The movie they were watching was the original Halloween from1978 it should have been the first movie you watched to kick off Halloween season I'm disappointed in your son's for not telling you
I know you haven't watched the movie but one of reporters who was harassing Sydney was Linda Blair, the actress who played the little girl Regan in the Exorcist.
"Scream" is responsible for reviving the slasher film. After "Scream" came out there were many slasher films released at the same time starting with "I Know What You Did Last Summer" a year later. Other films followed such as "Urban Legend", "Disturbing Behavior" and "Scream 2". Also, happy birthday to you and your wife. Two classic Hitchcock horror films from the 60's that I believe you can handle James are "Psycho" and "The Birds". These two movies rely more on suspense and less on gore. "Psycho" is truly iconic.
Scream is a multi-genre wonder that has survived over 20 years as a series and is in its revival/requel phase now that it has outlived its creator (RIP to Wes Craven). Slasher, murder mystery, and genre savvy horror comedy, Scream is one of my favorite series. The first still stands tall in my rankings. It's well paced, the young cast is fantastic, and I never get tired of watching Matthew Lillard ham it up. Bookah!
I scrolled passed dozens of reactions to this movie over the past few days. But watching along knowing James is blind going in… it just hits different. One of my favorite channels, hope all is well with you and the family! Hope you all have a great upcoming holiday season! Happy birthday to you and the Mrs
Scream has references to older horror films such as Psycho (1960), Carrie (1976), Halloween (1978), Friday the 13th (1980), Friday the 13th Part II (1981), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), and many others. You might want to add those to your horror watch list!
From what I remember has spoiler to one of greatest plot-twists in horror history. Someone should put out a warning on here to reactors everywhere. Now my fave I saw at 9 yro in theater is gonna be ruined here like it often is.😔
I always felt like the Scream movies were targeted more at teens and the high school demographic. I know they're rated R and all that, but every person I've met who's really into the Scream films seems to be between the ages of 15-20.
@@javiercales5019 I'm the other comment, bummed out here, friend.😅 I saw Halloween in theater at 7 & Friday The 13th at 9. They were both game-changer next level shit. Most had never really seen a movie about someone just wandering around killing people for no apparent reason, as the term serial killer wasn't even invented yet. Then Nightmare On Elm Street & Hellraiser both stood out as unique. But they all got too cheezy for me after around the 3rd sequel & i lost touch with genre. I remember when this came out it was basically a joke from Wes Cravens own mouth to target, as you said, the next generation of teens & cash-in. So to me Ghostface reminds me of little kids trick or treating. Nothing scary at all. Wish us older folk could enjoy. Just upsets me that it gives away one of best plot twists in horror history. Any true horror fan shouldn't request it for a reactor who's never seen Friday The 13th first. There should be a spoiler alert put out there. I'll leave you with a suggestion if haven't seen, my fave of all, & that would be original "Maniac." You want good old school slasher, it can't be beat!!!
What's funny is when people think the plot twist in Friday was that it wasn't Jason. When before that movie nobody knew who Jason even was, and even during you'd only know he was a kid with a tragic story.
Regarding Meg Ryan, I think you'd really enjoy When Harry Met Sally. No horror, but appropriate for autumn. And you'd definitely recognize someone in it. ❤
One of my favorite movies, but usually watch around Christmas to New Year's as some important events take place during that time period. But can understand why someone would do autumn as well with some beautiful scenery during that time.
I would say that Scream is one the most intelligent satires of the 80's teen slasher genre movies. Notice just how aware the movie and even some characters are about being inside a horror movie! The killers make references to it all the time. That one guy literally lists the rules how to survive a horror movie. This is *not* just another of those teen slashers. This is a statement about those kinds of movies. The director and the writers knew those films well and wanted to say something about them, not just imitate their form. This movie for me is *****, the sequel at most *** and the rest which I have not even seen, *.
