Thanks for one of the most varied yet succinct explorations into this versatile pedal. You eliminate the "fear factor" of a fairly complex pedal and it's capabilities. Your playing and imagination shine throughout. Where can I listen to your music!?! You've got me salivating!!
Do you use floating thumb technique with free stroke? I would love to see a vid about your technique if you haven't made one yet. It's inspiring to watch you play, Sifu. Also kn the months saving up for my H.O.G.2 I watched this video almost everyday, so thank you.
Although i'm a Bass player i have a keen interest in composition and counterpoint ( the good stuff like Bach ), i can tell by the way you use the glide function to portamento from one chord to another that you have a firm grasp of voice leading your chords ( and the type of voicings your actually using ), Good Work, Bass Master
Excellent insight into the possibilities of the hog! Also seriously impressive playing. I got a kick out of that bit of Jaco’s ‘Chromatic Fantasy’ Bach piece.. (l learned this years ago but have long since forgotten most of it.)
Hi Zackary, awesome video again. You've inspired me to get a Hog2. A quick question if you have the time. I have a Boss ES-5 and I'm wondering if I should get the foot controller for the 100 patches or do you suggest just controlling the Hog2 with my ES-5 via Midi?
fantastic review man, great playing too. these pedals seem to have so much capability too them, i was wondering what expression pedal you are using to control the swells and bends. p.s. i also own a dingwall ABZ, and love it, thanks for showing just what these basses can do
i pre-ordered one in silver :D i liked the look of tbirds but never liked gibos neck profiles, but i dont doubt that dingwall will sort it the heck out.
Hi, thanks a lot for the great demo! Question about freeze-gliss function - if the expression pedal position is held still, after freezing chord, is it possible to play other pitches dry on top, with the chord held? or will the freeze "follow" what is being played next? Thanks, hope that makes sense
thanks a lot for replying. I really appreciate it; btw as a fellow musician, yr playing is great and it's nice to see someone really dedicated to what they do. Thanks again
Can the Freeze and Gliss work in Auto mode like the Superego ?, meaning it just senses when you play and reacts ( not having to use the volume pedal to control it ) ?
Hey @@ZacharyRizer our local Electro Harmonix dealer has informed me that Electro Harmonix have stopped making Hog2's, maybe Hog3 is on the Horizon ?, also i've tried a Super Ego Plus, Killer !!!!!, very smooth.
Zachary Rizer I have an opportunity to buy the very last unit in the country in a couple of days ( and I feel I’m ready to finally jump on board but another part of me thinks if I wait just a little longer I could buy the HOG3 if they release one ), the dealer told me it was not a big seller for them so maybe there won’t be a HOG3 and the HOG2 will be an instant classic that will be sought after and sell for thousands, who can tell ?
Have you tried the Synth9 ?, I put it through its paces at the Dealers last week and was blown away, it's a 10/10 perfect pedal ( puts the other 9 pedals to shame in its tracking ! ), I threw everything i could at it, the full range of the bass and guitar, full polyphonic mayhem, most complicated jazz chords. ( Baroque contour point contrapuntal lines as well, and it nailed everything, also beautiful sound !
Man your chord progressions in this are stunning. I keep coming back to this video just to hear your playing

Hi, Zach, with your two H9s, would you take the HOG2 to a gig, or do you consider it more of s studio tool?

great demo man, convinced me to get my Hog2. Are you using the Source Audio Reflex for Expression here?

Sifu
a great review. . comprehensive . . easy to follow and some great playing into the bargain! . . . Just what I needed to see on this effect, thank you.
this video made me buy it. thanx man amazing ideas you have over here
I never knew I needed something THIS much in my life xD
Do you have this pedal?
Came in randomly at 7:36 and got decapitated by PS6 launch fanfare
Excellent insight into the possibilities of the hog! Also seriously impressive playing. I got a kick out of that bit of Jaco’s ‘Chromatic Fantasy’ Bach piece.. (l learned this years ago but have long since forgotten most of it.)
Hi Zach, great demonstration and playing. And I love the part at 11:24. Thanks!
Thanks Zach!!
Is there anyway to dictate the rate of the glissando? Is it based on your pressure on the expression pedal?
Yeah, it is all controlled by your foot.
What's the absolute lowest note this can track on a Dingwall for octave up? Like... B1? A1? Ab? G0? F0?
Thanks.

+Zachary Rizer thanks man, im definitely looking into getting own of these bad boys. have you seen the new dingwall D-bird?
i pre-ordered one in silver :D i liked the look of tbirds but never liked gibos neck profiles, but i dont doubt that dingwall will sort it the heck out.
I just got this pedal and for the life of me can’t figure out to get the expression pedal to work. Do you have any knowledge on how to set this up
Excellent info. Thanks
I used to own one. The freeze/gliss mode is the best.
This is awesome ,great video, good explanation ,surely one day I will try the hog2
Dude what chords were those at 5:00? That sounds beautiful jfc

Thanks a lot, I should've worked that out. Thinking of using this unit for Violin, hope the sub octaves are nice and fat :) thanks again
Awesome review Zach, thanks!
sorry, one more question,, can the envelope be assigned to the filter whilst the expression mode is on "filter", or otherwise? thanks a lot

hi, you have done lots of great review on the bass pedals. I wonder if you know any pedal that will give the sound of techno dance club bass sound?
Zachary Rizer nice demo on the OC-2. would the OC-3 be the same or better? will you do any demo about techno club bass sound in the future?
Can the Freeze and Gliss work in Auto mode like the Superego ?, meaning it just senses when you play and reacts ( not having to use the volume pedal to control it ) ?
Have you got a Superego as well ?, they'll have to remedy this in the HOG 3 !
If they would combine all the 9 pedal sounds in with a HOG, with programability, they'd kill Roland

Two questions: 1) Is your bass a passive bass? 2) is ABZ Dingwall 6 strings always a passive bass?
Wow.. no wonder it sounds so great with so many pedals. Thank you, I don’t know that there is 6 strings passive bass. now, I know what to look for :)
excellent
This is amazing
Best Review of this pedal, Roland are in trouble !
That lead at 4:07 sounds so much like a riff from the Trigun intro... I'm such a fucking weeb.
WOW!
