    This was not how I expected my summer to begin... Right when I thought things were going well for the car, it threw me a curveball. But these are the kind of risks you take when modifying a car this heavily - especially if you do the work yourself. Hopefully I'll get to drive it for at least a little bit this summer. I won't keep my hopes up though.

    Personally I'm happy you like to be unique. The car is beautiful and you've done good work to it so far. As Mike Finnegan once said, "Even though it's broken,I'm happy with it. It just doesn't love me yet". Keep your head up, you'll get there. And you'll have a lot more to show for it at the end than just buying an S4. You'll have a lot more work and heart into something you can be proud you built. Good luck!

    Absolutely love this channel, every single one of your videos has always been QUALITY > QUANTITY. Little things such as the voice-over in the intro with the cinematics are what keeps your videos so interesting. Love the A4 build and I hope that it can hopefully be fixed and back on the road again doing pulls! Also, keep up the great work with the car meet videos! Praying for the best!

      Self-directed pablum. Cinematically rich with a paper thin book (script). The Internet is full of people who think the mundane is special. The car project is great, the constant angst and hand wringing and the per usual "watch as I do this, as I do that" - stuff that previous generations just did and did not look for thousands of eyeballs and group approval is the standout feature here, again, duplicated in the millions by this self absorbed generation. BORING af...if you ask me.

    STORY TIME!! The money I spent on modding my old Honda could have bought me a pretty sweet 600RR. The money i spent on modding my old 1/2ton Ford could have bought me a pretty rad SuperDuty. The money I spent modding my Jeep Cherokee could have bought me a the coolest Wrangler in the state. The money I've spent modding this Jetta of mine could have bought me the Audi of my dreams. Guess what. The money I'm going to spend modding my next ride could be going towards the better/faster/cooler option but then that just wouldn't be fun.
    Never let setbacks discourage you from modding anything. Everything you do is a lesson learned and an improvement on yourself. Keep up the great work!

    I just watched this and then went outside to stare at my 2010 A4 Avant with all the bells and whistles and..... a P0299 underboost code, white smoke at 50% thottle and insane oil consumption. I know it's the bad rings from the original motor recall that Audi lost a lot of money on. I know the solution to the P0299. I also know that I'm thinking about a full engine build for a Tiptronic 6 speed automatic station wagon.... *sigh -- Good luck man!

    I built mine with 83mm JE pistons with 700hp rated rods. I also put in Ferrara valves and had my crank polished. The only difference is I have water/meth injection. I'm running a CTS K04 turbo. I wanna go with a big turbo next. So I will be selling my turbo to help pay for the difference of the bigger CTS turbo. Mine is a 09 dark blue. It looks similar to yours.

    After watching the series of you building the car and wishing I had the same internals as you then my car blowing up and me rebuilding the motor was a wish I never asked for. Before my motor blew up I almost sold my car and bought a Lexus ls400, now after the rebuild I wish I did. I currently don’t have any major problems knock on wood but these cars are nothing more than daily drivers. I just need to treat my car like one. This is all too familiar to me. You will figure it out. Your a smart dude. You’ve done this before. You’ll get it fixed. These motors aren’t too complicated/complex. Good luck man!

    Just get oversized rings and grind them down.. you're making it very hard they don't have to be made by that specific company. What size are Pistons I got an 83 mm bored block that came with my car when I bought it last summer. It's literally sitting in my garage wrapped up in a tarp. I can send you pictures if you'd like.

    I'm the same way! I went and purchased a 2014 A4 because I wanted the 4 cylinder (for my wife) but I drive a 01 A4. I think it's fun to make decent power with a small engines. It's never stupid to modify a car! It does suck with the issues you've had but this wouldn't have been an issue if IE didn't screw you, and I know it's not really thier fault but...

    Yuuuuup getting anything even car parts is tougher right now. I ordered a DSG service kit from DAP knowing VAG makes a DQ250 and DQ500. I didn't take into account a different filter size between those two transmissions. Service kit came with the smaller filter and I was in a hurry when I ordered it not looking at the vehicle compatibility. Got the kit and did the service finding out that I needed a different trans filter. Left the old one in for a short period of time and tried to source the right one online. I looked through about eight different online vendors. They had kits ($180 for the kit with the right filter) but did not have the individual filter itself in stock, except ECS and they were a week from getting it to them. Decided to bite the bullet and call Zimbrick, luckily they had it and I did the swap in my driveway.

    4:18 That code gives me fucking PTSD. One morning I woke up, turned my car on, started up and sounded like it was running on 2 cyls and then died. Chain tensioner gave up the ghost causing the chain to lose all its tension, skip time and bang every single valve. Needed a rebuild. That was 10,000kms ago, car is now on 205k kms and is running great except for permanent DSG fuckery but it is what it is.

    • @FlinkFilms
      @FlinkFilms  Год назад

      It’s most likely your piston rings. It was a very big and very common issue with B8s due to the factory pistons being designed poorly. Lots of documentation of it on the web. Some people have been able to get Audi to cover the repair, but nowadays it’s pretty unlikely. You can start by replacing the pcv, but I wouldn’t get your hopes too high. You’re probably going to need to replace/rebuild your engine with new pistons and rings very soon.

    Watching this after my IE ($20K) spec race motor only lasted 3000 miles. I want to stop you now. These 2.slow engines are honestly Audi’s worst decision ever. Sorry for your loss. But it’s time to sell all the 2.0 stuff and swap in a 2.5.

    Dont feel bad on the wait. I ordered a custom set from JE for an american engine and it's a 5 to 6 week wait as of 3 weeks ago. Only a few more weeks and half the summer over and my streetrace motor will be built.....