Scream is a GREAT horror series to go through. Very satirical and self aware. Great action - and always keeps you guessing. Hope you keep going! Cheers from Canada! :)
Trivia- When Stu gets hit In the head by the phone, that was not intentional but they improvised and Wes Craven liked it and left it in. (At around one hour and thirty-five minutes) Matthew Lillard ad-libbed "My mom and dad are going to be so mad at me." Director Wes Craven thought it was so funny that he kept it in the film. (At around one hour & forty minutes) When Sidney comes out of the closet and stabs Billy with an umbrella, the stuntman was supposed to hit a pad on Skeet Ulrich's chest. The first hit got the pad, but the second one slipped and hit him in the chest. Ulrich's chest has metal wiring beneath the skin from open-heart surgery he had as a child, which causes him intense pain should it be struck or have pressure applied to it. Thus, when the umbrella accidentally stuck his chest, his shocked expression and scream of pain were genuine. Director Wes Craven kept it in because of its authenticity. (At around one hour and twenty-two minutes) The scene where the killer is sneaking up behind Randy (Jamie Kennedy) is the only one where the person in the costume is actually one of the actors rather than a stuntman. Skeet Ulrich specifically asked if he could wear the costume for one scene. It's cool that the actor is saying "Jaime look behind you!" bc his name is actually Jamie in real life although he's talking about Jamie Lee Curtis in the movie "Halloween" Drew Barrymore was originally cast as Sidney Prescott (eventually played by Neve Campbell). But Drew insisted that if she played Casey, a victim in just the opening scene alone, then it would make the audience think anything could happen. Barrymore being given top billing and appearing on the poster was meant to mislead the audience. Wes Craven appears (At around fifty-two minutes) as Fred, the janitor. (Just before the principal is killed) He's wearing a red and green striped sweater, just like Freddy Krueger from " A Nightmare on Elm Street" film franchise. They are also the actual clothes from A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). Linda Blair: (At around thirty-nine minutes) The auburn reporter who says, "People want to know, they have a right to know." She starred in another classic horror film, The Exorcist (1973). Wes Craven had cast her in Summer of Fear (1978). (At around twelve minutes) At the beginning of the movie when Casey's (Drew Barrymore's) parents come home to find something is wrong, her father tells her mother to "go to the McKenzies'", which is the same thing Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) told Lindsey (Kyle Richards) and Tommy (Brian Andrews) to do in Halloween (1978), of which this movie contains many references.
I'm on vacation for a few days, but I can still post some trivia! Trivia for Scream: 1. Released in 1996; directed by Wes Craven; written by Kevin Williamson. 2. To throw viewers off, promotional material had Drew Barrymore set up to be the lead, and not Neve Campbell. She had the highest name recognition of anybody in the cast, and was supposed to play Sidney, but she asked herself to play Casey, figuring it would mess with the audience's minds. 3. Matthew Lillard (Stu) didn't originally plan to audition. He only went to the casting call as moral support for his then-girlfriend, but the producers asked him to read, and liked him so much, he got the part. 4. Skeet Ulrich (Billy) was born Brian Ray Trout. "Skeet" comes from "mosquito," given to him by a Little League coach due to his small statue and speed like a mosquito. Ulrich comes from his mother's second marriage to NASCAR driver D.K. Ulrich. Another NASCAR driver, Ricky Rudd, is his maternal uncle. 5. Skeet Ulrich was born January 20, 1970, and Matthew Lillard only four days later, January 24, 1970. 6. Neve Campbell appeared on the TV show "Party of Five" before being cast as Sidney, which was seen as her big break. 7. Director Wes Craven appears in a cameo as Freddy the janitor. 8. Courteney Cox and David Arquette actually married following their appearances in the series. They were together from 1999 to 2013, and have a daughter together. 9. "Scream" was originally developed under the title "Scary Movie," which eventually became a movie series of its own. And "Scream" was credited with reviving the horror genre, after many horror series had gone stale. 10. Matthew Lillard's line of "You hit me with the phone, d**k!" was unscripted. The fake blood caused the phone to legitimately slip out of Skeet Ulrich's hand. 11. Rose McGowan (Tatum) was able to fit through the garage door too easily, so they had to nail her shirt to the door to hold her in place. She also dyed her hair blonde to contrast with Neve Campbell. 12. Despite all of the blood and violence, the cast got along really well, describing it like summer camp, and forming a very nice camaraderie with each other.
His Fonzie jacket is in the closet. Also, the reporter saying, "We have a right to know" is Linda Blair, who played the role of Regan in The Exorcist, and whose character was hounded by press. Great details.
This is probably my fave horror movie. Definitely my fave slasher movie. It’s sort of a love note to slashers and horror. They straight tell you the sort of rules and formula that a lot of horror movies follow. I love how it keeps you guessing throughout who the killer is even though they blatantly tell you who it is and drop all kinds of hints throughout. The garage door death is my least fave part. I think they killed the principle so they could get rid of a lot of the party guests knowing they would run off to check that out so they could have more privacy to kill Sidney and her dad. So so many things to say about this movie as far as trivia I’ll wait and see if the other comments say them first.
Neve Campbell in this movie was sooo HOT and GORGEOUS. A fun fact of the movie it´s that Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) and David Arquette (Dewey), had a romance in the real life, like in the film, and were married and had a daughter.
