@@spoonunit03 yeah, someone needs to cast her in a remake of La Femme Nikita. A book about a Russian girl living a normal life, but is a secret govt assassin. The movie Point Of No Return with Bridget Fonda was a take off on it.
Me too. It's made me realize how bad a job Hollywood does when researching non-English speaking cultures. Hollywood would also benefit from using people who have native-like fluency of specific languages.
I love it when Dasha translates the Russian dialogue. She always gives such a good assessment of the actors' pronunciation, and the context of what they're actually saying. 🤗❤
Great reaction Dasha. I love how delighted you are when you hear people speaking Russian, and so great to hear your translations and insight. Thank you.
It's always nice to hear your native language in movies/TV series. As a German, I also loved watching this movie because it takes places in Germany as well and we can hear Bourne speaking German as well as some actual Germans. And Bourne does a pretty good job. You can still hear a slight accent though and we no longer say "Mein Herr" (sir) in German because that sounds archaic to us. Same with "Fräulein" (miss). There's actually no equivalent to "ma'am" in German that I know of.
I thought the shot about not being able to find Nikki was best. @13:00 Landy "what if I can't find her" "she's standing right next to you". I personally think he should have been more direct but that would give away which roof top he was on. But still he would have had enough time to get away. Bourne should have said "she's standing in front of you" or "She standing to your right".
The Russian oil magnate Gretkov played by Karel Roden, a Czech actor who actually speaks Russian because that was mandatory education back in 60s through 80s in Czechoslovakia when he was . But I guess the accent is still there. He often plays characters from post-Soviet republics - RocknRolla, Orphan or Hellboy to name a few.
It was but that doesn't mean most people actually learned it. Both my parents grew up in Czechoslovakia, basically the same time as him and neither speaks more than a few words of Russian. It's like taking a few years of French or Spanish in high school, you don't actually learn the language, you just do enough to pass the class.
@@kampfer3146 Yeah, I like that one too ... and Julia Stiles AND the way she said that line. I wasn't sure about her acting abilities before, but she did a great job in the little bit they gave her.
The reason Irena Neski is speaking Russian so well is because the actress is Oksana Akinshina, who is born Russian. First time I saw her was in the movie "Lilya 4-ever" from 2002 (A collaboration by some Swedish and Danish production companies). Quite a bit of it takes place in Russia, as far as I remember with them speaking in Russian and then subtitled. Just thinking back on the movie makes me tear up.
This is my favorite in the franchise. The action is amazing, the chase scenes are great, the music is excellent and Matt Damon is perfect for the role.
This one is my favorite too. It added tension and intrigue, but still had the humanity of the first movie. Bourne seeking out Irina just to tell her that he assassinated her parents is such an amazing character moment. And the shaky-cam did not bother me (even on the big screen). The third movie made Bourne too much of a superhero IMO, I didn't like it as much as the first two.
@@dan_hitchman007 - The Bourne Legacy isn't as bad as people make it to be. It actually expands on the world building aspect quite well which was cool. But yeah, the last Bourne film wasn't very good and didn't really add anything to the series.

There's conversation revolving around who would win in a fight out of Jason Bourne, John Wick, James Bond, Ethan Hunt. And in my opinion, Jason Bourne would wipe the floor with all of them. It's not a popular opinion (most people say John Wick), but I am unwilling to change my mind lol. I think it's just been too long since people have seen these original 3 Bourne movies. Awesome reaction! Have a beautiful weekend
Bourne and Wick would definitely be the last 2 standing, and Bourne would have a chance at winning. It'd depend on things like where the fight takes place and other variables, I think. But in at least some cases you're not wrong, Bourne would win.
In my opinion Jason Bourne wins unless John Wick has a gun out of striking distance. If Bourne is close enough that he has a chance to disarm Wick, in my opinion, Bourne wins. As he is the superior hand-to-hand combatant and better at using objects in the environment to his advantage. I know people are like "But John Wick and the pencil!" To which I remind them Bourne was using pens to take out bad guys long before Wick thought about using a pencil.
another entertaining reaction. thank you. how nice to see you get so excited when russian was spoken and russia was in the movie. still so impressed with how well you understand english. wonderful that you enjoyed the bourne supremacy.

