Andor Created The Most UNBEATABLE Ship In Star Wars - Luthen's Fondor Haulcraft

  • Since the start of Andor I have been DYING to know what Luthen's ship was capable of. The design is something ripped right out of the extended lore and MAN does it not disappoint. He treats the empire like a playground and we get just a small taste of the full power of the Fondor Haul Craft!

    Im sure Luthens is a good pilot, but i think the show did an excellent job of showing that the ship is just ridiculously stacked. If there are any complaints as to how overpowered it seems, the answer would simply be that hardly anyone could afford such a ship. Most people that rich would probably just be enjoying high society rather than fighting the empire.

    One tech thing people never mention was his ships ability to decoy burn an engine...so wait his ship can decoy sensor readings? Any idea how much of an advantage that'd be in combat...you come upon his ship...you sensor readings show you that his weapon systems are down or his engines are failing...you decide to board...next thing you know his ship fully powers up and you're dead

      Nah...I love a story that starts and end logically. If the writers and producers saw it as a 2 season story , they should keep it that way. The moment they deviate from what seems to be fantastic story telling and try cash in by extending the show (especially as we know how it all ends), the show will get watered down and drop levels.

    Normally I'd absolutely hate a ship using lightsabers to fight but with everything else it was just too awesome. The whole scene was a perfect encapsulation of the empire and of Luthen in the show: the empire is bored and doesn't really care that much and Luthen is extremely methodical and overly prepared for everything because he's rich enough to afford it. It shows, not tell, what Luthen is not only capable of but also the lengths he's willing to go to for the cause.

    • @blublubblub
      @blublubblub Год назад +7

      Apparently it's not lightsabers, just simple lasers, which do exist in Star Wars. It's just that the frame doesn't show the beams continuing through Space.
      That makes sense. Lasers are "conventional" for Star Wars, but Lightsaber tech with their peculiar behavior, and how to manipulate kyber crystals to build them, that's probably something few people other than Jedi and Sith know about. Mandalore the Great was one of the few who figured out how to build one, due to being close to the Jedi before the rivalry begun, I think.

      Beam weapons were around in the prequels, particularly those Artillery walkers used in Attack of the Clones. Death Star laser system seems to also use similar beam system at least to make a single super sized laser bolt to destroy planets and were confirmed by Rogue One to be powered by Kyber crystals. Rebels had an episode of a B-Wing prototype using converging beam weaponry to destroy capital ships, something not seen on production B-Wings. The technology has always been there, it's not limited to lightsabers.

    Btw, the image (3:57) of the Cantwell Class Commander looking out the window at the escaping Fondor is excellent. An amazing amount of exposition contained in that brief scene:
    1) an excellent depiction of near orbit space space
    2) the disintegrating dish in the foreground
    3) the brilliance of Luthan's escape
    4) the "What just happened" / "I am so screwed" look of the commander's face

    YES , they did (in answer to Your question)!! The ship --in its cockpit design --does not make the "Prequel Trilogy" mistake. All of the spacecraft from those movies were too high-tech looking (to have existed during the time period before Episodes' 4, 5, & 6 & or , much of the aesthetic and supporting technological devices from the Prequel Trilogy looked / felt out of place ; or from an alternate Star Wars universe). From the work done by the director of 'Rogue One' (forgot his name for some reason), J. Faverau & D. Filoni , to Mr. Gilroy's design team's spacecraft --in other words --Most of the ships & the overall technological design aesthetic (from the aforementioned directors) all look period correct (& or like they fit into the time period that they are portraying). The comparison I am really trying to make is --with the Prequel Trilogy --we got Teslas' before corvettes and mustangs etcetera etc (please know that I don't hate the prequel trilogy at all ; quite the contrary , it has some good contributions to the overall canon of Star Wars). Luthian's ship is really well thought out. From it's features and design, to its weaponry and stealth capabilities!! Total design success --while at the same time --not too flashy or overstated!!

    We were all entertained with the absolute kick-assidness of Luthen Rael's Fondor Haulcraft. There are subtle hints throughout season one, that suggest exceptionalism birthed within this common, yet juiced-up sleeper Haulcraft, as well as Luthen himself.
    1) End of Episode three, Andor and Luthen escape Ferrix on of the Haulcraft: Andor mumbles: "I've flown.... never seen a Haulcraft do that!" : it jet-off so fast it unexpectedly knocked Andor back. Rare Kuiper crystals (lots) power this ship imo.
    2) Luthen's epic monologue: "an equation I wrote 15 years ago from which there's only one conclusion." Simple SW calendar math, brings us to approximately order 66. How old do you think Kleya Marki, Luthen's exceptionally astute assistant, appears to be.....A youngling rescued from the temple and Coruscant?
    Every time I watch this movie, I find many many more hints supporting these (admittedly wishful) conclusions.

    The grills with the "Shrapnel" is more akin to the "Metal Storm" weapon invented by Australian J. Mike O'Dwyer. It uses multiple barrels that are superposed; multiple projectiles loaded nose to tail in a single gun barrel & electronically fired. One prototype array demonstrated a firing rate of just over 1 million rounds per minute for a 180-round burst of 0.01 seconds (~27,777 rpm / barrel). Firing within 0.1 seconds from up to 1600 barrels (at maximum configuration) the gun claimed a maximum rate of fire of 1.62 million RPM and creating a dense wall (0.1 m between follow-up projectiles) of 24,000 projectiles. Its a scary weapon.