"My mom and dad are gonna be mad at me? Is that what he said?!" Matthew Lillard (Stu) is my favorite character in Scream and a very underrated actor. "You hit me with the phone dick!" is one of the funniest lines and his delivery of "My mom and dad are gonna be so mad at me..." is perfect 🤣🤣🤣 To see him do dramatics, try the wildly underrated SLC Punk. You might see a familiar face from How I Met Your Mother 😉
Hi James! Happy birthday to u & ur wife this month!🎉 Mines the 24th!😊 Love ur ref to "City Slickers"- "He's the real leatherface!" Hahahaha 😂 'Jamie Kennedy' plays 'Randy' so when he's tellin 'Jamie Lee Curtis' to "Look out behind u!", he's also usin his own name lol! He's great & has his own little YT channel where he talks about his acting roles & lots of other jazz! If u havent seen "Romeo & Juliet" (1996 as well, I believe) u absolutely should, Jamie has a great little role in that too & imo it's just a fantastic rendition of an all time great story! Lots of love & good vibes from Australia xo🥰 💚🇦🇺
"I'm feeling a little woozy here!" 😂 😂 I quote this all of the time!! I'm not a huge horror fan, but I've always enjoyed this movie, and that line cracks me up
Drew was actually supposed to play the lead, Sidney Prescott, but due to scheduling conflicts she opted to play Casey Becker. In order to get the reaction he wanted, Wes would tell Drew about a news story of a guy setting fire to dogs. When Casey hits Ghostface through the window with the phone, that's the director, Wes Craven under the mask. At one point while filming, Drew accidentally called 911 and cops showed up where they were filming. Lol
I just noticed a minor detail. When the phone call comes, that one guy literally says: "principal Henry is dead". The principal was played by Henry Winkler (aka The Fonz). When I notice little hidden details like that, for me they truly are Happy Days.
I love the 'Scream' franchise. They definitely contain a lot less gore than some of the newer horror movies out there. There are horror elements in this, but it's more of a slasher/mystery/whodunit sort of movie and that's what makes it more interesting for me. I'm not the biggest fan of horror movies, but slashers like this are a bit different because they do have a lot more humor than you'd expect. I think you'd get a real kick out of 'Tucker & Dale vs. Evil' if you ever decide to react to that. It's essentially a horror and comedy combined (based on whose side of the story the movie is following at the moment) and it's a really fun time. But either way I'm really glad to see you step out of your comfort zone and give this franchise a try.
When I was in High School in the late 90's our school held a movie competition. Me and some classmates made a recreation of Scream occurring in our school. We won the "best horror" category with that one.
Scream was made especially for people who in the 90s were temporarily tired of the declining hype for horror films like Nightmare On Elm Street, Halloween, etc.. Wes Craven reawakened the hype through the first parts of the Scream franchise with humor and satire, victims who always flee up the stairs and behave otherwise exaggeratedly stupid (keyword: cliché) and a killer who was clumsy and at the same time overpowered, this kind of fun had saved the genre at the time. I hope you will also watch the sequel, which I personally liked even better than the original, only from part 3 the franchise became boring in my view, but of course everyone must decide for themselves.
When our family lived in the States (California, Claremont), I was 12. We rented a house and it also had the heater located in the garage, so surely that is not so uncommon in America. We also had orange and lemon trees, and a jacuzzy, in the yard, which is something you will never see in Finland. The most you can grow are potatoes, onions and carrots. And apples in trees.
One of the best movies of the 90s for twists and turns on the who done it. Got to love the omage to Johnny Depp in nightmare on elm Street with the number 10 Jersey and I love the Linda Blair cameo😂
Remembering back to my first watch of the movie, there came a point when it seemed pretty obvious that the masked murderer going around attacking people at Stu's house was probably Stu himself. So, I got pretty confused when Billy suddenly shot Randy after I had already dropped Billy from the suspect list, but the movie quickly clarified the situation for me, revealing that Billy and Stu were a killer duo. I have always loved how this movie just absolutely messed with my head and culminated with the surprising twist that there's two killers, not just one. It's so much fun going back and rewatching it and seeing all the clues they give you in the first half of the movie, and being able to see those situations for what they actually were.
Hey James! I'm James and my birthday and my brother's is also in October!! BTW if you're going to watch a movie you have to actually watch it 😂🤣 keep your eyes open buddy!!!
So the reason the principal was killed was for a distraction. When news spread about how he was ghastly displayed hanging from the football goal post, all the extra kids at the party were drawn out because they wanted to go see it. Which left just the main group of kids we've been following the whole movie.
Great reaction man. Too many people miss how much comedy is in this movie, glad you were laughing as much as you did, especially at what I consider the funniest moment in the whole movie, when Billy throws the phone at Stu's head :D
This is the movie that got me into horror! It's a decent series. Number 6 was released this year. My favorites are #1, #4, and #6. I also love the Saw series, but it is probably too gory for you. The first one is much less gory - you might enjoy it.
