It’s because it’s a Starbucks in a target meant to be able to solo and honestly most target customers don’t get Starbucks. As a Starbucks employee too I’ve had one calm shift and that’s because we lost all stock due to hurricane Ian

@@tofu1639 I really wish this was my case, my target Starbucks, we usually always have a line wrapped around, most of my shifts we have a constant line for about at least two hours and just the two of us
I also work at a Target Starbucks. And yes, sadly you are alone for most of your shift, or 1 other person. 😞 But props to you for being able to film and do this at the same time. 👏👏 It’s normally so busy and chaotic that I would never ever fathom setting a camera or phone up and filming myself. Idk how you do it! 👏👏

Fast food workers in general are more skilled than people think or want to realise, bad customers will often take out the stresses of the day on customer service staff just trying to do their jobs, I know from personal experience :(

omg I’m a starbucks barista, and I literally hate doubling. my store is very much understaffed, and it literally sucks having to do everything alone like take orders, create the drinks, warm up the food, etc. but that only happens once in a while.

@@MariaMarmora oh lol, my store uses the term, "doubling" which means basically doing a "solo" shift. this happens when someone calls off, but the ss still needs to do the pull or something in the backroom. so im left do basically work a solo shift.
You should get paid more an hour if you're alone more often then nit. If not call out more often.

im a barista at a high volume store. our mornings usually have 6-8 people on the floor. After having a no call, no show, a broken espresso machine, no warming bags, no sleeves, no tall hot cups, no refreshers, only one blender, one ice dispenser, no refreshers, no peach, no dome lids, taking mobile, cafe an delivery orders all at once- this was calming, thank you

I don’t work at a Starbucks but I’m a barista at my local coffee shop and this is soo calming to watch compared to actually working. It makes me think I should try to enjoy my job more.

Our brains do say no way lol. One of my co-workers went to use a milk cap for a shaker lid the other day. Last week I brewed a Royal English tea with coffee instead of hot water.
Neither do my coworkers but that doesn’t stop them from getting the job 😂
I cannot believe I sat and watched 17 minutes of drinks being made but it was the most calming experience and I loved it
I could never be a barista. Memorizing all those drink recipes and then making them specific to the customer too sometimes. I could NEVER 😂 kudos to y’all who do!
As a partner, I thank you for doing everything standard. Its so nice seeing the shaken espressos being made in the shaker and not the cup itself.
I don’t think the lids would hold the liquid if shaken. Less mess to deal with to shake it separately.

I was just here to say that, she got all the ratios correct even when accounting for an extra shot or builds. It sucks that Target has a reputation of not having the same standards because this woman is Starbucks' dream, as an ssv working to be an sm soon I would steal her in a heart beat!
Barista here! Tip for the iced teas, I usually let a pitcher fill all the way with water while doing something else and then pour that water into the pitchers with tea so I don’t have to wait and hold it til it fills up!
She probably has nothing else to do

I love the way you edit these videos it’s so mesmerizing hahaha! I work at a self serve froyo shop and it’s really slow 99% of the time so I work alone a lot and I can’t imagine not having a ton of downtime when I’m alone! I literally get to read and do college work while clocked in! Props to you!

@@MariaMarmora if it’s an opening or mid it’s a lot of sitting around after you finish filling the machines and prepping toppings (usually only takes me an hour) and if it’s a close it’s pretty much the same thing other than Friday nights and Saturday nights! It’s pretty busy then but we have 2 closers so it’s not too bad!

Started at a local shop a month and some change ago, they left me alone after like 2 weeks 😂
@@woozin4696 ended up working there for about 3 months my manager was horrible. I ended up applying to an actual Starbucks (the previous one was privately owned) and was hired on the spot. Went in that same day and quit and now I am doing great at the new one it’s paying for my biology degree.
I’m a barista as well, you make the drinks so perfectly I luv putting that much care into customers drinks🫶🏻

@@pooper7427 apply to multiple stores, submit a resume where you talk about your experience (even if you haven't worked as a barista) working in teams, conflict resolution, being a people person, etc. try calling or better yet go in person, mondays around 11am are good because that's when you're most likely to run into a hiring manager, introduce yourself and tell the manager you're interested in working for them and you'd like to check on your application etc, be friendly and maybe order a drink

I love my job as a barista. I think if you see the beauty or actually enjoy the process, it becomes less of a job and more of an art. When I make perfect milk or pull beautiful shots. Making a pretty drink. Watching the milk and coffee swirl really gets me in the groove. I'm also a coffee aficionado, though. I knew the bean making process before I applied. I just wanted a side gig I loved lol.
I also work at starbucks for over a year, im guessing you have never ever done any side work like dishes or cleaning restrooms or mopping floows or anything lol. Its not just making pretty drinks. This job can suck ass a lot of the times
I work at my university Starbucks and it is usually so hectic and busy and only ever like this at night time right before closing or during the summer. I couldn't imagine working a solo shift at my Starbucks but of course the all gonna be different. Props to you for working a solo shift and still finding the time to capture you making drinks, doing preps, and warming! This was so calming.

