Every Metal subgenre explained with guitar riffs. Since the last one did so well, I figured a follow up was needed.

So what is your favorite Metal subgenre? And your favorite bands from said style. Also, what styles did I miss this time?
Watch PART 1 here: ruclips.net/video/xRwTeFV5pgc/видео.html
djent
Melodic metalcore
Surprised there was no goregrind.
melodic hardcore
power metal
Im beginning to suspect that half of these subgenres are musicians just fucking with us.
Maybe
half? about 90% is more on the spot, nowadays you need a goddamn phd to know all of metal's subgenres... or do like I do, just turn the "fuck it, I like the music" on and enjoy
@@PepecoHubhow do you find something you like?
There are actual honest-to-god genres that are exclusively about fucking with the listener/audience/people.
HE'S ON TO US! QUICK; GET THE BARRELS!! GET THE BARRELS!!!!
Legends say he's still playing that Drone Metal riff.
If you listen very closely when you pause the video, you can still hear the same note playing to this day
As someone who listens to so many music genres that my brain would actually rot if I tried to learn the fine details of every single subgenre; I really appreciate you adding band examples in this one!!
It is helpful to hear something I like or an element that I recognize from liking something similar to it in the past and have examples I can look into right there on the screen! ❤
Glad I was of help :)
It's still kind of based off of people's genre votes and its reliability depends heavy on how many people are voting, but Rate your music is pretty good for getting a general idea.
Adding the bands for the different genres was a really nice touch.
Not the Golden Freddy Pose for Drone Metal 💀💀💀

Metal seems to be your preference/speciality, but since no one that I've seen has done videos quite like this, I'd love to see “Every Rock Subgenre EXPLAINED” in the future.
Oh man, that’s a BIG task… Not that I’m not up for the challenge tho…
That would be awesome
Technically, all metal genres are rock lel
If you manage to do a Part 3, you’ll have to bring back Drone Metal for the meme
he's gonna need more than just a part 3
That face for aliencore lmfao
So happy to see your videos blowing up, man. Well deserved!
Thank you so much man!
My favorite Gothic Metal album is Castlevania's soundtrack.
Based
Motherfucking classics like: Aquarius, The Tragic Prince, Bloody Tears, Curse Zone, Door to the Abyss, Death Ballad, and Festival of Servants
That DBSM tho 💀. Unexpected but hilarious
Nike hat for the beat down section was the icing on the cake.
I've never even heard the term Beatdown, but apparently I like it and write it.
thank you for introducing me to mugshot, finally a rather obscure band that i actually LOVED
Sick pfp

