What a humble man ! A true gentleman and a very competent military leader. We have great military officers and such third rate politicians ( who sign secret deals with china and speak Pakistan's language) . A great interview.
Thankfully, I had a chance to visit INS Vikrant and its zero deck (even other lower decks too) during 1991 when I was NCC Naval wing cadet Nausainik Camp Mumbai, loved those 21 days stay over INS Suvarna my mothership at that time, also had a day of Patrolling in the same ship in Arebian Sea.. Also had a chance to visit frigates INS Kukri, DestroyerINS Mysore, INS Amba an unique ship, and one submarine.
How lovely! Cheers from another naval cadet from Karnataka. I went to Nau Sainik in Kochi (Cochin at that time) and went to sea on INS Brahmaputra. Jealous of you!
I remember Admiral Arun Prakash our CNS, COP and my Captain on board INS Vindhyagiri, he was the test pilot of Sea Harrier jump jet, he was so cool and content. I was a gunnery sailor on board his ship and was busy doing the paperwork on the deck, Capt Arun Prakash came around, I didn’t see him approaching. He said son good morning, everything fine son? I forgot to salute him. He went away calmly like nothing has happened!! Captain on board a warship is like a fatherly figure, yet a junior sailor didn’t salute him. That’s how senior officers get their respect from his men. Salute to you respectable Admiral. You are in my heart, you were a great pilot, Captain and Admiral 🙏🙏🙏
@@Col.J.N.W.SinghKhandala Sir, he was my captain, Rear Admiral and CNS, I had the rarer chance to serve under him, he always called me SON, or Beta. Naval tactics and systems are far more complex and intriguing than other sister services. The army and the air force deal with enemies in one or two dimensions at a time, whereas, naval warships deal in three dimensions viz. air, surface and underwater simultaneously at any given point of time.
Major, I enjoyed your podcast with Vice Admiral sir. I felt pride as being a part of naval aviation veterans. It made my memories refresh. I have been in the team of farewell ceremony of Admiral Talhyani sir in southern Naval command cochin(Kochi) now.
Vice Admiral Sinha salute you! Few years ago I watched your interview when a two Indian navy fighter pilots crashed in the ocean; the instructor died unfortunately and his body was recovered from the crash site in the sea bed. It was an awesome episode for any enthusiast aviator, navel pilot and leader.
Clarity of views and special anecdotes by Vice Admiral Sinha Sir make this episode absolutely watchable. Perhaps the young generation will be inspired towards the services, kudos to our Major Gaurav to present this !
It was an absolute delight to watch this podcast Gaurav Sir. Please please please keep inviting these men of honour and let us be enlightened with their stories of courage and valour. Deeply humbled. I come from an Army background, my father is a veteran Gunner. Much respect and love for our soldiers protecting our Air, Water and Land 🇮🇳♥️🔥
Thank You Sir. There was a show called Security Scan on Rajya Sabha TV which was scrapped thanks to clueless Babus. It was probably the finest show on defence security and national interest. Distinguished panelists like Admiral Sinha, Lt Gen. Saxena, Maj. Gen Chakraborty and many more were regular guests. Major sahab has to really get Lt. Gen. VK Saxena, now with VIF, for a talk. Do it please!
As an aviation enthusiast, this was absolutely gripping and fascinating. Proud of you both gentlemen esp. VA Sinha. I was a 3 year old in 1965 but I recall ducking under a table at my home in Mumbai as air raid siren went off on an afternoon.
An excellent episode. It is most interesting to hear from Vice Admiral Sekhar Sinha( Retd.). Full practical about those landings of Mig 29s & Harriers. Enjoyed totally. I had been once(1979) on Vikrant(Old one) with Sky Hawks & Breguet Alizes as it's air components. That first Vikrant was only 19,500 tons of displacement but it looks so huge & great to me that I may easily get lost some where in it. Now the new Vikrant is of 40000+ tons just the double in displacement. Can imagine how big it can be, a moving airfield with all its pitching & rolling. Admiral sir, how can a pilot adjust the sudden lift up or dropping down of touchpoint due to pitching up or down of Carriers back portion when weaves are high? Only a carrier pilot can tell the answer. A moving runway plus touching point is getting up or down, say by 15-20 feet due to weaves. What will be about glide down angle for correct touch down point? It is ever changing!
I had the privilege of boarding the INS Viraat way back in 1988 when it was just been acquired from the Royal British Navy. Viraat had docked off the harbour of Visakhapatnam. I was in class 6th then. I still have vivid memories of approaching the giant by a catamaran…The size and enormity of this machine amazed me. My adrenaline pumped up so much that I felt, I will do a VTO from its deck faster than the Sea Harriers on the deck. Witnessed couple of VTOL’s in sheer amazement and complete ecstasy. I again had a privilege of visiting the Vikramaditya when it docked off the coast of Karwar. As a banker and with pressing commitments, I couldn’t go and wait there at the Karwar Naval base as there was no certainty or a confirmed itinerary. However, I took sick leave for two days and rushed when its arrival was a certainty. Spent INR 50K on the airfare and flew of quietly to board it on time. And there I stood gazing at the mighty R33 in full glory. At 46, I can’t hide my child like excitement and puerility when I get a chance to visit a ship or a Submarine of the IN. I wish the podcast would have continued for two more hours with Vice Adm. Sinha and the reverse thruster not engaged by Major.Arya prematurely. A fighter jet takes 2 seconds to land on a aircraft carrier while approaching at a speed to 140knots (70m/s), which translates into a G-force of 3.56 [70/(2*9.81)] which is within the limit of 6 a human can safely withstand.
