      Quick question what do you think for console gaming and laptop gaming? I want this monitor for my series S, i know it cant truly run 4k but it can upscale from what I understand the thing is i go back and forth between both for gaming. Or should I just get a 1440p 240hz? I would just like the crispyness for my console gaming and be able to play higher fps on laptop and just lower resolution for competitive gaming. it has a 3060 with i7 10th gen - 16 gb ram.

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  3 года назад +3

      I like this monitor on the Series S for sure. I just don't know if you get all of the benefits from it. I have the Series S video on the channel if you want to check it out. Personally I would rather get a good 1440p monitor and ball out on refresh rate so I can game hard on that laptop. 1080p HDR on a good monitor @ 120hz on that Series S still will look good.

  • @wolfe1970
    @wolfe1970 2 года назад +6

    Ive always wondered why Microsoft dont make a monitor purposely for the Xbox Series s/x, its so hit and miss if you are lucky enough to find a monitor that ticks all the boxes, even the Gigabyte M28u doesn't tick all boxes

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 года назад +6

      Well, because they couldn't make a better monitor than most. But they do "certify" other monitors, not that it means much. I would rather have somebody else like Samsung, LG, Asus and Gigabyte make a monitor around what they think is good. But Microsoft should be better about working with those companies to get that best possible results.

      What box does this monitor fail to tick?

  • @andrewwright.
    @andrewwright. 3 месяца назад

    that haze is on every game because the xbox x is 1080p upscaling so has to cut detail, go into tv setting and reducing blue output will clear this up completely. definition is far better.
    but the trade of is a darker picture. can be brought back with contrast but its a trade off for sure.
    also....not really sticking to 120fps is it at 4k.
    is 4k really worth it over 1440p with the correct setting of blue?

  • @sptennis8758
    @sptennis8758 2 года назад +4

    Thanks for the video. I'm also trying to figure out best settings for HDR. So, in those 4-5 HDR settings what changes did you make. Because i could not capture the settings you applied there. Talking about:Light enhance-Colour Enhance-Dark Enhance-Local Dimming

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 года назад

      I usually leave local dimming on. On darker games I will lighten the display by adjusting the Dark Enhance so I can see more detail, I think it is adjusting it up. The light enhance I usually don't touch. Color Enhance I will adjust up if the RGB is a bit lacking. You can always go back into the color adjust if you need to adjust each color individually.

    Is this the cheapest and best option for someone who is looking to have max refresh rate on their Xbox series x while using the highest resolution possible for playing cod competitively? Only reason I’m considering this versus a cheaper 1440p monitor is for the rare instances I play story mode games. Also, do you happen to be familiar with asus 4k 144hz monitor? Do you know if it offers anything more to justify a $100+ higher price tag?

      This blows it out of the park. Everything feels smooth , did notice a bit of ghosting when playing around with picture settings on speed. So turned that off and no ghosting now. Noticed it a fair bit in FIFA23 around players, but not on any other game.

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  3 года назад +4

      I mean, I totally agree. The C1 is a beast. Expensive. But you haven't "seen" HDR until you have used an OLED. Add in that 1MS response time and 120hz....game over.

    • @tobo21m
      @tobo21m 3 года назад +1

      @@nrabbi93 Lol. You sure about that? OLED vs IPS contrast is in a different league. Turning pixels on and off will give you the best contrast possible. Not comparable to the lousy local dimming on this monitor with the few zones it has.
      To be clear, this monitor is still great and definitely has its upsides to the lg c1 besides the price, but when you're only comparing the contrast it doesn't hold a candle.

    What’s behind and beyond a screen should be a big if. And I'd like to chime in my experience.
    I got an M28U. A nasty bad one. The screen flickered from time to time. The worst scenario is it blacked out a second.; can’t say when or how often, like after how many minutes.
    Well. If you think a faulty monitor is bad enough, you’re in for a bigger trouble.That is Gigabyte’s service and attitude. Originally I wanted a replacement. They wouldn’t let you, unless they test it and make sure it’s not my wrongdoing. That’d leave me without a monitor. So I decided to return it and get refund.
    But the trouble did not end here. Gigabyte would not confirm refund before they check and test to their heart’s content. And they said it’d take a month.

      @@BainCustom I may just wait for the ASUS TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A as it has 4 hdmi ports. 2x 2.1 and 2x 2.0. That way I could hook my Roku up too.

      I think 32 inches is perfect for 4K. The bigger size gives you so much immersion when gaming and especially when watching videos. I personally feel that 28 inches is not worth it compared to 27 inch 1440p if you know what I mean.

      @@JBR_1995 I've tried both and they look great but if you're sitting in front of it like on a desk pc monitor kind of use case, 28" is just right, otherwise at 32" it's much better curved (none exist though except forthcoming G8), otherwise you're turning your head a bunch to see the screen corners that feel kind of "pushed back" with flat 32. Much more immersion at 32 but I felt it only worked if you're sitting back from it more than couple feet. At up front desk distance I feel 28" is ideal IMO.

    Would the 32 inch be good for this it is the 28 the sweet spot for size ? I currently play on a big flat screen . Will I still get the same bells and whistles with 32 inch or do I lose anything ?

      32 is really just larger, it can cause a lower performance in black level performance and potentially brightness. But I doubt it will be that noticable.

      If all things were equal in price, I would go GP950. But if cost plays a factor...the M28U packs a lot for the price. If price doesn't matter....GP950 for sure.

    • @pishni259
      @pishni259 2 года назад +1

      Ha that's the problem though. Gp950 is like 300$ more than the m28u and you do get little more (HDR 600 and 160hz overclock, full 2.1 bandwidth) just not sure the extras warrant the extra cost. I cancelled my gp950 order after I heard about all the flickering issues it has and have an m28u on the way. Much better price to performance ratio on m28u but hope it holds up to testing. Otherwise will stick with 1440p 240hz

      The bummer is that Xbox doesn't auto switch into 1440p, so you will have to uncheck the allow 4k option in the video and fidelity settings on the Xbox menu. That should unlock the 1440p for you.