    The most unbeatable ship in Star Wars exists in legends called the sun crusher. It was the size of a starfighter and it was a system killer superweapon as it would destroy the sun and cause it to go supernova destroying that entire star system as a result. It was a ship so durable it could even survive the blast thanks to its Quantum Crystalline armor which means nothing can destroy this ship so nothing is really a threat to it. That armor strangely enough gives the sun crusher a unique ability of being able to turn the ship into a weapon itself that can destroy capital ships purely by ramming straight through them and it takes no damage as a result due to the aformentioned armor. The craziest feat of its armor is that it even survived a glancing shot from another legends craft the prototype death star laser.
    The only thing that was capable of destroying it was one of the maw installation's many black holes that surrounded it. The ship is so broken and overpowered that you will likely never see it become canon or show up in any Disney Star Wars projects because its already hated by fans.

      @@SpacemanSR Check wookipedia as they have an extensive article on it. Most fans find it fascinating but its largely hated by fans who know about it because its the kind of shit you might find in Warhammer 40k or Star Trek. Problem is that it just seems so out of place in Star Wars where super weapons are insanely massive and to an extent seem a tad more reallistic that way and require an ungodly amount of resources and support. The sun crusher is the exact opposite since it has no weaknesses, is a system killer, doesn't require any support(because its unkillable), and its about the same size as an X-Wing. So you can sort of understand why many fans hate this thing.
      Small sidenote in that I theorize that Starkiller base from the sequels is heavily inspired by the Star Crusher's main weapon but modified to destroy the planets without causing a supernova.

      @@SpacemanSR I know I'd love to see some legend ships being added to canon especially with Disney gearing up to have Admiral Thrawn become the next big bad of Star Wars. They even have the perfect setup to give Admiral Thrawn a superweapon of his own by using two seperate legends ships.
      The way they could do this would be to canonize the Prototype Death Star aka PDS and the Eclipse Super Star Destroyer or just Eclipse. The Eclipse in legends was Palpatine's flagship during the awful dark empire storyline that was adapted in the absolutely awful Star Wars sequels. Now how these two ships could work in canon is that since the PDS is a testbed purely for the laser and is a skeleton superstructure it has no value as a battlestation. Because of that they could remove the super laser and build an SSD around that laser giving us the Eclipse in canon. Thrawn eventually finds the Eclipse in storage at the Maw Installation and seizes it as his flagship.
      PS I"m not even joking about how bad the Dark Empire story in legends was as its THE most hated legends story by the fanbase. Certainly, puts into perspective of why the fanbase was so split on the sequels.
      EDIT: Meant to say Thrawn finds the Eclipse...=P

    Just figured I would mention this politely before some annoying nitpicker comes along and calls you stupid or something, its made by Fondor shipyards not corellian engineering hence called fonder haulcraft. Though multiple design elements seem similar to yt series freighters so its not crazy to think its a ship of that series.

    I wouldn't say unbeatable. The Imperials were not expecting this. The crew probably wasn't trained for these tactics. They seemed very lax about it. In fact the Empire being lax about things is the underlying message of the series.
    Luthen took advantage of the situation. Had they deployed the TIEs sooner or opened fire on him, he would have been in a lot of trouble.
    But lets face it, the whole scene was incredibly James Bond and cool to watch.

    1. It’s not Corellian
    2. It’s not called the Fondor
    You see, the Ship is called a Haulcraft, Fondor is the Manufacturer, mainly Fondor Shipyards on the Planet Fondor, my guess is that it tried to compete with the Likes of the YT and VXC series freighters that CEC was pumping out, modeling it after both, leaning to the Honest trader with Cargo capabilities, and Smugglers with the Ability to go full 007 out the rear!

    • @SpacemanSR
      @SpacemanSR  Год назад +3

      Appreciate the comment, if I may:
      1) It's designed from the Fondorian Yards, but it has scrapped Corellian ship design in its markup, I did some digging for the video
      2) It's designated everywhere as the Fondor Haulcraft, so thats what I used for the video. Until a new name is given to it, it will be referenced as the Fondor Haulcraft
      Cheers!

    • @SpacemanSR

      Shields I think in star wars are more for energy based weapons....kinetic weapons go right through the shields....think back to EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.... when they were searching for the millennium falcon in the asteroid field the star destroyers were taking massive damage from the ROIDS!

    • @NomadSnow
      @NomadSnow Год назад +4

      The shielding being used aren't for kenetic forces, they're for deflecting energy-based weapons. Kind of like how Mandalorians figured out if Jedi keep deflecting entire energy energy weapons due to their nature and ballistics, they switched to essential modern day bullets and slugs, that break and shrapnel on impact and wouldn't reroute, same idea with flamethrowers. It's all about the technicalities and finding subtle weaknesses,

    • @subsume7904
      @subsume7904 Год назад +3

      As people have said, shields are for energy weapons, not kinetic. Luthen fired little spikes, not plasma or energy.
      Also, I know in some sci-fi universes the repelling nature of energy shields is velocity based, so slower objects, like the spikes Luthen fired, wouldn't even activate the energy shields on impact.

    @DoremiFasolatido1979 Год назад

    I mean...it's cool. And it DOES actually have some use, unlike really almost ALL other ships in all of sci-fi, with only a tiny handful of exceptions.
    A single ship, properly designed for actual space combat, would generally be able to defeat multiple enemy ships of seemingly overwhelmingly superior firepower. They're all that badly designed.
    Doesn't even need to be an overgunned or high-tech ship. Just correctly configured.
    To use Star Wars as an example...a ship a 1/4 the size of an ISD, with jury-rigged rebel equipment, would still be able to defeat two ISDs by itself, in the hands of anyone who knows the main weakness of an ISD is the planet-sized blind-spot in their firing arcs, to the ventral-aft quarter of the vessel.
    Another example, would be that it's relatively simple to design a ship for Star Trek, using TOS technology, and still be able to defeat even a Sovereign class vessel. A couple of them could have probably destroyed the Scimitar (that thing was a real trash heap).