Nu Netalcore? Well, you gotta be sh*tting me!!
He is missing A LOT more on both of his lists. Both of his rift videos would be possibly 100 hours long if he was able to cover EVERY SINGLE metal genre there is in existence throughout the world.
Mad props for mentioning Sikth. They are so underrated and their album The Trees Are All Dead and Dried Up...Wait For Something Wild might be my favorite djent album of all time. That album is just so incredible
Yes, but why does their entire album title have to pretty much be a small sentence?
I always considered Sikth Avant-Garde. I never even considered Djent as a possibility.
VERSAILLES MENTIONED!!! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
It’s really hard to point down what my favorite Versailles song is. I love Second Fear, Philia, Chandelier, Princess, The Red Carpet Day, Faith & Decision, Libido (very underrated one).
@@jojoplaysmusic princess and libido are really good ones! i also love ayakashi and catharsis, which are also quite a bit underrated. i might sound biased but honestly versailles has been very consistent with their sound all this time, it's hard for me to find something bad from them.
@@rinneamagayayakashi is my fav one!
The faces you make for the different genres is HILARIOUS!
Like the addition of showing bands from said genre that’s very cool
As a long time doom metal fan seeing all these bands and genres getting shouted out feels really cool
Fellow dissonant death métal enjoyer, i see you're a man of culture aswell
;)
Holy sh@£$*t, you've covered subgenres that I didn't even know existed! And I've been listening to metal for a long time!! Well done, dude!
Man I let out an audible "HELL YEA BROTHER!" when I saw you shout out Kublai KahnTX. From Texas with love! Them boys out of Sherman know how to do it.
Monkey see monkey do 😤
Gigachad Jojo goes crazy
I really appreciate the band names you added.
Thanks!
Thank YOU So Much
Thanks for helping me find my genre! I'm relatively new to metal. Really appreciate including bands too!
It was great that you added bands on this one!
Loved this! I would love a punk version of this series if possible!
That would be really great, but it seems he is into metal more.
@@DecimusYnaThere are some punk sub-genres that sound like metal but they're really good (powerviolence, hardcore, beatdown, grindcore)
@@Trollolololol69 Wait, I didn't know hardcore is categorized as punk! And I didn't know about powerviolence and beatdown. Thank you for letting me know. :D
@@DecimusYna For beat down also check out sunami one of the most popular beatdown bands. Also if you see a video adressing hardcore as a genre with low fretted, slammy riffs then it's wrong. Hardcore has darker punk chord proggressions and is more aggressive and violent.
@@seal6997 Thank you for the tips! I will check them later. >:)
Bro is gonna still gonna be doing this series 5 years from now, its mental how all metal subgenres have sub genres themselves 🤣 Metal is the most diverse genre, its why I love it 🤘🏻🐷🔨
No. Metal just has a "must be special" syndrome. A bazillion pop artists, who sound just as different, if not more, then each metal genre, are happy to just play "pop". But as soon as there are more than 3-5 bands in a given metal genre it's time to invent a new one.
Cool you mentioned Nu-Metalcore and Nu-Deathcore, but in the next part you should also mention Ambient Djentcore / Atmospheric Djentcore / Melodic Djentcore they are really cool too (for example: Northlane, Surroundings, In Hearts Wake, Prospektive, Bury the Kings)
The “genre inflation” is specific to metal music and I suspect that is connected to the primary audience of this type of music. For instance, in most other genres, what tunings is used, what techniques are used, the modes, the keys, the time signatures etc. do not define a specific subgenre by themselves among listeners of those genres. I often find that the opposite problem exists (not enough categorization). Yet in metal, metal heads go through great lengths to subdivide every minute difference into a separate genre. I don’t think it’s an accident. I think it’s some characteristic of the humans which makes them get into metal in the first place. I would propose things like: high attention to detail, some kind obsessive/compulsive nature, etc.
There is actually a completely different reason, namely the artists. Metal and rock has the biggest amount of underground/independent artists and different music scenes... maybe ever. The reason "genre inflation" happens is because they all want to differentiate in one way or another.
Example: Doom metal, Stoner Doom, Funeral Doom, Epic Doom. It all, ultimately, comes from "We want to sound like Black Sabbath" But there are THOUSANDS of bands who sounds like Blacks Sabbath, because Black Sabbath is awesome. So, let's specify. We want to sound like Black Sabbath but more fuzzy and 70s. Stoner Doom. We want to sound like Black Sabbath but more dark fantasy and orchestral. Epic Doom. And then these create their own scenes with their own groups. And because metal is an Alternative subculture, the scenes rarely become a global thing (unlike with pop for example, where the bare minimum for being an artist is being famous). Basically, if there's a city, and people in the city listen to metal, that city will have their own subgenre
In summary, more brain use hahaha (just for joke purposes, no offence was intended 😂)
@@andordimeny6130personally, I believe there is also another variable at play as alongside with what you mentioned, that is, there is a lot of genres of music out there, and for a good portion of them, there is a metal version of it, like folk, and folk metal, melodic, melodic metal, etc. So it might also contribute with the immense variety of classifications for metal genres and subgenres.
It's because metal and everything under that umbrella has always been the home of complete nerds, /pos
I did't knew beatdown was a thing, I already like the bands so this really lights the way. Amazing work!
Both of these videos you did were fun to watch & came out great imo, i love how in part2 your descriptions were more articulate, especially funk metal when you admitted you suck at😂 i super glad I found your channel & these videos! Keep on rocking
Also love the Nocturnus shirt, I saw them years ago & the drummer had the biggest longest bass drum I've ever seen
Banger video! Riffs are even chunkier than last time!
Much appreciation for mentioning Versailles! Killer skills!🤘
HELL YEAH, NU METALCORE AND NU DEATHCORE!! FUCK YEAH!!
Still curious to see your take on Alternative Metal and Rap Metal.
_Part 3 is needed._
Post-metal too
alternative Metal: Linkin Park
Rap Metal: RATM.
@@Rusli1659LPSoldierLinkin Park is Nu Metal, i think Helmet or Faith No More would match Alt Metal the best.