This was such a fun reaction to watch and I'm so glad I happened to find it. The Scream franchise is my favorite horror movie franchise so thank you for watching the start of it! I don't know if you watched any of the others but if you haven't, I hope you'll be willing to. I think you'd like them! Edit: I didn't guess either of the killers when I first saw this but this came out when I was in 6th grade and I fell for every trap they set for us viewers. I still remember the complete betrayal I felt over the reveal that it was Billy and Stu lol!
Lovely police work... Dewey shows up at Sid's within five minutes of her contacting 911 via the computer (when she didn't even provide an address), but it takes several hours to respond to a call for help via a police radio (wouldn't they wonder why the cop whose car it was attached to wasn't calling it in?) where an address was provided?
I haven't seen many Meg Ryan movies but she's in one called "Kate & Leopold" that I really like. It's a nice romantic/ comedy type movie. Weirdly it also stars Liev Schreiber the guy who played Cotton Weary in this movie Scream. The guy falsely accused of killing Sidneys mom. Also Meg Ryan voices the animated character Anastasia in the movie "Anastasia" would be awesome if you reacted to that someday.
Scream really also helped revitalize Drew Berrymore's career. You should check out the ORIGINAL Pyscho...its more a suspense than a horror. Even though there are a couple of stabbings (not super graphic though)
This reaction was a scream. Henry Winkler was the Fonz in Happy days. Scream is a great franchise. Every movie is a who dunnit. I hope to see more reaction to these light Horror movies. Tremors (1990) is a good one I Know what you did last summer is a bit simular to the scream movies.
1.The fun part is watching everyone overthink who did it. Thank God for twist endings. 2. The principal is The Fonz/Henry Winkler. 3. Cellphones weren't that prevalent in1996. 4. Maskface keeps getting his ass kicked 🤣 5. Tatum/Rose McGowen= As long as I have a face 😋😍 6. Why Stuart would kill his GF Tatum is beyond me.🙄 (I can tell it was him because the stunt man is much taller than Billy).
I would like to suggest that you consider watching one of my favorite Halloween (October) movies. It is a 1944 movie called "Arsenic and old Lace" starring Cary Grant and Priscilla Lane. If you haven't already seen it, I think you will really enjoy it. Love your reactions. New subscriber here. Happy birthday to you and your wife.
You need to see some Meg Ryan movies. She is too cute in the 80s & 90s, with a ton of rom-coms and more to discover. Joe Vs The Volcano (her first with Tom Hanks), Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail (both also with Tom Hanks), French Kiss (with Kevin Kline), and Innerspace (with Martin Short and Dennis Quaid) are all great.
Soo glad you watched this. It’s my husband’s fave movie. He first saw it when he was 8! Lol Plus, this started his crush on Neve Campbell. Ha Also,Tatum (Rose Mcgowan) dated/was engaged to Marilyn Mansion late 90s/early 2000s. And you need to watch “City of Angels” with Meg and Nicolas Cage! Love your videos!!
I do wish you were able to see a few more horror movies before this to know what it was referencing. While it's not necessary, it definitely helps to get people to appreciate it more.
11:15 I am not so sure I agree "just hang up and call 911." Cops statisticaly take 10 to 15 minutes to arrive in city for a 911 call, and 15 to 30 minutes for rural locations. A LOT can happen in 15 to 30 minutes. Your suggestion about the shotgun and shells was imho, a better wiser suggestion.
I hate horror movies but this one is so silly I can handle it. My favorite line is “my mom and dad are gonna be so mad at me “😂 I did love your reaction to “A Quiet Place “ 😂 the sequel is as good as if not better than the first movie.. 👍😎✌️
I have a sci-fi/horror film that you could watch any time because it leans more into the sci-fi part of it than the horror. It's called "The Faculty" from 1998. I think it's just more of a fun sci-fi movie with horror elements.
2:13, I don't do very well with Horror either. Don't feel too bad, James. The first Saw movie was a little bit above my threshold, so I never watched any of the other Saw movies. Scream is fairly tame in comparison, I think.
They killed the fonz from happy days because the guys knew the house would be cleared out from them all running to check it out. Need to watch 1 a week to catch up.
One of my favorites of all time. I was 10 when this came out and man everyone was talking about this in 96 lol. Crazy they are still making these now. Can't wait to see Stu back in Scream 7 lol.
After a few more you need to watch a parody movie mostly about this one and some others is Scary Movie. You’ll get a kick out of that one. Still funny but having context makes it better.