Hi, Maria! I'm currently a Starbucks partner, and no, I never work alone as we are the busiest cafe store in our district and consistently have close to 6-8 people working at a time! But I used to work in a Safeway Starbucks, it was much slower and kind of like the Target ones I see (one machine, one register, smaller floor, etc.) and I often closed alone. Max. 3 people on shift at a time.
Yess, I usually work with 3 other people during a shift because we get so busy. Luckily, I'm only alone for the first hour of the day:D

Hi there! One thing that helped me was having one of the printer tapes on the espresso machines with pumps and shots amounts for sizes and type of drinks. It's what I do with all of the new baristas and it is a nice little cheat sheet!
One of the other tips I have is don't be discouraged if you don't pick it up fast. There are SO MANY drinks to learn in such a short period time and the training I feel is a joke, but remember it takes time and you will get it in no time! Hope this helps!
there are really only a few different types of drinks, just with different flavor combinations! Once you learn the right measurements for each size and the recipe for each drink (like a latte vs cappuccino vs americano, etc) you really just have to follow the flavors :") !
Tbh with you, learning where everything is on the computer and how to build drinks on there is going to take longer than learning to actually make them lol

This was so fun to watch! Very relaxing. But also interesting to see how the drinks are made - and to see what people order. A lot more oatmilk than I would have expected.
I've always wondered if the baristas get ticked at me when I order an iced vanilla latte or iced caramel macchiato with no ice since there's pretty specific measurements of stuff for the standard.
But I just don't like all the ice. It waters the drink down so bad and most of the time when I ask for light ice I still end up with the whole amount so I've just started ordering without.
We don't get ticked at that, but the Carmel in the macchiato sinks straight to the bottom without the ice.

I used to work at a Starbucks Kiosk in a store, it was so lonely but I miss the intimacy of things. Now I am a partner at a very big location so I work with a bunch of other people which I love, but I do miss the kiosk days 🥺

whoa, good to know the refreshers also come in trenta! i love the strawberry acai refresher, and i’m always left wanting more. i’ll take it on the way to the office and fill it up with sparkling water once i’m done just to get all the use i can out of the dried strawberries.
that was fun to watch. I saw one of my drinks - london fog. I forget how much milk is really in a latte and didn't even think about the london fog being strictly tea bags steeping in milk. Unfortunately the last time I got one, I'm pretty sure they left out the vanilla. My main order is an americano with splash of coconut milk and splash of heavy cream. I do appreciate baristas willing to alter orders to meet our specifications. I only did the variation on the americano because of the app asking me if I wanted coconut milk. I was like, "yeah, that sound different!" It gives a tiny hint of mocha - i guess the nuttiness of the coconut with the bitter espresso makes me think mocha. Sorry, no one cares, but I like talking coffee. Good job doing all that alone. Those orders didn't seem overly complicated but I would be afraid of getting overwhelmed cause you never know what someone may order or expect.
I love that you shake everything and use the right amount of ice, been to a lot where they don’t shake or use right ice scoop

Wow this is a huge difference to my Starbucks we got like 10+ cups in queue and it feels like your drowning in orders when alone props to you for being able to be do so well on your own!
There was a time when they would make us be alone for like 2+ hours (even when we had the staff for it) and I remember early opening was nice and calm but as 10 or 11 rolled around the morning rush came in too. It was A LOT and I would get so anxious as a newbie, especially when dealing with difficult guests, returns/refunds, drinks I didn't know, restocking, etc but now it's a lot better. I learned a lot, know recipes, work (somewhat) faster... generally more confident in myself. WE CAN DO IT GUYS!

Yesssss. I feel too scared to order anything too complicated so I always just order plan lattes. I am also terrible at remembering the different sizes and tend to just say small, medium or large.
I'm always nervous that I would come off as rude or be one of those ig starbucks girls the order superrrrr complicated shite.

I honestly miss being a barista at this local coffee shop I used to work for. I have really bad tunnel vision, so once I got busy and started making everyone's drinks time went by so fast. I didn't think of anything else except fixing up some drinks. Was nice.