In the books (which are way better than the movies (and I like the movies)) Marie does not die at this time. She plays an important role in his life and helps him through several more situations. The part where he says, "It's easy, she's standing right in front of you" is a classic line and it will always be good and will wow whomever watches it. Everyone in that room got tight. I've seen this movie at least a dozen times. I was happy to get some of the Russian translations.
Hey Dasha, just subscribed here! Fun fact about The Bourne Supremacy: many scenes that are supposed to take place in Moscow-especially the ones with those iconic blue-striped buildings toward the end-were actually filmed in East Germany! The filmmakers put so much attention to detail into finding places that looked like Moscow’s that it’s almost impossible to tell. Thought you’d find that interesting
i was in Moscow studying medicine when this came out and we were all so excited they filmed it in Kievskaya metro and i remember Frunzenskaya Metro as well because our dekanat was there (pervy Med imeni Sechenov) and we usually eat at the macdonalds there.. and yes the taxi guys are very very persistent since we were foreign students. Loving your reactions, Dasha! The "Bourne" series is one of the best action/thriller movie series ever (IMHO)! There are two more great movies with Matt Damon as Jason Bourne: "The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)" and "Jason Bourne (2016)". Technically, there was another Bourne film between these two: "The Bourne Legacy (2012)" that starred Jeremy Renner. It was somewhat connected to the series but didn't directly tie into the character of Jason Bourne. I really look forward to seeing if you react to these movies as well. 🙂
26:23 it makes watching the movie so much more fun when dasha give us the russian facts! this movie, john wick, the hunt for red october... heck, even predator. dasha is my go to for all things russian. ❤👍🏼
The first 3 are great. The other 2 are good, but a bit different. These 3 brought an awesome style and, funny enough, probably saved the future James Bond movies by forcing them to tone down the “having a fist fight while surfing on a tsunami” stuff lol.
It's always cool watching a reactor who speaks a non-English language that is in the film being reacted to, and we get their opinion of the actors' fake accents, plus translations.
Bourne is the ultimate secret agent with a dark past that sees each mission as a chess match, and so he matches wits with opponents and counters their every move because he knows their tactics. The closure for Bourne was not just getting revenge; it also was when he admitted his guilt to the young Russian lady for killing her family. So I enjoyed the entire Bourne trilogy and hope you review the next one of the series also Dasha.
Dasha, you mentioned you don’t do comedies because of the subtitles. A great comedy where you don’t have to worry about this is: “Blades of Glory.” With Will Farrell. I highly recommend it!
So glad you’re watching this series. They are such good spy movies. When you watch the rest don’t forget there’s a spinoff movie with Jeremy Renner as well. So it what you have left is The Bourne Ultimatum, The Bourne Legacy and then Jason Bourne.
I know that you so loved doing this reaction because of all the russian interaction and so did I. Loved all your insight and interaction about the real russian spies/mafia. I loved this reaction so much that I doubled back and did an immediate rewatch. How you relate back to us who are not russian is priceless. Steve
Good to see the Russian perspective. Most American movie don't do a great job when depicting other countries accents and the way they speak. It sounds like this one did ok. Interestingly, the Russian secret service actor is actually a New Zealander. I'm pretty sure he struggled to get work until he started to do other accents. (The New Zealand accent sounds pretty bad in movies, you just got to listen to Bobba Fett, what a mistake that was. I would have to say the exception would have to be Jumunji.)
I love the Bourne movies, never get tired of watching them. I think you would enjoy Atomic Blond (2017), interesting plot, great action, and kickass soundtrack.
You should also try "Eastern Promises" with Viggo Mortenson. Russian Mafia in London, half the movie is in Russian. Very good movie. Thanks for the great reaction!
Dasha another great reaction to a movie I really like. I could really see your face light up during the Russian language parts. No need to apologize it is a natural reaction. Hopefully the actors sounded right even if the sentences are short. Never worry about being yourself as that is something special we all enjoy. Honestly I enjoy hearing you speak English with your trilled/rolled R’s even if English does not use trilled/rolled R’s. Makes me jealous as I am not near as good at that with my Spanish or Russian. Хорошо. Спасибо большое.
22:31 The ones I counted across the films: English, German, Dutch, French, Spanish, Russian. I presume he knows others as well like Italian when he was in Naples. Another name on one of his passports is actually an Italian name.