I mentioned that also. I am really interested in seeing James react to The Burbs. However, I'm not sure if enough others are requesting here on RUclips or his patreon.
Very fun reaction! I do recommend Scream 2. It’s fun and even better than the first, in my opinion. I wouldn’t bother with the others, but 2 is a very worthwhile watch.
Wdym??? I will say Scream 3 is the weakest but 4-6 are great. Even 3 is still worth watching. Franchise as a whole is🔥. I think he should continue it even after Scream 2
@Lamarcooooo I find 4-6 nothing more than extreme gore fests. The fun is completely gone by those films. Of course, if that's what he's into, then he should definitely check them out. It sounded to me based on things he said that that wasn't his cup of tea.
To be fair i know a lot of people who live in the country who will put the sensors for a garage door next to each other on the ceiling. Fun fact rose mcgowan could fit through the cat door so she was acting stuck. Also no i was way too young to guess the killers when i first watched this. Have a good one.
So glad this showed up in my feed. I'll watch any and every Scream reaction. Not only my favorite film, but my favorite franchise as well. Happy to see the other movies you've reacted to, and added them to my "Watch Later" playlist. Subbing!!
I remembered Scream spoiling more horror movies than it actually does, I think. Aside from outlining the so-called 'rules of a horror film' (rules of a slasher film really?), which are actually just tropes created by the extensive reuse of script ideas from John Carpenter and Debra Hill by writers who have no original ideas of their own, it's only really Friday the 13th it spoils. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone. Shame really because the twist in Friday the 13th still works to this day.
Not a ton, but there are a few in the references. Billy quotes Norman Bates in Psycho, spoiling the reveal. Randy mentions that JLC 'always survives' her horror movies, which is kinda a spoiler for many of her early movies, but particularly Halloween and Prom Night are mentioned by name.
I was born in 1981, and when I was approximately 8 years old I got crushed by a garage door. I tried to be slick and click the button on the wall and then go under the door, and it pinned me.
I don't recall it hurting exactly, but it didn't go back up like garage doors I had seen after that incident. It kept putting pressure on me, trying to close.@@AwesomeUSMovies
LOL "some big breasted girl runs up the stairs and not out the door" two minutes later... sidney runs up the stairs 🤣🤣 Scream is about obsessing over horror stereotypes...they love to reference other horror movies or slasher movies and justify how something in their film happens because of another film. in the first one they always go on about how everything has a formula and the second Scream the argument is sequels always suck (according to some).

If you continue with the franchise (and I beg of you, good sir, PLEASE finish the franchise), you will grow to love Gale Weathers. It's a slow-burn for most due to her being portrayed so negatively as a journo. But a great deal of people really come love and respect her character. Then there's those of us who loved her from day one because we just love us a bad bxtch - especially people in my community. Speaking of Gale, and how she's portrayed, I hate how the fictional media - books, movies, television - portray journalistic media as bad people. They're the good guys - unless they're a tabloid "journalist", then they're a succubus - just trying to report the news, and provide a free citizenry with the knowledge they need to be abreast of in order to make informed decisions.
You know, I had secretly wished for this one... but you're such a nice, humble, kind, and a tad old fashioned sorta dude - and happy-go-lucky - I never had hope that it would actually end up as something you would react to. Now if only you watched the Saw franchise 😏😈🤣
@@AwesomeUSMovies oh, lol, that was a joke sir... sorry. I would never really expect you to watch them, they're FAR too gory. Scream franchise and its ilk, sure. But not Saw, lol. Goodnight, sir.
The annoying reporter that asked how did it feel to be almost completely butchered - was the one and only Ragan from the exorcist. Carrie fisher is in the 3rd or 4th one.
@@AwesomeUSMovies My favorite thing is trying to find out who the killer is. I don’t know if I’ve guessed correctly on any of them 😂. Got close on Scream 6 though.
if you replay it they give away there is more than one in the opening scene with drew barrymore: one of them asks "which door am i at?" well let's think about that...they just killed the boyfriend (back door) and then threw a chair in the back door too but then she goes to the front and still dies...so...unless one of them was running really fast...it's a trick question. they were at both doors.
James I was taking a drink when you said shes a little chilly. Don't do that. haha The most scariest movie to me is called Frailty with Mathew Mcaughnehey. Not because its particularly gory or scary but because there are actually people out there like the ones in that movie. Hope you give it a watch sometime.
@@AwesomeUSMoviesthis would be considered a “Slasher” flick. They’re usually more fun due to the jump scares and creative kills. You want to stay away from psychological/supernatural thrillers/horrors, some of those can really stick with you!
