Wow-- my Grandpa built the 'Two Sisters' seen at 2:56 minutes. Both of them (my aunt and mother) are still alive! Wonderful to see this beautiful Kauri keel in real life.
Peter, it was wonderful to see you in PT, and chat with and Lady Z at Sirens. We look forward to the next fortunate crossing of paths in the summers to come.
Excited, but more importantly excellent video/movie even!!about your travels. The boat festival footage was perfect especially the history behind each boat. Well done peter and the music is always a treat👏.
I enjoyed our conversation during the Port Townsend Wooden Festival. Thank you for showing me around Poem. Your diligent work on repairing and upgrading Poem is impressive.
Spent my late teens in St Monans in Fife and saw the end of the fine tradition of JW Millers. We had one of their yachts in Troon a couple of months back. So lovely to see two of them here. Also love that the Lorraine needs no introduction.
The very first boat picture, is of the Merry Chase. I moored next to a Merry Chase from Vancouver while I was in Prince Rupert in 1969. I was on my way to Ketchikan, Alaska in a 21 ft sail boat. I wonder if that is the same boat. She was a large fishing boat then and she was painted green. We drank a lot of wine on board her.
Hi Peter. I'm living in Monkstown in Cork Ireland. It was a nice treat at 4 mins to see a Miller Fifer Ketch. Would you believe I grew up on Canadian Fifers sister ship called Thane of Fife. Amazing to see one has gotten that far from Scotland. I visited St Monance a few years ago but alas the shipyard has long since gone. Love your channel. Its my highlight every Sunday. Thanks Sean
What a blast from the past! I lived on Orcas during WWII and my mom retired to Friday Harbor. I haven’t been there since the 90’s (l live in PA) and didn’t know how much I missed it. You brought a tear to my eye. 🥲👍🏻
Love the Port Townsend Wooden Boat show, used to be one of my favorite events. I was born and raised in Seattle, now living in the Sierra Nevada Mtns east of Sacramento. I deeply missing sailing and cruising that area for my first 40yrs.
I spent the first years of my life on the docks and beaches near Morro Bay, Ca. Then my parents abusively moved me inland. It took almost 20 years to even see the ocean again. Hopefully I'll be able to get close to it permanently at some point!
Thanks Peter for this video I set myself up with a cold beverage and a shot glass of varnish with a mahogany stir stick just to feel a little more part of the experience. I have been aching to some day participate in this event. Cheers!
Thank you for showing us this boat show! I haven't been able to make the PT Wooden Boat Festival in a few years, so it was almost like "being home!" Hopefully I'll be back to Port Townsend and Port Angeles towards the end of this month. Hoping to have a look at some boats, and of course have some amazing food!
Currently reading Joshua Slocum's "Sailing Around the World" and "Voyage of the Liberdade", so cool to see a "Spray" replica here, the timing is wild. Excited to finish the book!
*Lorraine* @6:38 is a Nordisk Folkbåt (Nordic Folkboat), a Swedish coastal racer-cruiser first built in 1942 and designed by Tord Sunden and Jac Iversen.
G’day Peter thanks for filming these beautiful boats there is something about a wooden built boat. I meant to ask you last time what varnish / sealant do you use on the woodwork to get that terrific shine and depth, I would really appreciate it thanks mate take care John
Canadian Fifer is a bonnie boat. My father owned two St Monans built seine netters one built by Walter Reekie and the other by Miller. Highly recommend you visit the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther when you come over to Scotland for a holiday.
good luck with winning a trophy! One question I have is that the boat always seem to be front-heavy, especially when motoring at lower speeds. Is that intended. The waves created by the boat look to be "anti-speed" or at least "anti-economic" like somebody has a break on? Would be great to have an explanation (lie she was intended as speedboat with typically >20knts of cruising speed)
A pretty video one starts to drew from beginning till the end :-) greetings, Albert (one that confuses Bakelite with Porcelain 🥴. P.S. When you left with Poem the big white Ship was that the North Western or a similar / sister ship?
Peter, is any of the soundtrack music on your channel, you on guitar? (Ive noticed your guitar cases stashed here and there.) Ive been watching since the Mark King bass intro...
Yeah - about what can I say is that I saw only one very beatyfull bout called "New Seeker". All other boats were painted outside like fiberclass boats and I don't really understand why. Wooden boats must look like wooden boats are. I understand that steel / alunium boat are painted but paint wooden boat is mayby a North American style and I don't like them at all...
Loved seeing the boats today, and the stories you shared of each. It's on my bucket list to visit that show one year. A little far to take Elizabeth B from Texas sadly, so i have to rever to being bipedal 😁
The excitement is as palatable as the beer. Thanks for all the info on the boats! Wow that's a lot of work.
Peter, I am most definitely excited to see the next episode and see the beautiful ladies participating in the wood boat festival 🎉
WTF?
I’m always excited to watch a new episode of Travels with Geordie. Cheers!
Wow-- my Grandpa built the 'Two Sisters' seen at 2:56 minutes. Both of them (my aunt and mother) are still alive! Wonderful to see this beautiful Kauri keel in real life.
Thats so cool Kelly! She's in good hand with my friend Scott the Shipwright.
Lovely - I think Belle @ 5:54 is my favorite. Besides poem of course. Nice chatting with you at PT, safe travels back.
Peter, it was wonderful to see you in PT, and chat with and Lady Z at Sirens. We look forward to the next fortunate crossing of paths in the summers to come.
And you as well. Thank you very much!
Excited, but more importantly excellent video/movie even!!about your travels. The boat festival footage was perfect especially the history behind each boat. Well done peter and the music is always a treat👏.
If I ever fell in love with a wooden boat, she would be a Christ Craft. Sorry I missed you at PT!
That was a superb film, well put together and fascinating content. Well done Peter and thank you muchly.😀👍⛵️

As the good Lloyd intended.
It was nice to meet you and see your boat in Friday Harbor.

A very exciting episode seeing you so excited. Wish I was there. Thanks.
Lovely boats. Fantastic video.

Glad you made it across.
Funny, one of my cousins growing up was "Mark Fisher" (highly doubtful the same). ;-)

How about a haiku?
Wooden boats set sail,
Excited waves embrace them,
Nature's dance unveiled.
No episode this week? I hope all is ok and you are just busy Peter!
Such nice boats - bring them to visit Aalborg in Denmark :)
A pretty video one starts to drew from beginning till the end :-) greetings, Albert (one that confuses Bakelite with Porcelain 🥴. P.S. When you left with Poem the big white Ship was that the North Western or a similar / sister ship?
Look out for that persistent otter that lives very close to where you filmed your intro...
Peter, is any of the soundtrack music on your channel, you on guitar? (Ive noticed your guitar cases stashed here and there.)
Ive been watching since the Mark King bass intro...
I miss that bass intro, it was amazing.
sadly no, I keep thinking I'll do some but just never get to it.
I'm not much of a guitarist.
We're there any Huon pine vessels?
If the name Thelonius is already taken, what about the name Chip?
Finn.e.gan! Finn.e.gan!