If the FSS agent Kirill looks familar, it's Karl Urban. He was Eomer in The Lord of the Rings, Dr. McCoy in the new Star Trek movies, and starred in the action comedy RED with Bruce Willis.
Another great reaction, Dasha. The third film in the 'Bourne' is even better, I hope that you do the next one soon. Another film which is like this which I think that you'll like, Dasha, is 'Salt' from 2010 with Angelina Jolie.
For me the Bourne series is great! Fantastic movies and story lines, but I really like how the movie takes us to different countries across Europe. Having been stationed in England, Germany, Turkey and Kuwait with visits to France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Israel while in the US Air Force it brings back wonderful memories and adventures. I hope everyone gets a chance to experience the many and varied cultures that make Europe a great place to visit. Cheers
Loved your reaction and especially your insight into the Russian aspects.🙂 The third movie is just as good. The fourth doesn't have matt Damon and is more stand alone. It's not as good as the others, but still decent. Matt Damon is quite picky about his scripts, so you if you see his name you're usually in for a good movie. Another of his which I love, though very different is 'The Talented Mr Ripley'. I think you'd enjoy it too.
Really enjoyed watching your smiles & insight on the Russian language as well as the traffic police vs the real police, it brings a deeper understanding of it...
Dasha I’ve been watching your reactions for a while. This is for you. When I was watching the movie scenes in Russia when Jason was shot and he was trying to heal the wounds with what‼️‼️‼️Vodka?????😳😳🫢🫢 My mind went back 40 years ago when that Vodka was in everywhere in Havana. I was a teenager and I remember that thin bottle with the label red and white 😢😢 OMG how the time flies. The MOSCOW buildings, similars to some in Cuba. WOW I forgot the few words and Russian vocabulary
Dasha - I too enjoy watching movies with you especially ones in Russia and that you relate what is being said even if there are sub titles. You give us inside thoughts also . Keep up the good work and I have watched most all your reactions.!!!!!
I was very excited to hear what you'd say about this one coz of the Russian and the car chase plus your observations. Not disappointed. Very nice and I look forward to the next Bourne movie. Its pretty good. The car chase in this one is just one of the best ever hands down. On par with the one in Ronin.
Dasha + anything with Russian (or attempting Russian) is always a treat within a treat 😁 honorable shoutout to "Boondock Saints", def a reaction worthy movie that doesn't get enough attention... and I'm pretty sure there is a bit of Russian 👍
You are the best one to watch movies with Russian dialogue. Cool to know that Matt did a good job speaking it. I was actually wondering, because his French was not very good, but his Russian sounded good, though I don't know any Russian.
I reckon Dasha is KGB.x far too intelligent and the look's of a Bond Girl.. too good to be true, beautiful with wicked sense of humour and smart.xx and the reaction to Bourne is going good... Cheer's Gorgeous 🇬🇧
Another cool movie with a very Russian story line for you would be 'Dr. Zhivago' from 1965. A very old film, and VERY long, but a real classic and epic film of Russian history.
I hold this film in extremely high regard. I think it's the best spy film ever made. I think it has the best car chase ever made. And I think it has the most beautiful, politically remorseful ending to an action film I've ever seen.
5:35 I feel the same way every time I hear someone speaking spanish in foreign language movies. I just cannot stop analyzing how every word is pronounced or how good it sounds if the person is not a native spanish speaker
11:36 we no longer say "Mein Herr" (sir) in German because that sounds archaic to us. Same with "Fräulein" (miss). There's actually no equivalent to "ma'am" in German that I know of.
Really cool that you're loving this series so much. More people should watch it. Just wait until Ultimatum. It's so good. The "you look tired" scene actually takes place in the third movie so don't be confused when he doesn't know his real identity at the beginning of the next one.
11:36 - 11:40 The translation is: Receptionist: "No sir, the name has not been registered." Bourne: "Can I please speak with the guest Pamela Landy?" And since Dasha loves to analyze the Russian lines, I will do the same for the German lines: Bourne actually speaks German very well. I can understand everything and he only has a slight, very small accent.
In the first movie, Bourne's always on top, always at peak. He handles the car chase smoothly, evades snipers and gunmen, manages clever tricks timed to the second. In this one, so many things go wrong. The Berlin and Moscow police are much more effective. The metro train is late closing its doors. He gets hurt jumping on the boat. He gets shot. The car chase gives him no time to prepare so he keeps driving into traffic. It's more desperate and it works. It works even better with the first movie as contrast.