Great series of movies. I hope you liked this one enough to watch the others too. Oh,and imo, the Howling was one of the better Werewolf movies along with the 2 American Werewolf In... movies

The movie they were watching was the original Halloween from1978 it should have been the first movie you watched to kick off Halloween season I'm disappointed in your son's for not telling you
at 15:35 that reporter "how does it feel to almost be brutally butchered?" is Linda Blair (the girl who got possessed in The Exorcist)
We always hoped for this absolute classic but never thought we’d get it
It was pretty funny actually. Not the type of horror that bothers me at all.
@@AwesomeUSMovies hearing that, I hope you’d consider watching the rest of the Scream movies (even if they come after Halloween)
I know you haven't watched the movie but one of reporters who was harassing Sydney was Linda Blair, the actress who played the little girl Regan in the Exorcist.
I always forget to look for her 😅
Nope not going to happen. Never watching it
@@AwesomeUSMovies Is there a particular reason why? I respect your decision, just curious.
Bookah!
Good blurb, for real.
I scrolled passed dozens of reactions to this movie over the past few days. But watching along knowing James is blind going in… it just hits different. One of my favorite channels, hope all is well with you and the family! Hope you all have a great upcoming holiday season! Happy birthday to you and the Mrs
Thank you so much
Love this movie, in my top 5 of all time. It manages to combine horror, mystery, suspense, and lots of dark humour.
Oh love Autumn
One of my favorite movies, but usually watch around Christmas to New Year's as some important events take place during that time period. But can understand why someone would do autumn as well with some beautiful scenery during that time.
Cross your fingers 🤞 it's going to be on a poll this next week!!! Hope it wins!!!
@@sharpgirl72 🤞🤞
Congratulations, you've fulfilled the prerequisite to watch Scary Movie. 🎉🥳🍾

@@AwesomeUSMovies Dont worry - its a comedy. One of the funniest comedies ever!
Needs to watch I Know What You Did Last Summer first. Has he watched that?
I would say that Scream is one the most intelligent satires of the 80's teen slasher genre movies. Notice just how aware the movie and even some characters are about being inside a horror movie! The killers make references to it all the time. That one guy literally lists the rules how to survive a horror movie. This is *not* just another of those teen slashers. This is a statement about those kinds of movies. The director and the writers knew those films well and wanted to say something about them, not just imitate their form. This movie for me is *****, the sequel at most *** and the rest which I have not even seen, *.
Love this series. 👻🔪 Hope you watch the rest too. Happy birthday month to you and your wife! Mine is next month. 🎃
Thanks, I'll probably watch another for sure. I liked the one coming out next monday even better.
@@AwesomeUSMovies Nice 🙂 looking forward to it!
Drew being killed off early is an homage to another movie where the big movie star gets killed off right at the beginning.
Scream is a GREAT horror series to go through. Very satirical and self aware. Great action - and always keeps you guessing. Hope you keep going! Cheers from Canada! :)
Thanks for the tips!
@@AwesomeUSMovies You're most welcome. Have a great night :)
This is an amazing franchise so iconic it is an incredible journey
You should put a bingo card on the screen when you watch Scream 2 and keep guessing as you watch.
Fun
It's cool that the actor is saying "Jaime look behind you!" bc his name is actually Jamie in real life although he's talking about Jamie Lee Curtis in the movie "Halloween"
Drew Barrymore was originally cast as Sidney Prescott (eventually played by Neve Campbell).
Trivia for Scream:
Always love you comments thanks
That's crazy. Someone else said that too
The Journalist and the Deputy got married, had a kid, and later divorced, in real life. This movie is where they met.
"My mom and dad are gonna be mad at me? Is that what he said?!"
Matthew Lillard (Stu) is my favorite character in Scream and a very underrated actor. "You hit me with the phone dick!" is one of the funniest lines and his delivery of "My mom and dad are gonna be so mad at me..." is perfect 🤣🤣🤣
To see him do dramatics, try the wildly underrated SLC Punk. You might see a familiar face from How I Met Your Mother 😉
Hi James! Happy birthday to u & ur wife this month!🎉 Mines the 24th!😊
Love ur ref to "City Slickers"- "He's the real leatherface!" Hahahaha 😂
'Jamie Kennedy' plays 'Randy' so when he's tellin 'Jamie Lee Curtis' to "Look out behind u!", he's also usin his own name lol!
I'm not a huge horror fan, but I've always enjoyed this movie, and that line cracks me up
There definitely more than two killer in this movie. A 3rd guy. All revealed later in the series.
18:46. "She didn’t tell the teacher?"
Probably knew she wouldn't be believed immediately.
He says Himbry. Principal Himbry is his name. However you can see the Fonz's leather jacket in his closet.
