for dogs and the sentient beings that they are. And that no means NO even though they are not human. I occasionally have clients that will start yelling sit Sit SIT and it does nothing to progress the shoot except to make the animal look nervous and fearful. After some time I realized that the owners themselves are nervous and just trying to help so now I always give the owners a little pre-shoot talk about what to expect, how there will be repetition and the dog will deserve a break when showing any signs of stress. This has helped immensely!
Thanks Veronica for the detailed feedback!
OMG, He is so sober and kind! I love the way he works around his models(Animals).
Yes!! A belgian photographer!!! Produces magnificent images!!
I love the respect you have for your subjects.
Love this video. Really enjoyed Vincent's thought process and personality. Thank you!
One of the most enjoyable videos I have seen. A true professional - passionate, expert, understanding.... and the subjects!
Well, I love the animals portrait and the macro, it's a good exercise to learn more about they and you enjoy taking every picture
Patience and kindness are the key to successful pet photography, animals can tell if you're a nice person.
I can't resist watching your videos
They are original and unique😚
I very much enjoyed the simplicity of your approach, thank you for loving these animals so much!
Everything about this video is just so right
Such a beautiful and nurturing content! Thanks a lot!
Awesome stuff, more please COOPH 👍
Emotional video. Incredible shots
That big grey, furry cat... wow.
Really lovely, thank you.
Lovely!
amazing work, Mr. Vincent
Finnaly my man ❤️🇧🇩
Very good explained. I like his calm and relaxed Way to take those amazing pics. The best pics of my cat and dog I get when they are calm and had a good day strolling playing and running around. They look satisfied
I have whippets. Loved seeing a whippet and a Leica in the same video.
Awesome video - thanks for sharing your experience
너무 멋져요
Impressive.. Really really impressive 😍
That dude at 04:15..he looks so wise. Awesome !

Awesome
Cooph Fan from kerala😘🙌
Charming video 😀
This man has the most FABULOUS head of hair.
He is having the inner of love and inborn character of speaking to animals that's VASHIKARA
Wow we are almost coming to 1M🤘
Great video
Top Drawer video.
Great lighting! I'd just love to see the aperture dropped a touch so all the face is in focus, rather than just the eyes.
An another amazing video from cooph... Smartphone photography video please 😀😀
Photography is the same whichever device you use to capture the image; from a pinhole camera to a technical camera the theory and techniques are the same. It's the person behind the camera that matters the most.
That being said, if you rely on using a smartphone you'll miss out on some very important lessons and never develop past taking poorly framed disposable snapshots. Always be on the look out for a real camera with a viewfinder - that will teach you how to truly see.
I still remember I asked my friend for his dog for a shoot in outdoor after shoot when I gave him food he accidentally beat on my arm .... After that when I was in pain he also asked for forgiveness 😍
Very nice
Hi Vincent, Your pictures are amazing. How do you make sure that the animals are properly and evenly lit when you only shooting in the natural light.
thanks
hey,
which camera did you choose?
wonderful Yoda!...natural light? not softbox from above?
Very cool. Personally I'm not a fan of that shallow DOF, but that's what's great about photography - his way isn't wrong, just different!
Same.
I know you should always keep the eyes in focus, but I don't like to have shallow DOF when shooting dogs because, for me, one of their most visually interesting parts to look at is their noses! I always make sure to keep their whole face in focus.
Just imagining what animal shots he could take with a Mamiya 645 Pro with the 80mm f1.9 and Ilford film. That's what I'm gonna do
Nice
MAybe a stupid question, but the backgrounds are all grey and in the pictures they're black. Photoshop or...???
Anyone know what camera and lens setup he is using in the video?
2:50 Yoda is that you sir ?
Is there any one at all ? Any one using lica ??
Aaaaaaaaaand subscribed.
His favorite picture,
Looks Like YoDa
Kindly post wedding photography tips, tricks🙏

A wonderful video, thank you. I love shooting birds and animals. We have 2 cats and a dog at home that I always have fun with the camera but not in a studio. Yeah, I know you have to contend with the harsh light of the sun etc but if you can get round that you can have an amazing capture. I find zoos are a great place to practice if you want something different to shoot and with a zoom lens you can get in real close to fill the frame with their beautiful faces. Thanks again. Tony, from London.
Beerus The Destroyer clearly isn’t happy. 00:54
0:53 Animals and aliens...
"The Human Animal Project" Oh yeah, I saw the new Cat's trailer too
What camera is that ?!!!
Dear COOPH.! I am eagerly waiting for your RUclips Golden Play Button Unboxing and review. I hope you will reach 1M+++++ Subscribers soon. Mark my words... Thank you
I made the mistake it using flash in the beginning of photographing my pets and then anytime they saw my being out my phone or camera they'd stop the cute thing they're doing and run off. I think they've mostly forgotten that mistake and I've gotten some nice photos and even video.
Which camera is he using?
Leica M10 and Leica SL
I also started a project with portraits of dogs on the street.
First I talk to the owners for a while and then ask them to take a picture of the dog. You can find the results on my instagram account
geertsaenen
And I happen to be a Belgian too!
"I know when I have my picture"
Don't be fooled, it's a subtle Leica ad.
Are You from Germany?
I have any birds
Camera???
Josy navs
Leica M10
O:54 = Beerus
Lovely, just ignore the very last section about the gear, and the not shooting on burst. All those are personal preferance/ a tiny bit ego. Other than that nice solid video :)
Maan...He is using Leica camera
Главный секрет успешного портрета с животными, они естественно ведут себя в кадре, и не говорят тебе, как нужно их фотографировать
He has watched John Wick. I can tell.
i want a leica camera :(
Thank you very much for the tips. I make cow portraits. And want to specialize in that. My problem is that my photos are boring and don't tell a story. Instagram cowportraits.
I don't have a studio and I'm not an animal photographer but I went to shoot a 3 days old puppies . There I got this picture : instagram.com/p/BUuEKmrgYLc/
🤔🤔🤔....
the first pic is bizzare from a pro tog. shouldnt you go for f10 f9 sort of range to get the nose in focus as well as the eyes. as your missing out the character bit of the smile and bottom teeth
ge zijt dik geworden Vincent! 😂

My car would just walk off. No matter what I try. Damn thing has an attitude...
Have you tried putting on the emergency brakes?
"Not studio" but then shows him shooting in a studio?. I would say the best way to shoot pet photography more so with dogs, is to photograph their character. But hey, that's just me.