Versailles Mentioned!
Im going to see them in a few weeks
Yoooooo let’s go
im so sad you didnt have middle eastern blackened sandy sludgecore hardmath polydjent grinddoom
Great job on the band references
Rock On lil bro 💯
That Nocturnus shirt is dope as fuck! Love it!
Beatdown was my fav out of all the riffs. Great job!
You made me realize that I probably like every genre of metal MUSIC, it's just the growling that keeps me away from certain genres. Well, ignoring drone.
Thats fair.
I would have added "100% Totally not sped up" for Aliencore.
Definitely a miss for me there 😤
sped up or not it still slaps (not live tho)
Even though early Katatonia is mostly death/doom, the debut album has those anguished "blackened" screaming vocals that Jonas Renske performed (which really messed up his vocal chords back then). Plus, there's that one song which has that black metal lyrical feel to it.
I love your humor kid
I don't know if it counts as it's own genre, but i'd love to see your take on the Abyssal/Tchornobog/Impetuous Ritual brand of dissonant death metal that sounds like it's being played in a vast cavern 😂
My favorite death metal style aside from the classic stuff. Tchornobog in particular is so great.
Awesome Nocturnus shirt, btw!
Love how the beatdown part had the mandatory cap!
Like you said, it’s mandatory.
Dropped a like for the riffs. Subscribed for the Nocturnus shirt.
You should add one for Indian Folk Metal, example: Bloodywood
5 days for part 1? Bro you serious? That’s hella fast!
I live fast 👁️👁️
You missed Post-metal :(
Killer as always! Bonus thumbs up for facial performance.
Also pls do more Dooooooom Metal!
Thanks for including example bands 👍
Again, awesome video!!
Damn, second video is just as good as the first, riffs still so on point, man you are killing it. Also nice addition that you added some band examples....still no vocals though :(
Anyways. Im pretty surprised you didnt show goregrind or alt metal, those two are probably the biggest subgenres not shown yet....part 3 👀? Also you could add mincecore or blackened deathdoom - like what Dragged Into Sunlight makes, id love to see your take on it. Or some of the goofier subgenres like anime slam or pirate metal, though honestly it would probably be worth it to make part 3 for the sole purpose of continuing the drone metal gag lmao.
Thank u for clarifying these mind-boggling differences!
It is nice you included example bands this time
Bro i can't believe you missed cybernetic pirate melodic symphonic blackened medieval death metal
Drone Metal was my favorite because i unironically enjoy it sometimes and that was a perfect representation
OK this video is 100000 times better than the first part. Actually a perfect 10/10 because of the humor
I also see that you use an Odin II...I use that as well. Best guitar I ever owned was that VST.
OK, I saw symphonic metal... nice. Next tips for part 3 (maybe?):
Pub-rock / Agrometal (Kabát, Harlej, Alkehol)
Pirate metal (Alestorm)
True metal (Manowar)
Finally someone actually mentions Candlemass, I love them
Educational and hilarious af,well done
You have definetely and without a doubt played the Aliencore part 👽🎸😉😂
The Drone part is very accurate 😆

Drone is kinda fun tbh, nice video. Autopsy are amazing, just having a singing dm drummer rocks, nice addition.
+1 for the example bands. Any chance you could do that for the first part?
-1 for no Argent Metal.
Seriously, these were both awesome and you are very talented. Keep it up.
that blackened doom riff was fuckin WONDERFUL
Thank you for this video
Hell yeah make a part 3
I'm a big rings of saturn fan and you pretty much nailed it lmao
Good call including band names for examples
you nailed the drone and dsbm
When he doesn’t even mention piratical renaissance flintlock metal 🙄
Awesome work bro, LAWL at the Rings of Saturn rip ahahah.
Bro that riff from nu deathcore to beatdown is fucking crazy together
Thanks I really appreciate that :)
I'm glad I came to part to before commenting Symphonic. Gotta get some Nightwish love
jajajajjaajaj me encanta que no te tomas a vos mismo demasiado seriamente ni tampoco a todos los subgeneros del metal, por eso haces esos chistes. Bien por vos y muy buena secuela
“Do not site the dark magic to me, witch, I was there when it was written.” ….that Lion dude from the book.
A few more for if you ever make a third video:
Post-Metal (Isis/Neurosis)
Progressive Death (BTBAM/Opeth/An Abstract Illusion)
Progressive Black (Borknagar/Enslaved)
Post-Black/Blackgaze (Alcest/White Ward/Deafheaven)
“Black ‘n’ Roll” (Kvelertak/Tribulation)
… and I don’t know what to call it, but the fusion of Post/Sludge/and Prog that bands like The Ocean, Intronaut, DVNE play.
Perfect! Just finished part one thinking where's Neoclassical? As a Cacophony/Becker fan I was looking for it
Ayy, you included Deathgrind, and a lot of other great stuff! Lovely vid mate!
Thank you for adding Bands, for drone metal Boris is the best one
Whalecore!
-Prog Metal but sludgier
-Whales in lyrics and/or artwork
Bands: Mastodon, Gojira
you are a beast of a guitarist!!
Kind of instructive. Congrats!
Are there really people who listen to this "drone metal"?
Apparently
Sunn O))) is quite nice
Thanks for the excellent recommendations, namely the ones for Aliencore.
If you ever make part 3, could you include Post-Black-Metal / Blackgaze (Bands like Alcest, Harakiri for the Sky, Karg etc.)? Thanks :D
Ty for mentioning primus
I love Sunn O))). You forgot IGORRR's Baroquecore subgenre.
1:49 yoooo worm shepherd mentioned
That drone metal had me rolling😂 sent it to my buddy who thinks its the futurexD
You labeling Periphery as Djent was so funny considering that their newest album is titled, "Djent is Not a Genre" XD. I'm kinda new to listening to them, and i certainly have noticed the djent sound but i more consider them just Prog cuz of the major variety (especially in the new album). They have quickly become my most played band as of recent.
Yeah their early stuff definitely fits that more.