“‘We all go a little mad sometimes.’ Anthony Perkins, Psycho.” - Skeet Ulrich, Scream
Happy birthday month
So the reason the principal was killed was for a distraction. When news spread about how he was ghastly displayed hanging from the football goal post, all the extra kids at the party were drawn out because they wanted to go see it. Which left just the main group of kids we've been following the whole movie.
Just for a distraction... I like Henry
@@AwesomeUSMovieseveryone loves The Fonz. :)
Ah yeah, my favorite horror series of all time. Love the reaction
Thanks for the support
Great reaction man. Too many people miss how much comedy is in this movie, glad you were laughing as much as you did, especially at what I consider the funniest moment in the whole movie, when Billy throws the phone at Stu's head :D
Most people don't realize that Kenny, Gale's cameraman is Dan Dority from Deadwood.
Henry Winkler only agreed to do the role if he got killed off early. He didn't want his celebrity to overshadow the main characters.
Funny
90's and 2000's horror are the very few i can stand. They arent too gory and give enough break for you to actually guess who the culprit is.
Fun fact....at 15:41 the reporter is Linda Blair the girl who played Regan in the original Exorcist.
The Sharon Stone comment is from the 1992 movie "Basic Instinct"
In the context of Basic Instinct, Stu's hand flapping motion 🤲 is rather obscene 😅
I actually really like this franchise as it was not just a slasher flick / but it had a story. You interested enough to see the sequels, James?
Scream really also helped revitalize Drew Berrymore's career. You should check out the ORIGINAL Pyscho...its more a suspense than a horror. Even though there are a couple of stabbings (not super graphic though)
This reaction was a scream.
Henry Winkler was the Fonz in Happy days.

Tremors (1990) is a good one
I Know what you did last summer is a bit simular to the scream movies.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
At 15:37 the reporter asking questions is Linda Blair, the actress from The Exorcist.
1.The fun part is watching everyone overthink who did it. Thank God for twist endings.
2. The principal is The Fonz/Henry Winkler.
3. Cellphones weren't that prevalent in1996.
4. Maskface keeps getting his ass kicked 🤣
5. Tatum/Rose McGowen= As long as I have a face 😋😍
6. Why Stuart would kill his GF Tatum is beyond me.🙄 (I can tell it was him because the stunt man is much taller than Billy).
The hieght difference is a problem for sure.
R.I.P Wes Craven
(1939-2015)
Added, love Tom
Soo glad you watched this. It’s my husband’s fave movie. He first saw it when he was 8! Lol Plus, this started his crush on Neve Campbell. Ha Also,Tatum (Rose Mcgowan) dated/was engaged to Marilyn Mansion late 90s/early 2000s. And you need to watch “City of Angels” with Meg and Nicolas Cage! Love your videos!!
Awesome Movie and Work Bro, Thanks 👍👍😀 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it
❤❤❤Thanks for the Re-upload
No problem 😊
thanks for fixing it :)
Happy to help
I do wish you were able to see a few more horror movies before this to know what it was referencing. While it's not necessary, it definitely helps to get people to appreciate it more.
I think this is only the second reactor to this movie I've found who actually recognizes Henry Winkler.
Scream 2 is a great follow up
11:15 I am not so sure I agree "just hang up and call 911." Cops statisticaly take 10 to 15 minutes to arrive in city for a 911 call, and 15 to 30 minutes for rural locations. A LOT can happen in 15 to 30 minutes. Your suggestion about the shotgun and shells was imho, a better wiser suggestion.
I hate horror movies but this one is so silly I can handle it. My favorite line is “my mom and dad are gonna be so mad at me “😂
I did love your reaction to “A Quiet Place “ 😂 the sequel is as good as if not better than the first movie.. 👍😎✌️
I have a sci-fi/horror film that you could watch any time because it leans more into the sci-fi part of it than the horror. It's called "The Faculty" from 1998. I think it's just more of a fun sci-fi movie with horror elements.
Winkler was The Fonze in Happy Days, a really good sitcom. He's also in the recent HBO show Barry.
2:13, I don't do very well with Horror either. Don't feel too bad, James.
The first Saw movie was a little bit above my threshold, so I never watched any of the other Saw movies.
Scream is fairly tame in comparison, I think.
I love the graphic of the blood dripping Jeep Cherokee portrait.
Thanks, great new editor
This is my personal favorite scary movie =) I love all 6 of the movies too as they are probably the most consistent horror series ever made.
They killed the fonz from happy days because the guys knew the house would be cleared out from them all running to check it out.
Need to watch 1 a week to catch up.
