    Done with week 1! I'm loving these colors, even though my pink and red are not exactly the same. Still fantastic! Claire, this is a BRILLIANT project. Thank you so much for this CAL!

    Hi .. I just wanted to get back to you to tell you how wonderful my toilet seat lid cover came out using this pattern. My elongated seat lid had measured roughly 16 1/2 inches long by 16 inches wide ; I had trouble finding a cover to fit . I followed your pattern using one single colour through to Round 14 and then added 2 more rows of shells ( RD #7). and then used a 35 inch thin elastic and single crocheted it in the back of last row. I love it !! Thanks so much for this !! all the best to you from Canada !

    Omg! I ABSOLUTLY love it. If you are making this into a rug and want it non slip use a product called super grip. It's awesome to put on slippers and rug backing so it doesn't slide all over your floor.

    To make the blanket bigger
    So your last increase round is ....round 36 and its is - shell into the next 5 spaces inc into the next You could try following the increases and go back to round 11 and - shell into the next 6 shells, increase into the next ..... Then follow the instruction from there....havnt tried it myself but I gave this advice to another lady and she managed to get it to 70 rounds :)

    Thank you for getting back with me Clare. I listened to the tutorial again and found my mistake. I was only crocheting my increases in the big gaps. I must have paused the video before you said to increase in the "chain ones" too. I will use my "mistake" to make a beanie hat by frogging back to round 5.
    Practice makes progress lol. I hope this comment might help someone else with their crochet "bowl" rug. Hahaha < laughs at self> because there is no crying in crochet ; )

    I'm thrilled with the rainbow colors for the tutorial. They make it so easy to keep up with what round we are on, and if I mess up and have to backtrack, finding the right place in the video is easy! My rug isn't colorful like that. I'm using burgundy now and closer to the outside I will add some tan and some black.

    Granny clusters are chasing me in my sleep, lol, I just made a poncho with them using one of your videos even tho I added some different stitches, in; before that I made two granny cluster toilet lid covers; before that did your 17 square layout for an awesome handbag.... I might take a break for change and come back to this later, but I love this and need a rug, but need to buy an odd color of yarn that I don't have yet for my bedroom. I'm still following to watch for now :)

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  5 лет назад

      yes some can be a bit rough. they will soften up once washed. i have a friend that actually sometimes works with nitrile or latex gloves when she has to use scratchy acrylic. she says the yarn doesn't catch bad and she can use the scratchy yarns until washed.

  • @jandydent

    I made a modified version of this! I love how it worked out. The material I used ended up being significantly thicker than what you used. So I had to leave off several rounds, as mine had grown as large as I needed. I also slightly modified the second edging pattern you provided, as I wanted a dark edging to finish of my project.Your tips on blocking were so awesome, I've never made anything like this, so I learned a lot from you about this round pattern as well as blocking. Thanks so much! How can I send you or post a photo of my finished project?

      +Virginia Clough yes you could double it up to use a larger hook. it may not make it look very different but it will give it a different size. if you do mix the colors they will look variegated throughout the entire project

    Love this. Is there a way to add yarn or ribbon so you can lay a baby on it with toys and then pick it up by the yarn or ribbon to gather up the toys only when not in use. I guess gather and go kind of thing. Hope I am not making this too confusing.

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  6 лет назад

      hi, yes i am sure you could do that. You would just need to weave it in and out of one of the last rounds or close to the last rounds. I wouldn't make whatever you use to gather it with too thin or it could potentially be a choking hazard for babies.

  • @rustydip1
    @rustydip1 9 лет назад

    Basically a (round) granny style pattern. But I'm confused about the terms you are using. When you do the 3dc, you call that a shell. Most other shell patterns I've ever done the [3dc, ch1, 3dc] is considered a shell. I'm not sure what the 3dc alone is called. Maybe a half shell? Maybe this is just an American term difference. I don't know. Since I've been crocheting for over 40 years I know what you mean & the terms used don't really matter. I was just curious about it. I might be wrong...
    As usual, I am enjoying your video!! You are very talented, fun & clear. Happy that you decided to do a CAL with us! I know you will make it fun!! Thank you Clare...!

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  9 лет назад

      Hello rustydip1 I have only known a shell as a 3dc or 4dc or 5 dc etc....I guess we have both learnt something new today :)

    • @rustydip1
      @rustydip1 9 лет назад

      bobwilson123 Actually, thinking about it more last night, I think you are right... I was used to 4 or 5 dc to make a shell because the tops curve over, like a "shell". Now I'm not sure what the 3dc, ch1, 3dc is called. LOL! I guess with granny "squares" it's considered a 'corner shell'.
      Oh well, I've been wrong before; I remember that 1 day... ha ha ha! Just kidding.
      Still very happy with your videos & your work! Keep them coming! And as always, thank you so much for all the time & work you put into them! I love that you don't always take out the bloopers too! Thanks!

    What are the finished dimensions of this blanket? Or rug? I mean it looks good sized. Is it three or four feet across is it larger I'm not planning in any of the seven videos the full measurement when it's completed. I don't need the diameter I just need how much it is a across

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  5 лет назад

      i can't be sure off the top of my head but i know it was between 3 and 4 feet. you are able to make it as large as you like though

    Without changing color, could I just stay with one color and continue in the round?

      You could use a self-striping or variegated yarn, rather than cutting to change colors.

    So if it’s curling up I need to use a larger crochet hook or looser stitches? Thank you ☺️

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  5 лет назад +1

      depending on how far you are in the blanket and how much it is curling up you may just need to crochet a bit looser. A slight curl with most likely just block out. if it it curling a lot then either your stitches are too tight or your hook is too small. it could also be the size of your yarn and the size of your hook as well together

    Hi lovely rug! Back with question again. Im making a rectangular rug using the cobble stitch my own pattern not as beautiful as yours but proud of it anyway. I'm using red heart super I notice a lot of rugs done in cotton but it's a bit expensive I use it for placement and table runners. Do I need to put scoot guard or nonslip on my rug? Thanks you are the only person that replies to me. Your work is beautiful. Cheers!

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  7 лет назад

      hi, thank you for your question. yes you can use a skid pad under it to keep it from moving if you like. if you are in the US, you can get worsted cotton for about the same price as red heart super saver at most yarn stores

    • @jeannakelly4174
      @jeannakelly4174 7 лет назад

      Ok sounds good I'll try that thank you so much for helping and answering my questions. Your videos are very helpful and you go slow enough for the information to reach my brain. Yes i live in USA so the material i can get. It's night here so I'll go to store tomorrow. If snow stops that is

      i have a friend in the US and she said that bernat cotton comes in 1 pound balls and the lily sugar and cream cotton comes in one pound cones. she said you can find them at Joann's, Michaels, Hobby Lobby and also on the Walmart website

    I started with a 5mm hook. I feel like my tension is sloppy loose...but my last 2 rounds still want to curl upward. I even changed to a 5.5 mm after round 7 then used a 6.5mm on 9-10.....using #4 worsted weight yarn. Please tell....what should the diameter of the project be after this tutorial?
    TIA...

      Hello, my rug is 12 inches across after 10 rounds, this is after blocking and blocking does make it grow a little :)