15:35 Some German there on the right article. "Russland" is Russia. Then there is "Tod von Vladimir..." which means "death of Vladimir", although in German we spell the name with a W, not with a V. It's pronounced the same tho. 15:42 And again some German. The name of the paper is "Berliner Zeitung" (Berlin Newspaper). On the left there is an article concerning the Middle east: "Nahost - Die Quelle der Nachahmung (Middle East - The Source of the Imitation). Then in red, above the little picture of Neski, there is "Heute - Hintergrund" (Today - Blackground information). And then in the center: "Russischer Politiker Neski und Frau erschossen - Mord und Selbstmord?" (Russian Politician Neski and Wife shot - Murder and Suicide?" And the little description underneath the headline: "Vladimir Neski und Frau erschossen in Hotel aufgefunden/Polizei geht von Ehefrau als Täterin aus/Das Motive soll in kaputter Ehe liegen" (Vladimir Neski and wife found shot in hotel/Police suspects wife as perpetrator/The motive is suspected to be damaged marriage)
Great reaction, Dasha! Just an interesting bit of info...most of car chases stunts in Moscow were done by 15 or 16 years old Russian guy, lol. Can’t wait for a 3d movie which is my personal favourite. Cheers!
I think you would really like the TV series "Alias" which ran from 2001 to 2006 starring Jennifer Garner. She plays an international agent who goes undercover a lot, often in Europe. Plenty of action, intrigue and a surprising number of dance clubs.

It's a biased opinion but the 3rd one is right up there with this one. It does not flinch when being compared to either of them. Right up there with the best series of movies to come out of Hollywood. They're just smart and intense scripts that are really fun to watch.

You should also try "Eastern Promises" with Viggo Mortenson. Russian Mafia in London, half the movie is in Russian. Very good movie. Thanks for the great reaction!
In episode 161 of the show "myth busters", they try to reproduce the scene of the newspaper in the toaster with the gas, but do not succeed.
Urban is a tremendous actor.
Also played Judge Dredd but you'll just have to recognise his chin.
Cheers
Loved your reaction and especially your insight into the Russian aspects.🙂
The third movie is just as good.
I loved your translation and commentary on the Russian aspects of this movie.. Thank you
The third one is SOOOOOOOO GREAT!
The main Russian enemy was Eomer of Rohan from Lord Of the Rings, actor Karl Urban.
Great commentary!
Dasha I’ve been watching your reactions for a while. This is for you. When I was watching the movie scenes in Russia when Jason was shot and he was trying to heal the wounds with what‼️‼️‼️Vodka?????😳😳🫢🫢
My mind went back 40 years ago when that Vodka was in everywhere in Havana.
I was a teenager and I remember that thin bottle with the label red and white 😢😢 OMG how the time flies. The MOSCOW buildings, similars to some in Cuba.
WOW
I forgot the few words and Russian vocabulary
Dasha - I too enjoy watching movies with you especially ones in Russia and that you relate what is being said even if there are sub titles. You give us inside thoughts also . Keep up the good work and I have watched most all your reactions.!!!!!
I forgot to say glad you showed us the entire scene with the neski girl others cut that up too much.
I was very excited to hear what you'd say about this one coz of the Russian and the car chase plus your observations. Not disappointed. Very nice and I look forward to the next Bourne movie. Its pretty good. The car chase in this one is just one of the best ever hands down. On par with the one in Ronin.
And the 3rd one is even better. Thanks for reacting to this.
5:46 the look dasha gives the camera
Dasha + anything with Russian (or attempting Russian) is always a treat within a treat 😁 honorable shoutout to "Boondock Saints", def a reaction worthy movie that doesn't get enough attention... and I'm pretty sure there is a bit of Russian 👍
Great reaction.
Actually, she would more likely be FSB and in her own G Wagon as mentioned in the reaction! 😂😊
Great job Dasha! It's always nice when you translate and give your opinion on Russian in movies. Keep up the great work.
I love when Dasha watches movies with Russian dialogue. I hope she goes back to the Rocky movies. When she gets to Rocky 4 it’ll be a great reaction
Can't wait for you to watch The Bourne Ultimatum!!