Neve Campbell Aka Sydney, the lead character was in a TV show in the 90 called Party of five with Matthew Fox From Lost
Never heard of it sorry
I love all these movies! Hopefully you watch the rest of them too! They are def worth watching. Also love your reactions!!!!
One of my favorites of all time. I was 10 when this came out and man everyone was talking about this in 96 lol. Crazy they are still making these now. Can't wait to see Stu back in Scream 7 lol.
I don’t like scary movies either! I’ve had this on my watchlist for years but was too afraid. We can do this!
It was more funny vs scary
After a few more you need to watch a parody movie mostly about this one and some others is Scary Movie. You’ll get a kick out of that one. Still funny but having context makes it better.
The Burbs is also a great Tom Hanks horror comedy
I mentioned that also. I am really interested in seeing James react to The Burbs. However, I'm not sure if enough others are requesting here on RUclips or his patreon.
Very fun reaction! I do recommend Scream 2. It’s fun and even better than the first, in my opinion. I wouldn’t bother with the others, but 2 is a very worthwhile watch.
Great to know
Thanks for watching
So glad this showed up in my feed. I'll watch any and every Scream reaction. Not only my favorite film, but my favorite franchise as well. Happy to see the other movies you've reacted to, and added them to my "Watch Later" playlist. Subbing!!
Wow thanks for subbing. LOTS of content on my channel
@@LordVolkov Good points. Although I'm not sure the Norman Bates quote reveals anything. On a side note, always nice to meet a fellow Lord.😬
Great reaction👍🏼! Ready for Scream 2?
Lots of watch
Great reaction James, love that you’re stepping out of your comfort zone
I appreciate that!
I was born in 1981, and when I was approximately 8 years old I got crushed by a garage door. I tried to be slick and click the button on the wall and then go under the door, and it pinned me.
Dang, did it hurt or back off at some point?
I don't recall it hurting exactly, but it didn't go back up like garage doors I had seen after that incident. It kept putting pressure on me, trying to close.@@AwesomeUSMovies
I hate horror too, but Alfred Hitchcock The Birds and Premonition with Sandra Bullock.
LOL "some big breasted girl runs up the stairs and not out the door"
two minutes later...
sidney runs up the stairs 🤣🤣
Scream is about obsessing over horror stereotypes...they love to reference other horror movies or slasher movies and justify how something in their film happens because of another film. in the first one they always go on about how everything has a formula and the second Scream the argument is sequels always suck (according to some).
Thanks for the info

Most murders are senseless. Also, Cox and David Arquette (young cop) are married.
That's crazy. Someone else said that too
If you continue with the franchise (and I beg of you, good sir, PLEASE finish the franchise), you will grow to love Gale Weathers.
Welcome to the best horror franchise to ever slice and dice!
Awesome
You know, I had secretly wished for this one... but you're such a nice, humble, kind, and a tad old fashioned sorta dude - and happy-go-lucky - I never had hope that it would actually end up as something you would react to. Now if only you watched the Saw franchise 😏😈🤣
One step at a time
@@AwesomeUSMovies oh, lol, that was a joke sir...
My 13 year old granddaughter is obsessed with this franchise. She's met most of the cast. They run to her when they see her!
My favorite horror franchise!
It was pretty funny
@@AwesomeUSMovies My favorite thing is trying to find out who the killer is. I don’t know if I’ve guessed correctly on any of them 😂. Got close on Scream 6 though.
if you replay it they give away there is more than one in the opening scene with drew barrymore: one of them asks "which door am i at?"
well let's think about that...they just killed the boyfriend (back door) and then threw a chair in the back door too
but then she goes to the front and still dies...so...unless one of them was running really fast...it's a trick question. they were at both doors.
Yeah nice
James I was taking a drink when you said shes a little chilly. Don't do that. haha The most scariest movie to me is called Frailty with Mathew Mcaughnehey. Not because its particularly gory or scary but because there are actually people out there like the ones in that movie. Hope you give it a watch sometime.
Glad you enjoyed it
This series is more of a fun parody of horror than an actual horror movie
I think I agree, I laughed a bunch. I didn't think it was scary at all. Just wait till next Monday!!!
It's a nice combination of both, actually. A pure parody would be something dumb like the Scary Movie films.
I know you hate horror, I remember your reaction to The Shining, both parts!
I don't think this is very horrorey. It's was kinda silly
@@AwesomeUSMoviesthis would be considered a “Slasher” flick. They’re usually more fun due to the jump scares and creative kills. You want to stay away from psychological/supernatural thrillers/horrors, some of those can really stick with you!
Thanks for the re-upload!
You bet!
Great series of movies. I hope you liked this one enough to watch the others too.
Oh,and imo, the Howling was one of the better Werewolf movies along with the 2 American Werewolf In... movies