Really cool that you're loving this series so much. More people should watch it.
Just wait until Ultimatum. It's so good. The "you look tired" scene actually takes place in the third movie so don't be confused when he doesn't know his real identity at the beginning of the next one.
Specifically watched this reaction to see Dasha's insights into the Russian segments. Was not disappointed.
Fantastic movie! On to the third one :)
11:36 - 11:40 The translation is:
Receptionist: "No sir, the name has not been registered."
Bourne: "Can I please speak with the guest Pamela Landy?"
And since Dasha loves to analyze the Russian lines, I will do the same for the German lines: Bourne actually speaks German very well. I can understand everything and he only has a slight, very small accent.
18:16 Bourne has some BIG faith in the German railway there. ;)
(They are known for being unpunctional)
And then in the center: "Russischer Politiker Neski und Frau erschossen - Mord und Selbstmord?" (Russian Politician Neski and Wife shot - Murder and Suicide?"
And the little description underneath the headline: "Vladimir Neski und Frau erschossen in Hotel aufgefunden/Polizei geht von Ehefrau als Täterin aus/Das Motive soll in kaputter Ehe liegen" (Vladimir Neski and wife found shot in hotel/Police suspects wife as perpetrator/The motive is suspected to be damaged marriage)
Great reaction, Dasha! Just an interesting bit of info...most of car chases stunts in Moscow were done by 15 or 16 years old Russian guy, lol. Can’t wait for a 3d movie which is my personal favourite. Cheers!
I didn't know that about the car chases, thanks for educating Dasha's viewers as well as Dasha herself. Romanov... are you Russian too?
Russian Canadian, yes. My parents moved to Canada in early 90s when I was just a baby
@@alexromanov485 Dasha is in Canada, too. I wonder how big a Russian population Canada has?
It’s huge, somewhere in top 5, after Chinese, Filipinos, and South East
Asians (Indians/Pakistanies).
JASON BOURNE 3 IS COOL TOO.
I think you would really like the TV series "Alias" which ran from 2001 to 2006 starring Jennifer Garner. She plays an international agent who goes undercover a lot, often in Europe. Plenty of action, intrigue and a surprising number of dance clubs.
Love the Russian insights. 🙂👍
I love Julia Stiles... !!!!
Beautiful reaction as usual, Dasha
Loving your take on these movies
About this one - if u like Chris Cooper, he is a grear actor, check out Lone Star or indeed Adaptation
Actually Adaptation is AMAZING for all sorts of reasons, one of my faves all time...
Will keep tuning into your channel
The 3rd one is great too :)
So glad you're going back down this rabbit hole, such a good Matt Damon series. The Bourne Ultimatum will definitely answer questions. Please watch that and then The Bourne Legacy with Jeremy Renner then Jason Bourne. Thanks! Good movie.
So glad i can be back on your channel watching you react to our homeland before all the bs. Anything with Russia or Russian in it i'm there for and having you translate in real time helps, than you for your service ma'am!
It's a biased opinion but the 3rd one is right up there with this one. It does not flinch when being compared to either of them. Right up there with the best series of movies to come out of Hollywood. They're just smart and intense scripts that are really fun to watch.
All the Bourne movies are great, even the one with Jeremy Renner in the lead role
I love that you reacted to this movie, I love when you can give commentary on russian language being spoken. I've said it before, you should watch Pacific rim, one of the hero teams is russian, and speak almost exclusivly in russian, and you should also watch Kick ass 2 as one of the big villains is russian.
Thank you for continuing to react to this trilogy. The killing of Marie(Franka Potente) bothered me too.
I highly recommend reacting to Requiem for a Dream (2000). Not an easy movie, but very, very good. Cheers.
Thank you so much for translating all the little Russian bits😌🙏
Great reaction! It is so cool that you can translate the Russian parts.
Bourne is one of the best action movie ever!
Hi Dasha,
Thank you for another great reaction.
Apologies if you have already seen it, but if not, there is a fantastic Russian film about the Soviet-Afghan war called The 9th Company. I highly recommend it.
Take good care.
Yes, yes, and more yes. I will play tye Russian lullaby after finishing the viewing;
Let's add the Moby mix along with the famous Mobi-licious mixes
